VIVIAN MAE KITTLE
Mrs. Vivian Mae Kittle, age 79 of Kittle Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007 in the Clay County Care Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Kittle was born on March 16, 1927 in Cleveland, OH., the daughter of the late Raymond Schafer and the late Florence Thome Schafer. She along with her husband owned and operated a roofing company for several years. They had made their home in Blairsville for the past thirty two years, moving here from Ft. Pierce, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Kittle in 2000 and by a sister, Betty Jane Duncan in 1978.Mrs.Kittle was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mrs. Kittle are two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Stanley Richardson of Blairsville, Carol and Albert Martin of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Schafer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, two nieces, Linda and Mike Doud, Gretchen and Steve Everman, eight grandchildren, Lesa Byrd, Nannie Loner, Kimberly Bridges, Tawana Aaron, Suzan Sanford, Tina Wade, Kristy Johnson and John Martin, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 7:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Mindy Combs, Tammy Blassingame, Danita Kennedy and Patsy Phillips. Interment will follow in the Kittle Family cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm

TED WILLIAM COOK Jr.
Mr. Ted William Cook Jr., age 80 of Norsk Way Blairsville, formerly of Live Oak, FL. passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Cook was born on July 24, 1926 in St. Petersburg, FL, the son of the late Ted William Cook Sr. and the late Sarah Powell Cook. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He was a member and twice Past Master of the Carlisle, AK. # 587 Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by a son, Ted Cook III. Mr. Cook was a member of the Melody Christian Life Center.
Surviving Mr. Cook are one daughter and son-in-law, Candace and D. J. Johnson of Blairsville, one sister Betty Piepho of Tampa, FL, two grandchildren, Jordan Cook and Isley Rose Johnson, aunt, Jewell Fillman of Tampa, FL, former wife, Rose Rhodes, step daughter, Sandy Cook, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. Interment will follow in the Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Carlisle Masonic Lodge in Mr. Cook’s memory.

KATHERINE (KAY) HOURIHAN
Mrs. Katherine (Kay) Hourihan, age 103 of Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home. She was born in Brookline, MA., to the late Julia Kelley Carey and John T. Carey. She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Carey, her sister, Ellen Carey Clark and her daughter, Maureen Hourihan O’Brien. Her late husband, George Donovan Hourihan died in 1951 and Kay remained a widow for the past fifty five years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George V. and Tina Hourihan of Blairsville, A brother in law, J. B. Hourihan of Gainesville, FL, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
She attended business college in Boston and worked in the Boston area. In 1934 she married George D. Hourihan, A Miami Native and Pioneer, and moved to Miami. She remained in Miami until moving to Blairsville in 1999, to live with her son and daughter-in-law, George and Tina Hourihan. Kay worked as a Judicial Secretary and retired from the State of Florida. In retirement she worked as a secretary for doctors and attorneys.She also did church and hospital volunteer work. She was a world traveler and had visited the Far East, Middle East and Europe.
Kay was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Miami where she attended Mass daily. In Blairsville she was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assissi in Blairsville and also at Holy Rosary in Miami. There will be no viewing and interment will be at the City of Miami cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assissi Building Fund Kitchen Account.

LINDA PICKELSIMER ALLEN
Mrs. Linda Pickelsimer Allen, age 58 of Old Shope Farm Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 from injuries received in a house fire. Mrs. Allen was born on Jan. 17, 1949 in Union County, the daughter of the late Howard Pickelsimer and the late Wilma Shope Pickelsimer. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She and her husband owned and operated, A & D Garbage Service for the late several years. Linda was a loving wife and a friend to all who knew her, she never met a stranger. One of Linda’s favorite past time was fishing, which she was rather good at. Mrs. Allen was a member of Faith Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Allen are her loving husband of forty two years, Lloyd Allen of Blairsville, two aunts, Eva Shope Bowers of Blairsville, Ina Belle Voyles of Blairsville, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ric Hurd and Rev. Bryan Mason officiating. Special music will be presented by The Kelly Trio. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Randy Shope, Terry Pickelsimer, Ronnie Davis, Caleb, Casey and Cody Bearden. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist church cemetery.

VINCENT JAMES BEALE
Mr. Vincent J. Beale, age 84 of Blairsville, GA, died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007. Vincent was born on March 29, 1922 in Detroit, MI. He was a resident of Blairsville for the past twenty six years. He graduated from Detroit Catholic High School, he then attended Wayne State University briefly before enlisting in the US Air Force where he served three years with the 8th Air Force in England.. He was a lead Bombadier with 23 missions as a first LT. Vincent was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church.Upon returning to the States he joined the City of Detroit Fire Dept., serving 23 years.He retired as a Captain in 1978 and moved to Blairsville with his wife Gwenn.
Survivors include his wife Gwenn, three daughters Judith Chabala and husband Barry of Canton, MI. Nancy Beale Grisel and husband Christopher of Cedar City, UT and Cynthia O’Brien and husband Daniel of Belleville, MI. two step children Kay Andersonof Jupiter, FL and Christian Anderson and wife Susan of Palm Beach Gardens, FL.Seven Grandchildren, Three great-grandchildren and a Brother in law Gordon Fuller and wife Patricia and their five sons, many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.Mr. Beale was preceded in death by brothers Robert, Albert, John(Jackie) and a sister Dorothy.
Funeral Services for Mr. Beale will be held at 11am Saturday, February 24, 2007 from thE St. Fabian Catholic Church in Farmington Hills, MI. Interment will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 til 8:30 pm on Friday at the McCabe Funeral Home in Farmington Hills, MI. BRUCE RAYMOND TUTHILL
Mr. Bruce Raymond Tuthill, age 81 of Anchorage Dr. Blairsville passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 in the Kennestone Hospital in Marietta following an extended illness. Mr. Tuthill was born on Jan. 2, 1926 in Mattituck, NY., the son of the late Raymond Elisha Tuthill and the late Ann Luce Tuthill. He retired from Grumman Aircraft Company in 1986 with over twenty years of service. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines of WWII. While living in New York, he was a Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. and also was a Deacon of his church. He loved the water and loved boating, and at one time he was a Boat Master. Bruce loved helping others any way that he could. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria and by a brother Austin Tuthill. Mr. Tuthill was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Tuthill are his loving wife, Joan Tuthill of Blairsville, one son, Rick Spector of Land of Lakes, FL, mother in law, K. Muriel Jefferson of Blairsville, brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Pam Jefferson of Hiawassee, close friends, The Nine Family of Florida, two great friends and prayer warriors, Jack Richards of TX., and John Nicely of Clearwater, FL, several cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 2:00pm from the Antioch Baptist church with the Rev. George Cline and Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Ted and Joy Noele. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Doug Centin, Bob Hutchinson, Carl Buser, Bill Turnage, Brian Brewer and Bobby Warren. . Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the North Georgia Honor Guard conducting military honors. The family will meet with friends on Friday from 1-2pm prior to the service at the church.In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the House of Prayer church Missions, Myong Paik.

BILLY MERCER DAVIS
Mr. Billy Mercer Davis, age 77 of Black Ankle Ln. Blue Ridge, GA, formerly of Woodstock, GA, passed away on Feb. 26, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Davis was born on Oct. 30, 1929 in Davisboro, GA, the son of Gladys Mercer Davis and the late W. L. Davis. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also was a Shriner.
Surviving Mr. Davis are his loving wife of twenty four years, Cynthia Howell Davis of Blue Ridge, mother, Gladys Davis of Jacksonville, FL, two daughters, Julian Davis Cairns of Australia, Muffett Ann Ripley of Lakeland, FL, one son, Douglas Alan Davis of Roswell, GA, one step daughter, Candace Martel of Woodstock, one brother, Larry Davis, three sisters Betty Taylor, Ivelyn Davis and Frances Wallis all of Jacksonville, FL, three grandchildren, Alexes Ripley, Kaleigh and Samantha Martel, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 4:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to United Hospice in Mr. Davis’s memory.

MABEL B. GOSS
Mrs. Mabel B. Goss, age 95 of Lakeside Drive Blairsville formerly of Newcomers Town, OH., passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2007in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Goss was born on Dec. 21, 1911 in Helena, AR., the daughter of the late Harry Menefee and the late Arabelle Menefee. She had lived in Cleveland, OH., New Jersey and Atlanta, and had lived in Blairsville since 1993.Mrs.Goss was a loving and great mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Winfield Menefee.
Surviving Mrs. Goss are two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Harry Williams of Blairsville, Nancy A. Eberhardt of Westerville, OH., nine grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A private family memorial service was held. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Nursing Home in Mrs. Goss’s memory.

NORMAN CHARLES RIGGS
Mr. Norman Charles Riggs, age 80 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away on Friday, March 2, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Riggs was born on July 27, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA., the son of the late Marshall Riggs and the late Henrietta Sutcliffe Riggs. He was the owner and operator of Auto Friends Inc. for over fifteen years. Mr. Riggs was an Elder, Deacon and Choir member of the Roxborough and the Mountain Presbyterian church.
Surviving Mr. Riggs are his loving wife of sixty years, Dorothy Landis Riggs of Blairsville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman Kenneth and Pamela Riggs of Toms River, NJ., Glen and Mary Riggs of Harleysville, PA., two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Daniel Moss of Blairsville, Melanie and Joseph DelBorrello of Gilbertsville, PA., seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services were held on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00am from the Mountain Presbyterian church with the Rev. K. Travis Adams officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Westminster cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice in Mr. Riggs memory.
