Charlie Leary
AMERICUS-Funeral services for the late Mr. Charlie Leary of Americus, Ga, who passed on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 in the Sumter Regional Hospital will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 from the Eastview Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Melvin Warfield will officiate and burial will follow in the Eastview cemetery. There will be a viewing of the remains at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mr. Charlie Leary was born in Turner County, Ga. on July 4, 1915.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Ms. Marie Harris Leary; two sons, Mr. Charles Henry Leary and Mr. Henry Leary; one daughter, Ms. Mordean Leary; a daughter-in-law, Ms. Yvonne Leary, seven grandchildren, Elijah, Princella, Trinisia, Kimberly, Tasha, Charnell and Charles II; 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Robbie Stewart Tanner
PLAINS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Robbie Stewart Tanner, 101, of Plains, who died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Lillian G. Carter Nursing Center, will be announced by Hancock Funeral Home, Inc.
Joyce F. Timmerman
PLAINS -- Mrs. Joyce F. Timmerman, age 70, 206 Walters St., Plains, died on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, from the Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Lebanon Cemetery. Frank Williams, Morgan Wise and members of the Bethany Sunday School Class of the Plains Baptist Church are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers will include: Ray Windham, Tony Windham, Kelly Windham, Tim Story, James Suttles and Preston Harris.
Mrs. Timmerman, a native of Taylor County, was born May 1, 1933, a daughter of the late Jerry Cecil Fuller and Ruby Ilene Byrd Fuller. She was the wife of the late Cody Timmerman who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1988. She was a member of the Plains Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday School class of her church.
For 9 years, she taught Sunday School at the Plains Nursing Home. She was a retired social worker with the Department of Family and Children's Services in Americus. She was a member of the PALs Club, the Stitch and Chat and served on the Woodland Association board.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Americus-Sumter County, P.O. Box 1434, Americus, Ga. 31709. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19. At other times, friends may call at the family residence in Plains.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Wayne Smith of Butler; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry and Rita Timmerman of Americus, David and Teresa Timmerman of Leesburg and Kevin Timmerman of Plains; a sister, Geraldine Windham of Macon; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Pyle of Homassassa, Fla and Betty Ann Timmerman of Atlanta; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ellen Josephine Edwards Pilcher
AMERICUS -- Mrs. Josephine Pilcher, 68, of Americus died Tuesday night, October 7, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. Pilcher was a native of Macon County, born September 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Olin Sanford Edwards and the late Leida Childs Edwards. She was a graduate of Oglethorpe High School and was Valedictorian of her class.
She was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College, a member and treasurer of the Morning Glory Garden Club. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church where she was co-director of the Bed Babies Sunday School Class, a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and a member of WMU Group #3.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, October 9, 2003 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Parks and Dr. Lamon Moates officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Serving as active pallbearers will be nephews; Charles Burgamy, Mike Burgamy, David Burgamy, Darius Denton, Kent Denton and Billy Pilcher. Asked to service as honorary pallbearers are members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, Bed Babies Sunday School Class workers, members of the Morning Glory Garden Club and members of WMU Group #3.
Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday night, October 8, 2003 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford Pilcher, Jr. of Americus; one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Pilcher Abell (Hamer) of Leslie; one son and daughter-in-law, Cliff Pilcher, III (Laurie) of Americus; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gwen and Gene Jordan of Americus and Sandra and Marvin Denton of Milledgeville; four grandchildren, Mallory and Megan Pilcher of Americus and Emily and Caleb Abell of Leslie. One grandson, Alex Pilcher, preceded her in death.

Joshua Lamar Joiner
IDEAL -- Joshua Lamar Joiner, 18, of Ideal passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Oct. 8, 2003, in the chapel of Watson Mathews Funeral Home. Burial will follow iin the Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Weaver will officiate.
Born in Sumter County, he was a graduate of Macon County High School where he was member of the baseball team. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his mother, Dusty Satterfield of Ideal; father, Ralph Lamar Joiner of Andersonville; sister, Carrie Joiner of Ideal; grandparents, Myrtle and the late Ralph Joiner of Oglethorpe; J.W. and Doris Jones of Oglethorpe and Marilyn and Don Satterfield of Montezuma.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sharon Annette Martin
AUGUSTA -- The funeral service of Sharon Annette Martin, 39, of Wadley, formerly of Albany, who died Friday at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, will conducted at 3 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church of Americus. The Rev. Richard Hart, the Rev. David Martin and the Rev. Deb Bibler will officiate. iIntermentwill follow at Parrott City cemetery in Parrott.
A native of Calhoun County, Fla., Miss Martin had resided in Lee County and Albany for a number of years before moving to Americus and then to Wadley two years ago.
She was a graduate of Lee County High School in 1982, Albany Technical and Georgia Southwestern State University. She taught third grade at Carver Elementary School in Wadley. She was a loving Christian and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Americus.
Survivors are her parents, Henry and Becky Martin of Albany; five brothers, James Henry Martin of Greenville, S.C., the Rev. John David Martin of Parrott, Allen Douglas Martin of Albany, George Andrew Martin of Suwanee and William Walter Martin of Kennesaw; two nieces and two nephews.
The family is at the residence of Henry and Becky Martin, 1799 Philema Road, Albany.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Mathews Funeral Home, 3206 Gillionville Road, Albany.

Ernest Turner
PLAINS -- Mr. Ernest Turner, 84, died shortly before noon on Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Lillian Carter Nursing Center in Plains. Funeral servcies will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Plains Baptist Church with interment to follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The Rev. Don Wilson will officiate. Al Williams, Larry Williams, Bobby Salter, Lonnie Wise, Mill Simmons and David McLemore are requested to serve as active pallbearers. Other deacons of the Plains Baptist Church and members of the George Harper Sunday School Class are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Turner, a native of Polk County, was born June 9, 1919, a son of the late Arthur Vance Turner Sr. and Mamie Lee Popham Turner. He served with the U.S.. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was affiliated with the Carter Warehouse in Plains for about 15 years, and later owned and operated Turner Hardware and Dry Goods. As a parallel vocation, he was a prominent Sumter County farmer. He was a member and deacon of Plains Baptist Church and a member of the George Harper Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. today at Hancock Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the family residence. 411 Thrasher Road in Plains.

Survivors are his wife, June Turner of Plains; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice Ruth and Guy Gunnels of Columbus; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, the Rev. Auston Turner and Cora Turner of Conyers, Vance Turner of Plains and Grace Turner of Americus, and several nieces and nephews.

Harold Dorsey Scott
AMERICUS -- Mr. Harold D. Scott, 88, of Americus died at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. A native of Chambers County, Ala., Mr. Scott was born April 14, 1915, son of the late Lee Cleveland Scott and the late Frankie Blackstone Scott He was the owner and operator of Scott's Television Sales and Service prior to his retirement in 1981. He was a former member of the Americus Lions Club, a member of Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's and was an avid fisherman. He was a deacon and a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, 142 Southland Road, with the Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. A private burial will follow. Serving as honorary pallbearers are members of the Men's Bible Class. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 221 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.

Fonda Suzette Farr Neisent
CORDELE -- Suzette F. Neisent, 37, of Cordele died Monday, Sept. 30, 2003 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, 142 Southland Road, Americus, with the Rev. Randy Clayton officiating.
A native of Sumter County, Mrs. Neisent was born Jan. 8, 1966, a daughter of the late James Morris Farr and Betty Joyce McLendon Farr, who survives her. She was employed with Ironwood Golf Course. She was a member of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church in Americus.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund that has been opened at Sumter Bank and Trust Company in the name of Megan and Johnathon Neisent.
Survivors other than her mother include a daughter, Megan Dawn Neisent, and a son, Johnathon Daniel Neisent, both of Cordele; three sisters, Pamela Joyce Farr and Lorri Ansley, both of Arabi, and Donna Dailey of Warwick; and two brothers; Greg Farr and James Farr both of Americus

Mildred Elizabeth McCullar Harris
AMERICUS -- Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth McCullar Harris, 79, of 510 Rosenburg St., Albany, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at her granddaughter's residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, from the Chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services, 612 Rees Park, Americus, with the Rev. Tom Newman officiating. iIntermentwill follow in the Evergreen cemetery in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Harris was born Dec. 23, 1923, daughter of the late William Andrew McCullar and the late Sarah Weaver McCullar in Ben Hill County. She retired from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where she worked in the linen department.
Survivors include a sister, Gladys Garrett of Thomaston; a brother, J.W. McCullar of Royston; a step-daughter, Carolyn Cox; a step-son, Butch Cox; four grandchildren, Renee Wentworth of Zephyrhills, Fla., Shawna McGee of Albany, Tanya Karppe of Albany and Misty Collins of Albany. Nine great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, George Cox and Ronald M. Harris; a daughter, Sarah Jane Collins; a sister, Opal Sullivan; and a granddaughter, Samantha Collins.

AMERICUS -- Mrs. Molly Anne Lucas, 78, of 130 Murphy Mill Road died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Mrs. Lucas was born May 20, 1925, daughter of the late John Haithcox and the late Nancy Maymerd Haithcox in Chatham County, N.C. She had worked many years before her retirement as an advertisement consultant. She was a member of Mary Oaks Baptist Church in Mary Oaks, N.C., but had been attending church locally at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Americus.
Survivors include her husband William "Bill" Lucas of Americus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Lois Haithcox of New Hill, N.C. and Grady and Carol Haithcox of Charleston, S.C.; nieces Judy Lowery and her husband Teddy of Apex, N.C., Sarah Godwin and her husband Eddie of Greenville, S.C.; nephews John Haithcox of Sanford, N.C., Larry Haithcox of Durham, N.C., Eugene Haithcox of Washington State, Timothy Haithcox of Northern, Mich., and Cecil Bradford and his wife Beverly of Huntersville, N.C.
