R.L. ‘Mac’ McDonald
R.L. “Mac” McDonald, age 76, of Crawfordville, Florida passed away Friday, September 23, 2005 in Crawfordville, Florida.
Mr. McDonald was retired from McKenzie Tank Lines as a Safety and Personnel Director. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, R. Lowell McDonald.
Survivors include one son, John “Larry” McDonald and wife Patsy Clark; two grandchildren, Jason Daniel McDonald and wife Meagan and Cameron Michael McDonald; one great grandson, Jason Daniel McDonald, Jr. and two brothers, Thurman McDonald and wife Verline and James McDonald and wife Gertrude.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2005 at 6-9 p.m. at the McDonald residence (95 Montgomery Drive) in Crawfordville, Florida.

Clifton Bryce Murray
Clifton Bryce Murray, age 15, of Nicholls Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 01, 2006, at his residence in Nicholls Georgia.
Bryce, an Eighth Grade Student of East Coffee Middle School was born October 28, 1990 in Coffee County, Georgia.
Survivors include father Dale Murray of Nicholls; mother, Renee Mobley of Nicholls; stepfather, Brad Mobley of Nicholls; brother, Mathew Murray of Nicholls; stepbrother, Brandon Mobley of Nicholls and grandparents, Harland and Viannah Murray of Nicholls and Odessa Streat of Nicholls and the late A.C. Streat.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 03, 2006 at the Holiness Camp Ground Church near Nicholls Georgia with Rev. Donnie Kirkland and Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating.
Marlon Smith, Soloist sang, “Vacation” with Tina Kirkland, pianist providing soft music for the prelude and postlude; also taped selections of “Heaven” and “When I Get Where I’m Going” were provided by family. Burial followed in the Jowers Chapel cemetery in Axson, Georgia.
Active pallbearers were Mathew Carter, Justin Thomas, Steve Boyette, Brando Meeks, Kevin Stone and Carmen Rigdon. Honorary pallbearers were Eighth Grade Student Classmates and Faculty of East Coffee Middle School.

Joseph Wayne Brigman, Sr.
Joseph Wayne Brigman, Sr. age 58, of Blackshear passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon, January 01, 2006 at the Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was a native of Bacon County and lived many years there before moving to Pierce County in 1970. He was preceded in death by his parents W.F. “Dub” Brigman, Jr. and Cassie Peacock Brigman.
Mr. Brigman retired from CSX Railroad as an electrician. After his retirement he returned to school and received his Bachelors degree from Valdosta State and became a school teacher. He was formerly employed with the Pierce County board of education as a teacher at the Pierce County Middle School. For many years he coached the middle school football, baseball and girls softball teams at the middle school. He was also very active in the Blackshear Tiger Football program where he coached for 19 years. He was also the former “Voice of the Bears” on the radio.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star for Valor and a Purple Heart.
He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear.
He is survived by his wife Vickie Mattox Brigman of Blackshear; a daughter Mysti Walker and husband James of Waycross; a son Joseph Wayne Brigman, Jr. and wife Jessica Paige of Atlanta; a brother Wanice Brigman and wife Rhonda of Alma and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 05, 2006 at First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were former players.

James Ruben Shuemake
James Ruben Shuemake, age 68, of Alma passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville after an extended illness.
He was a native of Mayo, Florida but had lived most of his life in Bacon County. James was son of the late Johnnie Shuemake and Minnie Ryals Shuemake and preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Shuemake and a brother, A.J. Shuemake.
Survivors include a son, James Earl Shuemake of Alma; one daughter, Chalnell Shuemake of Alma; two sisters, Minnie Lane and Betsy Shuemake, both of Alma and a special friend, Phyllis Hess of Alma.
A joint graveside service was held for James Ruben Shuemake and a memorial for A.J. Shuemake Friday, January 6, 2006 at Rose Hill cemetery with Rev. Junior Hayes officiating.

Joyce Wheeler
Joyce Wheeler, age 76, of Alma, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at her residence.
She was born in Lansing, Michigan but had lived in Alma since 1955. She was daughter of the late Harold Adam Clarke, Sr. and Dora Lora Birman Clarke and was also preceded in death by a brother, Col. Harold Adam Clarke, Jr. and two sisters, Gala Fisher and Anita Duer. Joyce was a retired music teacher.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsena Boatright and husband Darrell of Alma; two brothers, Bob Clarke of Louisiana and David Clarke of Texas and three sisters, Betty Potter of Michigan, Martha Oman of Indiana and Jan Beattie of Ohio.
Graveside services were held Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Rose Hill cemetery with Rev. Mark Barth and Rev. Craig Rikard officiating. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to The Joyce Wheeler Music Scholarship Fund that has been set up. Please make your donations to the Alma Exchange Bank.

Orabelle Lott Boatright
Orabelle Lott Boatright, age 87, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Bacon County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A native of Bacon County, she had lived in Pierce County for most of her adult life. She was a homemaker and worked alongside her late husband, Winnie B. Boatright, on the family farm. She was a member of the Mershon Methodist Church and was also preceded in death by her parents, Joe J. and Dorothy Douglas Lott, her stepmother, Clara Lewis Lott, her son, Donald Boatright, a sister, Raynell Parm and two brothers, Powell Lott and Joe Lott, Jr.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Lawrence Bennett of Alma, Ann and Andy Ezell of Knoxville, TN and Jan and Doug Ware of Mershon, a daughter-in-law, Claudia Boatright of Blackshear; a sister, Edith Edgerton of Tarpon Springs, FL; a brother, Darrell David Lott of Grafton, ND; a sister-in-law, Ora Lee Jones of Blackshear; a special friend, Carol Rucks of Baxley; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Boatright were held January 10, 2006 from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel. iIntermentfollowed in the Martha Memorial Cemetery.

Ray Franklin Faulkenberry
Ray Franklin Faulkenberry, 72 or Kershaw, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston after a lengthy illness.
Born on June 5, 1933, in Kershaw, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Hoyt and Jeanette Thompson Faulkenberry. He graduated from Berry College, Rome, Georgia, and Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia.
He served his country in Germany in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Mr. Faulkenberry worked as a consultant with Southwestern Publishing Company, publishers of accounting and business texts. He then was Business Manager and Finacial Aid Manager of University of South Carolina at Lancaster and taught accounting part-time for 30 years. Mr. Faulkenberry practiced as a certified public accountant. He was appointed by the late Governor Carroll Campbell, Jr. to the South Carolina Accountancy Board for two terms.
Mr. Faulkenberry served on the boards of Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster County Economic Development Corporation, Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce, Lancaster County Convalescent Home and Lancaster County Council on Aging. Mr. Faulkenberry was a charter member of the Kershaw Rotary Club in which he was chosen as a Paul Harris Fellow, and had previously been a member of the Lancaster Rotary Club for 20 years. He served on the Board of Directors of Wachovia Bank from 1976 to 2004 and also served on the Board of Directors of the Kershaw Chamber of Commerce and was past president. He was chosen “Citizen of the Year”. In February, 2005 for the Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of Kershaw First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years of the Fallaw Sunday School Class and was currently serving as church treasurer. He also served on the building committee for the new Ministry Center which was completed in 2003.
Mr. Faulkenberry was involved in numerous community projects such as Kershaw Christmas Parade and Kershaw Spring-A-Thon.
He was especially proud of a Rotary Club project that involved tutoring students at the Kershaw Elementary School.
Surviving are his wife, Roslyn Glosson Faulkenberry, two daughters, Dr. Ann (Dr. Charles) Drummond of Birmingham, Alabama and Ramona (Al) Poston of Kershaw, South Carolina and four grandchildren, Chloe Drummond, Sean Drummond, Joseph Poston and Kristen Poston Mayer. He is also survived by his sister, Myrtis Faulkenberry Sowell of Kershaw and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 22, 2005 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in South Carolina with Rev. Bryant D. Fersner officiating. Burial followed in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mary Osie Hawes Madison
Mary Osie Hawes Madison, age 65, of Cartertown Road, Alma, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2006 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a lengthy illness.
The morning of January 7, 2006, God sent an angel from heaven to call home our beloved love one home to rest after an extended illness through much endurance. Sis Madison was born on November 21, 1940 in Washington, Georgia to Delica Wilkes and Eddie Hawes.
Sis Mary met Johnny Lee Madison, Sr. and soon after they become one on March 15, 1960. To this union six children were born. Sis Mary was a housewife for many years. She was employed by Oxford South as a machine operator with many years of dedicated service.
Sis Madison worshiped with ST. James and Union Chapel Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Luicious C. Rogers. She served faithfully in her duties as an usher and kitchen committee worker until her health failed. She was preceded in death by two daughters and 1 son.
Sis Mary was a well known “mother figure” for many children. She is very much appreciated for her acts of love and kindness. Everyone will always remember her as “Aunt Mary”.
Sister Mary leaves to cherish her memories husband, Deacon Johnny Madison; one daughter, Mary O. Madison of Alma; two sons, Johnny, Jr. and wife Alice Madison of Alma and Morris and wife Michelle (Also known as “Chelle”, the beloved care taker of Ms. Madison. She is also affectionately known as the “Angel” at the point of need many, many times.) of Alma; one stepdaughter, Ida Jean and husband Tracey Freeman of Ocilla; two sisters, Fannie May Hayes and Yvonne Martin, both of Jesup; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Madison, Jr. of Pompano Beach, Florida and Monroe Madison, Sr. of Fairfax, South Carolina; seven sisters-in-law, Alice (Joe) Taylor of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Mrs. Willie B. Kelly of Blackshear, Ida White of Alma, Betty (J.C.) Battle of Blakely, Rosie (Arthur) Hargraves and Linda Johnson, both of Newark, New Jersey and Velma (Robert) Floyd of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The family will be receiving friends at their home on Catertown Road in Alma. The viewing will be held at Rainge Memorial Chapel in Blackshear on Friday, January 13, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, January 14 at the First African Missionary Baptist Church in Alma at 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the First African Missionary Baptist Church in Alma. Order of service will be processional, “When the Saints go Marching In”; presiding, Pastor Tobias Linder; invocation, ST. James, co-pastor; solo, Deacon Charles Stagger; old testament, Minister Keith Brinson; new testament, Minister Helen Stagger; solo, Pastor Tobias Linder; tribute, “As a Friend”-Janie Henderson and eulogy, Pastor L.C. Rogers.

Preston S. Parkerson
Preston S. Parkerson, age 48, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2006.
Born in Jacksonville, FL on May 16, 1957 to Lowell and Lataine Parkerson. Mr. Parkerson was the founder of Jacksonville Lymphedema Clinic. He was a member of American Society of Clinical Pathologists, North American Vodder Association of Lymphatic Therapists and the Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals.
Survivors include his mother, Lataine Beauregard; five brothers, Bengie Parkerson, Troy Parkerson (Kathi), Lynn Meeks (Tiffany), Michael Parkerson and Billy Parkerson; three sisters, Janice Stutts (Kevin), Beverly Mixon and Kathy Morlan; close friends, Michael Powell, Holly Derossett, Linda Heinz, Choyea Reddish and Anthony Helms; seven nephews, B.J., Jeremy, Shane, Ridge, Grady, Andy and Fletcher; eight nieces, Mandi, Shannon, Brooke, Breanna, Brandi, Mallory, Kelly, and Cassie and 11 great nieces and nephews, Katelynn, Dalton, Alexis, Austin, Madison, Troy, Kyler, Kayge, Kayci, Paige and Cheiss.
