Graveside services for Mrs. Melville (Hardy) Williford, 96, of North Augusta, SC, who died September 13, 2003 was conducted September 16 at 10:00 a.m. in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Dr. Andrew Menger officiated.
Survivors include cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williford was a native of Colquitt and lived most her life in Atlanta. She was a baptist and the wife of the late Clinton Williford.

MRS. DOROTHY GWENDOLYN BROOKS
Mrs. Dorothy Gwendolyn Brooks, 83, of Colquitt, died on September 20, 2003 at Miller County Hospital.
Mrs. Brooks was born on November 7, 1919 in Miller County. She was a homemaker, a member of the Colquitt United Methodist Church, and a member of the Blakely Chapter #282 of The Eastern Star.
Visitation was held from 7-8 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on September 22, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Colquitt United Methodist Church. Interment followed at the Colquitt City Cemetery. Rev. Matt Stewart officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Houston, Jason Nixon, and Jarrett Mock. Active pallbearers were Russell Nash, Dr. Barry Baker, Mickey Masters, Rusty Nash, Robert Nash, Brooks Barker, and Mitch Masters.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. T.I. Brooks of Colquitt, three daughters and son-in-laws, Becky and Russell Nash of Colquitt, Deede and Dr. Barry Barker of Madison, NC, Angie and Mickey Masters of Colquitt, eight grandchildren, Rusty and Jennifer Nash, Robert Nash, Kristan and Jason Houston, Brooks Barker, Chelsea Barker, Nikki and Jason Nixon, Mitch Masters, and Mandi Masters, three great grandchildren, Taylor Nash, Carter Ann Houston, Cade Nixon, one niece, Pam Powell, and one nephew, David Byer.

GLEN FORREST MOBLEY, JR
Glen Forrest Mobley, Jr., 77, died September 19, 2003 at his house in Graham, N.C. after being sick with cancer for six months.
Funeral services will be held September 26, 2003 at Memorial Service at Colomokee Baptist Church at 3 p.m. The officiating minister is Rev. Fred Odom.
Mr. Mobley was born in Dade City, FL and became a member in 1966 in the International Brotherhood of Electricial Worker Albany Local Union #1531 and retired as a master Journeyman Electrician in 1990. He lived in Southwest Georgia for 32 years before moving to N.C. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include three daughters: Glenna and Johnny Bruner of Blakely, Patricia and Hughey Denner of Mebane, N.C., Carol and Jerome Tomberlin of Colquitt; two sons: Jim Mobley of Columbia, S.C., Joe and Kathy Mobley of Martinez; one sister: Betty Murphy of Dade City, FL; one brother: David Mobley of Dade City, FL.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Forrest Mobley Sr. and Bessie Ward Mobley.

CALVIN EUGENE HOUSTON
Calvin Eugene Houston, 75, passed away September 22, 2003 at Doctors Hospital in Monroe, LA.
Graveside services were held September 24, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Colquitt City Cemetery, with internment following. The officiating minister was Rev. Don Bazel.
Mr. Houston was born November 22, 1927 in Miller County. He was a veteran of WWII, US Marines and also served in Korean War in Army Corp of Engineering. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and was a retired civil engineer. He was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, LA.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Nora Houston of Monroe, LA; two sons: Greg and daughter-in-law Angel Houston of Birmingham, AL and Doug and daughter-in-law Eugenia Houston of Miami, FL; one sister: Mary France Scoggins of Donalsonville; four grandchildren: Chad Houston, Taylor Houston, Chris Houston and Audrey Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents Buford and Veda McDonald Houston and one sister, Ruth Quattlebaum.

WILLIAM LAMAR HOWARD
William Lamar Howard, 60, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2003 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 21, 2003 at the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges. The place of internment was Blakely Cemetery. The officiating minister was Mr. Jerry Howard.
Mr. Howard was born September 28, 1942 in Early County to the late Louie James Howard and Frances McFay Howard of Blakely. He worked as a self-employed electrician.
Survivors are his wife, Vonnell Barnett Howard of Blakely; two daughters: Teresa Cox of Ft. Gaines and Lisa Knight of Metter; three sons: Ricky Lamar Howard of Jakin, Tracy Howard of Cedar Springs and Michael Howard of Blakely.
Pallbearers were Bobby Howard, Gerald Howard, Allen Howard, Jerry Howard, Dr. Lowell Justice and Derwin Justice.

MARIE SMITH
We regret to announce the passing of Marie Smith, age 71, of Donalsonville, who passed away Tuesday afternoon , September 30, 2003, at her home in Donalsonville.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Billy Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Miller County.
Mrs. Smith was born April 6 1932 in Miller County to the late William Washington and Minnie Maude Faircloth Ingram. She married Ralph "Lynn" Smith on July 11, 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of the Unity Church of God, where she taught Sunday School.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Lynn Smith of Donalsonville; two sons Wayne and Judy Smith of Albany, Quinn and Janice Smith of Colquitt; two daughters Yvonne and Edward Whittaker and Debra and Sonny Gross both of Donalsonville; one brother Phillip Morris Ingram of Albany. Nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Josh Gross, Doug Smith, Ronnie Smith, Casey Gross, Doug Rankin and Herman Enfinger. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
AUDREY REGINA FOUNTAIN
Audrey Regina Fountain, age 34, of Colquitt died Saturday, September 20, 2003, at Miller County Hospital.
Ms. Fountain was born in Miller County to the late Lonnie Fountain and Waver Fountain on November 12, 1968. She attended Bethel and Miller County High School.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27, at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Archie Crews officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Kayle Fountain; one son, Cedric Fountain; mother, Mrs. Waver Fountain; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruby Gilbert, all of Colquitt; six sisters, Betty Bush, Debra Fountain, Berlisha Fountain, Krystal Fountain, Colquitt, Veronica Pride, Ft. Pierce, FL, Cowanda Fountain, Pelham; and one brother, Tyrone Fountain, Colquitt.

LOUIS D. COOK
Louis D. Cook, age 60 of Colquitt died Monday, September 29, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Cook was born July 10, 1943 in Auburndale, FL. He was a truck driver and a member of Kimbrel Chapel Church of God.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 1 at 4:00 p.m. at Cook’s Union Methodist Church with the Rev. Fletcher Sheffield and the Rev. Chad Middleton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Todd Griffin, Isaac Cox, Jr., Brad Lambert, Carroll Harper, Michael Middleton and Jeffery Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers were Brad Williams and Tracy Kimbrel.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wanda Cook, Colquitt; two sons, Luke Cook, Chance Cook, Colquitt; one daughter, Becky Stark; three brothers, Junior Cook, Aubrey Cook, Terry Cook, Colquitt; two sisters, Jeanette Scott, Frankie Phillips, Colquitt; and four grandchildren.

BETTY JEAN MIDDLETON WELLINGTON
Betty Jean Middleton Wellington, 74, daughter of the late Eugene and Vestelle Middleton, died in her home in Eufaula, AL on September 24, 2003.
She is survived by her three children, Jerry Wellington and Lola Gilmore of Eufaula, AL. Bob Wellington of Destin, FL; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers, Wallace Middleton of Suffolk, VA, Don Middleton of Colquitt; four sisters, Alice Foss of Crestview, FL, Patricia Middleton of Iron City, Janet Middleton of Knoxville, TN and Lomie Sanders of Colquitt; one brother preceded her in death, David Middleton.
A memorial service will be held at Mothers Home Cemetery on Sunday October 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m.

We regret to announce the passing of Ms. Lee Williams, age 95, of Jakin, who passed away early Friday morning. September 26, 2003, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.
Funeral services were held at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville on Sunday, September 28, 2003 at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Perry Hearn officiating.
Mrs. Williams was born March 19, 1908 in Early County to the late Elly and Ida Easom Hill. She was married to the late Joe Horace Williams. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Lillian Wright and her husband Jack of Dothan, AL; one granddaughter, Kaye Wells and her husband Andy, also of Dothan, AL; one great-granddaughter, Kacie Wells Baggett and her husband Jason of Colorado Springs, CO; and one great-grandson Ben Wells of Dothan, AL. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

ARTHUR M. WILSON
Arthur M. Wilson, 76, of Bainbridge, died on Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Archbald Medical Center in Thomasville.
Mr. Wilson was born on August 13, 1927, in Decatur County. He married Mary Lou Johnson on October 22, 1954, and was a fireman for Southern Airways for several years. He was a farmer, carpenter, and a retired maintenance worker for Bainbridge State Hospital and a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on October 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Brinson. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Rev. Stanley Phillips, Rev. Jimmy Dean, and Rev. Ron Kirkland officiated. Active pallbearers were Chris Kelley, Brad Kelley, Don Gambrell, Sam Jones, John Watts Jr., and Derrick Cox. Honorary pallbearers were the men of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Johnson Wilson of Bainbridge; a son, Kinney Wilson of Loganville; a daughter, Cindy of Bainbridge; two brothers, three sisters, and three grandchildren.

CLEOTHA MERRITT
Cleotha Merritt, 82, died on September 26, 2003.
Ms. Merritt was born on February 13, 1921. She was a member of Beulah Methodist Church in Colquitt and later affiliated with First A.B. Baptist Church of Bainbridge, where she served until her death.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m. at First A.B. Church in Bainbridge. Rev. J.C. Jackson officiated.
Survivors include one daughter, Terry Olton of Bainbridge; five sisters, Delia Chandler of Cleveland, OH, Mattie Pinkston of Dayton, OH, Mary Gibson of CA, Alice Louis Atkins of Hollywood, FL, and Adella Williams of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Frank Hayes of Cleveland, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

CHARLES EDWIN HALL SR.
Charles Edwin Hall Sr., 92, of Newton, died on Thursday, October 2, 2003, at this residence.
Mr. Hall was born in Baker County on June 12, 1911. He was an auditor for the State of Georgia Department of Corrections and a member of the Newton Baptist Church. Mr. Hall was an United States Army veteran of World War II. He was married to the late Helen Sarah Hall and was the son of the late Cal A. and Belle Culpepper Hall.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on October 7, at Newton Baptist Church with burial in Newton City Cemetery. Rev. L.A. Joiner and Pastor Roger Eunice officiated.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. 'Chuck' Hall Jr. and his wife Mary Nell of Newton and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MARY LU STAPLETON WILKIN
Mrs. Mary Lu Wilkin, 91, of Colquitt, GA passed away October 16, 2003 at Miller Co. Hospital. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 18, 2003 from 7 to 9 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 3:00 PM Sunday, October 19, 2003 at Colquitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Stewart and Rev. Floyd Mitchell officiating. The active pallbearers will be Dan Newberry, Matthew Wilkin, Brian Newberry, Richard A. Slaby Jr., Peter Lawson Wilkin, John David Lane, Charlton L. Summers, and John Lane with the past and present choir members of the Colquitt United Methodist Church Choir serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkin was born February 19, 1912 in Miller County the daughter of Newton Lawson Stapleton & Annie Lu Booker Stapleton. She was a homemaker, member of Colquitt United Methodist Church, church organist and Choir Director at Colquitt United Methodist Church for 50 years, was on the South West Georgia Regional Library Board, Chairman of the Miller County Cancer drive for several years, Volunter accompanist for school musical activities, played for many weddings and funerals over the past 50 years and was also counselor for the MYF, In 1995 she and her husband Baughn were presented the Colquitt Miller County Chamber of Commerce Presidents Award for a Lifetime of Community Service.
Her survivors include one daughter, Joan Wilkin Newberry & son-in-law Milton of Tifton, Ga; three sons, Edgar B. Wilkin Jr. & daughter-in-law Ann of Albany, Ga, Peter Lawson Wilkin & daughter-in-law Haidee of Spanish Fort, Al, and David StapletonWilkin & daughter-in-law Linda of Augusta, Ga; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Newton Lawson Stapleton & Annie Lu Booker Stapleton, and her loving husband, Edgar Baughn Wilkin.

Mrs. Margart Harden of Colquitt passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Miller Nursing Home.
Mrs. Harden was born February 17, 1927 in Haines City, Fl. She was a homemaker and a member of Bellview Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Womack and the Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Interment followed in the Bellview Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Harden, Wes Harden, Albert Harden Jr., David Harden, Little Phil Harden and Dale Powell.
Survivors include her husand, Henry Harden, Colquitt; one daughter, Nita Edmonds, Iron City; five sons, Troy Harden, Albert Harden, Phillip Harden, Colquitt, Steve Harden, Dave Harden, Camilla; four sisters, Doris Davis, Colquitt, Nell Lane, Iron City, Syble Mills, Bainbridge, Zella Quinn, Brunswick; two brothers, Eddie “Buddy” Griffin and Marshall Griffin, Bainbridge; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
