EDITH LUELLA YOUNG
Mrs. Edith Luella Young, age 76 St. Cloud, FL. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 in St. Cloud, FL. at the home of her daughters following an extended illness. Mrs. Young was born on Jan. 26, 1930 in Sharpsville, PA., The daughter of the late Robert Bole and the late Charlotte Clark Bole. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Edwin Young in 1999.Mrs.Young was a member of Pine Top Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Young are two daughters and one son-in-law, Laura Marie and Jerry Darter of St. Cloud, FL, Arlene Louise Young Scott of St. Cloud, FL, one sister, Isabell Smith of Akron, OH., two grandchildren, Arthur Jerry Darter and April Lynn Darter, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 from the Pine Top Baptist church with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music was presented by Bobby Duncan and A. J. Darter. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Tony Brown, Bobby Duncan, Nick DiMartino, Frank Merritt, Mark Holbrook and Matt Witherow. Serviving as honorary pallbearers were Dennis Hamby, Home Payne and Doc Espy. Interment followed in the Pine Top church cemetery.

HANS FREDERICK PINK
Mr. Hans Frederick Pink, age 85 of Coosa Run Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 following an extended illness. Mr. Pink was born on June 26, 1921 in Kiel Germany, The son of the late August Albert Pink and the late Emma Homann Pink. He lived in Atlanta from 1953 to 1954 and moved to Big Canoe and lived there until he moved to Blairsville in 1999.He was a Professional Photographer. Mr. Pink was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Ann Pink in 2002.Mr. Pink was active as one of Jehova’s Witnesses for over fifty years.
Survivng Mr. Pink are two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Oliver King of Blairsville, Suzanne May Johnston of Flowery Branch, GA, four grandchildren, former son-in-law, Ron May, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 from the Kingdom Hall on Paradise Rd. with Rod Scogin officiating.

VERENA STAVELY KEIM
Mrs. Verena Stavely Keim, age 81 of W & B Drive Blairsville formerly of Mulberry, FL. passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Keim was born on July 28, 1924 in Stilson, GA, The daughter of the late Orlando Stavely and the late Alma Mock Stavely. Before her retirement she was employed as a Librarian with the Polk County School System. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick M. Keim, brothers, Dick, Burcer and Neal Stavely. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to all. Mrs. Keim was a member of the Mulberry First United Methodist church.
Surviving Mrs. Keim are her loving husband of sixty two years, Russell Keim of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Irene Keim of Bushnell, FL, three daughters and one son-in-law, Russalyn K. Hernandez of Mulberry, FL, Mary Beth Keim of Blairsville, Karol Ann Keim of Blairsville, Kathy and Jesse Minter of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Verena Wooten, Bradey Kemp, Hubert Hernandez, Russell Hernandez, Keim Minter, Troy Lignitz and John Lignitz, eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11:00am from the Seigler funeral home chapel in Mulberry, FL. Interment followed in the Mount Olive church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, evening from 2-4pm from the Seigler Funeral Home.

MARY ELIZABETH QUEEN
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Queen, age 38 of Sugar Ridge Drive Cleveland. GA, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006 following a brief illness. Mrs. Queen was born on July 10, 1968 in Alexandria, VA., The daughter of the late Charles Albert Payne and the late Nancy Lee Kerns Payne. Mrs. Queen was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Payne are her loving husband of eleven years, Ray Queen of Cleveland, three daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Christopher Jewel of Jacksonville, FL, Theresa Covington of Orange County, VA., Ashley Queen of Northport, FL, one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Rachael Payne of Fredericksburg, VA., one sister and brother in law, Tammy and Joe Payne of Woodbridge, VA., four grandchildren, Danielle, Amber, Christopher and Cameron, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Allison officiating. Special music was presented by Dianna Clarkson. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Kenny Thompson, Dan Jones, Jack Brewer, Chris Jewell, Charles Payne and Mike Bramlett. Interment followed in the Pine Top Baptist Church cemetery.

PAUL EDWARD KOWALL
Mr. Paul Kowall, age 88 of Arrowood Pointe Blairsville, formerly of Winterhaven and also of Lakeland FL, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Kowall was born on May 16, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY., The son of the late John Kowalski and the late Veronica Nowacki Kowalski. He was Chief and Director of the Fireman’s Vocational School in Bethpage, Long Island, NY. He was also a lifetime volunteer Fireman. He lived for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren which he found much pleasure in. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Pabst Kowall and a sister, Eleanor Petrullo. Mr. Kowall was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Kowall are one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Carl Anderson of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Kowall of Levittown, NY., three grandchildren, Keri Young, Carl Anderson Jr., and John Kowall, three great grandchildren, Jordan Young, Andrew Young and Collin Anderson, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 10:00am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church with Father Richard Wise officiating. Special music will be presented by Mindy Combs. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Carl Anderson, Jeff Young, John Kowall, James Jordan, John Meek, Gary Gilmer and Carl Anderson, Jr. Intombment will follow on Monday, July 24, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. In Lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Volunteer Fire Dept. of your choice in Mr. Kowalls memory.

PRISCILLA MAY BROWN
Mrs. Priscilla May Brown of Stonehenge Murphy Hwy Blairsville, formerly of Clearwater, FL. passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born on Sept. 29, 1911 in Gloucester, MA., The daughter of the late Harold Orne and the late Catherine MacCloud Orne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph K. Brown, two sisters, Shirley Jackson and Audrey Young and by a brother, Harold orne Jr. Mrs. Brown was of the Episcopal faith.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Ann Thompson of Hiawassee, two grandchildren, Laura Osborne of Terrell, NC., David Thompson of Manderville, LA., four great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced later. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to your favorite Humane Society of your choice in Mrs. Brown’s memory.

ANNABELLE EDWARDS
Mrs. Annabelle Edwards, age 93 of Mocking Bird Trail Blairsville passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Edwards was born on Jan. 23, 1913 in Hillsboro, TN., The daughter of the late Elbert W. Wilder and the late Ida Ellen Jackson Wilder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Stanley Edwards in 2003.She had lived in Blairsville for the past thirty years, moving here from Hialeah, FL. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Blairsville Church of God.
Surviving Mrs. Edwards are one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzie and Jack Baker of Albany, GA, one son, David Stanley Edwards of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Lloyd and Mary Wilder of S.C., Elbert Wilder Jr. of Ohio, five Grandchildren, Debbie Gannon, Jack Baker Jr., George Baker, David Edwards Jr. and Michelle Edwards, twelve Great-Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at 11:00am from the Blairsville Church of God with the Rev. John Davis and Rev. Jack DuPree officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jack Baker Jr., Jack Baker, George Baker, David Edwards Sr., David Baker Jr., and Kenny Boyd. Interment will follow in the Rutledge Hill Cemetery at 3:30pm in Hillsboro, TN.

JOSEPH THOMAS VELLA
Mr. Joseph Thomas Vella, age 89 of Vella Ridge Lane Hayesville passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in the Murphy Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Vella was born on Dec. 25, 1916 in New York City, NY., The son of the late Gennaro Vella. He had retired from the Bulova a Watch company after several years of service. He was preceded in death by Rose Schalaba in 1999.Mr. Vella was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Vella are one son and daughter-in-law, Gennaro and Carol Vella of Hayesville, one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Edward Piwower of Sarasota, FL, one brother, Frank Vella of Babylon, NY., four Grandchildren, Marline Vella, Joseph Vella, Stephen Piwower and Michael Piwower, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced. Interment will follow in the Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Coram, NY.

JOLENE BRIGHT
Mrs. Jolene Bright, age 58 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Bright was born on Dec. 16, 1947 in Union County, The daughter of H. A. Rogers and the late Addie Kate Davenport Rogers. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She had retired from Levi’s in Blue Ridge with over thirty five years of service. She was preceded in death by her mother, Addie Kate Rogers in 2000, a brother, Darrell Rogers in 1980 and by a brother in law, Larry Holbrook in 2000.Mrs.Bright was a member of Confidence United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Bright are her loving husband of thirty seven years, Bobby Bright of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Melinda Bright of Blairsville, father, H. A. Rogers of Blairsville one brother, Farrell Rogers of Blairsville, two sisters, Linda Holbrook of Blairsville and Cathy Burrell of Blairsville, two Grandchildren, Joshua Bright and Megan Bright, Nieces, Kim Nix and Penny Tanner, nephews, Dustin and Kevin Rogers, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Strickland, Rev. William Sisum and Rev. Jeff Foster officiating. Special music will be presented by Pat Strickland and Cheri Parker. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Bryan Nix, Jeff Tanner, J. E. Corn, Russell Thomas, Travis Jones and Darren Jones. Interment will follow in the Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.
