Loving Father, Devoted Son and Brother. Man of Intellect and Honor. Raines Viking. Citizen of the World. Steadfast Marine and Naval Officer.

Levi Lyles, Jr. was born July 06, 1951 to the late Clarice Albritten Lyles and the late Levi Lyles, Sr. in Jacksonville, FL. A proud graduate of William M. Rainees’s historical first class of 1969, those closest to him referred to his as ‘Skeet’.

A man of great focus, determination and ambition, Levi’s goals were always crystal clear: to proudly serve his country as a dedicated 2-time Marine and finally as a valued Naval Officer in the United States Navy. In addition, he devoted his life to a stable home for his family, a mission he worked tirelessly and lovingly toward even after his soulmate, the late Priscilla Denise Lyles, passed away in 1995 shortly after his retirement in 1994.

Although he did receive some formal education at Albany State University, Albany, GA and received a degree from the University of Phoenix, Levi was a firm believer in self-education, the power of how knowledge is applied, intellectual stimulation and true understanding. Levi Lyles, Jr. was a soulful man of great spirit; a warrior poet, a rare breed in a world where true valor, robust intelligence, strength of character and a clear sense of honor are in short supply. A citizen of the globe, he always had an expansive, distinct awareness of his surroundings, with an emphatic sense that the world was bigger than a wallet, a street, a block or a city.

Levi is survived by and remembered in the hearts and minds of loved ones and valued friends. He leaves a legacy to his children: sons, Cintronn and Kinte’ and daughters, Jeanece and Lazjee’; grandchildren, Dominique, Darynn, Mykayla and Kane; sisters, Gloria, Clara and Barbara; nephews, David and Breon; neices, Tammeka, Kreytesa and Travidda and a host of beloved and cherished cousins and friends.

Levi Lyles, Jr.: father, son, brother, Marine Corps Sergeant, Navy Petty Officer First Class, gentle soul, man of intellect and character...you were loved. You are loved.
