Hattie Louise Hulin Rouse
Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Louise Hulin Rouse, 90, were held Thursday, September 30, 1999, at Reeves Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. William Evans and Rev. Michael Gresham officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died September 26.
Mrs. Rouse was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Simon and Lucy Brewer. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was the widow of Harvey Hulin and Lace Rouse.
Survivors include five children, Ozella H. Ware, Ardalia J. Hamm, Betty L. Richardson, Harvey Hulin Jr., and Arthur L. Hulin; three stepchildren, Elizabeth Elam, Elijah Blackwell and Bobby Blackwell; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Wiley Cranston Jones
Funeral services for Wiley Cranston Jones, 88, of Greensboro Road, Union Point, were held Thursday, September 30, 1999, at 4 p.m, at the Crawfordville Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Schuff and Rev. Derek M. Smith officiating. Burial was in the Powellton Cemetery at Powellton. He died September 28 at his residence.
Mr. Jones was born in Taliaferro County and was the son of the late Francis Benjamin Jones and the late Emma Stewart Jones. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Robinson Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 45 years. He retired after 31 years of service as a U.S. Postal Service Rural Mail Carrier and was a member of the Rural Postal Carriers Union.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Dorothy L. Ogletree Jones, Union Point; three sons, Wiley Bruce Jones, Greensboro, Franklin Thomas Jones, Thomson, and Harvey Deen Jones, Kennesaw; three daughters, Barbara Merlene Browning, Thomson, Nell Jones Smith, Bowden, and Sandra Meloon, Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Benjamin Francis Jones, Vine Grove, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Stephen Poole
Funeral services for Stephen “Buck” Poole, 87, of Auburndale, Fla., were held Tuesday, September 28, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church in Auburndale. Interment was in Auburndale Memorial Park. He died Saturday, September 25, at Integrated Health Services, Auburndale.
Mr. Poole was a native of Tignall and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin W. Poole who are buried in the Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery at Tignall. He retired after 53 years as a Ford automobile salesman. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific for four years. He helped to organize the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Auburndale and was its first commander. He was a member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a 63 year member of the Auburndale Masonic Lodge 135 A&FM, Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa, the Auburndale Rotary Club, and the First United Methodist Church of Auburndale.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Denard Poole of Auburndale, formerly of Tignall; a son, Steve Poole of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter, Laney Vick of Auburndale; two grandchildren; and a niece, Shirley LeRoy Gunter of Washington.
P. Milford Myers
Funeral services for P. Milford Myers, 74, of Prater Road, Lincolnton, were held Thursday, September 30, 1999, at 4 p.m., at Goshen Baptist Church, Lincolnton, with Bishop Cullen Hicks, Rev. Robert D. Adams and Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Myers was a native and lifelong resident of Lincoln County. He was the son of the late Patrick Mel Myers, and the late Sara Katherine McMahan Myers. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and had retired as a supervisor for Georgia Pacific, McCormick, S.C. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church where he had served as chairman of the deacons and he owned and operated Mary and Milford’s Vineyard in Lincolnton.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Norman Myers of Lincolnton; a son, Ronnie Myers, Abbeville, S.C.; three daughters, Marianne M. Adams, Lincolnton, Norma M. Turner, Lincolnton, and Myra M. Thornton, Sparta; two brothers, Ollie G. Myers, Lincolnton, and James W. Myers, Conyers; two sisters, Sallie M. McFerrin, Lincolnton, and Rachel M. Morrison, Jonesboro; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Damon Edwards, Chris Myers, David Myers, Jonathan Myers, Patrick Vandiver, and Sidney Vandiver.
Deacons of Goshen Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.

Lyman Howard
Funeral services for Lyman “Buddy” Howard, 83, of Lithonia were held September 29, 1999, at Kelley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lithonia. He died September 27 at Peachtree Hospice.
Mr. Howard was a DeKalb County teacher, administrator and coach for 34 years until his retirement and also served two terms on the DeKalb County School Board. He held a bachelor’s degree in education and physical education from Berry College and pursued his master’s in education and administration at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He was a native of McDuffie County and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia House Howard who was born in Wilkes County and attended Danburg and Tignall high schools; a son, Joseph Lee Howard of Watkinsville; a sister, Mary Howard of Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
Lena Cosby Wall
Graveside services for Mrs. Lena Cosby Wall, 89, of Orchard Street, Washington, were held Friday, September 24, 1999, at 11 a.m., at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Albert W. Huyck Jr. officiating. She died September 22 at her home.
Mrs. Wall was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Jim and Sally Williamson Cosby. She was the widow of Hogan Wall and had lived most of her life in Wilkes County. She was a homemaker and a member of Phillips Mill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Hogan Wall Jr. of Washington; and four grandchildren.

Annie Theo Cofer Sims

Mrs. Sims was a native of Wilkes County and was a daughter of the late Henry and Mamie Cofer and was the widow of Eddie Sims. She was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Simmie L. Walker, Kansas City, Mo., Albertha Brown, Richmond, CA, and Doris Winston, San Pablo, CA; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Willie Dee Wilkerson

Mr. Wilkerson was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Romalice and Corrie Wilkerson of Washington. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Wilkes County.
Survivors include a daughter, Gayle Zellars, Atlanta; a sister, Carrie Stewart, Crawfordville; three brothers, Ira T. Wilkerson, Richmond, Va., Warren Wilkerson, Atlanta, and Edker Lee Wilkerson, Middletown, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Thomas Watson Armour
Graveside services for Thomas Watson Armour, 89, of Greensboro Rd., Washington, were held Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery, Rayle, with Rev. Thompson Holliman and Rev. Danny Holdredge officiating. He died May 25 in Wills Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Watson was a native and lifelong resident of Wilkes County. He was the son of the late James Thomas Armour and the late Sarah Echols Armour and was a member of Carters Grove Baptist Church. His wife was the late Cynthia Franklin Armour. He had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was a retired security guard.
Survivors include three sons, Watson Armour, Washington, Charles E. Armour, Danielsville, and Fred H. Armour, Elberton; three daughters, Winnie A. Thompson and Nancy A. Moon, Washington, and Janice A. Browning, Winterville; a sister, Lora Lee Harrison, Eatonton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Bennie Willis

Mr. Willis was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Bud Lee and Mary Frances Willis. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary O. Willis, Rayle; a son, Edward E. Willis, Rayle; two daughters, Geraldine Willis Dill, Washington, and Brenda Willis, Rayle; three grandchildren, Leroy Johnson, Ft. Eustis, Va., Marcus Dill, Athens, and Syneta Dill, Washington.

Juanita Eulalia Barnes
Funeral services for Juanita Eulalia Barnes, 61, were held Monday, May 29, 2000, at Springfield Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Lamar Davenport officiating. She died May 24.
She was the daughter of the late Richard Edward and Willie Mae Crew Barnes.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Barnes, Eulalia Williams, Estralita Barnes and Deborah Barnes, all of Washington; two sons, Marshall Barnes, Washington, and Kelvin Barnes; a brother Richard Barnes Jr.; stepmother, Mrs. Ruby Barnes of Macon; grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Crew; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Hattie Callaway; and a foster son, Carey Davis.

Stanley Chaney
Funeral services for Stanley Chaney, 45, of Crook Road, Lincolnton, were held Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Loco Baptist Church in Lincoln County with Rev. George Hollis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Friday, May 26, at Emory Healthcare, Decatur.
Mr. Chaney was born in Ocilla, and had lived in Lincoln County for 25 years. He was employed by Bobby E. Rachels Masonry and was a brick mason. He was a member of the Loco Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Tammie B. Chaney of Lincolnton; his mother, Mrs. Helen Ansley, Thomson; two sons, Stanley Chaney and Edmond Brown, both of Lincolnton; four daughters, Suzanne Moon, Melissa Chaney, Kimberly Chaney, and Lacey Brown, all of Lincolnton; two brothers, Steve Chaney, Augusta, and Jeff Chaney, Lincolnton; one sister, Pam Brown, Thomson; and three grandchildren.

Lavinia Partee
Graveside services for Lavinia Partee, 80, of Brookhaven were held Friday, May 26, 2000, in the Decatur Cemetery. She died Monday, May 22.
Miss Partee was born in Washington-Wilkes in 1920 and grew up in Decatur. She was the daughter of the late Woodie Augustus Partee and the late Edna Lavinia Chafin Partee. She was a longtime employee of the SunTrust Bank, having retired as an assistant vice-president. She was widely known for her love and enthusiasm for horses. Over the years her Morgan horses won many ribbons as well as national and world championships.
Survivors include a brother, James E. Partee; two sisters, Mary Partee Funkhouser, Harrison, Va., and E. Anne Partee.
She was a neighbor in Brookhaven of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Oslin, formerly of Washington.
