Ellis Flynt, 59, of Griffin diedWednesday, April 21, 1999 at his residence after an extended illness.
A Lamar County native, Mr. Flynt was bornFeb. 20, 1940 to the late David Flynt and Sara Cole. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Griffin, where he served on the deacon board for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Flynt of Griffin; a son and daughter-in-law, Dock and Sheila Flynt of Griffin; a daughter, Linda Flynt of Griffin; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Nellie Flynt of Griffin, Lillian and Hubert Mayes of Lamar County and Mary Louise Brown of California; two brothers, Asbury Flynt and Robert Cole, both of Lamar County; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Phyliss Lindsey of Lamar County, John and Bertha Beck and Obediah and Lois Floyd, all of Griffin; two aunts, Rosie Clemons and Nellie Maddox, both of Griffin; several grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a special friend, Emory Tyler.
Services were held Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. E.J. O'Neal officiated.
Andrew Hardaway
Andrew Hardaway of Cleveland, Ohio, diedrecently.
Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jannie and Robert Dixon of Atlanta and Geraldine Underwood of Cleveland, Ohio; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Timothy Hardaway of Cleveland, Ohio, Walter B. and Rose Hardaway of Atlanta, John and Yvonne Hardaway of Barnesville, Charles Hardaway of Los Angeles, Calif., and Rev. Benjamin and Stella Hardaway of Macon; three aunts, Lucille Terrell of Washington, D.C., Frankie M. Hardaway of The Rock and Sallie Simmons of Barnesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held Saturday, April 24, 1999 at West Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Barnesville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Horace Fuller officiated.

Helen Louise Schaffer
Helen Louise Schaffer, 77, of Barnesville diedWednesday, April 14, 1999 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
A native of Polk County, Tenn., Mrs. Schaffer was the daughter of the late Samuel Manley and Mattie Arizona Shearer Stephens and was the widow of Harry M. Schaffer. She lived most of her life in Macon before coming to Barnesville. She was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church in Macon and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Mack Schaffer II.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, George and Roxanne Schaffer of Barnesville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Randy Pass of Hampton and Louise and Gene Turner of Barnesville; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Schaffer of Senoia; a brother and sister-in-law, Sam M. and Jo Evelyn Stephens of Macon; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, April 16, 1999 in Haisten-Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Davidson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Macon.
Kate Daniel Stapleton
Kate Daniel Stapleton, 81, of Athens diedWednesday, April 21, 1999 at her residence.
An Upson County native, Mrs. Stapleton was bornSept. 11, 1917 to the late Tom and Charlotte Hightower Daniel. She had lived in Athens for the past 37 years. She was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church, the Athens Women's Garden Club and was a past member of the St. Mary's Auxiliary. She volunteered at Athens Regional Medical Center as a Pink Lady and was active in community affairs.
Survivors include her husband, William T. Stapleton Sr. of Athens; two daughters, Charlotte Knight of Eatonton and Caroline Cochran of Bethesda, Md.; a son, William T. Stapleton Jr. of Tusla, Okla.; a sister, Caroline Kilburn of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens. Dr. John Appleton officiated.

Lois Pennington Wilbanks
Lois Pennington Wilbanks of Houston, Texas, formerly of Barnesville, diedApril 9, 1999.
A native of Wilkinson County, Mrs. Wilbanks moved to Barnesville at age nine. After her marriage to the late J.D. Wilbanks and the birth of two sons she moved to Houston about 1940. The family, including six other children, has lived there ever since. Mr. Wilbanks diedabout two years ago. Mrs. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her daughter, Deloris Wilbanks, and a son, Gene Wilbanks, who diedin his 20s.
Survivors include seven sons, Randall Wilbanks, Jerry Wilbanks, Barry Wilbanks, Don Wilbanks, Steve Wilbanks, Keith Wilbanks and Jeff Wilbanks, all of Houston; a brother, John Pennington of Barnesville; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all of the Houston area; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held in Howard Glendale Funeral Home in Houston. Rev. Robert Wolratt officiated.
Oscar Crummie Jr.
Oscar Crummie Jr., 66, of Barnesville diedFriday, Oct. 1, 1999 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
A native of Social Circle, Mr. Crummie was bornApril 30, 1933 to the late Oscar Curtis and Eva Eulala Allen Crummie Sr. He moved to Thomaston as a child. During the Korean War he served with the Army in Germany, where he met his wife. They returned to Thomaston and moved to Barnesville in 1969. He was a shift foreman for General Tire, retiring from its Aldora division in March 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Renate Crummie of Barnesville; four sons, Fredrick M. Crummie and Eric F. Crummie, both of Barnesville, George W. Crummie of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Rollo J. Crummie of Powder Springs; a sister, Irma C. Boor of Milton, Fla.; two brothers, Willie Crummie of Thomaston and Eugene Crummie of Marietta; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 4, 1999 at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Rev. Teddy Hardeman officiated. Burial was in South View Cemetery in Thomaston.
Charles Edwin Lambdin Jr.
Charles Edwin Lambdin Jr. of Orange, Texas, diedSaturday, Oct. 2, 1999 of a heart attack.
Mr. Lambdin was the son of the late Charles and Elanor Lambdin and was the brother of the late William Lambdin of Barnesville. He was bornin Atlanta on March 24, 1926. He served in the European theater in World War II, winning the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1949 and worked for B.F. Goodrich in Avon Lake, Ohio, and Texaco Research in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a member of the Lion's Club and was active in the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Mary Anne Lambdin; and his daughter, Jeanne Ellen Lambdin of Austin, Texas.
Tentative graveside services, following the funeral in Texas, are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 at Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville.
Haisten-Martin Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Andrews Milner
Dorothy Ann Andrews Milner, 70, of Barnesville diedSunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
A Monroe County native, Mrs. Milner was the daughter of the late J. Herman and Nannie Wood Andrews. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Milner of Barnesville; two sons, Michael Cauthen and Andy Cauthen, both of Barnesville; a daughter, Nancy Gunn Wadley; a stepdaughter, Marcelle Shellnutt Windham of New Hampshire; two brothers, Joseph H. Andrews Jr. of Lithia, Fla., and David Andrews of Barnesville; four grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999 at 2 p.m. in Barnesville First Baptist Church. Revs. Garth Forster and Norm Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be in Lamar Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund or Disabled Veterans of America.
