PRESTON HARRIS OLIVIT

We regret to announce the passing of Preston Harris Olivit of Donalsonville who passed away Friday, April 25, 2003 at Marianna Convalescent Center in Marianna, FL.

Graveside service was held Monday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville with the Rev. James Hilburn officiating with US Air Force Honor Guard.

Mr. Olivit was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on March 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Helen Harris Olivit. He served in the Korean War as a Corporal in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired Law Enforcer at NASA Space Center in Florida.

He is survived by one son Drew Olivit of Donalsonville and many close friends. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

COLEMAN GREEN

Mr. Coleman Green, age 89, died April 17, 2003 at Miller County nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beulah Africian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Gloria Wynn and Rev. L.E. Moore officiating. Interment was held a the New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mr. Green's nephews.

Mr. Green was born in Miller County and he attended school at St. Mary School, but having to work, he was not able to finish. He was raised in a Christian home by loving parents who taught him to love God, Home and country. He was a gardener who loved to plant and see things to grow. He loved the Lord, feared his works, and kept his teachings. He was married to Ms. Sadie Solomon. No children were born. He later married Ms. Eddie Mae Calloway. He became a member of Beulah A.M.E. Church under the auspises of Rev. Archieball.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Alice Byrant, Colquitt; Mrs. Peggy Lincoln, Tampa. FL; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He is preceded by three brothers, L.D., Connie and Luke.

Williams Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

LIZZIE LOVERING

Mrs. Lizzie Lovering, age 99, of Colquitt died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at the Miller County Hospital.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Johns and the Rev. Peter Dobie officiating. Interment was held a the Harmony Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Lovering, Adrian Lovering, David Lovering, ronnie Lovering, Kevin Lovering, Micheal Lovering, Les Lovering and Roy Burch.
Mrs. Lovering was a homemaker and a memeber of the South Mt. Zion Church of God.

Suriviors include five sons, Willis Lovering, James W. "Bubba" Lovering, Horace Lovering, Ray Lovering ad Glen Lovering all of Colquitt; one brother, Ed Earl McCalvin, Tifton, one sister, Ruth Roland, Griffin; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

BILLY WILLIAMS

Mr. Billy Williams, age 71, of Colquitt died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Williams was born October 2, 1931, in Miller County. He was a farmer.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kent Barwick officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Marlow, Orlando, FL; two sons, Tommy Williams, Bayminette, AL, Billy Williams, Orlando, FL; two sisters, Dolores Monk, Windermere, FL, Brenda Dickson, Astor, FL; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one aunt, Ruth Brunson, Colquitt.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

JOHN SPOONER BROOME

We regret to announce the passing of John Spooner Broome, age 50, of Donalsonville who passed away Sunday, May 5, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery with the Rev. Luther Hastey officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Ame Broome Elliott, Vale, NC; one son, Richard Aaron Broome, Donalsonville; mother, Beryl Spooner Broome, Donalsonville; two brothers, Hugh D. Broome Jr., Brantley Broome, Donalsonville; two sisters, Karen B. Sheffield, Donalsonville, Anne B. Trawick, Columbus; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LUCILLE CARR

Mrs. Lucille Carr, age 90, of Colquitt died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Miller County Hospital.
Mrs. Carr was born March 10, 1916, to Mr. Lonnie and Mrs. Curlie Davis.
Mrs. Carr was a resident of Miller Nursing Home and was a member of Bethel MB Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, at Bethel MB Church with the Rev. Edward Williams officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Colquitt.
Pallbearers were Lewis Williams, Stanley Carr, Derrick Carr, Andre Grant, Bruce Williams, and Lawrence Carr.
Survivors include six daughters, Curly Mae Wright, Ossie Mae Grant, Carrie Miller, Virginia Carr, Louise Burke, Jewel Gammage; two sons, Cecil Grants Jr. and Eugene Carr; seven brothers and sisters, Lorene Morgan, Jessie Lee Grant, Annie Lora Buie, all of Colquitt; 14 grandsons; 13 granddaughters; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ward Funeral Home in Dawson was in charge of arrangements.

ANDY JOEL WILLIAMS

Andy Joel Williams, age 46, of Colquitt passed away April 30, 2003, at the VA Hospital in Lake City, FL.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at the Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Colquitt with the Rev. John Lewis and Rev. Wayne Sheffield officiating. Interment followed at the New Home Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Curt Williams, Bert Williams, Keith Lane, Nicky Cox, Steven Gause, and Teddy Smith.
Mr. Williams was born in Seminole County on February 14, 1957, to Jeanette Williams and the late Curtis Williams. Mr. Williams was a supervisor at Amoco Fabrics in Bainbridge. He was a member of the Gerald Grow Post #165 American Legion and a member of the New Home Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. Williams leaves behind a son, Andy Joel Williams Jr. of Blakely; his mother, Jeanette Williams, of Colquitt; one brother, Aaron Williams, of Colquitt; and two nephews, Curtis M. Williams and Bert A. Williams, both of Colquitt.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Leonard Ivester

Mr. Leonard Ivester, age 74, of Albany died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Ivester was born July 10, 1928, in Tifton. He was retired as an industrial maintenance technician and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Bainbridge.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church with the Revs. Austin Phillips, Andy Bryan, Mike Lawson and Leon VanLandingham officiating. Interment followed in Oak City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gene Coburn, Tom Hicks, Bob Coburn, Jones Bolton, Bill Hughes and Bobby Parrish.
Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Robinson, Bobby Evans, Don Kell, Larry Rice, Winston Brock, Tommy Wheeler, Marvin Hall, and James Matthews.
Survivors include his wife, Vonnie Dollar Ivester; and one daughter, Jill Smithers, Atlanta.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

China Ann Barrett

Mrs. China Ann Barrett of Decatur died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Atkins and the Rev. Jack Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Garden.
Survivors include her husband, William V. (Honey) Barrett Jr.; son, William V. III and wife, Wendy Barett, Duluth; daughter, Denise B. and husband Michael Johnston, Snellville; two sisters, Gloria Nell Roberts, Douglasville, Patsy Close, Hampton; aunt, Iris Pearl Sheffield, Blakely; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Barrett was the daughter of the late Jim Bush and Jewel Bush Calhoun of Colquitt.
A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

BRADY M. HAIRE JR.

Mr. Brady M. Haire, Jr., age 70 of Bainbridge died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Haire was born October 16, 1932 in Fulton County. He was the owner of Brady Hardware Store when he retired and worked part time at Harvey's Grocery Store. He attended Boykin Church of God.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Virgil Perkins officiating. Intermenet followed in Oak City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arky Long, Josh Long, Robert Groach, Lawrence Culverson, Raymond Haire, and Ross Cook.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Edith Haire, Bainbridge; one son, Brady M. Haire, III; one daughter, Gail Long, Bainbridge; one grandchild, Josh Long; one brother, Billy Haire, ALbany; three sisters, Charlotte Williamson, Bainbridge, Barbara Johnson, Reynoldsville, and Joan Long, Sun City West, AZ.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LEON COLLIER MCLENDON

We regret to announce the passing of Leon Collier McLendon, age 84, of Colquitt, who passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in Miller County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 16, 2003, at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville.
Mr. McLendon was born September 23, 1918 in Miller County, Georgia to the late Tom McLendon and Kate McCorkle McLendon. He was a self-employed, retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Moncile Williams McLendon, Colquitt; Two daughters: Gloria Hardage and her husband, Charles of Cataula, GA and Bobbie Tew and her husband Kenneth, of Donalsonville; one brother, Vester McLendon, of Donalsonville; one sister, Jessie Mae Broxton and her husband, Winson, of Donalsonville; four grandchildren, Chuck Hardage, Todd Hardage, Scott Kirkland, Shanna Enfinger; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marie Hatcher.
Pallbearers were: Veachel Williams, James Fudge, Marlin Gibson, Doug Smith, Ronnie Shiver, Michael McDuffie, and J.D. Gordon.
Honorary pallbearers were the men of South Mt. Zion Church.
Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 432 E Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA
