James Calvin Cromer
MACON Mr. Calvin Cromer, age 71, of 342 Old VFW Road, Oglethorpe, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Heartland Hospice in Macon. A native of Macon County, born May 2, 1936, Mr. Cromer was a son of the late Issac Luther Cromer and the late Bessie Jewel Cromer. He was a carpenter and a member of the Christian Heritage Worship Center in Oglethorpe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Jean Hall Cromer on March 18, 2004.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday, May 7, 2007 in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Brother Johnny Cromer officiating. A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., today, May 6 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 115 Arkwright Landing, Macon, GA 31210.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Butch Pugh of Andersonville, Vickie and Marc Noack of Jasper, Myra Kennington and Doug Moore of Oglethorpe, and Lisa and Jimmy McKinney of Lizella; one son and daughter-in-law, Lennie and Nancy Crook of Cartersville; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Myra Pennington of Americus. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Margaret Ann Pope Douglas
AMERICUS Funeral services Mrs. Margaret Ann Pope Douglas of Highpoint Dr., Americus will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 from the Friendship Baptist Church. Rev. Melvin McCluster will officiate and burial will follow in the St. Paul AME Church cemetery. The remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mrs. Margaret Ann Pope Douglas, affectionately called "Ann" was born in Sumter County on July 1, 1954 to the parentage of the late Mr. Leonard Pope and Mrs. Doris Thomas Pope who survive.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Ms. Jennifer Freeman; one granddaughter, Tezrisha Sanders; four brothers, Mr. Donald (Linda) Pope, Mr. Leonard (Emma) Pope, Jr., Mr. Calvin (Susie) Pope and Mr. Harold Pope; two sisters, Mrs. Linda (James) Larkin and Ms. Nadine Pope; two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends also survive.

Lois Dillard
PLAINS Mrs. Lois Dillard, 93, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007, at the Lillian Carter Nursing Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Keith Parks will officiate.
Born May 1, 1914 in Webster County, Mrs. Dillard was a daughter of the late William Liston Black and DeAlva Everett Black. Her husband, Ed Dillard, preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1999. Mrs. Dillard served as a clothing consultant for Jasons for a number of years and was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Americus as long as her health permitted.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Hancock Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the W.M.U. of First Baptist Church, 221 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Jack Chappell of Americus; grandson, Jay Chappell, his wife Jessica and their daughter, Talley Chappell of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mary Wills of Webster County and Pearl Lee of Tifton; brother, Alvin Black and his wife, Mae, of Webster County; sister-in-law, Mildred Black of Webster County and a number of nieces and nephews.

Delinda Louise Grantham
AMERICUS Mrs. Delinda Louise Grantham, 64, of 203 Lorraine Ave. died Friday morning, July 27, 2007, at her residence after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Heritage Church of God with the Rev. Bud Womack officiating. iIntermentservices will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at Andersonville National Historic Site Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times the residence of Peggy and Wayne Gorman, 21 Walker St., Preston.
Mrs. Grantham was born Oct. 30, 1942 in Elberton, the daughter of the late James Thomas Worley and Mary Maezelle Meirholtz Worley. She was formerly employed with Decorating Unlimited before her illness and attended Heritage Church of God.
Mrs. Grantham is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher Scott Grantham of Americus and Gary Michael Grantham and Teresa also of Americus; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jean Nobley and Joe of Moyock, NC, Peggy Gorman and Wayne of Preston and Judy Lee Easterling and the Rev. Leon of Enigma.
Also surviving are aunt and uncle, Carol and Frances Mierholtz of Norcross and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Grantham was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Lomax Grantham and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P.O. Kelly Powers Bodrey
UNADILLA Kelly Powers Bodrey, 36, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 29 at First Baptist Church in Perry with interment to follow at Woodlawn cemetery in Perry. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 28 at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bodrey was the daughter of Fred and Kathy Powers of Marshallville. Having lived in Marshallville most of her life, Mrs. Bodrey was a member of The Westfield Schools Class of 1989, and graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in 1994. Growing up and loving horses all of her life, she was an awesome barrel racer and won many awards, including a Reserve Champion for a 4-H Regional of 13 states. She was a member of 4-H as a young child and later the Perry Saddle Club and the Heart of Georgia Horse Association. She was a Probation Officer for the State of Georgia for 12 years.
Survivors also include her husband, Bill Bodrey, and son, Cody Bodrey, both of Unadilla; brother, Matt Powers (Donna) of Marshallville; sisters-in-law, Sheila Wilkes of Elko and Valerie Bodrey of Nashville, TN; niece and nephews, Scarlett and Phillip Wilkes and Ryan and Matthew Powers; grandmothers, Mildred Prickett of Marshallville, and Betty Ruth Powers of Beckley, W. Va; and father- and mother-in-law, William and Pat Bodrey of Unadilla.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Lyman Prickett, Sr. and Robert Powers.

Charlie Lyles Jr.
AMERICUS Graveside services for Mr. Charlie Lyles Jr. of 109 Harper Subdivision Rd., who passed on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at his home will be held at 10 a.m. today from the Mt. Mary Primitive Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Edge will officiate and burial will follow immediately afterward.
Mr. Charlie Lyles Jr. was born Sept. 20, 1945, in Sumter County to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie Lyles and Mrs. Mary Hodge Lyles who survives.
In addition to his mother, he leaves to mourn his passing, three sisters, Mrs. Josephine (Richard) Tyson, Mrs. Alice (Willie D.) James was born Aug. 23, 1987 to James Stanford Robertson Sr. and Diane Minter Robertson in Sumter County. He was preceded in death by by grandparents, Stanford Carl Robertson and Margarine Robertson. He was a 2006 graduate of Tri-County High School. James was attending South Georgia Technical College. James was a former employer Tyson Food, Inc., Buena Vista.
Survivors are: parents, James Stanford Robertson Sr. and Diane Minter Robertson, Americus; two siblings, Whitney Robertson and Brianna Robertson, Buena Vista; grandparents Johnnie B. Minter and Samuel David Minter, Buena Vista; a host of other relatives and friends.
Mae F. Tyner
AMERICUS Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Mae F. Tyner of 840 Railroad, who died Tuesday at Sumter Regional Urgent Care, will be announced by Barnum Funeral Home.
Richard D. Butler
ATLANTA A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Aug. 3 at St. John United Methodist Church, 550 Mt. Paran Road, NW, Atlanta, GA in honor of Mr. Butler. A reception before the service will begin at 2:30 p.m. at St. John to receive family and friends.
Mr. Butler died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital following complications from a car accident. Dick, as he was known, was born in Sumter County, on May 16, 1926 and he graduated from the University of Georgia in 1948 where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He was an active member at St. John for over 30 years and was a loving father.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters Sheila Butler Leibovic and Sarah Butler Bartlett. He is also survived by four granddaughters: Tova, Talia, and Tori Leibovic and April Coignard.

ALBANY Mary Sue Allen King, 73, of Ft. Gaines died Tuesday, July 31 2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am. Saturday, Aug. 4, in New Park cemetery in Ft. Gaines with the Rev. Garth Duke-Barton officiating.
Mary Sue Allen King was born in 1933 in Americus, daughter of the late Samuel Y. Allen and Helen P. Allen. She graduated from the University of Georgia and Peabody College with a master in library science. She taught elementary school in Americus, Albany and the U.S. Army in Germany. She was later a media consultant for the Georgia State Department of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. King of Ft. Gaines.
She is survived by a son, Stephen A. Szares of Jacksonville, Ala., grandsons, Stephen Szares Jr. of Ft. Gaines and LaGrange and Nicholas Szares of Jacksonville, Ala.; granddaughters, Lindsay Szares of Jacksonville, Ala. and Dawn Stevenson of Sharpsburg; stepson, Jack Szares of Lexington, NC; brother, Sam Allen (Dawn) of Lilburn; nephews, Jonathan and Weslay Allen of Lilburn.

Catherine Lewis Hay Brown
AMERICUS Catherine Irene Lewis (Hay) Brown, 78, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the First United Methodist Church of Americus. The officials will be the Rev. William Dupree, the Rev. James McIlrath and Dr. Aubrey Alsobook.
The interment service will follow at 2 p.m. in Crown Hill cemetery in Albany with the Rev. Dennis Stalvey presiding. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Hancock Funeral Home in Americus and at other times at her residence on Magnolia Lake Drive.
Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Irwin County to Thomas L. and Lucy L. Lewis. She graduated from Albany High School in 1947. She was previously married
to Wallace Asberry Hay who passed away in 1969. She worked as the bookkeeper for Dougherty High School for ten years.
She married
Arcey Thomas Brown of Americus in 1973. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1980. She enjoyed all activities of the church and was a member of the Epworth Sunday School Class and the Emmaus Reunion Group. She was also a member of the Americus Green Thumb Garden Club. She loved traveling, gardening and will be deeply missed by her Thursday bridge group.
She is survived by her husband, Arcey T. Brown of Americus; two daughters, Trena Hay Champion and her husband, Stewart, and Jan Hay Malsky and her husband, Dr. Paul, all of Albany; stepson, Arcey Larkin Brown of Beaufort, SC; four grandchildren, Hayley Champion Harris and her husband, Lee, of Columbus, Swede Asberry Scarborough and wife, Elizabeth, of Birmingham, Ala., Joseph Stewart Champion III (Josh) and Trent Hayden Scarborough of Albany.
Mrs. Brown is also survived by two step grandchildren, Joseph and Jessica Malsky of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Frances Hollingsworth Manderson, Elizabeth Hay Manderson, Jackson Truett Scarborough and Brantley Reed Scarborough; three sisters-in-law, Myrtle Harper of Figzgerald, Irene Brown of Rhine and Sarah Duke of Elmodel; brother-in-law, Frank Hay and wife, Alice, of Newton; aunt, Eltice Studstill of Rhine and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Hood, and brother, Nalbro Lewis.
Pallbearers are Swede Asberry Scarborough, Trent Hayden Scarborough, Joseph Stewart Champion III, Allen Theodore Stewart III, Donald Lewis Hood and Jeffrey Wayne Hood. AMERICUS Funeral services for Clara Mae Wilkerson Crumbley of Americus, who passed on Sunday, June 24, 2007, in the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30, from the Daniel Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Jesse Watts will officiate and burial will follow in the Eastview Cemetery. There will be a viewing of the body one hour prior to services at the church.
Ms. Clara Mae Wilkerson Crumbley was born in Sumter County on Nov. 17, 1922, to the parentage of the late Mr. Obie Wilkerson and the late Mrs. Mittie Lee Dowdell Wilkerson.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a nephew she raised as a son, Mr. Larry Engram; three sisters, Mrs. Ora (Walter) Burks, Ms. Elizabeth Wilkerson and Mrs. Mary (Hollis) Douglas; four grandchildren, Richard, Lionel, Sherrie and Natasha; great-granddaughter, Brittany, and host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
