Joe Edward Cole
Mr. Joe Edward Cole, age 61, of Nicholls passed Saturday, November 4, 2006 at his residence, following a brief illness.
Mr. Cole, a native of Coffee County, was the City Engineer with the City of Nicholls Water Department. He was the son of the late George E. Cole and the late Opal May Douglas Cole. He was a member of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals.
Survivors include two sisters, Patricia, and husband Danny Taylor, and Sandy Cole, all of Nicholls; other relatives, including Jackie Knight of Nicholls, Mary and Junior Thorn of Warner Robins, Patrick Ray of Fitzgerald, Bryant Knight of Broxton, Greg Ray and Chris Campbell both of Douglas, and special friends and employees of Nicholls.
Funeral services and iIntermentwere held Wednesday, November 8, at the Elem (Roberts) Cemetery, with Mr. Gary Vickers officiating. A special Eulogy was given by a sister, Patricia C. Taylor.
Active pallbearers were; Jerry Henderson, Rodger Davis, Dwayne Streat, John Blaine, Harold Taylor and Ben Parker. Employees of the City of Nicholls served as honorary pallbearers.

James Billy Warnock, Sr.
James Billy Warnock, Sr., age 63, of Alma passed Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at his residence after a short illness.
He was a native of Bacon County but had lived in the Atlanta area since 1962 and he had recently moved back to Alma a year ago. Billy was the son of the late James W. (Jim) Warnock and Ettie Coetta Orvin Warnock and was raised by the late Addie and Clifton Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a wife Pasty Warnock and a daughter, Angela Suzanne Warnock. Billy was a member of Sand Hill Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Appling County.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jane Yokum Warnock of Alma; two sons, James Billy Warnock, Jr. and wife Nora, Clifton David Warnock and wife Kelli all of Douglasville, Georgia; one step-son, Lee Yokum, Jr. of Douglasville; two daughters, Pamela Michelle Warnock of Douglasville, and Cynthia Warnock Treadwell and husband Doug of Hiram, Georgia; two brothers, Buddy Warnock and fiancé Ann Smith of Rome, Georgia and Charlie Warnock of Alma; three grandchildren, Wade, Kyla and Jaime Warnock all of Douglasville; also two grandchildren on the way, Taylor Warnock and Alyssa Treadwell.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 10, at New Hope Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Carter officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were; Stephen and Stanley Allen, Justin, Andy, Brandon and Lance Orvin. All those in attendance were considered honorary escorts.

Elisha L. (Speed) Paulk Jr.
Elisha L. (Speed) Paulk, age 90, Alma passed Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in Twin Oaks Nursing Home after a short illness.
He was a native of Coffee County but lived most of his life in Bacon County. Speed was son of Late Rev. Elisha L. Paulk and Rebecca Harper Paulk and was preceded in death by five brothers; Henry, Rev. Earl, Geech, Buddy and Milburn Paulk; two sisters, Oris Edenfield and Mary Ellen Tomberlin.
He worked with the Georgia Forestry Department for ten years, Deputy Sheriff for many years, and retired after seventeen years with Bacon County Road Department as superintendent. Speed was a member of New Vision Church, American Legion and V.F.W., he served in the US Army during WWII and was an avid fox hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Rudine Mims Paulk of Alma; two daughters, Barbara L. (Twink) Howard and husband Bob of Starke, Florida, Kim Traynham and husband Jeff of Alma; two sisters, Jessie Mae Crosby Harrison of Alma, and Sarah Harper of Ambrose; three grandchildren, Erica L. Howard of Gainesville, Florida, Lezlie T. Rue of Kingsland, and Jonathan Traynham of Brunswick.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 28, at New Vision Church with Rev. Billy Floyd and Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Eston Arnold Barlow
Eston Arnold Barlow, age 84, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee passed Saturday, November 4, 2006.
Survivors include her son, Greg Barlow and wife Wanda Barlow of Old Hickory, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Tara Aldridge of Franklin, Tennessee and Cayla Stroud of Nashville, Tennessee.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, November 7, in the Stewart Family Cemetery, Alma.

Dr. William A. Berryhill Sr.
Dr. William A. Berryhill, Sr, 76, a Minister of the Gospel, passed Sunday, November 5, 2006 at a hospital in Plano.
Brother Bill was born on January 6, 1930 to William and Cressie Berryhill, in Tampa, Florida. He received a BA in Theology from Trinity Bible College, as well as an honorary Doctorate of Divinity. Bill was a lifetime member of the American Legion, head of pastoral care unit at Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, Georgia, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, and the head of Toombs County Charities in Vidalia.
Dr. Berryhill also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict however, his greatest joy in life was telling others about Jesus Christ. He was in ministry over 50 years, having pastored four churches in forty years; two in Vidalia and two in Texas. Bill was preceded in death by his father William L. Berryhill and a grandson, William Bradley Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Berryhill; children, William A. Berryhill Jr. and wife Diane, Robin Berryhill-Jones and husband Bradley, Lisa Berryhill and fiance' Ron Stacy, and Paul Berryhill and wife Debbie; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; mother, Cressie Berryhill; sister, Mary Schoen and husband Homer; brothers, Wayne Berryhill and wife Jinny, David Berryhill and wife Carolyn and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. iIntermentfollowed in Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Thomas Edward Grayson, Sr.
Thomas Edward Grayson Sr., age 48, of Alma passed suddenly Monday, November 6, 2006 at his residence. He was a native of Savannah, but had lived in Bacon County for the past eighteen years.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis William Grayson, Sr. and Dorothy Lee Blitch Grayson and two sisters, Ann Covington and Doris Ann Smith.
Survivors include his wife Marie T. Grayson of Alma; three sons, Gregory Brian Tanner and wife Regina, Thomas Edward Grayson, Jr. and Adam Lee Grayson all of Alma; one daughter Edye Marie Herrington and husband Donnie of Alma; four brothers, William C. Grayson, James R. Grayson, David Grayson and John A. Grayson all of Savannah; two sisters, Dorothy L. Williams and Harriett Lovell both of Savannah; one grandchild, Peyton Tanner of Alma and several nieces and nephews survive.

Larry Ray Jones
Larry Ray Jones, 57 of Albany, passed Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at his residence.
A native of Swainsboro, he grew up in Alma, and graduated from Bacon County High School and was a graduate of Augusta College in Augusta, Georgia. A successful Christian businessman, he moved to Albany in 1984 where he was the founder and owner of Jones Welding and Industrial Supply Co. He was a faithful member and deacon of Sherwood Baptist Church since 1984. He was a member of Gideon International and was on the board of directors and treasurer of the Anchorage. He was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Randy Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Morris Jones; one daughter, Lauren Jones Helton and her husband Joseph F. Helton of Grovetown, Georgia; one son, Larry Brandon Jones and his wife Sarah St. John Jones of Leesburg; four grandchildren, Judge Jones, Jaylan Jones, Emma Helton, Presley Jones; parents, Rev. Ray Jones and Lyndell Moxley Jones of Alma; one sister, Judy Jones Dean and her husband Dr. Floyd Dean of St. Simons Island; one brother, Stephen Alan Jones and his wife Laura Jones of Loganville, Georgia.

James David Childree
James David Childree, age 54, passed Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
He was born in Fitzgerald and grew up in Cordele, Georgia. He was a 1970 graduate of Crisp County High School where he was recognized as an outstanding and gifted athlete, excelling in basketball, football, and especially baseball. As a youth, David was actively involved in the Pinecrest Baptist Church in Cordele.
He moved to Bulloch County in 1970 and attended Georgia Southern College. He was also employed as a Boilermaker out of Savannah Union for several years before graduating from Georgia Southern. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1981 and was employed with Milliken and Company Alma Plant.
He was the Engineering Services Manager at the Alma plant for nearly 25 years. David served as an active member of the Alma United Methodist Church. While Chairman of the Board of Trustees he initiated plans for the design and building of a new church parsonage.
He was, for many years, an active member of the church choir. All who heard him sing loved the soulful ambiance he brought to the music. David was also a charter member of the Blueberry Plantation Golf Club in Alma. He was a golfer, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities, including GSU Eagle Football and Tailgating.
By nature he was a talented cook and entertained family and friends by sharing his culinary skills and wonderful food. David's greatest talent was making people feel loved, appreciated, and special. His sincerity, kindness, generosity and compassion earned him numerous loyal friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnie R. Childree and his father-in-law, Dr. C.E. Bohler.
His is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Rene Bohler Childree; one son, Jonathan Childree of St. Simons Island; one daughter, Jeanna Childree of Statesboro; mother, Loutrelle McMillan Childree of Cordele; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edwin and Karen Childree of Titusville, Florida, and Mark Childree of Cordele; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ellen Bohler Anderson and AJ Anderson of Ft. Lauderdale, Matt Bohler of Tucker, Georgia and Tim and Christy Bohler of Statesboro, and his mother in law Billie Bohler of Brooklet.
