Mary Lois Culpepper Herrod, 74, of Andersonville and formally of Albany passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 at her home. Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Herrod will be conducted Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. iIntermentwill follow in the Andersonville National cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Mary Lois Culpepper Herrod was born January 3, 1935 in Albany to the late Robert Allerson Culpepper and Essie Cowen Culpepper. Mrs. Herrod graduated from Albany High School, was a homemaker and was an avid sports fan. She was of the Baptist Faith and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents Mrs. Herrod was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Williams who passed away in 2001. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Edward G. Herrod of Andersonville; sons, Edward G. Herrod, Jr. and is fiancA© of Albany, Jennifer Conklin, Cary Scott Herrod and his wife, Leslie of Andersonville; daughters, Mary Jane Etherton and her fiancA©, Gary Snipes of Albany and Sabrina Williams of Arkansas; grandchildren, Miranda Brook, Haley Marie, Toby Ellis, Ashley Elizabeth, Daniel Scott, Stephen Ray, Joshua Allen Michelle Lynn, James Edward, Amanda Christine and Johnny David Williams; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Abby, Nancy Grace and Ashley Annette. The family will receive friends (today) Wednesday July 15, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

Michael Edward Hall, 46, of Albany passed away Wednesday July 29, 2009 in Camilla. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Hall will be conducted Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Sellers will officiate with interment to follow at Thundering Springs cemetery in Lee County. Michael Edward Hall was born July 17, 1963 in Donalsonville, GA. to John Densey Hall and Louise Sims Hall. He worked many years as a welder. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his father, John Densey Hall, Sr.; brother, John Densey “Speedy” Hall, Jr.; daughter, Mandy Roberts and son-in-law, Clay Howe. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Hall; mother, Louise Sims Hall of Albany; four daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Rito Segura of Vada, Kalli Hall of Pelham, Danielle Potts of Baconton, Kathy Howe of Greenville, SC.; one son, Michael Edward Hall, Jr. of Thomasville; one sister, Joyce McDonald of Loganville; two brothers, Ben “Pewee” Hall and Randy Hall of Albany; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mavis Nadine Cole
Mavis Nadine Cole, 73, of Leesburg went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2009 at her home. Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Cole will be conducted Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Lakeside Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate with interment to follow in the Leesburg Cemetery. Mavis Nadine Cole was born March 7, 1936 in Hartwell, GA. to the late Otis Thompson and Era Hill Thompson. Mrs. Cole lived in Lee County since 1961, and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. Her children rise up and call her blessed, because she was a loving mother who always put her children and family first and she will be truly missed. In addition to her parents Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her son, Roger Cole and sister, Leona Thompson. Survivors include her Children, Jackie Everson of Leesburg, David Cole and his wife, Melanie of Tampa, FL, Eric Kemner of Tampa, FL, Shirley Kinard and her husband, Tim of Pensacola, FL and John Kemner of Tampa, FL; brother, Warren Thompson and his wife, Nancy of Kennesaw, GA; sisters, Colleen Rainwater of Atlanta and Joyce Sykes and her husband, Raymond of Astatula, FL; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The Family will receive friends on Wednesday at Lakeside Baptist Church one hour before the service.

Irene Martin Criste, 90, of Sylvester and fomally of Griffin passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Sylvester Health Care. Funeral services were conducted July 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home in Griffin. Rev. Andy Cunningham officated with intement following in the Westwood Gardens in Griffin. Hall and Hall Funeral home was in charge of local arrangements.
Thelma Hall Winters
Thelma Hall Winters, 85, of Sylvester passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009. Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Winters will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at East Albany Church of God with interment to follow in the Providence Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Worth County. Reverend Jesse Ogden, Reverend Dewain Joiner, Reverend Ron Parrish and Dr. Clifton Elmore will officiate. Mrs. Winters was born on March 7, 1924 in Turner County to the late Shelvy Hall and the late Mary Ethel Champion Hall. She is preceded in death by husband, Charles Lee Winters. Mrs. Winters was retired from Coats and Clarks, worked for Bobs Candy Company and was a member of Sassy Seniors of Sylvester, T.O.P.S., past member of the Moose Lodge of Albany. She was a member of East Albany Church of God where she served as Church Secretary, Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and Vice President of the Ladies Ministries. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Ronald K. and Phyllis Powell of Sylvester, Donald K. and Terrie Powell of Sylvester, Reverend Thomas L. and Jessica Powell of Griffin, Tammy and Jon Free of Baconton; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Albert Wrobel of Anchorage, Alaska; several nieces and nephews. Jerry Green
Jerry Lee Green, 63, of Albany passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at his home. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Green will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. iIntermentwill follow at Riverside cemetery with Reverend Ike Bazhaw officiating. Jerry Lee Green was born August 14, 1945 in Richmond, VA to the late Harry and Dorothy Mildred Bruce Green. He was the owner of B&J Auto Parts, was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Jerry was devoted to his wife and was a faithful caregiver to her. Their love for one another carried them through the difficult times of life. He will be truly missed by his wife and all who knew him. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda Joyce Ethridge Green of Albany; brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and a host of devoted friends. George Reed
George Harold Reed, 76, of Albany passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Palmyra Nursing Home. Services honoring the life of Mr. Reed will be conducted Friday, August 14, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with Military Honors. George Harold Reed was born May 6, 1933 in Blairsville, GA to the late Dewitt Reed and Nellie Field Reed. He served in the Marines, worked as a barber for many years and was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his ex-wife whom he remained close to, Barbara Hurst Reed of Albany; sons, Russell Reed of Albany, Bobby and his wife, Annza of Leesburg; daughter, Teresa and Larry Clark of Albany; four grandchildren, Chad Clark, Tara Clark, Grayson Reed and Rachel Reed; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Reed; sister-in-law, Helen Hurst; nephews Billy Ray Green and Dale Reed; several other nieces, nephews and close friends. He will also be missed by an old friend, Sam. The family will receive friends following the service at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

Robert Lee Hayes, Sr. 64, of Albany passed away on Sunday June 21, 2009. Terrell Mock will officiate with interment to follow at Smithville City Cemetery. Robert Lee Hayes, Sr. was born January 14, 1945 in Albany, GA. to the late Owen Hayes and Rosa Lee Harper Hayes. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, a retired truck driver and a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his five brothers, Raymond, Samuel, Owen, Jr., Bobby, and George and his brother-in-law, Bernie Cannon. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Glenda J. Ms. Beaver was born on January 30, 1944 in Concord, NC. She worked for 24 years at the Albany Marine Corps Base with supplies and contracts. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Her parents, Earl and Margaret Allison preceded her in death.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Second Baptist Church where she attended Lydia Sunday School class and the XYZ Senior Citizens Group. She was a member of Warner Robins Senior Citizens. Mrs. Williams was a retired school teacher and membership co-chairman for the Houston County Retired Educators Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Williams; and parents, Otis Leon Mims and Vera Etheridge Hill.

Ron Dowdy, 54, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. An additional memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in the Pensacola area.
Mr. Dowdy worked as a Computer Specialist at the Defense Information Systems Agency on Robins Air Force Base. He enjoyed traveling, boating, NASCAR races and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Dowdy; son, Jace Hall, Lakenheath England; daughter, Danielle Dowdy and grandson, Ethan Bunch, Baton Rouge, LA; mother, Patricia Dowdy, Pensacola, FL; sisters, Debby Ward and Pam Tompkins, brother, Donny Dowdy, all of Pensacola, FL; aunts, Nita Cardenas and Rita Jernigan, Holley-Navarre, FL; beloved cousin, David Cardenas, Holley-Navarre, FL; and numerous other family members.
