WARNER ROBINS — Lillie Mae Hall, age 98, of Warner Robins, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, at Buena Vista Cemetery, Buena Vista, with the Rev. John Lanier of Westside Baptist Church officiating.
Mrs. Hall was born Aug. 7, 1907 in Johnson County, the daughter of the late J.S. and Nancy Howell Mason.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Hudson D. Burt and Alonzo S. Hall, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary B. Johnson (Ralph) of Centerville; sisters, Susie Odom of Macon and Claudia Wilson of Wrightsville; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

LESLIE — Mrs. Christine Kleckley Nash, age 89, 244 Allen St., passed Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Ga. Highway 118, Smithville. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Henry Hosley will officiate.
Mrs. Nash was born March 27, 1916, to the late Albert Kleckley and Pearlie Williams Kleckley in Sumter County. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was married
to the late Elbert Nash Sr. and to this union four children were born. Three sons preceded her in death: Willie Edward Nash, Jesse Nash and Eugene Nash. She was also preceded in death by five siblings: Lee Arthur Kleckley, Simpson Kleckley, Washington Kleckley, Annie C. Rushe and Florence Johnson. She was a homemaker.
Survivors are: a loving and devoted daughter, Gladys Timmons (Jesse), Leslie; Stepson, Edward Nash Jr. (Carrie), Leslie; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Nash and Gloria Nash; sister, Cassie Nelson; two half-sisters, Rosa Lee Thomas (Clarence) and Annie Lloyd; two sisters-in-law, Bell Zola Kleckley and Francis Nash; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The remains will be available for viewing at the church one hour prior to the service.

ATLANTA — Lillye Goodrum Geeslin of Atlanta died peacefully on Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2006. Wife of the late James Welch Geeslin Sr., she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Whitley of Americus. (Mike Whitley was Ann’s husband and is a beloved son-in-law to Lillye.) Lillye attended school in Macon and graduated from the University in Augusta as a registered nurse. She worked at Central Georgia Railroad Hospital in Savannah for three years before her marriage. Her career in public health nursing began in Dooly County and Sumter County while residing on the family farm in Byromville. She retired from Dekalb County and continued to live in Atlanta until her death. Surviving are her daughter, Frances Sangster of Atlanta, and son and beloved daughter-in-law, Jim and Sharon Geeslin of Sterling, Alaska; grandchildren, Lynne Sangster, Lisa Kent, Therese Sangster, Tray Geeslin and wife Yuli, Cindy Thomas and husband Julian, Richard Boyd and wife Dora, Steven Boyd, Jonathon Boyd; nine great-grandchildren; nephews, Judge Harold Hill Jr. and wife Jane, Bob Hill and wife Becky along with many other nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. with interment in Westview Cemetery. AMERICUS — Mr. Herman Johnson Whitaker Jr., age 63, of 118 Mallard Lane, Americus, died early Thursday morning, Jan. 12, 2006, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday morning, Jan. 14, 2006, from Lee Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gene Yelverton and the Rev. Stan Littleton officiating, with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with full Masonic Rites. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are John Morgan, J.D. Parker, Danny Hyatt, Phil Phillips, Dan Parker and Benje Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday evening, Jan. 13, 2006, at the funeral home, and at other times the family residence, 118 Mallard Lane, Americus.
Mr. Whitaker was a native of Hart County, born the son of the late Herman J. “Bill” Whitaker Sr. and Rachel Martin Whitaker, who survives him, on Feb. 20, 1942. Mr. Whitaker was retired from H.J. Whitaker and Sons Trucking Company of Americus. He was a member of the Al Sihah Shriners of Macon, member of Sumter Shrine Club and M.B. Council Lodge #13 F & A.M. of Americus and Lee Street United Methodist Church in Americus.
Mr. Whitaker is survived by his mother, Rachel Martin Whitaker of Americus, his wife, Patsy Whitaker also of Americus; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Whitaker of Americus and Linda W. Goodin and Mark of Cobb; a brother, Jim Whitaker of Columbus. Also surviving is a grandson Mitchel Goodin of Cobb, and a number of nieces and nephews.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — Funeral services for Henry Lee Boone of 25983 Hacienda Court, Moreno Valley, Calif., formerly of Americus, who passed on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 in the city, will be held at 2 p.m. today from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. H. C. Wilson will officiate and burial will follow in the Eastview cemetery. There will be a viewing of the body one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mr. Henry Lee Boone was born in Sumter County on Feb. 19, 1949 to the parentage of the late Mr. Arthur Boone and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Reynolds Boone.
Mr. Boone leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Afegalai Boone; five sons, Lt. Falando R. (Emiko) Boone, Mr. Michael (Donyelle) Brooks, Mr. Richard (Mari) Boone, Mr. Enele Boone and Mr. Aipolo (Luanei) Boone; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia (Christopher) Boone and Mrs. Stephany (Potofou) Laula.

ELLAVILLE — Mrs. Lela Lucile James, age 96, of 2040 SR 26 West, Ellaville, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Ellaville Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Kinservik and the Rev. Wayne DeFore will officiate.
Mrs. James was born May 26, 1909 in Schley County, the daughter of Charlie Brighten Teele and Lela Bell Teele. She was a homemaker and a member of County Line United Methodist Church. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Folice James.
Survivors include: two daughters and son-in-law, Syble Wall of Ellaville and Laverne and Bobby Carroll of Eastman and one son, Tommy James of Ellaville; eight grandchildren, Sandra Coody and husband James, Cheryl Myrick and husband Norman, Barbara Singletary and husband Matt, Plez James, Renaye Robinson and husband Mike, Tammy Phagan, Steve James and wife Amity and Debbie Norris and husband Tom; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great, great-grandchildren also survive.
A visitation will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. today at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. Pallbearers will include: William James, Lewie Grimsley, Larry Belcher, Dewie Grimsley, H. L. AMERICUS — Funeral services for Veteran Perry Clifford Jones Jr. of 512 E. Forsyth St., Americus, who passed on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 in the Sumter Regional Hospital will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. H. C. Wilson will officiate and burial will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery. There will be a viewing of the body one hour prior to services at the church.
Veteran Perry Clifford Jones Jr. was born in Sumter County on Oct. 28, 1928 to the parentage of the late Mr. Perry Clifford Jones and Mrs. Eddie Mae Jordan Jones, who survives. A graduate of Staley High School, Mr. Jones entered the United States Army and was honorably discharge in 1952.
In addition to his mother, Mrs. Eddie M. Jones, he leaves to cherish his memories, two aunts, Mrs. Louella J. Marshall and Mrs. Louise Martin and a host of cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends also survive.

Marion Hixon
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Marion "Pops" Hixon, 89, of Terre Haute, Ind., died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Southwood Nursing Home in Terre Haute, Ind.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 2415 8th Ave., Terre Haute, Ind., with the Rev. Harvey Grissom officiating. Burial followed in the Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Born Oct. 25, 1914 in Ellaville, he was the son of the late George W. Hixon Sr. and Bobbie (Spivey) Hixon.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Ellis) Hixon, whom he married
on March 23, 1952; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Hixon was preceded in death by four sisters, Annie Hawkins, Ida G. Hixon, Helen Milner and Nola Bell-Aldridge; three brothers, George W. Hixon Jr., Leamon Hixon and Lynn Hixon; and a son, Clarence "Bummy" Evans Jr.
He was a member of the Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a precinct committeeman. He operated several shoe stands in Terre Haute, Ind.
He loved traveling across the country and attending family reunions. He was awarded the Spivey-Green Family Patriarch Medallion in August 2003.

Willie Euzema Yates
ALBANY -- Willie "Billy" Euzema Yates, 75, of 2530 Brierwood Dr., Albany, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today, Sunday, April 11 at Morningside United Methodist Church, Albany. The Rev. Scott Brenton will officiate. Burial will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge. Visitation was held Saturday, April 10 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Hall & Hall Funeral Home.
A Bainbridge native, Mr. Yates served his Lord in many capacities at Morningside United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He received the Bronze Star and retired as a chief master sergeant. He then served as an instructor for 13 years in the Air Conditioning Department at Albany Area Technical College. He was preceded in death by his son, Willie Euzema Yates Jr., also a chief master sergeant.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Marie Yates; one son, Mark, and his wife Jackie Yates of Atlanta; a daughter, Cindy, and her husband Don Holloway of Americus; one daughter-in-law, Marcie Marie Yates of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Cullen Toney, Rowdy Yates, Tiffany Yates, Janine Yates, Marcel Yates, Montierra Yates and Regan Yates; one great-grandchild, Hailey Marie Pacheco; one sister, Sarah Nell Hines and one brother, Ronnie Turner of Bainbridge. Willie was a devoted husband and a loving father.

AMERICUS -- Mrs. Jean Ritch died Friday, April 9, 2004 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Americus with the Rev. Keith Parks and the Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Ritch was born in Jasper, Walker County, Ala. She was the daughter of the late John Eldred Knight and Ida Elvada Spears. She lived in Thach Community, attended Thach School and was a graduate of Walker County High School, moving to Columbus in 1948.
Mrs. Ritch married
H.P. Ritch in Columbus on March 6, 1953. She worked in Columbus at Kinnett Daries and Swift MfG. Co. The family moved to Americus in 1962 where she was employed with Marlette Homes, Peak Industries and retired from Davidson-Textron in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Dorcas Sunday School Class and was pianist for the senior adults.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 11, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. At other times friends may call at the family residence, 195 East Shore Drive. Survivors include her husband, H.P. Ritch of Americus, one daughter, Brenda Ritch Burditt of Columbus, one son and daughter-in-law, Donald Alan and Becky Jerkins Ritch of Americus, three granddaughters, Kristin Ritch and Kerri Ritch of Americus, and Gena Burditt of Columbus, one brother, Ralph Knight of N.C., one sister-in-law, Helen Knight of Columbus, two step-brothers, Walter Tidwell of Columbus and Weldon Tidwell of Texas. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Her step-mother, Mary Tidwell Knight, and her brother Arnold Knight preceded her in death.

Mr. Arthur Lee Sims was born in Sumter County on May 12, 1945 to the parentage of the late Mr. Jessie Lee Sims and the late Mrs. Bertha Stewart Sims.
Mr. Sims leaves a legacy of memories to his children, Mr. Michael (Sharon) Sims, Mr. Bernard Sims, Mr. James Sims, and Mr. Arthur Thomas; his step-children, Mr. Clarence (Jennifer) Tullis and Ms. Stacey Johnson, of Americus, and Mr. Marvin Tullis of Calif.; six daughters, Ms. Jurilene (Ralph) Morgan, Ms. Jessie Sims, Ms. Mandy Sims, Ms. Margaret (Dennis) Harvey, Ms. Imogene (Rev. George Thomas Thrasher
ELLAVILLE - Mr. George Thomas Thrasher, 77, of 681 Ebenezer Rd., Ellaville, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at his daughter's residence in Plains. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Orr, the Rev. Brooks Partain and the Rev. Andy Taunton will officiate.
Mr. Thrasher was born July 4, 1928, in Boaz, Ala. and was the son of Sumpter and Gertrude Thrasher. He worked for Champion Homes for 20 years and was a volunteer Schley County EMT and firefighter for 20 years. Mr. Thrasher was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He also survived in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife: Mildred Thrasher; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Stephen Kalt of Arlington, Texas, Jeanne and Billy Harper of Plains, Paula and Danny Harmon of Americus; two sisters, Elsie Thrasher of Americus, Alma Street of Lapeer, Mich. and a sister-in-law, Gladys Thrasher of Pell City, Ala.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Jackie Thrasher, Stanley Thrasher, Allen McDaniel, Robert Smith, Larry Rogers, Keith Southers and Benny Davenport. Honorary pallbearers include Dale Metheny, Johnny Wall, Floyd Grimsley, Tommy Mallichek and Butch Gleaton.
The family of Mr. Thrasher will receive family and friends at the home of Jeanne and Billy Harper, 337 Rabbit Branch Rd., Plains, GA. Visitation will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. tonight at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
