DAVID CLYDE HEATH
Mr. David Clyde Heath, age 65, of John Abernathy Rd., Blairsville, formerly of Atlanta and Key West, FL, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Heath was born on June 6, 1940 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth Heath. Mr. Heath was an Art Dealer by trade owning his own Gallery in Atlanta from 1964 until the present. Mr. Heath was of the Presbyterian Faith.
Surviving Mr. Heath are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ellis and Lizabeth Heath of Morgantown, W. VA, Clifton Curry Heath of San Diego, CA, one brother and sister-in-law, Adair and Carol Heath of Australia, one Grandson, Franklin Baisley Heath of Morgantown, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Also a Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005 AT 4:00 pm from Moca, GA, In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assn. or to Blairsville Mountain Shelter Humane Society in Mr. Heath’s memory.

FERN MARY BOSLEY
Mrs. Fern Mary Bosley, age 79, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville. passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Bosley was born on Oct. 12, 1925 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Gordon and Mary Austin. She retired from the Piedmont Hospital as an Operating Room Technician with over thirty five years of service. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Beni in 2003 and by six brothers and sisters. Mrs. Bosley was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Bosley are one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Bob Vanmeter of Murphy, three son and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sharon Bosley of Marietta, Terry and Terri Bosley of Baltimore, MD, Jack and Patty Bosley of CA, fourteen grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Branan Lodge in Mrs. Bosley’s memory.

Edgar Dale "Buck" Short Jr.
Mr. Edgar Dale (better known as Buck) Short Jr., age 86, of Bell Rd., Mineral Bluff, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Short was born on June 2, 1920 in Hillsborough County, FL, the son of the late Edgar Dale Short Sr. and the late Dorothy Roberts Short. He had served as a Deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Dept. for over twenty five years. He loved the Mountains and working around the their home. his hobbies were rock collecting, shooting fire arms and gun collecting. He was a very loving husband and will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his wife of sixty years. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Trammell and Sharon Jones. Mr. Short was a member of the Charismatic faith.
Surviving Mr. Short are his loving wife, Betty Custer Short of Mineral Bluff, Godchild, Darleen Lee of Blairsville, close family friend, Russell Schrink of Blue Ridge, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Crews officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to United Hospice, 5004 Appalachian Hwy Ste. 3A, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 in Mr. Short’s memory.

JERRY WILLIAM SOSEBEE
Mr. Jerry William Sosebee, age 55 of Townsend Mill Rd. Young Harris passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Sosebee was born on Nov. 5, 1951 in White County, GA, the son of Elnora Powell Sosebee and the late Elmer Sosebee. He was a lifelong resident of Towns County. Mr. Sosebee was a member of West Union Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Sosebee are his mother, Elnora Sosebee of Young Harris, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean Thomas of Young Harris, Edith and Earl Hunter of Lilburn, GA, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Geraldine Sosebee of Buford, GA, Donald and Amanda Sosebee of Marble, NC, Fred and Carolyn Sosebee of Gainesville, GA, George and Wanda Sosebee of Young Harris, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 2:00 pm from the West Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2pm prior to the service. Special music will be presented by Larry Nichols. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Brian Underwood, Phillip Brown, Paul Shook, Max Lovingwood, Frank Uhle and Eddie Bradley. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm.

WILLIAM SHORT McGUIRE
Mr. William Short McGuire, age 92, off Blairsville, Ga. passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. McGuire was born on November 28, 1914 in Atlanta, Ga. the son of the late Samuel H. McGuire and the late Florence Short McGuire. He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Wynn. He attended Tech High, and the University of the South in Sewanee, Tn. He served aboard an Army hospital ship in the Mediterranean during World War II, going to Italy, France, and North Africa. He was a Broker with McGuire Realty in Atlanta for more than fifty years, and a member of the Atlanta Board of Realtors, where he served as Chairman of the Appraisal Committee for several years. He was a member of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
Surviving Mr. McGuire is his loving wife, Kathleen Gibson McGuire of Blairsville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy M. and Alan Hall of Marietta, Ga, and Linda M. and Richard Johnson of Marble Hill, Ga., four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Honaker officiating. Visitation immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery Fund, Inc., 115 Dairy Farm Road, Murphy, N.C. 28906 or to Regency Hospice, 236 South Main Street, Hiawassee, Ga. 30546.

MICHAEL RAY DYER
Mr. Michael Ray Dyer, age 55, of Tanyard St., Blairsville passed on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Dyer was born on March 19, 1952 in Union County, the son of the late John Franklin Dyer and the late Ida Rose Nix Dyer. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Buddy Ramsey. Mr. Dyer attended Pine Top Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Dyer are one daughter and son-in-law, Layla and Jeremy Pate of Gainesville, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Eugene Dyer of Blairsville, Lavada and Rachel Wilson of Blairsville, Paulette Ramsey of Cumming, GA, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis and Olene Dyer, Crett and Merlor Dyer, Wayne and Vietta Mae Dyer, Russell and Edith Dyer, all of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Danielle and Madison San Nichols, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Dyer and Rev. Lloyd Ledford officiating. Special music will be presented by the Dennis Taylor family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Kenny, Scott, Danny, Tim and Larry Dyer, Chris Ramsey, George Dale and Jeremy Pate. Interment will follow in the Pine Top Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening after 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

RUTH SWANSON HUNTER
Mrs. Ruth Swanson Hunter, age 93, of Swanson Rd., Young Harris, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Hunter was born on Dec. 23, 1912 in Towns County, the daughter of the late Virgil Swanson and the late Coreen Thomas Swanson. She was a lifelong resident of Towns and Union Counties. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Melvin Hunter on April of 2004, her oldest son, Hubert F. Chastain of Young Harris, infant daughter, Bernice Chastain and a grandson, Ricky A. Rogers of Hayesville. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Trackrock Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Swanson are one daughter, Leota Hamilton of Young Harris, four sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Harley and Geneva Burch Hunter of Hiawassee, Herman and Frankie Raper McCoy Hunter of Murphy, Earl and Edith Sosebee Hunter of Lilburn, Steve and Katherin Johnston Hunter of Young Harris, two sisters-in-law, Eldie Swanson and Maver Swanson both of Young Harris, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, twenty step great grandchildren, twelve step great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 at 2:00 pm from the Trackrock Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Wade Plott officiating. Special music will be presented by the Trackrock Church Choir, Michelle Hughes and Marsha Barrett. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stanley, Randy, Matthew, Nichalas and Jacob Hunter and Justin Mathis. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Ray Chastain. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church cemetery in Young Harris. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9 pm.

ROBERT ALFRED CHURCHILL
Mr. Robert Alfred Churchill, age 68, of Choestoe Falls Circle, Blairsville, and also of W. Palm Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. Mr. Churchill was born on March 18, 1938 in Walpole, MA, the son of the late Alfred Churchill and the late Rose Larouch Churchill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 2002 with the Avatar Company as a Financial Director after several years of service. Mr. Churchill was a member and past president of the Good Sam’s Club of South Florida and was also a member of the Elk’s Club.
Surviving Mr. Churchill are his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Eva Curodeau Churchill of Blairsville and W. Palm Beach, FL, two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Churchill of Brunswick Hills OH, Gary Vadenais of Miami, FL, one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Clare Churchill of Winterhaven, one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Barry Porter of MA, and also of Orlando, FL, two grandchildren, Marie Rose Churchill and Kenneth Churchill, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation in Mr. Churchill’s memory.

HATTIE BELL GARRETT
Ms. Hattie Bell Garrett, age 77, of Hwy 76, Young Harris, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Ms. Garrett was born on Feb. 15, 1929 in Union County, the daughter of the late John Henry Garrett and the late Mary Harkins Garrett. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Ms Garrett was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Surviving Ms. Garrett are one brother and sister-in-law, John Harold and Sue Garrett of Blairsville, five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Grizzle of Suches, Essie Davis of Blairsville, Edith and Thomas Bradford of Calhoun, GA, Helen and Johnny Abercrombie of Suches, Shelby and G. W. Jenkins of Bonnell, FL, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006 at 3:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Special music was presented by Mr. Ted Noele. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
