WOODROW WILSON "WOODY" PITTS
We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Pitts, age 78, of Donalsonville, who passed away Saturday May 31, 2003.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, 2003 at 4:00p.m. at the Nazarene Church with the Rev. Steve Hood officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Bascom, FL.
Mr. Pitts was born April 30, 1925 in Geneva Co., AL to the late Grady and Lizzie Baker Pitts. He attended Geneva Co. schools. He was married to Mittie Lee Phillips on Jan 29, 1949. They have lived in Seminole County for the past 47 years. Mr. Pitts was a veteran of the United States Navy and attended the Nazarene Church. He had worked as a welder for Youmans Machine Shop and in maintenance at Beall Peanut Company.
He leave to cherish his memory a loving wife of 54 years, Mittie Lee Phillips Pitts of Donalsonville; 2 sons: Dural Pitts and Gina of Donalsonville and Scotty Pitts and Donna of Iron City; and 1 brother: William Joseph (Bill) Pitts of Ft. Myers, FL. Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by a sister, Lorine Pritchett.
Pallbearers were: Charles Adams, Michael Adams, Ronnie Adams, Steve Adams, Ricky Phillips, and Randy Phillips.

JOHNNY FOREST MIDDLETON
Mr. Johnny Forest Middleton, age 65, of Blakely, passed away Thursday May 29, 2003 at his residence in Blakely.
Funeral services were held Saturday May 31, 2003 at 3:00p.m. at the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Elder W.H. Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Blakely Cemetery.
Mr. Middleton was born March 5, 1938 in Miller County to the late Forest and Eula Bundy Middleton. He lived most of his life in Early County. He was retired from Middleton Memorial and was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Rachel Alexander Middleton, of Blakely; a daughter, Terrie Smith, of Blakely; 3 sons, James Middleton, of Blakely, John Middleton, of Donalsonville, and Gene Middleton, of Blakely.
Pallbearers were: Wayne Middleton, Will Middleton, Larry Middleton, William Bundy, Hamilton Hilburn, and Bernard Peavy.

GERALD "PETE" WARREN
Gerald "Pete" Warren, 64, of Colquitt, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at his home on the Old Albany Road.
Pete was born September 10, 1938, in Miller County to the late Curtis and Louise Warren. He was retired from Keenan's Auto Parts and farming. He was a bus driver for Miller County School system. He was a vital part of Kiddie Kollege school. He was a member of the Colquitt Freewill Baptist Church.
Pete is survived by his wife of 44 years, Virginia Warren; one son and daughter-in law, Philip and Selena Warren; one daughter, Renee' Rouse of Austin, Texas; Five grandchildren, Benjamin, Hunter and David Rouse of Austin, Texas, Kaitlin and Jake Warren of Colquitt and one brother, Harry Warren of Colquitt.
Visitation will be Monday, June 9, at Colquitt Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at Colquitt Freewill Baptist Church.Interment will follow at the Colquitt City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Steve Holt, Charles Jordan, Wallace Reagan, Clyde Jinks Jr., David Ferguson and Robert Tully. Honorary pallbearers were Miller County school bus drivers.
LORETTA H. ROBERTS
Loretta H. Roberts, age 78, of Colquitt died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. Roberts was born July 27, 1924, in Collinsville, IL. She was a retired cosmetologist and a member of County Line Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 at Pine Cliff Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Widdon officiating. Interment followed in Oakview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randall High, Kevin Coker, Joe Shiver, Bryce Swanson, Greg Green, Chris Williams, David Tuggle, Andy Palmer, and Larry Shiver.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Rentz, Colquitt, Lynda Williams, Camilla; one son, Lyn Roberts, Newton; one sister, Shirley McCuller, Camilla; one brother, Jack Shiver, Billings, MT; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sabrena Tedder, age 26, of Marianna, FL, formerly of Donalsonville, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at her residence.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 30 at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Hubert Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her mother, Tammy Terrell, Ft. Gaines; step-father, Jeff Harris, Ft. Gaines; father, Royce Harden, Vidalia; maternal grandfather, H.D. Evans, Crockett, TXX; maternal great-grandmother, Macy Gagnum, Crockett, TX; her paternal grandmother, June Shapiro, Vidalia; one son, Sean Tedder; two daughters, Brittany and Kimberly Tedder, Donalsonville; two step-children, Jake and Maggie Powell, Marianna, FL; two brothers, Wayne Harden and Joey Harden, Donalsonville; one sister, Deanna Harden, Donalsonville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. ANNIE LAURA KIMBREL LOWERY
Annie Laura Kimbrel Lowery, 75, of Bainbridge, died Friday, June 27, 2003 in Bainbridge.
Ms. Lowery was born on September 15, 1927 in Miller County, the daughter of Samuel R. 'Babe' Kimbrel and Julia Sheffield Kimbrel. She graduated from Miller County High School and was a licensed practical nurse. She worked many years for Dr. Hinton Merritt, Dr. Charles Walker, Miller County Hospital, Donalsonville Hospital, and Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Joe Lowery.
A rosary service was held Sunday, June 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed at Colquitt Cemetery. Father Joel Bladt officiated. Pallbearers were Larry Lennard, Hoyt Donley, Brian Donley, Jacky Grubbs, Robert Wilkin, and Jesse Carmichael.
Survivors include two sons, Harvey Joe Lowery Jr. of Bainbridge and Phillip D. Lowery of Honduras, a daughter, Julia L. Bonneau of Bainbridge, a sister, Betty Robinson of Eufaula, AL, and three grandchildren.

HARDY GRADY SAMMONS
Hardy Grady Sammons, 78, of Camilla, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, AL.
Mr. Sammons was born on December 24, 1924 in Miller County. He graduated from Damascus High School and attended Norman Park College. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, participating in many battles including Omaha Beach, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Jean Allen on November 25, 2954. He retired as a Flight Service Specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration, was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and V.F.W. Post 4904.
Visitation was held Monday, June 30, 2003 at Ivey Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Vada. Rev. Conrad Salter officiated. Pallbearers were Troup Burney, Donald Simmons, Dale Medley, Kyle Medley, Keith Medley, Jimmy Boyett, Tony Caldwell, and Charles Owens.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Allen of Camilla, daughters, Kathy Rentz of Bainbridge, Karen Medley of Attapulgus, and Karen Caldwell of Columbus, and four grandchildren.

PAULINE HARRELL
Mrs. Pauline Harrell, age 73, of Colquitt died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in Stella, MS.
Mrs. Harrell was born November 13, 1929, in Carnegie. She was a homemaker and a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Worsley offficiating. Interment will follow at Tabb Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Cecil Harrell and daughter-in-law, Debra, Colquitt; one daughter, Sheila Swaffar and son-in-law, Tom, Stella, MS; two sisters, Jo Faircloth, Columbia, SC, Nell Correll, Blakely; three grandchildren, Gaylon Harrell, Matthew Harrell, Colter Harrell; two great-grandchildren, Hillary Harrell and Logan Harrrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Harrell and one son, Phillip Harrell.

J.W. JONES
Mr. J.W. Jones, age 78, of Bainbridge died July 15, 2003, in Bainbridge.
Mr. Jones was born January 4, 1925 in Montezuma to Willice Jones and Addie Mae Gleen Jones, both deceased, and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, in Bainbridge. He worked as a Welder-Boilermaker and was a member of the National Boilermaker Transit Union.
Mr. Jones established his residence in Bainbridge 30 years ago. He was a citizen of Zephyrhills, FL, then moved to Perry, FL for fifteen years and then to Bainbridge.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, in Bainbridge, with the Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2003 at Cox Funeral Chapel, 202 West St., Bainbridge, from 6-8pm.
Pallbearers are Robert Gilstrap, Jason Duvall, Adam Tubbs, Rev. James Scarborough, James Baggett, Robert E. Gilstrap. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Grubbs, Brantley Harrell, Harold Adams, Deron Conner, Jr.

Mrs. Nina Bell King Widner, age 86, of Colquitt died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Miller County Hospital.
Mrs. Widner was born May 2, 1917 in Early County. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Sheffield Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Interment followed in Roberts Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Mock, Tony Mock, Stephen Weeks, Wayne Weeks, Tommy McVey, Johnny Vaughn, and Jospeh Moore.
Survivors include two sons, Freddie Widner, Warwick, William "Bill" Widner, Wise, VA; three daughters, Lois Fabin, Lake City, FL, Dorothy Edmunds, Albany, Eloise Parkins, Colquitt; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Theodore Arnold Gibson, age 75, of Colquitt died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Miller Nursing Home.
Mr. Gibson was born October 21, 1927 in Miller County. He was a retired mail carrier and farmer and was a member of Mothers Home Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Mothers Home Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Whitaker and the Rev. Walter Daniels officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Lane Gibson, Colquitt; two sons, Ted Gibson, Albany, Kenneth Gibson, Colquitt; one daughter, Catherine G. Regretfully we announce the passing of Margaret P. Alday, 88, of Bainbridge who left this world on July 23, 2003 at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge. Graveside services will be held at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Grubbs will officiate.
Ms. Alday was born in Walton County, FL to the late Jesse Jefferson Powell and Martha Volesia Ludlam Powell. She resided in Bainbridge most all her life and worked 9 years at the Decatur County Health Dept. Ms. Alday had retired from her career as a Registered Nurse. She was married to the late Ralph Jackson Alday and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bainbridge.

Mr. Pyle, a retired farmer and bus driver, was born August 28, 1926 in Early County to Jim Sanders Pyle and Sophia Letha Davis Pyle, both deceased. He was a lifelong resident of Early County and a member of Cedar Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. Pyle leaves behind a loving wife, Jeanette Houston Pyle of Blakely; 1 daughter, Sammie Clenney of Colquitt; 2 sons, Davis S. and Jimmy R. Pyle, both of Blakely; 3 sisters, Myrtice Ivey of Blairsville, Verne Houston of Blakely, and Eleanor Sheffield of Blakely.
