Elizabeth “Lisa” Marie Phillips, age 43 of Fayetteville diedNovember 19, 2006 at Healthfield Hospice in Riverdale. She is survived by her husband G. Edward Phillips of Fayetteville; daughter Mary (Kevin) Brake of Hampton; son’s Eric (Alison) Phillips of Lee’s Summit, MO and Chris Phillips of Fayetteville; grandchildren Lisa Brake, Cidney Phillips, Lyle Phillips and Wyatt Phillips; mother Ann Helinski of Tulsa, OK.; brothers John (Ann) Helinski, David (Sharon) Helinski and Rick (Sue) Helinski all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Judy (Gary) Schellinger of Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded by her father Harry Helinski and brother Robert Helinski.

Funeral services will be held privately with the family. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 22, 2006, between 3-7 PM at Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. iIntermentwill be at Camp Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Winship Cancer Institute Development Office, 1762 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA. 30322

Robert T. Taylor

Mr. Robert Trexler Taylor of Peachtree City, Georgia, diedDecember 2, 2006 at age 57. He was a native of Salisbury, NC where he attended Salisbury High School. He graduated from Duke University in 1972 with a degree in Accounting. At Duke, he was a member of the AFROTC. Following graduation, he served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as Controller of Fox Appliance Parts. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Peach State Corvette Club and an avid golfer. He is survived by Bonnie Herald Taylor, his wife of 31 years; his son, Chad Robert Taylor of Peachtree City; his parents, Joe and Wilburn Taylor of Salisbury, NC; his brother and his wife, Joe and Susan Taylor of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; his niece, Jennifer Taylor Kennedy of Melbourne, FL; and his nephew, Steven P. Taylor of Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Dec. 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 206 Willowbend Rd., Peachtree City. iIntermentwill be at Westminster Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. After the service and interment, the family will receive friends at his residence at 635 Grecken Green, Peachtree City. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Robert Trexler Taylor to the hospice Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30290.

Lizzie Jeanette Partain

Lizzie Jeanette Partain, of Sharpsburg, diedDecember 3, 2006. She was preceded in death by her brothers R.V. Parker and J.D. Parker. She is survived by her husband of over 48 years, James Billy Partain; daughter Debbie & Capt. Patrick Bailey of Alaska; son James & Tammy Partain, Jr. of Sharpsburg; grandchildren Brian Bailey, Loren Bailey, and Eric Partain; brother R.L. Parker, sisters Syble Ford and Pam Garrett.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Steve Carroll and Rev. Edgar Waters will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Linda Taylor

Mrs. Linda Taylor, of Fayetteville, diedDecember 4, 2006. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Taylor. She is survived by her husband Howard Dana Taylor of Fayetteville, sons Howard I. and Rebecca Taylor of Gastonia, NC and Kenneth and Robin Taylor of Riverview, FL; and also by grandchildren Jeffrey, Wesley, William and Joseph Taylor.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Westmoreland and Rev. Bob Partridge will officiate. Burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Thomas Griffith

Thomas Griffith, of Fairburn, diedon December 6, 2006. Mr. Griffith was a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Griffith, parents, James & Ida Griffith, two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his daughters, Pam & Bill Pleuss of Peachtree City, Deborah & John Boatner of Knoxville, TN; Son, Thomas Griffith of KY; grandchildren, Kris Smith, Kim Haywood, Billy Pleuss, Josh Smith and Tricia Smith; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell, Peachtree City. Rev. Bob Edmiston will officiate. Lawrence W. McAlpine, Jr.

Mr. Lawrence W. McAlpine, Jr., 83 of Peachtree City, went to be with the Lord December 5th, 2006.

He was bornin Passaic, NJ but lived most of his life in Savannah, Georgia.

He retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad after 40 years. The last 14 years of his employment, he was General Chairman for the Railway Carmen's Union.

He was in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves from 1942 - 1946 where he saw a lot of action in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters and was in Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered.

Mr. McAlpine was a member of Whitefield United Methodist Church in Savannah for over 50 years where he was a Sunday School teacher, Methodist Youth Fellowship counselor, and head of the Pastor-Parrish committee for many years. He was also a Methodist Lay preacher.

He moved to Peachtree City to live with his daughter and her family in 2004. He was known as "Mr. Mac" to many Peachtree City residents who would go by on the Lake Peachtree cart path and wave at him as he sat out on his patio every day. He would give popsicles to children whose moms would bring them up to say "Hello".

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lois Lanier McAlpine. Survivors include son Larry and Janice McAlpine of Savannah, and daughters, Lois and Henry Higgins of Acworth, Lucie and Lee Davis of Peachtree City, and Laurette Edenfield of Sharpsburg; brother, George McAlpine of Carey, NC, sisters: Josephine Hanly of Solvang, CA and Teddy Ronan of Oxnard, CA, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2 PM in Savannah at the Fox and Weeks Funeral Home Chapel with his grandson, Rev. Chris Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Fox and Weeks in Savannah.

Eva Ruth Adams

Eva Ruth Adams, of Fayetteville, diedDecember 7, 2006. She was bornSeptember 15, 1916 to Henry & Inez Jackson in Fayette County. She was a lifetime member of East Point Christian Church and also a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Naomi Group. She enjoyed traveling with her family to Panama City. She was preceded in death by her grandson Chuck Akins. She is survived by daughters Teresa & Darrell Newby of Fayetteville, Sue & James Akins of Marietta, Frances & Clyde Prestage of Fayetteville, and Cheryl & Albie Landwehr of Woodstock; grandchildren Scott Newby, Bryan & Missy Newby, Traci & Scott Tucker, Debbie Wells, Jennifer & Tommy Graves and Mary Landwehr; great-grandchildren Calem, Kyleigh, and Carson Newby, Evan Tucker and Emma & Ashley Graves; brother Hulett & Nita Jackson of Fayetteville; sister Mary Gooch of Griffin and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Wendell Baggett and Rev. Dan Roberts will officiate. iIntermentwill follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Adam’s memory to the Christian City Children’s Home, 7300 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291.

Benjamin Thomas Lunceford

Benjamin Thomas Lunceford, 49, of Fayetteville, GA diedDecember 7, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Garland Lunceford, Jr. and Louise Mary Sparks Lunceford. He is survived by his brothers Albert and Julie Lunceford, III of Fayetteville and Sparks Lunceford of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son, Fayetteville with Pastor Jeff Lowe officiating. The burial will be at 3:00 PM at the Bold Spring Methodist Church Cemetery in Franklin, GA. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Christine Groesser

Mrs. Christine M. Groesser of Peachtree City, GA diedDecember 11, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Teddy Groesser of Peachtree City, GA; son, Jason and Jaime Groesser of Peachtree Corners, GA; daughter, Denise and Todd Bratcher of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley and Isabella.

Graveside services will be held Thursday Dec. 14 at 3:30 PM at Westminster Memorial Gardens with Minister Billy Rowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 Pm Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice Advantage, 101 Yorktown Drive, Fayetteville, GA 30214, or the American Cancer Society, 135 Bradford Square Suite B, Fayetteville, GA 30215.
