James Eldon Boatright

James Eldon Boatright, age 59, of Alma passed away early Wednesday morning, October 27, 2004 at the V.A. Hospital in Augusta after a short illness.
He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Jesse J. Boatright.
Survivors include his mother, Goldie Hickox Boatright of Alma; one son, Jeffrey Boatright of Ontario, Canada; one daughter, Jodi Boatright of Ontario, Canada; four brothers, Richard and Joey Boatright, both of Cadwell, Georgia; Darrell Boatright and Edsel Boatright, both of Alma and five sisters, Kay Boatright and Vera Lee, both of Alma, Betty Woods and Sue Leger, both of Ft. Myers, Florida and June Robertson of Athens, Georgia.
A memorial service was hedl on Friday, October 29, 2004 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home. A private burial was held at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lynda W. Tillman

Lynda W. Tillman, age 56, of Brunswick passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Southeast Georgia Health System-Brunswick Campus.
Ms. Tillman was a native of Coffee County. She graduated from Coffee County High School in 1968 and had been a resident of Brunswick for the past 26 years. She retired from Sterling Wood Products and was employed part-time at Twin Oaks BBQ in Brunswick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Lee Waters and Florence Vera Moore Waters.
She is survived by two brothers, Dub (Darlene) Waters of Brunswick, Georgia and Bobby (Brenda) Waters of Alma; a nephew, Ken Waters of Alma; a niece, Tonia (Tommy) Hull of Brunswick, Georgia; a niece, Kimberly (James) Crosby of Alma; a nephew, Michael (Lacey) Waters of Brunswick, Georgia; a niece, Karissa (Jeremy) Norris of Alma; a nephew, Jason Waters of Brunswick, Georgia and several great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004, with the Rev. Thad Harvey officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Union Street, Brunswick, Georgia 31520.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Laws & Staff.

Eddie (E.T.) Sherwood Taylor

Eddie (E.T.) Sherwood Taylor, age 60, of Alma passed away early Monday morning, November 1, 2004, in the Bacon County Hospital after a short illness.
He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late John Maloy Taylor. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hollis Velory Taylor and a sister, Nina Gail Taylor.
Survivors include his mother, Odessa Johnson Taylor of Alma; three sisters, Wera Howell, Gwendolyn Starling and Janet Stewart, all of Alma.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell C. Lee officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Elizabeth Chapel cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Danny and Don Douglas, Waylon Johnson, Mitch Sears, Terry Wayne Johnson and Terry Sweat. All those in attendance were considered honorary escorts.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Linnie Elizabeth Medders Miles

Linnie Elizabeth Medders Miles, age 95, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2004 at the Appling Convalescent Center after an extended illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Appling County and a member of Satilla Baptist Church. Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, David D. Miles, a daughter, Mary Ester Stone and a son, David Franklin Miles.
Survivors include three daughters, Erice Mobley of Nicholls, Levaun Mann of Macon and JoAnn Waters of Hazlehurst; one sister, Oletha Taylor of Baxley; 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 35 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 26 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Donald Mobley, Kevin Waters and Rev. Chip Woodruff officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Satilla Baptist Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers was Donald Mobley, Darrell Mobley, Danny Stone, Craig Stone, Duncan Stone, Kevin Waters, Derrick Miles, Ricky Miles and Dennis Mobley. Honorary pallbearers was the staff of Appling Convalescent Center, friends and relatives in attendance.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Charleen Capps

Charleen Capps, age 77, of Nicholls passed away early Tuesday afternoon, October 12, 2004 in the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a native of Ware County. She was daughter of the late Charles (C.D.) Wesley Moore and Lucy Kirkland Moore. Charleen was preceded in death by her husband, Vilace Capps; a son, Charles Capps and a brother, Elias Moore. She was a member of Salem Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Charles D. Moore of Nicholls and two sisters, Joy Jackson of Nicholls and Faye Beverly of Waycross. Also four nephews and two nieces survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Salem Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Troy Turner officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Moore Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Floyd W. Jackson, John Raymond Jackson, Ronnie Beverly, Albert Beverly and John and Johnathan Banach.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lawton A. (Jody) Rigdon

Lawton A. (Jody) Rigdon, age 76, of Alma passed away early Friday morning at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Thomas Lawton Rigdon and Fannie Rigdon Rigdon, was married to the late LaRue Mims Rigdon. Jody was also preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Gregory Rigdon, a brother, U. V. Rigdon and a sister; Gwendolyn Douglas.
He was a member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church, had served in the U. S. Army and had worked many years with Lewis Construction of Coffee County and Buddy Hollis Construction of Appling County. Jody was also a retired farmer.
Survivors include a fiancé, Hilda Johnson of Alma; two sons; Donnie M. Rigdon of Unadilla, Georgia and Billy Ray Mims of Alma; one brother, D. P. (Prem) Rigdon of Alma; three sisters, Dolora Johnson, Velera Douglas and Verlene McDonald, all of Alma, two grandchildren, Blake Rigdon of Albany and Scott Mims of Nicholls and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Mims of Nicholls and Kaitlen Quinnelly of Brunswick.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Brown and Rev. James Ursrey officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Cody Owens, Steven and Mitchell Rigdon, Larry Conners, Chester Johnson, Tommy and Darrell Douglas and Danny McDonald. Honorary escort were, Employees of Lewis Construction Company, Buddy Hollis Construction, the Adult Sunday School Class and the staff of Dr. Singh, Dr. Baranwal and Dr. Carter.

Kenneth Bruce Moore

Kenneth Bruce Moore, age 42, of Douglas passed away suddenly Friday morning, October 8, 2004.
He was a native of Ware County but had lived in Nicholls and Douglas most of his life.
Ken was the son of the late Stanley Frances Moore. He was a member of Roxie Mae United Methodist Church and had served in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his mother; Wanda Elyse Johnson Moore of Douglas; one son, Kenneth Dusty Moore of Douglas; two brothers, Michael Shanley Moore of Alma and Patrick Timothy Moore of Douglas; nieces and nephews, Sharee Martin of Alma, Sheena Nettles of Waycross; Stanley and P.J. Moore, both of Douglas and Lauren Moore of Savannah.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Community Church with Rev. Dale Carver and Rev. Hugh Arnold officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Roxie Mae Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jamie Johnson, Gary Surrency, Ricky Colburn, Don Sikes, Ken Worth and Kit Smith. Honorary escorts were Ricky Davis and Chris Johnson.

Norine Youngblood

Norine Youngblood, age 80, of Alma, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 5, 2004 at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross after an extended illness.
She was a native of Bacon County and a daughter of the late Tom Lee and Georgia Hyers Lee. Norine was preceded in death by her husband, John (J.F) Franklin Youngblood; two sons, Terry Lee Johnson and Gary Youngblood; two sisters, Addie Blasingame, and Bessie Googe and two brothers, Leon Lee and James Lee.
She was a nurse at Bacon County Hospital where she retired after many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Youngblood and Colvin Youngblood, both of Alma; two daughters, Sharon Boatright of Baxley and Diane Anderson and husband Lee of Waycross; one brother, Monroe Lee and wife Lorene of Alma; one sister, Ocie Moore of Blackshear and nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Floyd and Rev. Mike Lee officiating.
iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Frank Boatright, Brian Boatright, Mark Anderson, Joey Tanner, Timmy Carter and Ben Boatright. Honorary pallbearers were the Staff and Residence of Twin Oaks Nursing Home.

Floyd (Buddy) Holton

Floyd (Buddy) Holton, age 77, of Alma passed away suddenly late Wednesday night, October 6, 2004 at his residence.
He was a native of Bacon County and a son of the late Willie Floyd Holton and Lydia Music Holton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Talmadge Holton.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Elliott and husband Ikey of Folkston; four brothers, Bill Holton of Alma, Monroe Holton, Fred Holton, Ronnie Holton, all of Florida; one sister, Willie Mae Lewis of Alma and three grandchildren, Arcola, Nathaniel and Eileen Elliott.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Teary Barnes officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Nathaniel Elliott, Victor Smith, Shawn Lott and Daniel Burkette. All those in attendance were considered honorary escorts.

Margaret Cannon Carter

Margaret Cannon Carter, age 79, of Waycross passed away Sunday morning, September 12, 2004 at her residence.
She was a native of Blackshear but was raised in Nicholls and moved to Waycross 12 years ago and a daughter of the late Julius Ira Cannon and Marie Yawn Cannon. She was married to the late Otis Walter (Junior) Carter, Jr. Ms. Carter was retired from John S. Swisher and Sons after 43 years of service.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rudy Davis, five sisters, Eula Mae Cannon Rewis, Doris Cannon Varnedore, Hazel Cannon Vickers, Lois Cannon Burkett and Kathleen Cannon Bagley and four brothers, J.M. Cannon, Terrell Felton Cannon, Jennings Bradley (J.B.) Cannon and James Ira Cannon.
Survivors include a son, Tommy (Thomas) Carter and wife, Debra of Jacksonville; two daughters, Sylvia Carter Davis of Jacksonville; Sheila Carter Crews and husband, Merle of Waycross and a sister, Sug (Iris) Mills of Douglas. Nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Music Funeral Home Chapel in Waycross with Rev. Richard Jeffers and Rev. Kenneth Cannon officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Oakland cemetery in Waycross.
Pallbearers were Ashley Crews, Darrell Shields, Jimbo Shubert, Ashley Vickers, Chuck Carter, David Farington, Lee Ragans and James Shubert.
