LENORAH WILMA ALLEN
Lenorah Wilma Allen, age 87, residing in Bainbridge passed away July 31, 2003, at the Memorial Manor in Bainbridge.
Mrs. Allen was born April 25, 1916, in Decatur County to the late James Eligah Scott and Lenorah Elizabeth Lewis. She has lived in Decatur all her life, working as a housewife.
Surviving family are her husband, Buford Allen of Bainbridge; two sons, Carlton Allen of Tallahassee FL, Wayne Allen of Bainbridge; 1 daughter, Linda Cawvey of Reidsville; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 3, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Faith Church in Bainbridge. The place of internment is the Brinson Cemetery in Brinson. The officiating ministers were Brother Ron Kirkland and Rev. Gerald Horn.
Active Pallbearers were Marlin Whitaker, Aaron Allen, Mark Allen, Chris Kelley, Brad Kelley, Stuart Kelly and Eddie Spooner.
Visitation was Saturday, August 2, 2003 from 5-7 PM at Cox Funeral Home.

JIMMY JETER
Jimmy Jeter, age 78, of Bainbridge died July 29, 2003 at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge.
Mr. Jeter was born January 22, 1915 in Decatur County and was the son of William Henry and Anna Lou Scott Jeter, both deceased.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Faceville Baptist Church. Internment followed at Greenshade Cemetery in Decatur County. The officiating minister was the Rev. Ken Gainous.
Mr. Jeter was a deacon of Faceville Baptist Church, a Mason and had lived in Miami, FL, for 30 years before moving back to Bainbridge in 1964. He retired from Florida East Coast Railroad and also worked as a Golf Pro for 25 years at the Decatur County Industrial Park Golf Course.
Active pallbearers were Stanely Olivent, Mark Barber, Michael Duke, Edward Thompson, Trent Arthur and Howard Aurthur. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Faceville Baptist Church.
Mr. Jones leaves behind a loving wife, Fannie Munger Duke Jeter, of Bainbridge; a son, James M. (Jim) Jeter, Bainbridge GA; a daughter, Peggy Ann Woodward, North Augusta, SC; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, Parham (Hank) B. Jeter, Bainbridge.

We regret to announce the passing of Ellen Hall Smith, age 70, of Donalsonville who passed away August 11, 2003 at the Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital, in Albany. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 13, 2003 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Corinth Cemetery in Iron City with Rev. Tim Bice officiating.
Mrs. Hall was born in Houston County, AL on April 28, 1933 to the late Benjamin Franklin and Ruth Bodiford Hall.
She is survived by one son, Howard B. "Butch" Cross and his wife Pam of Albany; one daughter, Shirley Cross Lightfoot of Broxton; two brothers, Robert Hall of Bainbridge and Alfred Hall of Rebecca; five sisters, Christine Hall of Donalsonville, Helen Epps of Rebecca; Hazel Hatcher and Ernestine Goldinger both of Albany; Evelyn Daffron of Ringgold.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mell Hatcher and a brother, J.D. Hall. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
COLLIE HAYS JONES
Collie Hays Jones, 80, of Colquitt, died Sunday, August 10, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Jones was born on September 22, 1922. He was a self-employed owner and operator of Jones Nursery and Greenhouse in Colquitt for 25 years. He was a member of the Colquitt United Methodist Church. Mr. Jones was also a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 11, 2003 from 7-9:00 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at Colquitt United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at the Colquitt City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Adkinson, Durrell Jones, Jimmy Williams, Jerry Chapman, Robert Burney, and Eldon G. Cobb.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn C. Jones of Colquitt, one daughter, Mary Gwen Hill, and son-in-law, Ron and two grandsons, Justin and Jordan Hill all of Watkinsville, four brothers, Smiley Jones, Clifton Jones, Marlin Jones all of Colquitt and P.D. Jones of Huntington, WV, three sisters, Glenda Underwood of Carrollton, TX, Dorothy Pierce of Springfield, IL, and Margaret Mai of Durango, CO.

LORENA S. BROCK
Lorena S. Brock, age 98, of Bainbridge, passed away August 8, 2003, at the Memorial Manor in Bainbridge.
Graveside services were held Sunday, August 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the West Bainbridge Cemetery with Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment followed at the West Bainbridge Cemetery. Visitation was August 9, 2003 from 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Brock was born in Coffee County in Alabama, but moved to Decatur Co. in 1938. She is the daughter of the late Milledge Jerome Smith and Willie Daisy Smith. She was the wife of the late Abe Brock.
Mrs. Brock was a member of the West Bainbridge United Methodist Church in Bainbridge and was a housewife and avid fisherman.
Mrs. Brock leaves behind 1 daughter; Helen Grace Huckeba of Eustic, FL; 1 brother; WillieYoung Smith of Ellaville; 3 sisters; Katie Smith of Bainbridge, Nadovah Ramsay of Bainbridge and Iris Fiveash of Orange, VA; 8 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

CONNIE CARL HODGES
Mr. Connie Carl Hodges, age 69 of Donalsonville died Sunday, August 17, 2003, at the VA Hospital in Tuskegee, AL.
Mr. Hodges was born in Houston County, AL, on August 27, 1933 to the late Thomas Jefferson and Blanche Granger Hodges. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired farm equipment salesman.
Military services were held Thursday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Interment followed at Clayton Cemetery in Cottonwood, AL.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Hodges, Donalsonville; two daughters, Yvonne Rikard, Enterprise, AL, Cindy White, Dothan, AL; one brother, Rex Hodges, Thomasville; five sisters, Elaine King, Eloise Seimer, Stark, FL; Morrell Dowling, Dothan, AL, Nell Todd, Donalsonville, Robbie Murphy, Montgomery, AL; and four grandchildren. JOEL MIMS
Mr. Joel Mims, age 70 of Bainbridge died Monday, August 18, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
Mr. Mims was born October 30, 1932, in Miller County. He had lived in Bainbridge for the past five years. He was a member of VFW Post 6652 in Ragland, AL and was of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Cox Chapel with the his great nephew, Rev. Kent Barwick, and son-in-law Mike Baxter officiating. Interment followed in Bellview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Gary Hipps, Gene Key, Rodney Phillips, Steve Key, David Barwick, and Ronnie Cox.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Hipps, Jacob Bagwell, Elisha Baxter, Shawn Mims, Clay Mims, Tomy Mims, and Andy Mims.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Bennett Mims, Bainbridge; one son, Anthony Nell Mims, Pell City, AL; two daughters, Tyna Bagwell, Ragland, AL, Beth Baxter, Bainbridge; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

EVA MAE DAVIS
We regret to announce the passing of Eva Mae Davis, age 87, of Valdosta, formerly of Colquitt, who died August 14, 2003, at the Holly Hill Nursing Home in Valdosta. The funeral service was held at the Colquitt Freewill Baptist Church on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Andy Merritt, Rev. Talmadge Worsley and Rev. Kent Barwick officiating. The place of internment was Colquitt City Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-8 PM, Friday, August 15, 2003 at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Davis was born on October 25, 1915, in Miller County. She was a member of the Colquitt Frail Baptist Church and worked as a housewife. She also owned and operated Davis Cafe in Colquitt for 20 years.
Ms. Davis leaves to cherish her memory, 1 son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy L. and Marilyn Davis of Valdosta; 2 brothers: Brewton Middleton of Colquitt and Billy Middleton of Valdosta; 2 sisters: Mable McVey of Colquitt and Ann Payne of Lakeland, FL.; 3 grandchildren: Reginald Davis of Valdosta, JuJuan Graves of Bluffton, SC, and Rhonda Crombie of Dublin. and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Willie R. Davis, one son, Richard Phil Davis, and one brother, Roy Edward Middleton.

JOHN BYRON DAVIS
We regret to announce the passing of John Byron Davis, age 44, of Donalsonville, who died Sunday, August 17, 2003, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a brief illness. A graveside service will be held at the Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home, in Donalsonville.
Byron was born on May 22, 1959, in Donalsonville, where he lived all his life. He worked several years in construction as a welder.
Mr. Davis leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Mrs. Marinelle Lyons Davis of Donalsonville; one son, Marcus Lee Davis of Donalsonville; one brother, Richard K. Davis, of Donalsonville; one sister, Mary Beth David Gary, of Dothan, AL; and three nephews, James Brian Davis of Jesup; John Derek Gary and John Brandon Gary, both of Dothan, AL.

MICHAEL BROWN
Michael Brown, 27, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003.
Mr. Brown was born August 4, 1975 to Edna Brown and the late Willie Prather. He attended school in Early County and worked for the Muskgrove Construction Company.
Survivors include his wife, Heather Brown; one son, Michael Brown Jr.; four sisters, Victoria Brown of Jakin, Stacey and Tracey Brown, both of Hilton and Theresa George of Blakely; three brothers, Arthur Brown, Tony Brown and Tyrone Brown, all of Hilton; father-in-law, Jimmy Hester; mother-in-law, Lindsay Hester; two brothers-in-law; and many other relatives.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at the Community Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Percy Legget officiating.
Pallbearers were James Brown, Marty Brown, James Borrows, Scott Brown, Jimmy Hester, Austin Johns and David James.
Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Muskgrove Construction.

MARVIN ANSEL HINES
Marvin Ansel Hines, age 71, a retired salesman, died Thursday, August 28, 2003 at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Morningside Baptist Church in Bainbridge, with burial at Roslawn Memory Gardens in Bainbridge. The officiating minister is Rev. Leon Van Landingham.
The family will receive frineds from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2003 at Ivey Funeral Home.
Mr. Hines was born May 9, 1932 in Sale City, the son of Homer E. Hines and Mary Ann Wacaser Hines. He graduated from West Bainbridge High School in 1949 and married Dollie Carter on February 7, 1953. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1959 and was a retired salesman from Callahan Grocery Company. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, Orion Lodge #8 F. & A.M., Bainbridge Shrine Club, and Hasan Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Dollie Carter Hines of Bainbridge; a son, Marvin A. Hines, Jr. of Thomasville; two daughters, Lisa H. Chapman of Bainbridge and Linda H. Newsome of Bainbridge; a sister, Helen H. Grant of Colquitt; and four grandchildren, Chris Hines of Valdosta, Sam Newsome of Bainbridge, Alicia Hines and Megan Hines, both of Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Ted Hines, Bob Hines, Billy Kelley, Sam Newsome, Chris Hines, Brian Hines and Terry Hines.

MARY HILDA GILBERT
Mrs. Mary Hilda Gilbert, age 83, of Colquitt, died Sunday, August 24, 2003, at Miller County Hospital.
Mrs. Gilbert was born November 16, 1919 in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Moody officiating. Interment followed in Roberts Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Bradford, Jimmy Bradford, Richard Bradford, Alan Clanton, Jay Gilbert, Skip Talbert, and Jesse Bryan.
Survivors include one daughter, Cile Askew; one son, Jerry Gilbert, Thomasville; one sister, Betty S. Bradford, Conyers; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

MARY LUCILLE BURCH
Mary Lucille Burch, 87, of Donalsonville, died August 25, 2003 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.
Ms. Burch was born on July 20, 1916 in Seminole County. She was a homemaker and a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation was held Tuesday, August 26 from 7-9:00 p.m. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Robert Johns officiated.
Survivors include one son, Roy Burch and daughter in law, Judy, of Donalsonville, one daughter, Linda Gayle Burch, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and was preceded in death by her husband, Buford “Tanker” Burch.
