AMERICUS - Mrs. Leila Harris Cain, 88, 114 Sullivan Drive, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2006, in Sumter Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Brooks Partain officiating.
Born May 16, 1917 in Terrell County, Mrs. Cain was a daughter of the late Jeb Harris and Jessie Bridges Harris. Her husband, Henry Edwin Cain, preceded her in death on May 18, 1999.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Kay and John Buchanan, 121 Sharon Circle.
Mrs. Cain was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and John Buchanan of Americus; two grandchildren, Adriann Buchanan of Savannah and Michael Buchanan of Americus; a niece; and several nephews.

Frances Guess Hall
ALBANY - Frances Guess Hall, 65, of Albany, died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Palmyra Park Hospital in Albany after a short illness. Born on March 6, 1941, in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late H. C. and Mallie Dees Guess. Mrs. Hall was a graduate of Valdosta High School and attended Valdosta State University. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, jogging, loved her pets and traveling. She was a member of Radium Springs Baptist Church in Albany.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Hall of Albany; daughters and son-in-law, Tippy Davis Southall and William Southall, Leslie Ann McLean, all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Kacie Ann McLean and Dylan Paul McLean, both of Valdosta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Lucinda Guess of Valdosta, Charles and Donna Guess of Jacksonville, Fla.; nephews, Jordan Guess, Ryan Guess, Clay Guess, Sam Guess and a niece, Missy Guess Ford. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Little Tommy Guess.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

ELLAVILLE - Patricia Diane McDaniel, 55, of 285 Bailey Lane, Ellaville, died Wednesday morning, April 19, 2006 at Sumter Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Andy Taunton will officiate.
Mrs. McDaniel was born Jan. 21, 1951 in Sumter County, the daughter of Maynard and Elizabeth Avery Hutchens. She was employed at the IGA Grocery Store in Ellaville for six years and had previously been employed at Cooper Lighting. Mrs. McDaniel was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Dale McDaniel; one son and daughter-in-law, Jason Bradley and Carrie Anne McDaniel of Ellaville; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Lucy Hutchens of Panama City, Fla.; three sisters, Brenda Barfield of Panama City, Fla., Shelby Belcher of Ellaville, and Sandra Tyler of Gainesville. Four grandchildren, Kylie Elizabeth McDaniel, Alexis Marie McDaniel, Dylan James McDaniel, and Conner Jospeh McDaniel and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by a son, Charles Thomas Mooney.
Pallbearers will include Jason McDaniel, Johnny Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, Mike Theus, John Burch and Danny Stoval.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.

PLAINS - Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lee 'Frances' Mitchell of Desoto, who passed on Monday, April 17, 2006 in the Lillian Carter Nursing Center, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2006 from the Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Minnie Lee 'Frances' Holmes Mitchell was born on April 1, 1916 in Lee County to the parentage of the late Mr. John Holmes and the late Mrs. Doshia Holmes-Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Mrs. Doshia (James) Watts; five sons, Mr. John Lee (Essie) Mitchell, Mr. Willie Mitchell, Mr. Roosevelt (Bobbie) Mitchell, Mr. Eddie Frank (Barbara) Mitchell and Mr. Clarence (Miranda) Mitchell; 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends also survive.

Rockhill Drive, Americus, who passed on Saturday, April 15, 2006 in Atlanta will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22, from the Friendship Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Staley Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dexter Anton Pines was born in Sumter County on June 20, 1976 to the parentage of Mr. James Pines and Mrs. Mable Evans Pines.

AMERICUS - Funeral services for Mr. Ludrell Pope, age 100, who died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Plains.
Mr. Ludrell Pope, the son of the late Will Pope and the late Mollie Hurley, was born on Aug. 14, 1905, in Sumter County. He was married
to the late Mamie Tyson Pope. He was also preceded in death by his son, Leonard Pope Sr.
Mr. Pope leaves to cherish his memory his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Doris Pope; his grandchildren, Donald & Linda Pope, Leonard Pope Jr. and wife Emma, Calvin & Susie Pope, Margaret Douglas, Linda & James Larkins, Harold Pope and Nadine Pope; four devoted friends, Ralph Morgan, Johnny White, Emma Sue Sims and Mildred Burton. BUENA VISTA - Mr. Willie Oliver Wooden Sr., 89, 407 6th Ave., Buena Vista, passed April 13, 2006, at Magnolia Manor, Buena Vista. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Mahalia Chapel A.M.E. Church, Buena Vista. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery.
He was born Oct. 2, 1916, to the late Aytch Wooden Sr. and Fannie Peterson Wooden in Marion County in the Mahalia Chapel Community. At an early age, he joined the Mahalia Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he was ordained as a steward and later a Trustee. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 8, 1943 and honorably discharged Oct. 25, 1945. In 1936, he was married
to the late Gladys Davis Wooden. To this union five children were born.
Two children, Willie Oliver Wooden Jr. and Yvonne Wooden preceded him in death. A granddaughter, Sharonda McNeal, also preceded him death. In 1981, he was married
to the former Martha Bryant. He was one of he founder and member of the Home Circle Lodge. After many dedicated years of service, he retired as a diesel mechanic for Hugh Steele Construction Co. and Choride Battery Co. of Columbus for 12 years.
Survivors are: wife of 25 years, Martha Bryant Wooden of Buena Vista; children, Carolyn Wooden of Windsor, Conn., Barbara Joyce Wooden of Buena Vista and Anthony Wooden of Buena; daughter-in-law, Armarie Wooden of Buena Vista; siblings, Aytch Wooden Jr. (Daisy) of Fort Valley, Maurice Mann of Bloomfield, Conn. and Katherine Calloway of Bloomfield, Conn.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

EVANS — Mrs. Sara Stephens Adams, 86, of 644 Cornerstone Place, Evans, formerly of Hartwell, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Westwood Nursing Home, Evans.
Born Dec. 30, 1919, in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late John Edd Stephens and Lula Camilla Finch Stephens. She was an honor graduate of Anthony High School in Americus, and had a master’s degree in education from the University of Georgia. She was a retired school teacher who taught for 39 years at Centerville School in Elbert County, Thompson School in Americus, Ga. Hart County High School and Hart County Middle School. She was a member of Rehobath Baptist Church in Americus and a former member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Sara Kathryn Long, and her husband, Boyd of Evans; brothers, Fox Stephens of Americus, and Sam Stephens of Anderson, S.C.; two grandchildren, Boyd Long and Heather Avery, and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Winston Adams; a daughter, Camilla Norris; and a brother, Tom Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, from the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. The Rev. R. Allen Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

Mrs. Eugenia Bragg Everett
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Mrs. Eugenia Bragg Everett, age 96, of Niceville, Fla., formerly of Americus, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, in Niceville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with the Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Born Jan. 8, 1910, in Americus, Mrs. Everett was a daughter of the late George Monroe Bragg and Ida Burke Bragg. She was the wife of the late Henry T. Everett, who preceded her in death in 1966.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Americus since May 1922, and was active in the Sunday School and other church organizations as long as her health permitted. She was a homemaker, much loved by every family member, and by all those who knew her. She lived in Americus until March 2003.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Charles R. Weeks of Niceville, Fla.; three granddaughters, Nancy Codi and her husband, Sam, of Reading, Pa., Cindy McGuire and her husband, Jim, of Lawton, Okla., and Patti Cole of Niceville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Bryan Codi of Brackinridge, Colo., Crissy Codi of Boulder, Colo., Jimmie McGuire of Murietta, Calif., and Dillon Cole of Niceville, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A brother, George, preceded her in death in infancy. Also preceding her in death were five sisters, Thelma Atkinson, Evelyn Burton, Mamie Walters, Louise Vaughn Phinizy and Verna Argo.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Argo, 1216 Hancock Drive, Americus.

MAUK — Judy Williams, age 40, died Saturday night, Jan. 21, 2006, at her residence after a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at New Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. David Chapman, the Rev. Sydney Jones and the Rev. Jimmy Stubbs officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Williams was born April 3, 1965, in Taylor County, the daughter of the late Lenard Stubbs and Carolyn Welch Stubbs. She has lived in Marion County all of her life and was presently employed at Flag Bank as the branch manger in Buena Vista.
Survivors include her mother, Carolyn Stubbs of Mauk; husband, Horace Williams of Mauk; daughter, Kari Williams of Mauk; son, Seth Williams of Mauk; brothers, Roland Stubbs and wife, Deborah, of Oglethorpe; Lenard Stubbs Jr. and wife, Robin, of Mauk; sisters, Angie Ellis and Marc of Ellaville; Juanita Lane, Peggy Golden and Jennifer Welch, all of Buena Vista; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Stubbs.

Eugene was born September 22, 1958 to the late Eugene Clark, Sr. and Minnie Jones Clark. He was reared by his grandparents the late Roy and Eva Clark. He was 1977 graduate of Tri-County High School. "Net" as he was called by family and friends was currently employed with Carabelle Boats, Inc. of Americus, Georgia. LESLIE — Mrs. Willie Ruth Hall, age 95, passed Feb. 3, 2006, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Ga. Highway 118, Leslie. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hall was born Dec. 7, 1910, in Sumter County to the late Lee Hall and Lucy Lucas Hall. She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. At an early age, she joined Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of the Usher Board Ministry and the Senior Choir. She attended Golesby School of Cordele. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and canning. Mrs. Hall was the mother of six children; one daughter, Verdell Hall, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Jerry Bryant, Frank Hall, Pete Gibson and Mary Alice McGruder.
Survivors are her children, Gloria Ware of Miami, Janie Billings (Emmett) of DeSoto, Martha Blackshear of Leslie, Collene Palmer of Miami, Eugene Hall of DeSoto and Frances Wilder of St. Augstine, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Hall of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
