Mable Emmett Ingram, 69, of Barnesville, diedWednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 in an Upson County hospital in Thomaston.
A native of Lamar County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie E. Emmett and the late Sara Clark Emmett.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Ingram of Barnesville; daughters, Sara Arlene Ingram, Glena Sue Ingram Waters of Barnesville and Wyona Ingram Hamby of Atlanta; a son, Charles A. "Hotshot" Ingram Jr. of Barnesville; three grandchildren; a sister, Myrtice Emmett Piper of Cedartown and a brother, Ernest Emmett of Sugar Hill.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in New Life Baptist Church in Barnesville. The Revs. Elmer J. Padgett and Charles Killingsworth officiated. Interpretation for the deaf was done by Sign Language Interpreting Specialists of Norcross. iIntermentwas in Lamar Memory Gardens in Barnesville.

Lee Allen Kemp, 83, of Barnesville, diedMonday, Dec. 1, 1997 in an Upson County hospital.
A native of Midville, he was a member of Barnesville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Coleman Kemp of Barnesville; a brother, Willie Kemp of Midville; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home. The Revs. Wayne Sykes and Garth Forster officiated. iIntermentwas in Midville City Cemetery.

Ethel Brannon Padgett
Ethel Marie Brannon Padgett, 59, of Barnesville, diedSunday, Dec. 7, 1997 in a Spalding County hospital.
A native of Spalding County, she was the daughter of the late Boyce Brannon and the late Mildred Hill Brannon. She was a retired self-employed tailor. She was a member of the Searcy Memorial United Methodist Church in Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, Merion G. Padgett of Barnesville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Paul Askew, Marla and Paul Godbout, all of White City, Kan.; grandchildren, Amber, Diane and Jamie Padgett of Clearwater, Fla., Allen, Jeramie and Andrew Askew, James, Ryan and Michael Godbout, all of White City, Kan.; sisters, Catherine Brock of Griffin, Velma Skipper of Conyers; a brother, William "Bill" Brannon of Barnesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Barnesville. The Rev. James W. McAllister officiated and interment was in Lamar Memory Gardens.

David W. Newton
David W. Newton of Sappington Road, Barnesville diedWednesday, Jan. 14, 1998.
Mr. Newton was the son of Deborah Mays Carringer and John F. Carringer of Fayetteville. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed as a stone coordinator and shape carver in Griffin.
Survivors other than his parents include his wife, Beth Tessmer Newton of Barnesville; a brother, John V. Carringer of Clarkdale; a sister, Lou Ann Kash of Homer, N.Y.; one aunt, Ann Deason of Griffin; an uncle, Robert J. Graham of Conyers; and several cousins, including Lynda, Sherrie, Johnny, Danielle and Bobby.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Shon Johnson officiated. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Stockbridge.

William Ronnie Smith
William Ronnie Smith, 52, of Thomaston, diedTuesday, Jan. 13, 1998 in a Spalding County hospital.
A native of Thomaston, Mr. Smith was a parts manager for Moore Chevrolet.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Waltz of Gainesville and Pam White of Thomaston; four brothers, Donald Smith of Monroe, the Rev. Hugh Smith of Thomaston, the Rev. Hulet Smith of Conyers and Kenneth Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; half-sister, Iona Norris of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and half-brother, William Smith of Brooks.
Services were held Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998 in the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The Revs. Hugh Smith, Hulet Smith and Tommy Smith officiated. iIntermentwas in Upson Memorial Gardens in Thomaston.
Jimmy Lodge King Sr.
Jimmy Lodge King Sr. of Thomaston diedTuesday, Jan. 27, 1998 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. King was a retired corrections officer at Upson County Correctional Institute and a farmer.
Survivors include his wife Annie Cartwright King of Thomaston; nine children and their spouses, Flossie Hicks, Joanne and Bobby Jackson, Yvonne and Robert Collier, Henry King, Richard King, Ricky and Phyllis King, Eugene King and Dirish King, all of Thomaston; and Mary Ann and Edward Walker of Manchester; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina J. and Thomas Johnson of Atlanta and Bernice and Horace Atwater of Thomaston; a brother, Allen Alsobrooks of Milner; and several grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Bentley and Sons Funeral Home of Thomaston.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Lyons Jr. of Forsyth; two sisters, Fannie Bentley of Barnesville and Josephine Smith of Atlanta; an aunt, Fannie Mae Dorsey of Thomaston; two grandchildren and a grandchild-in-law, Timothy and Marilyn Welch of Forest Park and Mamie Johnson of Morrow; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and special friends, Helen Louise Welch of Griffin and Annie Lois Byrd of Culloden; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998 at Sugar Hill AME Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Willie J. Colbert officiated.
