Gary Twain Johnson, age 61, of Alma passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006 in the Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County. Twain was preceded in death by a brother, Garwayne Johnson.
Survivors include his parents, Andrew (Bud) Johnson and Lavada Taylor Johnson of Alma; two brothers, Waylon Johnson of Alma and Wendell Johnson of Baxley; three sisters, Kim Johnson of Savannah, Donna Johnson and JoAnnie Johnson, both of Alma and also several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 25, 2006 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell Lee officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery.

Jeffery Jerome Taylor
Jeffery Jerome Taylor, age 22, of Alma passed away suddenly Friday, July 21, 2006.
He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Hollis Taylor. Jeffery was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and The Bacon County Young Farmers Association.
Survivors include his parents, Jerome and Judy Joiner Taylor; paternal grandmother, Vera Wanck Taylor, all of Alma; maternal grandparents, Spencer and Doodle Joiner of Nicholls and one brother, Jim Taylor of Alma. Also several aunts, uncles and cousins survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 24, 2006 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Ross, Rev. Lowell Lee and Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. A poem was read by Holly Taylor. The interment followed in Wesley Chapel Church cemetery on Hwy 203.
Active pallbearers were Quinn and Phillip Music, Travis Chaney, Dane Martin, Cody Johnson and Jessie Thompson. Billy Duwain Barber
Billy Duwain Barber, age 72, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Baptist Medical Center after a short illness.
He was a native of Bacon County and had lived in California, Alaska and Jacksonville, Florida since 1994. Billy was a retired welder. He was son of the late William Harvey Barber and was also preceded in death by two sons and a sister.
He is survived by his mother, Edna Douglas Barber Taylor of Alma and two half brothers, Tommy Grimes of Hunnington, CA and James Grimes of ReSeda, CA. Also several grandchildren survive.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 21, 2006 in Rose Hill cemetery with a eulogy delivered by James Fairclothe.

Barbara Ryles
Barbara Ryles, age 57, of Alma passed away Monday, July 10, 2006 in Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a short illness.
She was native of Bacon County. Barbara was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Archie Smith and Louise Barber Smith of Alma; a son, Sabe Ryles and wife Leigh Anne of Forsyth; a daughter, Natasha Ryles of Atlanta; a brother, Larry Smith of Alma and two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Charlie Ryles of Forsyth.

Ricky Dwayne Evers, Sr.
Ricky Dwayne Evers, Sr., age 47, of Nicholls passed away suddenly at his residence Thursday, July 13, 2006.
He was born in Albany, but had lived in Nicholls most of his life. He was son of the late William (Bill) Evers and Jessie Mae Taylor Evers and was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Evers, Sr. Ricky worked several years with Douglas Enterprise as a press operator.
Survivors include his wife, Dorinda Gail Snipes Evers of Nicholls; two sons, Rickey Evers, Jr. and S. Chad Evers of Nicholls; two daughters, Kristen Snipes and Shirley Nicolle Evers, both of Nicholls; two brothers, Jerry Evers of Berlin, Georgia and Kevin Evers of Conway, AK; three sisters, Shirley Turner of Douglas, Tanya Dismuke and Tasha Herrick, both of Lyons and one grandson, Kaleb Snipes of Nicholls.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 16, 2006. at Harvest Renewal Church with Rev. Billy Mac Dyal officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Dry Creek Cemetery.

Minnie Lee Dyal
Minnie Lee Dyal, age 85, of Alma; passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the St. Vincents Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness.
She was a native of Appling Co. and had lived in Bacon County most of her life. She was daughter of the late John Milton Dixon and Nellie Deliah Byrd Dixon and was also preceded in death by her husbands Tommie Dyal and Warnie Lee Dyal, Sr.; seven brothers, Doyle, Loyd, Floyd, Dennis, J. M., Roy and Tolly Dixon and two sisters, Linnie Belle Dyal and Dorthy Tanner. Minnie Lee was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Edgar Dyal and wife Laverne R. of Alma, Roscoe Dyal and wife Carol V. of Parker, CO, Johnny Wayne Dyal of Aurora, CO, Donnie Ray Dyal and wife Jane R. and Eugene Dyal and wife Sherry S. of Alma; four step-sons, John and Freddy Paul Dyal of Nicholls, Warnie L. Dyal, Jr. and Billy Mac Dyal of Alma; a stepdaughter, Mary Lee Greer of Nicholls and two sister-in-laws, Eula Dixon of Alma and Mary Lou Dixon of Tampa.

Mary Bush Hall
Mary Marguerite Bush Hall, age 84, of Savannah passed away Monday, July 10, 2006 in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A native of Savannah, she was the daughter of the late Freeman Otis Bush and Idella Ricks Bush. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Walsteen McCord “Bill” Hall, Sr. She was a long-time member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church in Savannah where she was a member of the Myrtice Coursey Sunday School Class and the Dott Lott Mission Study Group. She was named Ardsley Park Mother of the Year in 2004. After her husband’s retirement from Union Camp, Mr. and Mrs. Hall built a home on Hurricane Creek in Alma, Georgia, and lived there for almost a decade where they belonged to the First Baptist Church, grew blueberries, and entertained their grandchildren. She has been living at Savannah Commons for 10 years where she participated in the activities of the community and won several awards for her paintings.
Mrs. Hall worked for various Savannah area businesses over the years and retired from civil service at Hunter Army Airfield. Mrs. Hall was an only child whose father built homes around the southeast, requiring the family to move several times a year when she was young. Her ambitions in life were to have a large family with deep roots and to finish her education, cut short when she had to leave school to support her family after her father became ill. She accomplished both: first having six children then graduating from Savannah Vocational School in 1965 as Valedictorian and giving the commencement address for her class. She continued taking various classes, seminars and workshops throughout her life and especially enjoyed her Bible study and art courses.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her children, Nancy Hall and Len Shelton of Atlanta, Lynn and Joe Stalnaker, Vicky and Elder Richard Davis, Kathleen and Walsteen M. “Buddy” Hall Jr., Caro Hall and Terry Black, all of Savannah, and Mary Bee “Beebe” Hall and Michael Brown of High Point, NC; her grandchildren, Suzanne Smith and Brett Bertz of Atlanta, Wayne and Abby Smith of Savannah, Joseph Stalnaker of Atlanta, Sarah Stalnaker and adopted granddaughter Marlene Sickler of Bluffton, SC, Geneva Hall-Shelton and Carlos Almedia of Atlanta, Seth and Joshua Black of Savannah, McCord (III), Phillip and Edward Hall of Savannah, and Skyler and Jordan Brown of High Point, NC, and her great-grand children, Madeleine and Alexander “Sander” Bertz of Atlanta, and London and Claire Smith of Savannah. Other family members include her brothers- and sisters-in-law in Alma, E.D. and Regina Hall, Margarete and Howard Holland, Curtis and Barbara Hall, and Calvert and Cheryl Hall and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers- and sisters-in-law James and Mary Hall of Alma and Sheriff Mark and Jane Hall of Hazelhurst.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hall were held at Ardsley Park Baptist Church Thursday, July 13, 2006 with Elder Richard Davis and Dr. Calvin Webb officiating.

Ruthie Graham Linder
Ruthie Graham Linder, 67, of 1201 South First Street, H-7-5 Briarwood Apartments, Jesup, passed away Saturday evening, August 26, 2006, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 5, 1938 in Laurens County as a daughter of the late Roosevelt Graham and Rosa Lee O’Neal Graham. She was educated in the publicschools of Laurens Conty. Later she moved to Bacon County where she was employed by the Bacon County Hospital for many years. She met Willie Linder Jr. and married
in 1973 and remained in Alma until 2005 when she moved to Jesup to be united with all of her children and extended family.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Linder Jr., Jesup; three daughters, Stephanie Mitchell, Atlanta, Sonja P. Hudson and Tonga Brown, both of Jesup; a son, Katonga (Cynthia) Mitchell, Alma; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven brothers, Walter Lewis, Henry Madison, Nelson Madison, Roosevelt Graham, Herman Graham, Jimmy L. Graham and Harry Graham; eleven sisters, Bobby Jean Robinson, Josephine Madison, Rosetta Davis, Glenda Clark, Lula Mae Jernigan, Lucille Graham, Virginia Graham, Edna M. Graham, Ruthie Nell Graham, Darlene Graham and Pauline Graham and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 2, from the New Covenant Ministries Church in Alma with Apostle Tobias Linder officiating.

Tony Lee Cothern, age 30, of Nicholls, passed away, suddenly early Thursday morning August 31, 2006 accidently.
He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late R. L. (Stony) Cothern and Myrtis Calhoun Cothern.
Survivors include his paternal grandmother, Eva Meeks Cothern of Alma. Two brothers; D. L. Cothern and wife Anna Marie of Nicholls and Patrick L. Cothern and wife Tina of Nicholls. Two sisters; Ruby Deal of St. Simmons Island, and Wanda Joyce Sanders of Broxton. Also several nieces and nephews survive.

Linda Diane Floyd, age 58, of Alma, passed unexpectedly Friday, September 1, 2006 at Satilla Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late Huey B. Taylor and Arilla Knowles Taylor. Diane was preceded in death by a brother, Bennie Taylor. She was a member of Waresboro Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, James (Buddy) Floyd of Alma. One daughter; Hulene Hardenbrook and husband Tony of Waycross. One sister; Doris Lewis and husband Warnie of Alma. Two grandsons; Al Jacobs and wife Jennifer and Daniel Jacobs. One great-grandson; Cery Jacobs.
