Jack J. Burns, 86, of Atlanta diedWednesday, Nov. 17, 1999.
A Barnesville native, Mr. Burns was bornOct. 11, 1913. He was a graduate of Gordon Military College and received an appointment to West Point. He worked 30 years with General Electric as an electrical engineer and was president of the Industrial Engineers Society. He conducted seminars with Georgia Power customers. He had been retired 25 years. He was the widower of Marcelle Hermine Hicks Burns, whom he marriedon June 14, 1939; she diedin 1995 after 57 years of marriage. He was a member of the Atlanta Seniors Golf Association. He was a member of Gate City Lodge 2 F&AM; for more than 50 years, serving as master for the past 25 years and as its director of work. He received the rank and decoration of KCCH in Scottish Rite, for which he was a 33rd degree inspector general honorary. He was a 30th degree 15 years. He was a member of York Rite, Mt. Zion Chapter 6, Ram Jasonburr Council 13, R&SM; and Atlanta Commandery 9. He was involved for a number of years with the child care committee of Scottish Rite Hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Jacqueline B. Scullion of Defiance, Ohio, and Ona B. Smith and Ellen B. Hurst, both of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Lisa Parker Fuelier, Eric Hurst, Jessica Norman, Chris Smith and Elizabeth Hurst; and two great-grandchildren, Julia Parker and Jack Parker.
Services with Masonic rites were held Friday, Nov. 19 in Sunrise Chapel Mausoleum in Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta.

Mary Taylor Boldenow
Mary Lois Taylor Boldenow, 79, of Barnesville diedSaturday, Nov. 20, 1999 at her residence.
A native of Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Jackson and Beatrice DeBardelaben Taylor. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Newman.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest C. Boldenow of Barnesville; a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Kate Newman of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Jerry Buchanan of Forest Park; a brother, Lewis Jacob Taylor of Columbus; two sisters, Linnie Mae Coady of Columbus and Rubye Conway of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jenny Y. Quinn, Jerry W. Buchanan, Benjamin K. Newman and Daniel Newman; and a great-grandchild, Molly Ann Quinn.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Thomaston First Presbyterian Church. Rev. David Delph will officiate. Cryptside services will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, Ala., at 3 p.m.

Gloria Mullins Kitchings
Gloria Mullins Kitchings, 72, of Barnesville diedSunday, Nov. 21, 1999 at Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin.
A native of Taylor County, Mrs. Kitchings was the daughter of the late Charles Jack Mullins and Pauline Pullins Taylor. She was retired from the William Carter Company, where she was a sewing machine operator for 41 years. She was a member of the Women's League, AARP, First Friends, the Ladies Auxiliary and Milner Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Neal Kitchings of Barnesville; and three grandchildren, Tracy Kitchings, Brent Kitchings and Clay Kitchings, all of Barnesville.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Haisten-Martin Funeral Home. Revs. Alan Wakeman and Garth Forster will officiate. Burial will be in Lamar Memory Gardens.
Lewis Jay McNaughton Jr.
Lewis Jay McNaughton Jr., 85, diedSunday, Nov. 21,1999 in Ionia, Mich.
Mr. McNaughton was preceded in death by his son Lewis Jay McNaughton, III, last month. Survivors include his wife, Madelene Currie McNaughton; two daughters, LeAnn McNaughton Schuck of Chester Springs, Penn., and Shanna McNaughton English of Barnesville; and one son, John Scott McNaughton of Independence, Mo.
Burial will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23 in Belding, Mich.
Louise Dennis Smith
Louise Dennis Smith diedTuesday, Nov. 16, 1999 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
A Monroe County native, Mrs. Smith was bornMay 3, 1935 to the late Johnny Ben and Narciss Stroud Dennis and was the widow of Bennie Smith Sr. She was a member of St. Phillip AME Church in Culloden, where she served as usher, treasurer and mother's board member.
Survivors include seven children and their spouses, Samuel and Shirley Ann Smith, Bennie and Louise Smith Jr., Bobby and Rosa Smith, Mary and Darrell Fletcher and Brenda Smith, all of Barnesville, Dianne and David Wright of Milner, Michael and Loretta Smith of Austell; a brother, Grady Dennis of Roberta; aunt, Addie Lee Stroud of Paulsboro, N.J.; seven brothers- and sisters-in-law, Grady Smith, Sanders and David Pennyman, Annie Bell and John L. White, Alfred and Tina Smith and Nettie C. Smith, all of Culloden, Annie Clyde and Bloomer Williams of Macon, Annie Maude and Boddie Buddy and Richard and Lila Mae Smith, all of Atlanta, and Mary Smith of Barnesville; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 19 at St. Phillips AME Church in Culloden. Rev. Kenny Averils officiated. Burial was in King Hill Cemetery.
Jennie Worthy Greene

A Barnesville native, Mrs. Green was bornDec. 27, 1927 to the late Joe and Sallie Worthy and was the widow of Charlie W. Greene, whom she marriedFeb. 28, 1949. She was a longtime member of East Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Barnesville.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Greene-Edmond and Robert Edmond of Burnsville, Minn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Leitha Greene of St. Louis, Mo.; six sisters and a brother-in-law, Inez Watts, Ocie Lee Fletcher and Lucille Holloway, all of Barnesville; Maybell and Willie Thomas Perdue and Charlie Maude Willis of Alexandra, and Jessie Pearl White of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Johnny Roy Russell of Barnesville; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Norman of Barnesville and Allie Mae Russell of Milner; eight grandchildren, Eric, Cheryl, Deshandra, Pamella, April, Auburn and Paris; two great-grandchildren, Myka and Daedra; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held Thursday, Feb. 24 at East Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Lyons officiated. Burial was in O'Neal Cemetery.

Annette Beadie Hammock
Annette Beadie Hammock, 53, of Conley diedWednesday, Feb. 23, 2000 at South Fulton Hospital.
An Upson County native, Miss Hammock was a salesperson with Ethan Allen Furniture.
Survivors include her parents, Lillian Hammock of Thomaston and Gary Hammock of Phoenix, Ariz., and three brothers, Joe Hammock and Neil Hammock of Thomaston and Lloyd Hammock of Barnesville.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 25 at Coggins Funeral Home in Thomaston. Rev. Jimmy Grier officiated. Burial was in Crystal Hill Cemetery in Thomaston.
Cecil R. Haywood
Cecil R. "Red" Haywood, 84, of Barnesville diedThursday, Feb. 24, 2000 at Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth.
Mr. Haywood was a member of Barnesville First Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked for many years for the Department of Transportation.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 27 at Haisten-Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Garth Forster officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Helen Giles Howard
Helen Giles Howard, 93, of Winder, formerly of Barnesville, diedWednesday, Feb. 23, 2000.
A Barrow County native, Mrs. Howard was the daughter of the late Otho and Addiline Bagwell Giles. She a member of First Baptist Church since 1936.
Survivors include her husband, Clay Howard of Winder; son, Jim Howard of Callman, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Jean Howard and Bob Wortman of Winder; a sister, Hazel Lafitte of Savannah; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 26 in Smith Funeral Home in Winder. Rev. John Talley officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
