Shelia Marie Fripp
ELLAVILLE — Mrs. Shelia Marie Fripp, 43, of 1598 Ga. Highway 228, Ellaville, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 24, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 27, 2006, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Andy Taunton, the Rev. Robert Orr and Brother Troy Fripp will officiate.
Mrs. Fripp was born Nov. 7, 1962, in Cobb County, the daughter of Thomas Coutney Ferguson and Shelvie Jean Ferguson. She was employed by the Marion County Board of Education and was a fourth-grade teacher at L.K. Moss Primary School. Mrs. Fripp was a 1980 graduate of Tri-County High School and a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University with a degree in early childhood education. She was also a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. Fripp was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Neal Thomas Ferguson.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Lancy Fripp; one daughter, Micah Fripp of Ellaville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Stephen Fripp of Ellaville and Shane and Jennifer Fripp of Troy, Ill.; four grandchildren, Kiley Fripp, Ruthie Fripp, Rebekah Fripp and Lance Fripp; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna Lynn and Jody Dillard of Ellaville and Shelvie Ann and Burt Tankersley of Carrollton; one brother and sister-in-law, Timothy Dale and Donna Ferguson of Alpharetta. Survivors also include her mother-in-law, Elois Fripp; two brothers-in-law, Troy Fripp and Dean Fripp; five sisters-in-law, Elaine Franklin, Donna McLaurin, Deborah Davis, Darlene Rustin, and Vicki Yarbrough, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation were held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Mrs. Fripp’s name to L.K. Moss Primary School, 1707 Pineville Road, Buena Vista GA 31803.
Pallbearers will include Brian Barnhill, Elisha Fripp, Corey Fripp, Josh Mattson, Pete Yarbrough, C.J. Yarbrough and Colby Rustin. Honorary pallbearers will include Jacob Dillard, Tim Wilson and Dennis Jones.

Julian Elwyn Wade
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Julian Elwyn Wade, born Nov. 27, 1922, died Jan. 24 at Palm Garden Nursing Home, Jacksonville, Fla.
Born in Pavo to Charlie and Elah Bedgood Wade, he lived most of his adult life in Cordele and Houston, Texas, but had resided in Jacksonville since 2003.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in India. He was co-owner of Houston Food Brokers, Houston, Texas, until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by daughters Bonnie Faulk, (Arlington, Va.), Jill Powell (Thomasville), Ava Wilson (Macon), Terri Wade (Youngsville, La.), and their mother Nelle Wade (Woodbridge, Va.), daughters Phyllis Henderson (Tow, Texas), Lynn Lewis and Rocky Wade (Manvel, Texas) .
Other survivors include two sisters, Opal Rich (Jacksonville, Fla.), and Mary Galloway (Americus), 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 27, in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Cordele.

Leslie — Deacon Walter Clarence "Mr. Dooly" Lassiter, Sr., age 80, 141 Still Quarter Cir., Leslie, Georgia passed Sunday, January 22, 2006. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the Piney Grove Baptist Church #3, 108 Piney Grove Rd., Smithville, Georgia.
Survivors Are: Nine loving and devoted children and their spouses: Walter Clarence Lassiter, Jr. (Annie), Gussie Jackson (Andrew), Hattie Battle (David), James Lassiter (Linda), Leon Lassiter (Cynthia), Willie Charles Lassiter, Patricia Lassiter, Carolyn Bonner (James) and Gwendolyn Spivey.

Morris Terry
Ellaville — Morris Terry, age 77, 349 Thompson Sr., Ellaville, Georgia passed Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, Americus, Georgia. Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Tri-County Country Club Rd., Tazewell, Georgia. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery.
He was born May 25, 1928 to the late Dennis Terry and Vessie Dixon Terry. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Hubert Terry, Nettie L. Nolton and Brookie Ceasar. He was educated in the public school system of Marion and Schley Counties. He was inducted into the U. S. Army December 10, 1952 and was honorably discharged October 14, 1954 as a Lt. Corporal. During his tenure, he was the recipient of United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, ROK Presidential Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal. His tour of duty was spent in Pusan, Korea during the Korean War, Fort Gordon, Georgia and Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board Ministry and was the church treasurer.
Survivors Are: A beloved wife of 55 years, Christine Jackson Terry, Ellaville, Georgia; Daughters, Kathy Terry-Lucas and Patricia Jones (Curtis), all of Ellaville, Georgia; Grandchildren: Curtis Lucas, III, Daringer Morris Lucas, WaLitta Hurt and LaSaun Hurt; great-grandson, Tyson Jahmir Lucas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The remains will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Arthur Jevon Deriso
Albany — Arthur Jevon Deriso, age 32, 2304 West Gordon St., Albany, Georgia passed Saturday, January 21, 2006. Funeral service will be conducted 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2006 at St. John Baptist Church, Leslie, Georgia. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery.
Jevon was born July7, 1973 to Arthur Lee Deriso and Betty Jean Hamilton Deriso in Sumter County, Georgia. He was a 1992 graduate fo Sumter County Comprehensive High School. He was a member of the Ram basketball team. At an early age, he joined St. John Baptist Church. He was pursuing a degree from Albany Technical College in Auto Paint & Body. He was employed with Rays Collision Paint and Body Shop of Albany, Georgia.
Survivors Are: Wife, Amy Te'Kiysha Johson Deriso, Albany, Georgia; Children: Adrianna Keyshon Deriso and Meshauna Jamia Deriso; stepson, Kwantavius Johnson; Parents, Arthur and Betty Jean Deriso, DeSoto, Georgia; Siblings: Tiffany N. Nellie Grace Wright
COLUMBUS — Nellie Grace Wright passed away early Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born daughter of Susie Kate and Homer Hudson on Sept. 20, 1921 in Chattahoochee County. She was a sister to six siblings. Mrs. Wright resided at 64 Pope Lane in Marion County for more than 20 years.
She was the wife to the late Homer Wright for 50 years and mother to ten children. She survived: Raiford Eugene Wright, Clarence Rudolph Wright, Lizzie Elverna Ronsonet, Vivian Irene Wright, infant and Willie Chester Wright, her children, her second husband James William Hale; brothers: Otis Hudson, Gordon Hudson, Junior Hudson and Richard Hudson.
Mrs. Wright has lived in Marion County most of her life and was a member of Oakland Church of God.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of Tante Funeral Home, Buena Vista, with the Rev. Ruble Youngblood and the Rev. Ralph Price officiating. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery, Marion County. The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include: her sons, Paul Wright of Americus, Sam Wright of Oglethorpe and Donnie Wright of Ladson, S.C; daughters, Inez Yougblood of Juniper and Darlene Fuller of Mauk; brothers, Herman Hudson of Mauk; sister, Mary Lou Robinson of Mauk; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and five great, great-grandchildren.

AMERICUS — Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Cottle of Americus will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at the St. John AME Church in Plains with Bishop John T. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Staley Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cottle died on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at the Lillian Carter Nursing Center in Plains.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Mrs. Lorene Smith, Mr.& Mrs. Bobbie Armstrong, Ms. Katie Watts, Ms. Gwendolyn Hayes and Mr. Eddie Cottle; 10 grandchildren, Pamela Harris, Patricia Johnson, Candace Brownlee, Tawanda Stanley, Edwina Johnson, LaTochia Lomack, Kimberly Williams, Kenya Hayes, Henry Hayes Jr. Demetrius Cobb; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Mae Johnson (George), and Mrs. Mary E. White (Calvin); one sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances James. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

AMERICUS — Mr. Roy E. Harden Sr., age 81, of 907 Park Row, Americus, died Wednesday morning at Sumter Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. William Hall and the Rev. Dennis Johnson will officiate. Serving as active pallbearers are Joey Barnes, Johnny Lapinski, Rodney Barnes, Scottie Barnes, Donald Lacy, Ben Wisham and Keith Harden. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Trey Barnes, Trent Barnes, Travis Barnes, Ryan Barnes, J.T. Wisham and Derek Smith. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at Aldridge Funeral Services, and at other times the family residence, 907 Park Row, Americus.
Mr. Harden was born Jan. 16, 1925, son of the late James Cleve Harden and the late Mattie Young Harden in Sumter County. He was retired from the former Turpin Dodge Company of Americus as a mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Margie J. Harden of Americus, four daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Lapinski of Americus; Annette and Mack Barnes of Leslie; Kitty and Bill Wisham of Americus; and Ginger and Buddy Purvis of Albany; two sons and daughter-in-law, John and Patricia Harden of Americus; and Steve Harden of Americus; 13 grandchildren, Bonnie Anthony, Donald Lacy, Kim Scott, Keith Harden, Barbara Wiggins, Johnny Lapinski, Joey, Rodney and Scottie Barnes, Jennifer Hogan, Ben Wisham, Susan Roberts and Sarah Beth Hester, the youngest granddaughter; 26 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Harden was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Francis Harden, and six brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to any church’s building fund of one’s choice.

MIAMI — Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Pinder of Miami, formerly of Americus, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Plains with the Rev. James Lundy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Pinder died on Sunday Jan. 29, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Demetrius Cox, Jackson Pinder and Nicole Tatum; her mother, Mrs. Edna Sims; eight bothers and sisters, Betty McGarrah (R.L), Ulysee Sims, Stella Ford (Charles), Gloria Sims, Diane Sims, Jerry Sims, Edna Joyce Morris and Jerome Sims; three aunts Fannie Mae Sheffield, Lady B. Sims and Alma Cox; four uncles, Booker T. Sims, Ralph Morgan, Charlie Morgan and Eddie Sims; one grandchild, JaKiri Pinder; a devoted friend James Tatum and a special friend Ernest Cox. AMERICUS — Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Charles McGarrah of Americus will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus with the Rev. Melvin McCluster officiating. Mr. McGarrah died on Monday Jan. 30, 2006.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jessie Pearl McGarrah of Americus; his daughter, Tia. S. McGarrah of Atlanta; three sisters, Deloris McGarrah and Valerie McGarrah, both of Americus, and Cassandra Boone of Atlanta; one brother Jimmy McGarrah Jr of Americus; and a special friend, Gwendolyn McGarrah of Atlanta. WARNER ROBINS — Lillie Mae Hall, age 98, of Warner Robins, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at Buena Vista Cemetery, Buena Vista, with the Rev. John Lanier of Westside Baptist Church officiating.
Mrs. Hall was born Aug. 7, 1907 in Johnson County, the daughter of the late J.S. and Nancy Howell Mason.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Hudson D. Burt and Alonzo S. Hall, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary B. Johnson (Ralph) of Centerville; sisters, Susie Odom of Macon and Claudia Wilson of Wrightsville; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

LESLIE — Mrs. Christine Kleckley Nash, age 89, 244 Allen St., passed Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Ga. Highway 118, Smithville. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Mrs. Nash was born March 27, 1916, to the late Albert Kleckley and Pearlie Williams Kleckley in Sumter County. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was married
to the late Elbert Nash Sr. and to this union four children were born. Three sons preceded her in death: Willie Edward Nash, Jesse Nash and Eugene Nash. She was also preceded in death by five siblings: Lee Arthur Kleckley, Simpson Kleckley, Washington Kleckley, Annie C. Rushe and Florence Johnson. She was a homemaker.
Survivors are: a loving and devoted daughter, Gladys Timmons (Jesse), Leslie; Stepson, Edward Nash Jr. (Carrie), Leslie; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Nash and Gloria Nash; sister, Cassie Nelson; two half-sisters, Rosa Lee Thomas (Clarence) and Annie Lloyd; two sisters-in-law, Bell Zola Kleckley and Francis Nash; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

AMERICUS — Funeral services for Mrs. Clenton Mae Cain Calloway of 240 Brookdale Drive, Americus, who passed on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006 in the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, from the Zion Hope Baptist Church. Elder Alfred Robinson will officiate and burial will follow in the Staley Memorial Gardens. The remains will lie at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mrs. Clenton Mae Cain Calloway was born in Sumter County on Feb. 17, 1926, to the parentage of the late Mr. Henry Cain and the late Mrs. Mary Molly Hoston Cain.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Mr. Willie James Calloway Jr. and Mr. Johnny Calloway; five daughters, Mrs. Mae (James) Alexander, Ms. Mary Williams, Mrs. Emma (Elder Alfred) Robinson, Ms. Stacie White and Ms. Tracie Myers; 15 devoted grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
