Mary Sallie W. Gilbert, 89, of Lamar County diedThursday, Feb. 4, 1999 at the Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth.
A Monroe County native, Mrs. Gilbert was bornJune 9, 1909 to Hunt and Elizah Haygood. She was a longtime member of Sand Hill CME Church, where she served as an usher and president of the usher board.
Survivors include a son, J.C. Washington Sr. of Barnesville; a stepson, Lewis C. Washington of Barnesville; five grandchildren and their spouses, J.C. Washington Jr. and Walter and Mildred Harden, all of Barnesville, Sallie Pearl and Henry Foster of Orlando, Fla., and Bobby and Johnnie Mae Washington and Margaret Griffin, all of Sanford, Fla.; a niece, Arlina Middlebrooks of Barnesville; 20 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999 at Sand Hill CME Church in Lamar County. Revs. Steve McKenzie and Kerry Frances officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Lee F. Jones
Lee F. Jones, 68, of The Rock diedFeb. 10, 1999 at Macon Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Mr. Jones was bornSept. 21, 1930 to the late Sam Martin Jones. He had lived in Pike County 47 years. He was a Korean Conflict Army veteran, serving from 1951 to 1953, and was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Merelyn Allen Jones of The Rock; daughter, Robbin Ray of The Rock; two sons, Marty Jones of The Rock and Tim Jones of Meansville; mother, Dottie Lee Gray Jones; sister, Rebecca Jelski of Meansville; brother, John H. Jones of Thomaston; and seven grandchildren.

Sarah Hudgins McKoy
Sarah Elizabeth Hudgins McKoy, 85, of Barnesville diedSunday, Feb. 14, 1999 at Emory University Hospital.
A Barnesville native and longtime resident, Mrs. McKoy was bornFeb. 5, 1914 in what was then Monroe County to William Earnest and Mildred Elizabeth Colquitt Hudgins. She was the widow of Cecil C. McKoy. She graduated from Barnesville Agricultural and Mechanical School in 1932 and was a member of First United Methodist Church, having joined in 1923. She was a housewife and retired teacher's aide.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Rev. and Mrs. Bill A. McKoy of Stone Mountain; Mr. and Mrs. Denny C. McKoy of Cartersville and Doug and Midgie Starr of Barnesville; seven grandchildren, Anne McKoy Thomson of Athens, Allison McKoy Batchelor of LaGrange, Micah McKoy Smith of Rome, Timothy T. Turner of Barnesville, David W. McKoy of Watkinsville, Kevin G. McKoy of Douglasville, and Matthew T. McKoy of Atlanta; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999 at First United Methodist Church of Barnesville. Revs. Steve Davidson and David Naglee will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First United Methodist Church of Barnesville.

Walter Raymond Royal Sr.
Walter Raymond "W.R" Royal Sr., 78, of Thomaston diedThursday, Feb. 11, 1999 in Upson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jenkins County, Mr. Royal lived most of his life in Upson County. He was retired from B.F. Goodrich with 32 years of service, having worked as an overhauler in the winder room. He was a member of Clarks Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Royal of Thomaston; three sons, Donald Royal of Barnesville, Ronald Royal and Raymond Royal Jr., both of Thomaston; three daughters, June Carpenter of Thomaston, Judy Garvin of Millen and Brenda Thompson of Sylvania; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 12, 1999 at Coggins Funeral Home. Burial was in Southview Cemetery. Rev. Dean Hemphill officiated.
Glennie T. Williams
Glennie T. Williams, 79, of Barnesville, diedWednesday, Feb. 3, 1999.
Mr. Williams was the son of the late Thomas F. and Tinnie I. Williams. He was retired from timber sales and was a member of Good Hope Family Worship Church.
Survivors include his wife, Stella M. Williams; four children, Charles Williams and Joel Williams, both of Forsyth, Cecil Williams and Glenda Beacham, both of Barnesville; four brothers and sisters, Otto Williams, Warren Williams and Dafner Crook of Forsyth and Nita Browning of Fort Valley; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 5, 1999 in Good Hope Family Worship Center in Lamar County. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements.
Mary Parrott Black
Mary Ruby Parrott Black, 63, of Yatesville diedFriday, April 23, 1999 in a Macon hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Brookhaven, Mrs. Black was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Ruby Susan Haynes Parrott. She was a retired computer operator with Southern Bell Company. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Yatesville, and Georgia Quilters Guild and was a western square dance instructor. She was preceded in death by a son, Stuart Billy Black.
Survivors include her husband, John Billy Black of Yatesville; a daughter, Wynette B. Taunton of Yatesville; three brothers Frank Everette Parrott of Fayetteville, Donald Jefferson Parrott of Fairburn and Joseph Stanley Parrott Jr. of Palmetto; two grandsons, Christopher Stuart Black, Stephen Christopher Taunton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday April 25, 1999, at Haisten-Martin Funeral Home. Revs. Jeff Morgan, Jerry Cross and Tommy Parrott officiated. Burial was in Lamar Memory Gardens.
Jerri Lynn Dawson
Jerri Lynn "Pug" Dawson, 26, of Thomaston diedMonday, April 19, 1999 at a Macon hospital.
Ms. Dawson was employed by Georgia Chips Company and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her daughter, Lindsey Brook Dawson of Thomaston; mother and stepfather, Lynda Littlejohn Merchant and Johnny Merchant of Thomaston; grandmother, Myrtice Littlejohn of Milner; friend, Paul Moncrief of Yatesville; several aunts and uncles, Gary Littlejohn, John Robert and Yvonne Littlejohn, Jessie and Joyce Littlejohn, Pete and Rae Littlejohn, Patricia and Jack Wiggins and Lena and James Akins; and a cousin, Heidi King.
Services were held Thursday, April 22, 1999 at Milner Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Yelverton officiated. Burial was in Lamar Memory Gardens.

Donald Joseph Davis
Donald Joseph Davis Sr., 58, of Patterson, formerly of Barnesville, diedThursday, April 22, 1999 in Satilla Regional Medical Center from an apparent heart attack.
A native of Pierce County, Mr. Davis lived in Atlanta a number of years before retiring from Delta Airlines after 27 years of service. Following his retirement he lived in Gatlinburg, Tenn., for five years, remodeling chalets that he purchased. He was in the process of building his retirement home after returning to Patterson. He was a member of Patterson Baptist Church and was project coordinator of the men's ministry and a former farmer and avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Betty Foster Davis of Patterson; parents, Carlos and Earlesteen Hallman Davis of Patterson; a daughter and son-in-law, Deena and Lyn Shockley of Griffin; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and LeAnne Davis of Kennesaw; a twin brother, and sister-in-law, David and Charlotte Davis of Brunswick; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Edward "Ed" Hyers of Patterson; four grandchildren, T.J. Shockley, Savannah Shockley and Ben Shockley, all of Griffin, and Anna Kate Davis of Kennesaw; and several other relatives.
Services were held Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Patterson Baptist Church. Revs. Jerry Price and Ronnie Foster officiated. Burial was in Patterson Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the mission program at the church of the donor's choice.
