ANNIE MAE HUGHES
Mrs. Annie Mae Hughes, age 93 of Plott Town Rd. Young Harris passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Hughes was born on March 24, 1912, the daughter of the late Alfred Kuykendall and the late Maggie Henson Kuykendall. She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hughes in 1945, son, Albert Hughes in 1975, Grandson, Ricky Hughes in 1960, two sisters, Bert Nichols and Gustie Silvey, Brothers, Harry, Bunt, George, Auther and Fannin Kuykendall. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Hughes are one daughter, Maudine Fortenberry of Blairsville, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lewie and Maxine Hughes of Young Harris, Frank and Mable Hughes of Marietta, Bud Hughes of Mayesville, three sisters, Inez Townsend, Essie Hood and Alma Gibson all of young Harris, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lester Sutton and Rev. Billy Stiles officiating. Special music will be presented by Ned Wilcoxin. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeff and Randy Hughes, Greg Fortenberry, Justin Moody, Matthew Youngblood and Marty Hughes. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist church cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will begin on Sunday evening after 3:00pm.

GERALDINE J. COMBS
Mrs. Jessie Geraldean Combs, age 92 of Bitter Creek Place Blairsville, formerly of Palmetto and Bradenton, FL. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Combs was born on Jan. 7, 1913 in Littlestown, PA., the daughter of the late Paul Masomheimer and the late Molly Rider Masonheimer. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell ("Doc") Combs in 1963.Mrs.Combs was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County.
Surviving Mrs. Combs are one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Langman of Blairsville, four sons and daughters-in-law, Alton and Sue Combs of Twin River, MN., Russell and Ann Combs of Bradenton, FL, Paul and Charlotte Combs of New Port Ritchie, FL, Charles and Celeste Combs of Brooksville, FL, one brother, Buddy Masonheimer of Palmetto, FL. seventeen Grandchildren, seven Great-Grandchildren.
A memorial service and interment will be held from the Skyway Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Palmetto, Fl. at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Humane Society Mountain shelter of to the First United Methodist Church of Union County in Mrs. Combs memory.

MARY JANE BRACKETT
Mrs. Mary Jane Brackett, age 76 of Haralson Drive Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Brackett was born on Nov. 3, 1929 in Union County, The daughter of the late Sherman Bridges and the late Lillie Collins Bridges. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband Max Brackett in 2002, a daughter, Angie Voe Brackett Miles in 1980, three brothers, Doyle, Loy and Roy Bridges, three sisters, Velva Souther, Lela Hughes and Joyce Wyatt. Mrs. Brackett was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Brackett are two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda C. Cason of Scottsdale, AZ., J. Diane (Brackett) and Tommy and Stephens of Blairsville, three sisters and brother in laws, Lois and Olin Hughes of Young Harris, Charlene and C.D. Griggs and Betty and Bud Rose all of Blairsville, six Grandchildren, Kevin Cason, Colleen Cason, Clint Seabolt, Mary Beth Miles, Dereck Stephens and Dana Stephens, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Special music will be presented by Patricia Cook and Scott Lance. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, James Bridges, Paul Maggio, Joe White, Steve Hill, Will Craig and Derek Stephens. Interment will follow in the Providence Methodist church cemetery.

LILLIE DAPHNIE DOCKERY
Mrs. Lillie Daphnie Dockery, age 47 of Dockery St., Young Harris, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2005 in the Chatuge Regional nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Dockery was born on Sept. 8, 1957 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Donald Helton and the late Rosita Shedd Helton. She had been a resident of Towns and Union Counties for the past thirty years. Mrs. Dockery was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Dockery are her loving husband of fifteen years, Junior Dockery of Young Harris, two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Mike Bitner, Tina Chaes all of Columbus, GA, one son Billy Jones of Columbus, One brother, Kenneth Helton of Calhoun, GA, four sisters and two brother in laws, Carolyn and Ronald Dunn of Caloun, Frankie Cooper of Waynesville, GA, Tracy Allen of Fairmount, GA, Michelle and Edgar Lee of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Kasey and Cody, Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 4, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Lillie's favorite selection of hymns were presented for the funeral. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Tommy Dockery, James Dockery, Jeffrey Dunn, Harold Henderson, Ronnie Dunn, Justin Helton, Brian Ellis, Ronald Dunn and Wesley Hooper. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery.

CECIL LEE ANDERSON
Mr. Cecil Lee Anderson, age 40 of Picklesimer Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Anderson was born on Oct. 15, 1964 in Union County, The son of Robert Anderson and Donnie Grant Anderson. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Anderson are his parents, Robert and Donnie Anderson of Blairsville, Five sisters and four brother in laws, Ann and Ottis Franklin of Blairsville, Brenda and John Chambers of Blairsville, Dora Appel Cook of Blairsville, Becky and Tim Rich of Blairsville, Peggy and Ken Denning of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, James Anderson of Blairsville, Brandon and Milisia Anderson of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating. Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Travis Gibson, David Franklin, Kenny White, Charles Gibson, Chris Anderson, Melvin Gibson, Tim Rich. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Ottis Franklin and Charlie Payne. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

LOUIS EDWARD BIGGER
Mr. Louis Edward Bigger, age 89 of Stonehenge Drive Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Bigger was born on Sept. 30, 1915 in Parlier, CA., The son of the late James Edward Bigger and the late Mabel Feit Bigger. He had retired from the Madera, CA. Elementary School where he served as Principle for over thirty five years. He also retired as CEO from the Madera Federal Credit Union with thirty five years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Bigger in 1998 and by a sister, Lois Guyett in 2005.Mr. Bigger was a member of the CA. Retired Teachers Assc., A member of the Masonic Lodge in Madera, And also was a member of the Madera Presbyterian Church.
Surviving Mr. Bigger are one son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Bigger of Warne, NC., eight grandchildren, John Riley Bigger of Fresno, Ca., Kelli Marie Romero, Brett, Shawn, Chad and Bryan Bigger all of Santa Maria, CA., twelve great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services and interment will be held from the Madera Cemetery in Madera, Ca. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be to Regency Hospice of N.E. Georgia, P.O. box 494 Hiawassee, GA 30546 in Mr. Bigger’s memory.

DALTON RAY HOWELL
Mr. Dalton Ray Howell, age 27 of Mull Rd. Morganton, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 in Van Texas following an accident. Mr. Howell was born on Oct. 31, 1977 in Mobile, AL., The son Gary Howell and Rose Deese Howell. He Graduated from North Georgia College and Georgia Technical School. He had just received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. At the time of his death he was employed with Cherokee Heating and Air. One of his favorite past times was bull riding, which he had started competing in at the age of seventeen and had competed in many rodeos in the tri state area.Mr. Howell attended Refuge Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Howell are his Mother and father, Gary and Rose Howell of Morganton, Two sisters and brother in laws, Tina and Mike Roberts of Calhoun, Patricia and Johnny Holland of Wildwood, FL, Two brothers and one sister-in-law, Nathan Howell of Blairsville, Johnny and Pam Howell of Calhoun, Nieces and Nephews, Zyndel, Eric, Allen, Stacy, Maria, Dominique and Deonna, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Justin Dickey officiating. Special music will be presented by Jason White. Mr. Alfred Ernest Dixon, age 93 of Stable Gate Dr. Blairsville passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 following an extended illness. Mr. Dixon was born on March 20, 1913 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, The son of the late Ernest Victor Dixon and the late Ann Sarah Fuller Dixon.He retired in 1975 from Niagara Mohawk Electric after over forty two years of service. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Dixon, a brother, Douglas (Bud) Dixon, son, David Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a member of the Coosa United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Dixon are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Dale Allison of Blairsville, Joan and Roy Mons of Walworth, NY., one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Deb Dixon of Moline, IL., three grandchildren, Christa Brockway, Stephen Allison, Caleb Dixon, five great-grandchildren, Hope, Grace, Thomas, Nathanel and Joy, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 from the Coosa United Methodist Church with the Rev. Katie Strals officiating. The family will meet with friends following the services at the church. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to the Coosa United Methodist Church in Mr. Dixon’s memory.

Mr. Ernest Glenn Johnson, age 65 of Golden Ridge Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born on Jan. 16, 1941 in Evanston, IL., The son of the late Else Von Reinsperq Johnson and William Glenn Johnson. He retired in 2001 from the United Systems and Software Inc. where he served as their Accountant. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Johnson are his father, William Glenn Johnson of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas W. and Robin Johnson of Orlando, FL, one sister, Margaret C.Johnson of Clarkston, Mi., many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 from the funeral home chapel with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. The family met with friends following the services.
