WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Funeral services for the late Mr. Bobby Lee Foster, 83, of West Palm Beach who passed on August 15, 2006, in that city are scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 11 a.m. from the Welcome Baptist Church, Middle River Road, Americus. Rev. Glenn Bryant is to officiate with burial in the Old Corinth Cemtery.
Mr. Foster was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Sumter County to the late Mr. Jessie Foster and the late Mrs. Annie Bell Smith Foster. He was educated in the Sumter County Public Schools. At an early age, he joined the Welcome Baptist Church. He lived for many years in West Palm Beach, where he worked for Mr. Donald Trump as a gardener. He was married
to the late Mrs. Adel Lurry Foster.
He is preceeded in death by his sister, Ms. Jessie Bell Cameron and his brother, Mr. Leonard Foster.
He leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Lezelia Richardson, West Palm Beach and one sister, Ms. Lucille Daniels, Cordele; a devoted niece Ms. Carolyn Foster, Americus; two grandchildren, Robert and Dee Dee; a host of other relatives and friends.

Ida Bell Turner Rogers Mond
ELLAVILLE — Mrs. Ida Bell Turner Rogers Mond, age 80, 112 Statham St., Ellaville, passed Saturday, August 12, 2006, at Doctors’ Hospital, Columbus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Hwy 19, Rupert, Georgia. iIntermentwill follow at the church cemetery. Rev. W. R. Campbell, pastor will officiate.
Mrs. Mond was born August 23, 1925, to the late Jimmie Lee Turner and Katie Edwards Turner in Taylor County. Six siblings preceded her in death: Bill Langston, Jimmie Lee Turner, Jr., Tommie Turner, Steve Turner, David Turner and Albert Langston. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board Ministry. In October 1997, she was married
to Earl "L. B. " Mond. Afer many dedicated years of servcie, she retired from the University of Georgia, County Extension Agency in August 1986.
Survivors Are: Husband, Earl "L.B." Mond; Children: Charlie L. Rogers, Jr., Turner Rogers (Sandra), Eddie D. Rogers, Sr. (Delois), Stella McCarter (Rodist), Michael Rogers, Roy Rogers (Irene), Steve Rogers (Loretta), Barbara Haynes, Robert Lee Mond and Patti Jo Boston (Rudy); 34 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; siblings: Jeanette Nelson, Lucy Kate Hosley, Paul Turner (Edna Ruth) and Alma Harris; a host of nieces, nepehws, other relatives and friends.
There will be a wake service on Friday, August 18, 2006 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, Inc., 607 Kaigler St., Oglethorpe.
The remains will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Fred Hill
ALBANY — The memorial service for Fred Hill, 79, of 3210 Harvest Lane, Albany, who died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Mathews Funeral Home with full military honors. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Montezuma, Mr. Hill resided in Albany since 1965, moving from Augusta. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years, serving in Korea and serving three tours in Vietnam. Mr. Hill was also employed with and retired from Proctor and Gamble after 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Cooper Hill of Albany; three sons, Carl Hill and his wife, Cyles, of Albany, Richard Hill and his wife, Cheryl, of Lee County and Jerry Hill of Albany; four grandchildren, Kristina Hill of Albany and Jason Hill, Holly Hill and Brandon Hill, all of Lee County, and a great-grandson, Nicholas Wingate. The family will receive friends after the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
Geneva Davis Bagley

PETERSBURG, Fla. — Funeral services for Geneva Davis Bagley of 2450 1st Ave. S., St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Americus, who passed on Monday, April 24, 2006, in the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, from the Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Mrs. Geneva Davis Bagley was born Feb. 7, 1919, the late Ms. Laura Davis in Americus. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Mr. Robert (Clarice) Brown and Mr. Gregory (Barbara) Bagley; two daughters, Mrs. Julia (Rev. R.L.) AMERICUS — Funeral services for Ruby Lee Denmark Jernigan of 509 Winn St., Americus, who passed on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in the Sumter Regional Hospital will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, from the Inspirational Church By Faith. Pastor Linda Mathis will officiate and burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Church cemetery. There will be a viewing of the body on hour prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Ruby Lee Denmark Jernigan was born in Sumter County on Feb. 28, 1956 to the parentage of the late Mr. John Arthur Denmark and the late Mrs. Mary Myrick Denmark.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, Mr. Freddie Jernigan; four children, Mr. Johnny (Daneshia) Robinson III, Mr. Victor (Adrienne) Robinson, Ms. Helen Jernigan and friend Quinton and Ms. Christy Denmark and friend Mathis; three brothers, Mr. Charlie Denmark, Mr. James Arthur Denmark Jr. and Mr. Robert Myrick; six sisters, Mrs. Maggie (David) Milner, Mrs. Mattie (Fred) Campbell, Ms. Elsie Denmark, Ms. Mae Pearl Denmark, Ms. Mary Jo Denmark and Ms. Dora Denmark; ten grandchildren and a host of aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.

Costella Knighton
AMERICUS — Funeral services for Mr. Costella Knighton will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin McCluster officiating.
Mr. Costella Knighton, son of the late Mr. Jeff Knighton and Mrs. Ora Mae Brown Knighton, was born May 2, 1943, in Sumter County. Mr. Knighton was also reared by Mr. Hiawatha Colbert Sr., who preceded him in death. In 1964, he was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Ethel Robinson, who also preceded him in death.
Mr. Knighton’s earlier years were spent in Americus, where he received his education in the Sumter County School System. At the age of 18, he moved to Detroit in pursuit of greater opportunities. He lived there for over 30 years and was employed by General Motors. He later moved to Hartford, Conn., where he resided for 15 years. Following a brief stay in Atlanta, he moved back to Americus, where he lived for eight years in the caring arms of a devoted niece and nephew, Linda and Christopher Banks.
The sun finally set on Mr. Knighton’s life on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at which time the battle was fought and the victory won!
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ora Mae Brown Colbert of Morrow. He also leaves to cherish his legacy three sisters and three brothers: Min. Annie Ruth Knighton- Crumbley of Americus, Mrs. Joann (Richard) Brown of Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Kaye Crumbley of Morrow, Mr. Larry Colbert of Stone Mountain, Mr. Samuel Colbert of Hartford, Conn., and Mr. Hiawatha Colbert Jr. of Ideal. One brother, Mr. Bobbie (Addie) Colbert Sr. precedes him in death. Two loving aunts, Mrs. Ollie Knighton Gant and Mrs. Willie Mae Knighton Powell, both of Americus. A very dear childhood friend, Mr. Waldo White, and a host of other family and friends also survive.

Henry Milner
AMERICUS — Grave side services for Mr. Henry Milner of Ashby Street will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Eastview Cemetery. Mr. Milner died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.
Mr. Henry Milner was born April 19, 1928, in Sumter County to the late Calvin Milner and the late Theodora McGrady Milner. He was raised by his aunt and uncle Eli Harris and Janie Harris. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County. Mr. Milner served his country in the U.S, Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 558 for over 18 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Ethel Lee Milner; two daughters, Sharon Thomas and Miketa Milner; one son, Brian Terry; one sister, Mariah Gary; a devoted nephew, James Milner; nine grandchildren, including Cory Blue, who he raised as his own and Antonio Searcy; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Smith of 3845 Queencrest Ave., Silverton, Ohio, formerly of Americus, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2006, from the Allen Chapel AME Church. Deacon Fred Rufus Smith was born in Sumter County on Oct. 25, 1939 to the parentage of the late Mr. Waymon Smith and the late Mrs. Willie Bell Ellis Smith.
He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Ms. Cornette Alexander and Ms. LaShawn Smith; four sisters, Ms. Mary Smith, Ms. Fannie Smith, Mrs. Martha (Pacie) Butler and a devoted sister, Mrs. Geneva (Tommy) Thompson; seven brothers, Mr. Hugh Smith, Mr. Thomas (Pauline) Smith, Mr. Willie James (Mary Dean) Smith, Mr. Sammy (Shelia) Smith, Mr. Alton (Audrey) Smith, the Rev. Mrs. Jennie Mae Murray Wilkerson was born in Marion County on Dec. 7, 1919 to the parentage of the late Mr. Oscar Murray and the late Mrs. Rose Mathis Murray.

Leola Perkins Deriso
AMERICUS — Leola Perkins Deriso, 91, died Aug. 11, 2006 in Americus.
Born July 30, 1915 in Swainsboro, she was the daughter of the late Nora Smith Perkins and Mason Bliss Perkins.
Mrs. Deriso graduated from Draughons Business School in Atlanta and then moved to Leslie where she lived most of her life. She was the widow of Henry Clark Deriso Sr. who died in 1973. Mrs. Deriso was devoted to her family and was very active in the family pecan business. She was a member of Leslie Methodist Church.
Mrs. Deriso was preceded in death by her two sisters, Annie Perkins Blackburn and Vernille Perkins Waldrep and a brother, Frank Strauss Perkins. She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, George Tharpe Deriso D.V.M. of St. Simons and Henry Clark Deriso M.D. and his wife, Natalie of Savannah; one brother and a sister-in-law, Morrel Kipling Perkins, Sr. and his wife Doris of Cartersville; six nieces, three nephews, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family of Mrs. Deriso would like to express special appreciation and gratitude to Ann Fields of Leslie for her devoted care. Appreciation also goes to the caring staff of Perfect Care, Magnolia Manor of Americus and Hospice of Cordele.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 14, in the Leslie City Cemetery, Sumter County. The Rev. James McIlrath officiating.

LEESBURG — The funeral service of Delores Marie Davis, 58, of 209 Century Rd. East, Leesburg, who died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. A.B. Stroud will officiate. iIntermentwill follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Santa Clara, Calif., Mrs. Davis had resided in Leesburg since 1969, moving from Long Beach, Calif. She was a homemaker and along with her husband Glynn Davis Sr., owned and operated Davis Auto Parts in Leesburg. Mrs. Davis kept busy with her crafts and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Glynn Herman Davis Sr. of Leesburg; two daughters, Michele Saunders and her husband, Steve, of Buena Vista and Glenda Romanesk and her husband, Alan, of Albany; son, Glynn H. Davis Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Lee County; brother, Dennis Berdu and his wife, Brenda, of Merced, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Karmen Davis, J.J. Davis, Michele DeVoe, Joey DeVoe, Allison Romanesk, Jonathan Apperson and Lauren Apperson.

Ora Elizabeth Harbuck Highnote
AMERICUS — Ora Elizabeth “Beth” Harbuck Highnote, 52, of 209 Fairway Circle, Americus died at her residence Thursday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church with the Dr. Harris Malcom officiating with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Aldridge Funeral Services at other times, at times at the family residence on 209 Fairway Circle.
Mrs. Highnote, a native and lifetime resident of Americus, was born Dec. 24, 1953, the daughter of the late Wiley Carey Harbuck and Mary Icard Harbuck who survives. Mrs. Highnote was a retired educator, teaching 7th through 12th grade French and science classes for 32 years before retirement.
She graduated from Americus High School in 1971 and attended Auburn University from 1971-1974 and graduated with a B.A. in French; attended West Georgia College from 1976-1980 and graduated with a M.E.d. degree in science. Mrs. Highnote, throughout her career, taught at Spalding County, Thomaston, Woodbury and Greenville.
Flint River Academy, Crisp County for 17 years and Lee County for nine years. She was a member of the Americus Jaycettes and former president prior to the merger of Americus Jaycees and Jaycettes. She was a member of Women of the Moose, Americus Chapter 952, and was past Senior Reagent of Women of the Moose and in “Who’s Who.” Mrs. Highnote was a member of Central Baptist Church and was the last female to join the church in the old church before present location.
Mrs. Highnote is survived by her mother, Mary Icard Harbuck of Americus; her beloved husband, Cleve Highnote of Americus; a sister, Junay Harbuck Neisler of Americus; brother and sister-in-law, Carey Harbuck Jr. and Susan of Americus; two brothers-in-law, John Phillip Highnote and Middy of Cobb and Carlton Allen Highnote of Los Angeles. Also surviving are two nieces; three nephew and nine great nephews and nieces.

Lester St., Americus, who passed on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 in the Sumter Regional Hospital, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 from the Inspirational Church By Faith. The Bishop John T. Taylor will officiate and burial will follow in the Mt. Creek A.M.E. Church Cemetery. The remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mr. Jessie Waters was born in Sumter County on Sept. 2, 1939 to the parentage of the late Mr. Ernest Waters and the late Mrs. Lou Jessie Brown Waters.
He leaves to mourn his passing four daughters, Mrs. Jessie (Dennis) Billings, Ms. Essie Waters and friend, Barney, Ms. Sarah Waters and friend, James and Mrs. Tamika (Eddie) Merritt; three sons, Mr. Arthur (Elizabeth) Mable, Mr. Jessie Waters Jr. and friend Sabrina and Mr. McArthur Waters; two brothers, Mr. Arthur Lee (Hattie) Waters and Mr. Eddie Lee Waters; one sister, Ms. Maggie Greene; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
