Ed Farmer Ed Farmer, 67, husband of Dean Farmer, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Clarke County, Ed had lived in Oconee County most of his life. He was the son of the late James Edward and Frances Hardy Farmer. He was the owner of Farmer Grading Inc and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. He served his country in the US Coast Guard. In addition to his wife, survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: Glenn and Lynn Farmer of Bogart; daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Todd Green of Bogart; sister: Mary Hardigree of Bogart; brother: Bobby Farmer of Bogart; grandchildren: Brandy Hamlin, Eli Crawford, Victoria Farmer, Lindsey Farmer and Drew Farmer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home, Monroe. Mr. Charles Taylor & Mr. Gary Hudson officiated. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Christian Church Cemetery, Monroe. Mrs. Lowe was a member of Church of Christ and preceded in death by her husband: William Bedford Lowe; son: David Wayne Lowe. She is survived by daughters: Diane Henry of Springfield TN., Virginia Taylor of Charlotte, NC; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Arthur Bowick, Inc. Funeral Directors, 823 E. Felton “Red” Smith Felton “Red” Smith age 80 of Monroe, died on April 25, 2008. He was born in Morgan County on Sept.14, 1927 to the late Jim Daniel Smith and the late Clemmie Deaton Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Patsy Thurman Smith. Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law: Rebecca and Terry Cover of Conyers; sons and daughters- in-law: David and Linda Smith of Loganville, and Philip and Cindy Smith of Loganville; four Grandchildren, and two Great Grandchildren.

Clara Brooks Bolton, 86, of Monroe died on April 17, 2008 She was born Clara Belle Dunahoo to John and Beulah Watson Dunahoo on Aug. 22, 1921, she is the last of the eight siblings to go to be with Jesus. She married her first love, Harold "Pete" Brooks in Spring on April 27, 1941. She and Pete had four children, Bob, Jayne, Carol and David Brooks.

He was born March 17, 1920 in Ber- rien County to the late Joel Washington Carter and the late Lillie Fender Carter Britt. He lived all of his life in Cook County, was a WW II Army Vet- eran, retired minister and farmer, and was a member of Beulah Holi- ness Baptist Church. He was the oldest ordained minister in the Holiness Baptist organization.

James M. Luellen, age 78 of Monroe, died on June 7, 2008. He was born in Champaign County, Ohio to the late Franklin Macy Luellen and the late Leathe Ropp Luellen. He was preceded in death by his sister, the late May Hecker. A 2007 graduate of Loganville High School and attending Gordon College in Barnesville, GA, Eric was a member of Victory Baptist Church, an exemplary Christian and role model for young people and adults as well. He was also an accomplished wrestler. Robert “Geta” Burt, of Oxford, died peacefully at his home June 11, 2008 at the age of 47. Mr. Burt was a graduate of Monroe Area High School and enjoyed playing golf and softball, vegetable and flower gardening, camping, cooking and going to the mountains. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was a very dedicated worker. Mr. Burt is preceded in death by his daughter, Cassie Jo Burt. Survivors include: his wife: Christy Burt of Oxford; sons: “B.J.” Burt of Monroe, “Brock” Burt and David Burt, both of Oxford; granddaughter: Bailey Cook of Douglasville; parents: Gilbert and Ruth Burt, Monroe; sisters and brothers-in-law: Elwin and Danny Smith of Loganville, Linda and Alan McGinnis of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law: Arthur and Julie Bart of Monroe; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Mr. Burt was held Saturday, June 14 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Pastor Jon Ford and the Rev. Ronnie Capes officiating.

She was preceded in death by her son, the late Charles Snow. Jackson of Monroe; granddaughter: Lili Snow Yin of Monroe. Funeral Services were held on Sunday June 8 at 3p.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Malcom, Pastor Daniel Ramey, and Pastor Harris Blackwood officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery.

Everett Douglas Briscoe Jr
Everett Douglas Briscoe Jr., age 55, died on June 5, 2008 in Dartmouth England. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Everett Briscoe, his grandparents, the late Lucious and Della Briscoe and Roscoe and Mittie Meadows. Mr. Briscoe was born and raised in Jackson, Georgia. He was a graduate of Jackson High School. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he visited the Virgin Islands, and found a love of sailing. He purchased a boat and began a career of boat charters. This is where he met his wife, Allison Grant of Dartmouth England. She worked for Douglas as his cook, and on board nurse. They fell in love and returned to her hometown to marry. After starting a family, Douglas opened “The Canvas Factory”, selling canvas sails, bags, and boat covers all over the world. His love of the ocean never left. He purchased a new sail boat, and sailed around the world. He was an avid sailor, but most of all a very devoted father to his three girls and loved them with all his heart.

Cora Lee Kirk Allen, 86 of Mountain City, Georgia, formerly of Campton, passed away at Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Clayton, Georgia on Sunday, May 25, 2008. She was born in Walton County and was the daughter of the late Willie Paul Kirk and Viola Childers Kirk. She is survived by her husband: John Thomas Allen of Mountain City; daughter: Brenda Cathey and husband Frank of Mountain City. She also is survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Arbitter and her husband Stephen of Clayton, and Stephanie Shuman and husband Leiston of Savannah, and great grandchildren: Mark, Allen and Wyatt Arbitter and Sarah Kate Shuman. Surviving siblings include: Macy Smith and her husband Franklin, Jessie Mae Davis and her husband Ruben, and Mrs. Jean Bates of Walton County.

Mrs. Dayle T. Weinkauf, age 82, died Monday June 2, 2008 in Lakeland from heart failure. Born May 9, 1926 in Bartow, Dayle was the daughter of the late Roy H. and Lila (Campbell) Taylor. Mrs. Weinkauf was a lifelong resident of Bartow. She was a graduate of Summerlin Institute in Bartow and attended Florida State College for Women where she was an Alpha Delta Pi pledge. Mrs. Weinkauf was very active in her community. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild for the last 48 years and was also a member of the Daughters of the King. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She along with her husband "Doc" owned and operated the City Jewelry Store, that was formerly owned by her father Roy Taylor for many years. Mrs. Weinkauf was also an active member of the Bartow Airbase Historical Museum, actually assisting in the set up and acquiring memorabilia for the museu

Tommy J. Terrell, 56, husband of the late Sarah Mae Harvey Terrell, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Heritage Health Care of Athens. Born in Tifton, GA, he was the son of Rachel E. Martin Terrell and the late Henry Ford Terrell. He was of he catholic faith and served his country in the US Marines during the Vietnam. In addition to his mother, survivors include: his daughter: Sarah Lynn Tranum; step daughter: Cherie Lackey, sisters: Jackie Love, Shirley Terrell, Jennie Knight, Sandra Conley, Brenda Perry; brother: Billy Terrell; grandchildren: Rhiannon Medley, Scarlet Clark, Sammy Lackey, Halee Lackey, Makala Ramey, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 2pm at Ross Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
