ALICE ESTER FERRAND
Mrs. Alice Ester Ferrand, age 89 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville formerly of Haines City, FL, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mrs. Ferrand was born on Oct. 20, 1916 in Milwaukee, WI., The daughter of the late Charles Pagel and the late Ella Altman Pagel. Before her retirement she served as secretary and city clerk for the City of Winterhaven, FL. Mrs. Ferrand was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Mrs. Ferrand are one daughter, Karen E. Simpson of Winterhaven, FL, one son, Gary Thomas of Clearwater, FL, her dear friend, Don Willmot of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to your favorite charity in Mrs. Ferrand’s memory.

WILLIAM JAMES BRENNAN
Mr. William James Brennan, age 87 of Stonehenge Dr. Blairsville passed away on Monday, August 14, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Brennan was born on Feb. 10, 1919 in Newark, NJ., The son of the late John James Brennan and the late Catherine Brennan. He was a veteran of the US Army of WWII. Before his retirement at age 75 he owned and operated a Bicycle sales and repair shop. He was well known in the bicycle world and was inducted in the Bicycle Hall of Fame. He was also featured in the book "Hearts of Lions". He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty three years, Frances Barbara Keene Brennan and a brother, John Brennan Jr. and by a sister, Gertrude Unkert. Mr. Brennan was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving Mr. Brennan are a step daughter and son-in-law, Patricia ( Penny ) and Sterling Wise of Morganton, one sister and brother in law, Genvieve and Allen Hayes of Whiting, NJ., four grandchildren, Michael Wise, Sharon Youngman, Christopher and Timothy Wise, several nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at 11:30am from the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to Georgia Mtn. Hospice, PO box 580 Jasper, GA 30143 in Mr. Brennan’s memory.

MILAGROS JIMENEZ-CANO
Little Miss Milagros Guadalupe Jimenez-Cano infant daughter of Manuel Jimenez-Cruz and Viviana Tobar-Cano went to Heaven on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in the Fannin Regional Hospital.
Surviving Milagros are her parents, Manuel Jimenez-Cruz and Viviana Tobar-Cano of Blairsville, two sisters, Maria Margarita Jimenez-Cano and Araceli Jimenez-Cano both of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, cousins also survive.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 11:00am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. Interment followed in St. Clare’s Columbarium.

CHARLES EVERETT OTT
Mr. Charles Everett Ott, age 93of Rutherfordton, NC. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2006 following a brief illness. Mr. Ott was born on Nov. 23, 1912 in Allegheny County, PA., The son of the late Charles F. Ott and the late Viola Walker Ott. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty six years, Emma E. Ott in 2003.He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM and also of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Ott was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Hayesville.
Surviving Mr. Ott are one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Nancy Ott of Rutherfordton, NC., one brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Midge Ott of Winter Park, FL, six Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2006 from the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Church in Hayesville, NC. with Father John Rice officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd in Hayesville in Mrs. Ott’s memory.

MICHAELENE M. CUSHMAN
Mrs. Michaelene Markuson Cushman, age 65 of Honey Bell Lane Blairsville, formerly of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Cushman was born on July 10, 1940 in Chicago, IL., The daughter of the late Martin A. Markuson and the late Carole Kaliski Markuson. Mrs. Cushman was a member of the Unity Church of the Mountains.
Surviving Mrs. Cushman are her loving husband of forty seven years, Michael Cushman of Blairsville, two sons and daughters-in-law, DanJohn and Laura Cushman of Blairsville, Kenneth and Kathy Cushman of Vero Beach, FL, one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bill Duffney of Allen, TX., four Grandchildren, Kim, Darby and Amalachi Cushman, and Joseph Duffney, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006 from 6-9pm.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 from the Unity Center of Vero Beach in Vero Beach, FL. with the Rev. DONALD ANDREW KEMP
Mr. Donald Andrew Kemp, age 60 of Blairsville, GA, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2006 following an extended battle with rheumatoid arthritis due to a massive coronary. He was born on Aug. 22, 1945 in Swannanoa, NC., The son of the late George A. and Lucille Tucker Kemp. He was the second of three children. He bounced around the state during his formative years from Milledgeville then later to Augusta with his family. He left home at the age of thirteen to attend Carlisle Military Academy, and then attended Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in Engineering.
In his younger years, Don was a member of Cypress Gardens Ski team, A Scout master, placed second in the Georgia Car rodeo, was instrumental in starting the Fayette county Soccer league, and served as it’s president for seven years. Don was the consummate outdoorsman whose passions covered a wide range of activities, including hunting, deep sea fishing, gardening, hiking, kayaking, snow skiing and water skiing.
As rheumatoid arthritis placed greater strains on him physically, Don never let it slow him down, he served in numerous roles at his church, First United Methodist of Blairsville. Chairman of the Board of Trusties, Methodist Men, Etc…You could often find Don wandering the halls at night making sure that everything was turned off and locked up, or out working on the grounds. He also served on the Board of the Boy Scouts for Union County.
Don left an indelible impression of everyone he met, as if he had known you for his entire life. His life was one of conviction in his beliefs and love for his family and friends.
Surviving Don are his loving and devoted wife of forty years, Eva Tolliver Kemp of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Maria Kemp of Duluth, GA, two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Cecilia Kemp of Augusta, Dr. Doug and Dr. Ginny Kemp of Athens, many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lee Kemp in 1985.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at 11:00am from the First United Methodist Church of Blairsville with the Rev. Eddie Herring officiating. Special music will be presented by Jeff Bauman, John Sutton and Don Bailey. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Greg Buchanan, Tommy Jordan, Keith Warren, Terry Legg, Keith Bryant, Frank Mullen and Doug Kemp. Interment and graveside services will follow at 4:00pm from the Camp Memorial cemetery in Fayetteville, GA.

ABBIE LEE SMITH LITTLE
Mrs. Abbie Lee Smith Little, age 80 of Seays Rd. Austell, GA, formerly of Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 following an extended illness. Mrs. Little was born on Sept. 18, 1925 in Union County, The daughter of the late Moody Smith and the late Ira Botts Smith. She had retired from Kennestone Hospital as a surgical technician after twenty eight years of service. She was a Rosie Riveter during WWII. She was a member of the National Assoc. of Surgical Technologist and past President of the local chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louin John Little in 2003.Mrs.Little was a member of Bethany Baptist church of Blairsville and than became a member of the Gospel Light Community church, EMC.
Surviving Mrs. Little are one daughter, Debra Truett of Austell, one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Marlene Little of Huntsville, AL., two sisters, Maxine Jones of Blairsville, Evelyn Hogsed of Blairsville, three Grandchildren, Allen Truett of Roswell, GA, Kyle Little and Lindsey Little both of Huntsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Schuller officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Alan Truett, Mike Little, Kyle Little, James Ezell, Tom Truett and Gary Hogsed. Interment will follow in the Bethany Baptist church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9-11am.

MICHAEL STEELE KAPLER
Mr. Michael Steele Kapler, age 53 of Whatever Way Blairsville passed away suddenly on Wed. April 11, 2007 in Orlando, FL. Mr. Kapler was born on Feb. 10, 1954 in Lakewood, NJ., the son of Mary Joorman Kapler and the late John Kapler. Michael graduated from the Divers Training Academy in Ft. Pierce, FL. and worked as a Commercial Diver, later he started his own Paint Contracting Business( Mike Kapler Painting). He also worked in the Hotel Business. Michael was a Naturalist and Conservationist. In his younger years he was an avid Surfer, but his main hobby was Arrowhead Collecting as he wanted to preserve our Native American History. He was an extraordinary Human Being and a wonderful father, husband and a good friend to many.
Surviving Michael are his loving wife, Yajaira Lissette Kapler of Blairsville, three daughters and one son-in-law, Gerry and Justin Dunbar of Deltona, FL, Lissette Kapler and Kamila Kapler both of Blairsville, mother, Mary Kapler of Blairsville, step mother, Madaline Kapler of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Janie Hall of Hobe Sound, FL, f our sisters and two brother in laws, Lynda and Richard Akers of Tavares, FL, Cynthia Hodal of Deland, FL, June and Ronald Laster ofTaveres, FL, Julie Parson of TX., mother in law, Candida Monasterios of Orlando, FL, father in law, Dominick Giannelli of Folson, CA., sister-in-law, Xiomara Giannelli of Orlando, FL, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 5:00pm from the Home. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a trust % United Community Bank for his daughters college fund in Michael's memory.
