Mary Ethel Hall
Mary Ethel Hall, 82, of Alma passed away late Tuesday, January 19, 2005 at the Bacon Co. Hospital after a short illness.
She was a native of Jeff Davis Co. but had lived in Bacon Co. most of her life. She was daughter of the late Jasper Willis Hand and Missouri Ellis Hand. Ms. Hall was preceded in death by her husband James W. Hall; a daughter, Eva Grace Hall; a brother, Perry Hand; five sisters, Mattie Spell, Ruth Mullis, Abby Livingston, Sally Quall and Grace Taylor and a granddaughter, Heather Renee Hall.
She was a retired dietician from the B. C. Elementary School Lunchroom and a member of The First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Hall and wife Melba of Jacksonville, Wayne Hall and wife Teresa of Alma; a daughter, Patricia Davis and husband Bill of Ethelsville, AL; a sister, Ovella Hinely of Fitzgerald; a brother, Willis Wright Hand of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Ron Hall, Jr. of Orlando, Jason and Brian Hall of Jacksonville, DeDe Byrd, Lindee Dixon of Blackshear, Nikki Martin of Alma, Teke Dixon of Waycross and Mike Davis of Ehelsville, AL and nine great grandchildren, Mara and Zach Byrd, Daulton and Anslee Dixon, all of Blackshear, Kayla and Abby Dixon of Waycross, Cadee and Janee Hall of Orlando and Katelyn Hall of Jacksonville.
Funeral services was held Friday, January 21, 2005 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Johnson, Rev. Teke Dixon and Rev. Tommy Hinely officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Watson Anderson, Andy Hutto, Jessee Belle, Linton Carter, Quillion Taylor and R.T. Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Jason, Brian and Ronnie Hall, Jr., Michael Davis, Andy Dixon, Doug Martin and Michael Byrd. All others in attendance were considered very special friends.

Winnie B. Christmas
Winnie B. Christmas, age 92, of Alma passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at the Shand’s Hospital in Lake City, Florida after a short illness.
He was a native of Appling County but had lived most of his life in Bacon County. Winnie was the son of the late J. C. Christmas and Bertha Mae Lynch Christmas and was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Christmas; son, James (Buddy) Fentriss Christmas; brother, Curtis Christmas; two sisters, Vernie Thomas and Lois Bullard and a grandson, Jerry Dewayne Christmas. He was also a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenda Watson and husband Bob of Lake City, FL; one daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Christmas of Bartow, FL; one brother; James Gerald Christmas of Alma; one sister, Azilene Christmas of Alma; a special friend, Terry Griffin of Alma; five grandchildren: James Fentriss Christmas, Jr., Judy Christmas, Renee Guttierrez, Robby Watson, Brooke Watson and also two great grandchildren: Tyler Lashley and Clayton Wilson.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 22, 2005 at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. David Miller, Rev. Jr. Hayes and Rev. James Wilcox officiating.

Eddie Harris
Eddie Harris, age 69 of Alma passed away early Wednesday night, January 12, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a native of Polk Co. FL, but had lived in Bacon County the past six years. Eddie was the son of the late Hance H. Harris and Essie Mae Barnes Harris and preceded in death by a sister, Addie Mae Collins. He was in the U. S. Army where he served in the Korean Conflict and a retired welder in the Local # 630 in Flordia.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Gail King Harris of Alma; three sons, James Eddie Harris of Orlando, FL; Hance Harris of Palatka, FL and Greg Hall of Fort Pierce, FL; one daughter, Rhonda Kane of Orlando, FL and two sisters, Lillian Tomberlin of Baxley and Nadine M. Byrd of Bristol. Also seven grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2005 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with eulogy given by Jim Byrd. iIntermentfollowed in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Hance Harris, Glen Crosby, Steve Byrd, Jeff Cox, Bart DeJesus and Ronnie Tomberlin. All those in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Madalyn Minor
Madalyn Minor, age 86, of Alma passed away early Wednesday morning, January 12, 2005 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a native of Polk County Tenn., but had lived in Bacon County most of her life. Madalyn was the daughter of the late William L. England and Josephine Postelle England and was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Minor. She was a retired School Teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son Elliott Minor of Albany and one daughter, Lyn M. King of Alma. Also five grandchildren and six great- grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 14, 2005 at from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Roger Taylor, Buster Meeks, Jeffery Lovell, Conrad Minor, Bernard Minor and Emory Minor. Honorary pallbearers were Bacon County Retired Teachers, members of the historical Society and the Friendship Sunday School Class of 1st Baptist Church.

Mary Lou Taylor
Mary Lou Taylor, age 77, of 16th Street Alma passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick after a short illness.
She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late James Charlton Douglas and Aliff Taylor Douglas and was also preceded in death by her husband Preston R. Taylor. Mary Lou was retired from Oxford after 34 years of employment and was a member of The First Church Of The Nazarene.
Survivors include three daughters; Sandra Wilson and husband Dailey, Gwen Evans and husband J.B. and Cheryl Johnson and husband Johnny, all of Alma; one sister, Allie Johnson of Alma and five grandchildren, Rodney Wilson of Alma, Wendy Evans Rogers of Columbia, SC, Lori Anderson of Nicholls, Leslie Douglas and Marci Taylor, both of Alma. Also, ten great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Barth and Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Carroll Lee Waters
Carroll Lee Waters, age 67, of Nicholls passed away Monday night, January 10, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County; but, had lived in Nicholls since 1967. He was son of the late C. L. Waters and was also preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Dale Waters. Carroll was a retired truck driver and a member of The Nicholls United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Coley Waters of Alma; his wife, Catherine Hutcheson Waters of Nicholls; three sons, Ricky Carroll Waters and wife Cindy of Nicholls, Randy Lee Waters of Douglas and Russell Anthony Waters of Millwood; one daughter, Sandy Overstreet and husband Bennie of Douglas; one brother, Billy Payne Waters of Lake Oconee and five sisters; Margaret Boatright of Alma, Mary Sue Lightsey, Gwenelle Lightsey both of Jesup, Betty Wilson of Savannah and Debra Medders of Alma. Also, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 12, 2005 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Carver and Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

John Emory Taylor
John Emory Taylor, age 73, of Brunswick passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005 in the Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus.
He was a native of Alma and had been a resident of Brunswick most of his life. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy, Class of 1950. He retired from Hercules, Inc. after 41 years. Mr. Taylor was a former Chairman of the Glynn County Commission. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 15, 2005 from the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Parrish and Rev. Silas Aldridge officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Palmetto Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Tusha Taylor of Brunswick; daughters, Edwina Aldridge of Darien and Johnette Fraser of Brunswick; son, John Christopher Taylor of Brunswick; grandchildren, Patrick Aldridge of St. Simons Island, Pam Aldridge of Darien, Derek and Josey Reynolds, both of Brunswick; his mother, Willa Mae Brazell of Brunswick and three great grandchildren.
Margaret M. Hodges
Margaret M. Hodges, age 87, of Marianna, Florida passed away Monday, January 3, 2005 at Jackson Hospital. She was a native of Coffee County.
Survivors include her children, Wendell Hodges of Chipley, FL, Douglas Hodges of Waycross, David Hodges of Panama City, FL, Samuel Hodges of Marianna, FL, Janice Williams of Kynesville, FL, Faye Hodges of Marianna, FL, Pearl Smith of Sardis and Phyllis Chance of Marianna, FL; one brother, Jake Hersey of Palatka, FL; 31 grandchildren and 74 great grandchildren.

Kitty Marie Reynolds, age 43, of Alma passed away Friday, January 14, 2005 at the Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick after a short illness.
She was a native of Bacon County and was preceded in death by her father, Ray Hardwick.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Reynolds of Alma; her mother, Willene Lord Hardwick of Alma; two brothers; Marvin (Beaver) Hardwick and Curtis Hardwick, both of Alma and one sister, Charlotte Waters of Alma. Also several nieces and nephews survive.

Wilma Lee Garner Courson, 73, of the Bickley Community passed away Sunday morning, January 9, 2005 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was a native of Bacon County but had resided most of her life in Ware County. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Rilla Davis Garner and was preceded in death by two brothers, Ward Garner and Howard Garner. She was an active member of the Bickley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Dewitt Courson of the Bickley Community; her children, Joyce Hickox (husband Willie) of Waycross, Sue Carpenter of Augusta, Glynn Courson, Mitchell Courson, Karen Nichols (husband David Eric), Brian Courson (wife Sherrie), all of the Bickley Community, Denise Carden (husband Ty) of Blackshear; three brothers, Dewey Garner of Alma, Lloyd Garner of Portsmouth, VA, Hubert Garner of Auburndale, FL; 15 grandchildren, Rodney Cothern, Gina Anderson (husband Scott), Brad Hickox, Brett Hickox, Alison Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter, Vicky Howard (husband Gentry), Crystal Detorre (husband Joey), Daniel Nichols, Amber Boatright, T.
