Services for Freda Inez Puckett of Milan were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.
The Rev. Charles Carter, the Rev. Darrell Barlow and the Rev. Tommy Land officiated.
Puckett, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She was the daughter of the late John Robert and Molsie Bowen Rogers of Dodge County, and was married to James Angel Puckett of Milan.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Jimmy (Dale) Puckett of Milan, and Jeff (Donna) Puckett of Dublin; three grandchildren, Brad (Michelle) Puckett, Chad Puckett, and Shasta (John) Marchant, all of Milan; six great-grandchildren, Chelsea Puckett, Christopher Puckett, Chloe Puckett, Cadie Marchant, Carlie Marchant, and Brodie Marchant; sisters, Joyce (Gerald) Bembry, Billie Ann (Charles) Carter, and Faye (Jack) Thompson, all of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.

Sallie Marchman Sheppard
Services for Sallie Marchman Sheppard of Brunswick were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the Blockhouse Church Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ga.
Sheppard died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006. She was the was the daughter of the late Homer Lee and Carrie Pittman Marchman and was married to Russell E. Walker.
A native of Telfair County, she was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Richard Sheppard and Lynn Sheppard, both of McRae; grandchildren, Laura Sheppard, Joey Sheppard, Dustin Sheppard, Billy Sheppard and Ricky Sheppard; and great-grandchildren, Desiree Sheppard, Kody James Sheppard, and Michael Gavin Sheppard.

Jehovah (Hoves) Singleton
Services for Jehovah (Hoves) Singleton of Alamo were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 at Evening Light Church of God of Glenwood with interment in the New Stuckey Cemetery in Glenwood.
The Rev. Willie Floyd Jr. officiated.
Singleton, 92, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. He was the son of the late William and Carrie Singleton, and was married to the late Ruth Singleton. He is also preceded in death by two daughters, Grace Jones and Rosa Singleton.
He is survived by children, Gearldine (Bernard) Doutherd of Inkster, Mich., Bobby (Letha) Singleton of Alamo, and Hosea (Linda) Singleton of Sarasota, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a loving and devoted friend, Mary Lee Bess of Alamo; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Joseph Nathan Windham
Services for Joseph Nathan Windham of Oklahoma City, Okla. were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at White Springs Baptist Church in Laurens County with interment at the church cemetery.
The Rev. Gerald Frazier officiated.
Windham, 70, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006. He was the oldest of three boys born to Ruby (Hattaway) and Hoyt Windham. He was born in Miami, Fla., and was married to Joyce Davis Cravin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby, and dear friend Don Hicks.
Windham graduated from Miami Edison High School where he lettered in football and earned a scholarship to attend the University of Florida. He was an outstanding student, graduating in 1959 with honors and earning the “Walter J. Matherly” Scholar Athlete award. He graduated with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. He accepted a position with the Martin Company in Orlando, and after three years with them, accepted a position with McDonnell Douglass in St. Louis, Mo. where he enjoyed a successful career, retiring after 30 years as Director of Advanced Systems and Technology. During this time he spent three years working a special assignment for the CIA in McLean, Va. and managing a program of key national significance. After retirement, he moved to Gainesville, Fla. and attended the University of Florida, earning a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy. In 1996 he rejoined the work force as Vice President-Business Development with the MRJ Company and relocated to northern Virginia. MRJ was sold to Veridian and Veridian was sold to General Dynamics where Windham worked until his health failed in 2005.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda Evans (Gene) and Cindy Windham, both of Florida, Lorisa Gratza (Keith) and Amy Zinn (Mark), both of Missouri; a much loved grandson, Josh Windham Springman and granddaughter, Kate Koons (Brian); and great-granddaughter, Lily Mae Koons; brother, Douglas (Jeannette); niece, Karen Windham; nephew, Doug Windham; very special friend, Joe Wahlberg (Ann); his mother’s twin brother, Robby Hattaway of Milledgeville; aunt, Jean Hattaway of Hiawassee; and a host of beloved cousins and friends.

Inez Boone
Services for Inez Boone of Jacksonville were held at 2p.m. Saturday, June 16 at the Douglas Gospel Assembly with interment in the Douglas Assembly Cemetery near Broxton.
The Rev. Allen Peacock and Rev. Larry Gleaton officiated. Royce and Allen Peacock sang “Peace In The Valley”, “Poor Rich Man” and “In The Garden” with Wanda Peacock, pianist.
Boone, 75, died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at her home after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late James Dureau and Rosa Bell Cato Cliett, and was married to Homer Boone of Jacksonville.
She was a native of Coffee County. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse retiring from Dodge County Hospital, and was a member of the Emanuel Apostolic Church in Jacksonville.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Jim (Paula) Boone, Tom (Kam) Boone, Charles “Sambo” (Cindy) Boone, all of Jacksonville; daughters, Eloise Taylor of Falls Church, Vir., Linda (Mark) Metz of North Augusta, S.C., Janice (Rocky) Hilliard of Rhine; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were John Conley, Royce Peacock, Tim Vaughn, Ted Dopson, Jake Furney, Raymond Cato and Billy Patrick. Honorary pallbearers were Othell Harper, Frosty Boone, Jonathan Vaughn, R. C. Hulett, Thomas Furney, Tenny Hulett and Wilson Bowen.

Martha Ann Wynn Cook
Services for Martha Ann Wynn Cook of Ocilla were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at the Ocilla United Methodist Church with interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery in McRae.
Cook, 72, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla. She was the daughter of the late J.W. and Alma Bass Wynn.
She was a native of Telfair County and had lived in Ocilla since 1961. She was a retired secretary having worked for Irwin County High School for 24 years and Ben Hill-Irwin Tech for six years. She was a former cheerleading advisor and former employee of Fourth Street Interiors and the City of Ocilla. She was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Beverly Ann Cook of Ocilla and Frank Cook, Jr. of Valdosta; sister, Cynthia Shuman of Brunswick; and four grandchildren.

Dowdy, 62, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Tommy R. and Alma Harrington Yawn and was married to Hez Dowdy. She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Merle Yawn.
A native of Telfair County, she was a homemaker and a member of Rockwell Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Rene Dowdy Dorris of Rhine; sons, Michael L. Dowdy of Rhine and Steve S. Madeline Grace Hopkins
Graveside services for Madeline Grace Hopkins of Milledgeville were held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Heritage Memorial Park in Milledgeville.
Hopkins, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She was the infant daughter of Brian and Mandy Hopkins.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her brothers, Maxwell, Harrison, Grayson, and Ashton Hopkins, all of Milledgeville; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hopkins of Alamo, Patt Dyal Fulford of McRae, Tommy Fulford of Milledgeville, great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dyal of McRae, Averie Wright Martin of Panama City, Fla., and Mrs. Clyde Fulford and the late Clyde Fulford of Alamo; aunt, Christa Abbot of Milledgeville; and uncle, Austin Fulford of Milledgeville.

Kirkland, 91, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at McRae Manor Nursing Home in McRae. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Leila Mosley Bennett of Evans County and was the widow of James Kirkland.
She lived most of her life in Telfair County, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dot Joyner of McRae; granddaughter, Vicky (Ted) Buford of Jesup; great-granddaughter, Tara (Billy) Thurmon of Savannah; great-grandson, Chris (Sandy) Buford of Statesboro; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services for John E. Holloway of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at New Birth Deliverance Center with interment in Pine Acres Cemetery in McRae.

Holloway, 65, died Tuesday, June 9, 2007. He was the son of the late Eddie and Jessie B. Holloway. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ollie D. Holloway and a nephew, Alfred Eugene Burnette.
A native of Irwin County and a graduate of Monitar High School in Fitzgerald, he served in the United States Navy for 16 years until his medical discharge and moved to McRae in 1961.
Survivors include a sister, Willie Eva Burnette; niece, Judy P. Adam of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; nephew, Jimmie L. (Catherine) Burnette of McRae; adopted nephew, Dean Scott of Dothan Ala. and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Coates, 71, died Friday, June 1, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Virgil Pelow and Ethel Broughton Pelow and was married to Eugene (Buddy) Walls.
A native of Conneaut, Ohio, she resided in Alamo and was an employee of Wal-Mart.

Betty Knowles Carter
Services for Betty Knowles Carter of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Southside Baptist Church with interment in Telfair Memorial Gardens.
Carter, 67, died Thursday, June 7, 2007. She was the daughter of the late David and Lula Mae Womack Knowles and was the widow of Carl Carter.
A native of Peach County, she lived in McRae and was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Telfair Chapter 323, Order of Eastern Star and was owner/operator of Quality Cleaners.
Survivors include her son, Ricky (Liz) Carter of McRae; sister, Ann (Billy) Bossons of High Springs, Fla.; grandsons, Bryan and Brandon Roberson of McRae.
