Tyler James Carter, infant son of Charles Wayne Carter, Jr. (Chuck) and Melisa Deen Carter was stillborn on August 4, 2006. He is survived by his parents and one brother, Matthew., paternal grandparents; Charles and Pam Carter, maternal grand parents; Lynn and Donna Deen and Sharon Deen, paternal great-grandparents; James and Marie Carter, Donald and Jannelle Courson and the late Daniel B. (Sarge) Reese, maternal great-grand parents; Ronald and Ruth Crowley, John and Stella Dillingham and the late Hollis Deen. Also, several aunts and uncles survive.
A chapel service was conducted at Crosby Funeral Home Monday August 7, 2006. with Rev. Buddy Whatley and Rev. R. B. Gaskin officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were The Department of Drivers Services Employees. All others in attendance were considered as honorary escort.

Robert L. (Bob) Brown
Robert L. (Bob) Brown, age 85, of Middleburg, Florida died suddenly Tuesday, August 1, 2006 in Orange Park. He was a native of Hendersonville, Tenessee but had lived most of his life in the Middleburg, Florida area. Bob was son of the late Richard Lee Brown and Fannie Harderson Brown, was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Brown, retired after many years with the Seaboard Coastline Rail Road and was a member of The Middleburg First Assembly of God Church. Bob was also a veteran of WW II while serving in the U. S. Army
Survivors include his wife; Ruby Cothren Brown of Middleburg, four sons; Richard Brown of Middleburg, Lonnie Brown of St. Augustine, Robert Brown of Jacksonville and Larry Ragsdale of Middleburg, a daughter; Mable Williams of Atlanta, a brother, Monroe Brown of Hendersonville, Tenessee, three sisters; Hazel Reains and Violet Hudnell both of Nashville, Tenessee and Sister Denny of Cotton Town, Tenessee. Also 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Tenth St. Church of God with Rev. Charles E. Clark and Rev. Mark Grimes officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were; Larry Ragsdale, Brad O’Donnell, Richard Brown II, Kevin Brown, Danny Bazemore, Eddie Varnadore, and Mark Reains. All others in attendance were considered as honorary escorts.

Edith B. Jones
Edith B. Jones, age 93, of Alma passed early Monday morning August 7, 2006 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after a short illness. She was a native of Appling County, but had lived in Bacon and Pierce county most of her life. Edith was the daughter of the late Charles Jackson Barber and Kedie Sweat Barber and preceded in death by her husband, Archie Jackson Jones, five brothers; Talmadge, Ward, Lloyd, Broward, and Wainly Barber, two sisters; Eva B. Wheeler and Odessa Taylor. She was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Barbara Poole of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Loren Bryant, Rev. Lowell Lee, Rev. Jimmy Thrift, Rev. Wainly Barber, Jr. and Rev. Ronnie Barber officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m.

Jimmy Lee “Jim Bo” Taylor
Mr. Jimmy Lee Taylor, age 78, of Alma passed away on Friday, August 4, 2006, at the Twin Oakes Nursing Home in Alma. Mr. Taylor, a native of Bacon County, was born May 18, 1928, son of the late Kib Leon and Annie Lee Hayes Taylor. He was preceded in death by sister, Minnie Lee Streat and brothers, C. L. Taylor, Alfred Taylor, Albert Taylor and Bill Taylor. Survivors include: nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were held, Monday, August 7, 2006 at the Wolf Pit cemetery near Alma with Rev. Junior Hayes officiating. Active pallbearers were: Roger Davis, Michael Taylor, Bubba Davis, Tuck Taylor, Kenny Carter and Tony Watts.

Joyce Rimes
Joyce Rimes, age 73, of Alma passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native of Logansville, Georgia, but had lived in Bacon County most of her life. Joyce was daughter of the late Troy Blasingame and Addie Lee Blasingame and was preceded in death by a grandson, James Preston Rimes III. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alma.
Survivors include one son, James Preston Rimes Jr. of Alma; one daughter, Jeannie Boatright and husband Joe of Alma; one brother, Harry Blasingame of Adrian and one sister, Juanita Morris of Baxley. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Carver, Rev. Richard Johnson and Rev. Mark Barth officiating.

Sidney Wendell Wilcox
Sidney Wendell Wilcox, age 75, of Nicholls passed away on Thursday, July 06, 2006 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia.
Mr. Wilcox, a native of Coffee County was born June 08, 1931, son of the late Albert Sidney and Ada Burkett Wilcox. He is the widower of the late Hazelene Kirkland Wilcox and a retired farmer.
Survivors include sons, Sidwin Delnee (Jennifer Kathryn) Wilcox and Kelnee Kirkland of Nicholls; brothers, Albert Foye Wilcox of Dowling Park, Florida and Emmitt Wilcox of Anderson, IN and several nieces.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 09, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Saginaw Baptist Church with Rev. L.G. Aldridge officiating. Ashley Davis and Iris McElhaney sang “Rock of Ages” and soloist, Ashley Davis sang “Sweet Beulah Land” with Iris McElhaney, pianist. Burial followed in the Saginaw Baptist Church cemetery near Nicholls.
Active pallbearers were Charlie Simmons, Scotty Thomas, Rod Holton, Mickey Burnam, John Carver and Ashley Davis.

Magdalen Anna Ritchie
Magdalen Anna Ritchie, age 98, of Alma passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in Decatur, Georgia after a short illness.
She was a native of Wilkes Barre, PA and had lived many years in Terre Haute, Indiana and had lived in Alma since 1973. She was daughter of the late Paul Gray and Hedeiwga Gousetia Gray and was also preceded in death by five brothers, John, Victor, Stephen, Albert and Tony Gray and four sisters, Nellie Lory, Mary Meadlo, Frances Headlee and Anna Lett. Megadalen was a member of St. Raymonds Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary F. Ricketson of Alma; a granddaughter, Diane Mitchell of Decatur and a great granddaughter, Olivia Jane Mitchell of Decatur. Also several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at St. Raymonds Catholic Church with Father Paul O’Connell. iIntermentfollowed in Douglas Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

John William Bagley, Sr.
John William Bagley, Sr., age 52, of Alma passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006 after an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Allard I. Bagley and Essie Rigby Bagley. John was a carpenter for many years and attended The Abundant Life Family Worship Center. Survivors include his wife, Earlene Faulk Bagley of Alma; a son, John William Bagley, Jr. and wife Catherine of Jesup; two daughters, Connie Peace and husband Scotty of Patterson and Cristie Griffin and husband Greg of Alma; three brothers, Bobby Bagley, Jimmy Bagley and Benny Hatten, all of Alma; a sister, Lynn Stewart of Alma and four grandchildren, Lindsie and Trevor Peace, both of Jesup, Graycen Griffin of Alma and Grant Bagley of Jesup.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Pet Hayes, Rev. John Bagley, Jr. and Rev. Billy Mac Dyal officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Old Pine Grove Church Cemetery.

Gladys Rigby Douglas
Gladys Rigby Douglas, age 86, of Pensacola, Florida passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
She was a native of Laurens County, Georgia but had live most in life in Bacon County until moving to Florida in April 1998. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Rigby and Virgie Naomi Gay Rigby. Gladys was preceded in death by her stepmother, Jessie Rigby, husbands, Thomas Fulton Bagley and Hulen Douglas, two sons, Roy and Paul Bagley, daughter, Patsy Bagley, two brothers, Bee and Bo Rigby, two sisters, Bessie Dennis and Essie Dee Bagley.
Survivors include one son, Billy Bagley and wife Sarah of Temple, Georgia; two daughters, Annette Bagley Rigdon and husband Preston of Cusseti, Georgia, Jackie D. Andresen and husband Kirk of Pensacola, Florida; four half sisters, Kay Youngblood of Nicholls, Brenda Williams of Douglas, Linda Shumans of Denton and Carolyn Taylor of Dawson; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 21, 2006 from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest McCarty officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Old Pine Grove Cemetery.

Thomas Jefferson ‘T. J.’ Boyett
Mr. Thomas Jefferson “T. J.” Boyett, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he was a farmer but had also been a member and former board member of the National Farmers Organization. Mr. Boyett was a member and deacon at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church but had also served as a deacon at Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church, Providence Primitive Baptist Church and Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late James Lester and Carrie Alma Pierce Boyett and was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Lee, and also a brother, Earl Boyett.
Survivors are his wife, Vera Davis Boyett of Blackshear; a daughter, Geraldine “Dinky” Morris of Blackshear; a son and daughter-n-law, James M. “Skeeter” and Rhonda Boyett of Memphis, TN; three sisters, Moretta Lee of Fernandina Beach, FL, Jennie Lee of Alma and Geneva Bacon of Jesup; five brothers, Milford and wife Nella Faye Boyett, Winston and Iris Boyett and Willis “Pap” and wife Betty Boyett all of Fernandina Beach, Sam and wife Carolyn Boyett of Blackshear and Charlie Boyett of Hilliard, FL; a sister-n-law, Josephine Boyett of Blackshear; a brother-n-law, J. Walter Lee of Waycross; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Boyett were held Saturday morning, July 22, 2006, at from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Randall C. Vonier
Randall C. Vonier, Sr. age 75, of Alma passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness.
He was a native of Thomas County, but had lived in Bacon County since 1967. He was son of the late Hugh Moore Vonier and Lessie Mae Gandy Vonier and was also preceded in death by his stepmother Rachael Cone Vonier.
Randall was a member of Masonic Lodge # 369 of Thomas County, a charter president of the Bacon County Exchange Club, past District President of the Exchange Club. Randall had retired as Executive Director of the Bacon County U.S.D.A. Office where he had received The National Award of Excellence in Agriculture. He as also a member of the Alma First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Underwood Vonier of Alma; two sons, Randy Vonier and wife Trudy of Alma and Scott Vonier and wife Sally of Atlanta; one daughter, Vicki Hyers and husband Gene of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Ronald B. Vonier and wife Evelyn and Thilmon L. Vonier and wife Carolyn, all of Thomas County; one sister, Margaret Sawada of Young Harris, Georgia; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 2006 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Johnson and Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Pinelawn Cemetery.
