Maria Jett
Mrs. Maria Lennon Jett went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
She was bornin Knoxville, Tennessee March 28, 1917. She traveled and supported her surviving ministerial husband Rev. Clarence Jett from Tennessee to Texas for over sixty years, thirty-five of them in Georgia.
On June 3, of this year they would have been marriedseventy years.
She is also survived by her daughter Rebecca Barge (Leeman) and son Rev. Steven Jett (Patsy).
She also leaves behind five beautiful and handsome grandchildren who gave her eleven greater-than-great-grandchildren.
Over her whole life, she was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She was an excellent teacher and loved and served her Lord, Jesus Christ.
She will be sadly but gratefully missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church where memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 12, 2008, with Rev. Darwin Caldwell and Rev. Mike Woods officiating. iIntermentwill be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Union City.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 12:00 before the service at the church. They will also greet friends Friday, January 11, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the missions offering at the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, 1150 Jefferson Ave. East Point, GA 30344.

Eleanor Jones
Mrs. Eleanor Berry Jones of Fayetteville diedJanuary 8, 2008. Mrs. Jones retired from the Fayette County School System.
She was one of the most popular and well loved teachers at Fayette County High School.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald M. Jones Sr.
She is survived by sons, Jere Jones of Fayetteville, Bruce Jones and his wife Melissa of Peachtree City; Daughter, Ellen Baergen of Rockledge, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday January 12, 2008 at 4:00PM at Camp Memorial Park. Rev. Mark Westmoreland will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 PM at the Funeral Home.

Evelyn Thompson
Evelyn Lucille Chandler Thompson, age 93, of Atlanta passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in Baton Rouge, LA.
She was bornFebruary 16, 1914 in Atlanta. The daughter of the late Evelyn Lucille Lewis Chandler of Vicksburg, MS and Atlanta, and Frederick Cleveland Chandler of Loganville and Atlanta, GA.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alton Thompson of Wrens, GA, and Atlanta, and her son Robert Frederick Thompson of Hapeville, GA.
A graduate of Mary P. Willingham in Blue Ridge, GA, Evelyn conducted product motivational research for Atlanta and national firms.
She was a member of the Atlanta Audubon Society, the Atlanta Historical Society and the Georgia Genealogical Society.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Fayetteville Chapel, the interment will be at Camp Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 10:30 – 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Judith (Judy) Thompson Landreneau and her husband Lindsey Edward Landreneau of Baton Rouge, her granddaughter Susan Landreneau Richardson and her husband Paul Stanley Richardson, Jr. and their son Paul Stanley Richardson III all of Houston, TX.

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Smith, 59, of Griffin diedJanuary 7. 2008.
She was preceded in death by parents Paul and Eulah Carlton, Dale Carlton, Joan Carlton, and Kathy Hudler. She is survived by husband Wesley G. Smith, daughter Stephanie S. and Chad White of Fayetteville; son Paul W. and Melanie Smith of Molena; grandchildren Hayden, Anna, Gabriel, Kaitlyn, Grace, and Philip Smith of Molena and Garrett and Molly White of Fayetteville; brothers John and Bonnie Carlton of Maryland, Lee and Dana Carlton of Maryland, and Philip Carlton of Maryland; sister Louise and Harvey Wagner of Belair, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

Sara Catherine Keene
Sara Catherine Keene, 21, of Fayetteville, Georgia, diedJanuary 3, 2008, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta following complications from leukemia. Sara was the daughter of Elaine (Cookie) Keene of Fayetteville and Richard Keene of Homerville, Georgia.
An avid Yellow Jacket fan, she was a fourth year Materials Science and Engineering major at Georgia Tech and a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the Pan-Hellenic Council. While battling leukemia and hospitalized much of this past semester, Sara was able to remain enrolled at Georgia Tech and completed four classes. With the support of her Tech professors and student services, Sara completed her course work on line at home and in the hospital.
She was a 2004 Honor Graduate of Fayette County High School where she was editor of the yearbook for two years and a member of the National Honor Society. Over 15 years of dance training lead to her selection and participation in the 2003 Governor's Honors Program in dance. Her love of ballet was most evident each Christmas when she performed in The Nutcracker. The highlight of her dance career was her lead performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy her senior year. A very special place which was dear to her heart was Camp Glisson in Dahlonega where she attended Methodist youth retreats.
At 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, a memorial service will be held at North Fayette United Methodist Church (770 461 2409, www.nfumc.com) on New Hope Road in Fayetteville where she was a member. Sara is survived by her mother, father, step-mother Rena Keene of Homerville, GA, grandmother Joyce Keene Vandivere of Lakeland, GA, two step-sisters Rosie Martinsen and Stacey Lutz, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her family will receive friends on Friday, January 11, from 5 to 8 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son (770 461 7641) on Jeff Davis Drive in Fayetteville. Kenneth Higgins
Kenneth Joseph Higgins, 54, of Fayetteville diedJanuary 5, 2008. He worked for Delta Airlines since November 1979 and was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Mr. Higgins also was an amateur radio operator, call sign KF4ZAV, and he was an amazing cook.
He is survived by his wife Trish; sons Sean & Lauren Higgins of Newnan, Tom Higgins of Atlanta, and Robert Higgins of Fayetteville; daughter Trisha Higgins of Fayetteville; mother Doll Higgins of Tomball, TX; brother Mike and Sandy Higgins of Spring, TX; and sisters Carol &Mark Shaughnessy of Phoenix, AZ and Loretta & Warren Wolfson of Chicago, IL.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Father Thomas Reist will officiate. iIntermentwill follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
