BRENDA G. JOHNSON

We regret to announce the passing of Brenda G. Johnson, age 44, of Colquitt, who passed away October 15, 2003 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at the Sheffield Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. John Stephens officiating.
Mrs. Johnson was born September 8, 1959 in Louisiana. She was married to Alvin Johnson of Colquitt. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Faith Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons; James Johnson and Chris Johnson both of Colquitt; two daughters, Tina Johnson of Colquitt and Jeannie Floyd of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Debra Thompson of Bainbridge and Sylvia Beamon of Preston; one brother, Marty Guy of Colquitt; one granddaughter, Chevy Lynn Johnson of Colquitt. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Johnson, in 1994.
Pallbearers will be Marty Guy, Jr., Matt Thompson, Brian Thompson, Issac Cox, Jr., Jerome Beamon and Michael Daniel Cox.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DANIEL PARKER

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Daniel "Bunk" Parker, 90, of Donalsonville, who passed away Sunday, October 12, 2003 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.
Visitation will be held at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home from 3:00-4:00 p.m., Tuesday October 12, 2003. A graveside service will follow at the Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, at 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Parker was born in Decatur County, on November 6, 1912, to the late John William and Ina Lee Childree Parker. He worked as a farmer and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Donalsonville.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, William Fred Parker and his wife June; and two daughters, Helen Ivey and her husband Jack; and Jean Marmon and her husband Floyd all of Donalsonville. He also leaves six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

HENRY WADE WHITAKER

We regret to announce the passing of Henry Wade Whitaker, age 71, of Miller County, who passed away October 11, 2003 at Miller County Hospital.
Funeral services were held at Sheffield Funeral Chapel on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Cemetery.
Mr. Whitaker was born January 16, 1932 in Miller County. He was an electrician and was a member of the Baptist Faith Church. He was an Veteran of the US Army/US Marines.
He leaves to cherish his memory, six sisters, Beulah "Bill" Chauncey of Albany, Ophelia Briones, Runell Dugan and Wilma Young all of Colquitt, Geraldine Garner of Lessbury and Evelyn Best of Wolcottville, IN.; one brother, Charles Whitaker of Colquitt; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers were David Varnadoe, Tony Dugan, Jimmy Whitaker, Ronnie Briones, Wayne Chauncey, Sonny Whitaker and Randal Garner.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

IDA FARROW CHANCEY

We regret to announce the passing of Ida Farrow Chancey, age 83, of Colquitt, who passed away October 12, 2003 at Miller County Hospital.
Funeral services were held at Colquitt First Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Don Butler, Rev. Don Bazal, and Rev. David Womack officiating. Interment will follow in City Cemetery.
Ms. Chancey was born March 12, 1970 in Miller County. She was a supervisor of Housekeeping at Miller County Hospital for 22 years and was a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Diane Clenney and son-in-law Randy of Colquitt; two grandsons, Willis R. and Rhonda Clenney, and Kevin B. and Gina Clenney, all of Albany and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Clenney, Adam Clenney, Rachel Clenney, and Alex Clenney, all of Albany.
Active pallbearers were Joe Martin, Tommy Wade, Lavon Clenney, Gerald Garland, Terry Batchelor, and Charles Pickle.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WILLIAM VERNON WIDNER

We regret to announce the passing of William Vernon Widner, age 71, of Miller County, who passed away October 11, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Olive Holiness Church on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at, with the Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Cemetery.
Mr. Widner was born June 20, 1932 in Miller County. He was an Agricultural parts salesman at Sunbelt Equipment Company and was a member of the Methodist Faith Church. He was an Army veteran in the Korea War, a member of the American Legion Gerald Grow Post #165 and William M. Wilson VFW Post # 6046. He also served on The Colquitt/Miller County Housing Authority.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Peggy W. Widner of Colquitt; one son, Greg Widner of Colquitt; one daughter, Jennifer Lawson of Colquitt; one son-in-law, Scott Lawson of Colquitt; five brothers, Coy Widner of Conyers, Willard Widner of Auburndale, FL, Ray Widner and Larry Widner, both of Colquitt, and Claude Widner of Marianna, FL; one sister, Faye Skipper of Donalsonville; three grandchildren, G.J. Widner, Nikki Widner and Isabella Lawson.
Active pallbearers were Walter Snodgrass, Jerry Phillips, Carlton Skipper, Gary Rentz, Cole Tyler and William S. West.
Honorary pallbearers were American Legion and VFW Members.

HIRAM BROOKINS

We regret to announce the passing of Hiram Brookins, age 81, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Donalsonville passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003 in Sebring, FL.
Funeral services were held October 12, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakview Church of God in Donalsonville with Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brookins was born in Houston County, AL on July 11, 1922 to the late Ranzy L. and Grace Truman Knight Brookins. He served his country in the US Navy. He was married to the former Virginia Dasinger who preceded him in death in 1996. He retired from Borden's Dairy after 20 years of service. He was a member of Covenant Church of God in Sebring, FL.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four daughter Pamela Pettis and her husband Jack of Lakeland, FL; Wanda Harden and her husband Ray of Ft. Pierce, FL; Donna Smith of Sebring, FL and Rhona Berish and her husband Mike of Sebring, FL. Two brothers L.B. Brookins and Sam Brookins both of Donalsonville. Three sisters Wynell Holt, Gwen Joiner and Norma Trawick all of Iron City. 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Joey Brookins, Michael Holman, Donald Smith, Jeremy Berish, Chase Berish, Jeffrey Trawick, Larry Joiner, Reggie Trawick and Chris Brookins. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

GAYNOR E. TEDDER

We regret to announce the passing of Gaynor E. Tedder of Donalsonville, who passed away Friday, October 10, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 12, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at the Unity Church of God in Iron City with the Rev. Billy Dawson, the Rev. Daniel Jones, and the Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville.
Mr. Tedder was born on December 13, 1943 in Seminole County to the late Hugh Clarence Tedder, St. and Elizabeth Cobb Tedder. He was married to the former Margaret Cowart and he was self-employed. He was a member of the Unity Church of God.
Mr. Tedder leaves to cherish his memory his mother: Elizabeth Tedder of Donalsonville; a loving wife, Margaret Tedder of Donalsonville, one son, Gaynor E. Tedder, Jr. of Panama City, FL; two daughters, Mitzy Tedder of Donalsonville and Clarissa Hill of Cedar Springs; two brothers, Hugh Clarence Tedder, Jr. and his wife Katie of Donalsonville and Max and Orita Tedder of Donalsonville; one sister, Jean Mosely of Donalsonville. Two grandchildren, Matthew Gaynor Hughes and Morgan Margarette Hill. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Herman Enfinger, Wendell Cross, Bunk Kelley, Johnny Frith, Bill Hornsby, and David Givens. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ladies of Unity Church of God. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

BETTY SHEFFIELD DOYLE

Betty Sheffield Doyle, of 212 Thomas Drive, Dothan, AL, died Thursday, October 30, 2003. She was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan, AL with Reverend Roy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Mrs. Doyle was born November 11, 1930, in Miller County to A.C. and Susie Bell Houston Sheffield and lived the early years of her life there. She has been a resident of Dothan for the past 19 years. Mrs. Doyle was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include five children, Brenda Tatum and her husband, Kenneth of Dothan, AL, Ronnie Kinsaul and his wife, Karen of Camilla, Rickey Kinsaul and his wife, Laura, of Dothan, AL, Debbie Leath and her husband, Jon, of Spanish Fort, AL, Zachery Kinsaul and his wife, Paulette, of Cary NC; twelve grandchildren, Gregory Driskell, Ashlee Leath Milstead, Lindsey Leath, Marci Kinsaul, Bethanie Kinsaul, Joshua Kinsaul, Drake Kinsaul, Casey Kinsaul Tomberlin, Kane Kinsaul, Derek Kinsaul, Casey Kinsaul Tomberlin, Kane Kinsaul, Drake Kinsaul, Cory Young and Reagan Whitehead; one great-grandchild, Bryant James Tomberlin; a brother and sister-in-law, Cosby and Peggy Sheffield, of LA; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wylene and T.E. Newberry of Colquitt, Barbara Jean and Walter Swearington of Donalsonville, Annette Riddley of Blakely, Cornelia Lambert of Pelham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

BAZEL EUGENE CROSS

We regret to announce the passing of Bazel Eugene "Curly" Cross, age 75, who passed away Monday, October 27, 2003 at the Bainbridge Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Kenneth Cross, Dr. Carl G. Garnett and Rev. Billy Dawson officiating.
Mr. Cross was born in Miller County on December 31, 1927 to the late Jiley Mack, Sr. and Lela Pearl Brockett Cross. He served as a private in the U.S. Army, and worked as a self-employed carpenter.
He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Doris Cross, of Bainbridge; one daughter, Bonita Lynne and Melvin Henry of Donalsonville; one son, Kenneth Wayne and Lisa Ann Cross of Attapulgus; seven sister, Jessie Ingram of Columbus, Rev. Clara Wiggins of Baxley, Louise Jenkisson of Brunswick, MD, Beulah Frasier Baker of Donalsonville, Nina Brazetton of Santa Ana, CA, Margie Covington of Miami, FL, and Betrice Widner of Colquitt; two brothers, Mack Cross of Jakin and J.E. Cross of Destin, FL. Eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Cross was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Bobby Dale Pitts, Ronald Eugene Cross, Bazel Eugene Cross, Jr. and one brother, Ralph Cross. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

BERT DELAINE CLEVELAND

We regret to announce the passing of Bert Delaine Cleveland, age 68, who passed away Sunday, October 26, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Olive Holiness Church on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Oscar Oakley, Rev. Ronnie Baker and Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Interment will follow at Gordon Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 til 9 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Mr. Cleveland worked as a farmer and attended Mt. Olive Holiness Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Viola P. Cleveland of Colquitt; two daughters: Kay Stoker and son-in-law Duane of Georgetown and Donna Weeks and son-in-law Stephen of Colquitt; two sons: Delane and daughter-in-law Jinnie Cleveland of Douglas and Justin Cleveland; two sisters: Anne Roberts and Mildred Widner of Lanette, AL; five grandchildren: Jessica Stoker, Jana Stoker, Cleve Weeks, Nathan Weeks and Jolie Cleveland. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Buford Cleveland, L.N. Cleveland, Zack Cleveland, Ray Henry, Phil Henry and Ken Roberts.

GERALDINE W. OWEN

Geraldine W. Owen, 78, of Macon, died Friday, October 17, 2003.
Mrs. Owen, wife of the late Robert G. Owen, was a member of the Cherokee Heights United Methodist Church and the Winnie Mae Hill Sunday School class. She was retired from Peninsula Life Insurance Company. She was a member of NARFE.
Visitation was held Sunday, October 19 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Hart's Mortuary. Services were held on Monday, October 20, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary with the Rev. Dan Wilson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery (North Gate).
Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl O. and Wayne Garrard of Macon, grandchildren, Tiffany G. and Shawn Cannon and John W. Garrard, all of Macon, brother and sister-in-law, Billy C. and Betty Wilson of Cedar Springs, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Bessie Wilson and one brother, William Max Wilson.
Hart's Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

MARGARET JANE KNIGHT

Margaret Jane Knight, 82, a retired registered nurse, died Friday, October 24, 2003 at Quitman Presbyterian Home in Quitman.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2003 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge with burial at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bainbridge. The officiating minister was Rev. Mike Jones.
Mrs. Knight was born September 27, 1921 in Crawfordsville, IN. She was a registered nurse in the U.S. Army, Bainbridge Memorial Hospital, and retired from Bainbridge State Hospital. She moved from Bainbridge to Colquitt in 1986 and was a member of Thomasville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Knight, and a son, Steven M. Knight.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Annette Knight of Boykin; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy K. and Fred Bonner, Jr. of Thomasville; a daughter-in-law, Linda Knight of Colquitt; five grandchildren, Chris Knight of Boykin, Courtney Bonner of Thomasville, Dolly Lockhart of Malone, FL, Terri Adkinson of Dothan, AL and Larry Font of Colquitt, and six great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

JEWELL T. LANE

We regret to announce the passing of Jewell T. Lane, age 100, formerly of Colquitt, who passed away November 6, 2003 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Elder Robert Conner and Rev. Walter Daniels officiating. Interment followed in Primitive Union Cemetery.
Lela Jewell Thomas Lane was born February 16, 1903 to Edgar Thomas and Judson Middleton Thomas of the Enterprise Community of Miller County. She was the fourth of eight children, Perry Thomas, Gertrude Thomas Williams, Gordan Thomas, Melvin Thomas, Clyde Thomas Rathel, Audrey Thomas Jones and Ed Thomas. The parents and all eight children lived their entire lives within 10 miles of the old home place in Miller County. She married Shingler Lane on May 7, 1922, and this loving union produced five children. For over 50 years she and her loving husband farmed, raised a family and prospered. Mr. Lane passed away in 1974, and Mrs. Lane lived alone in the old farm house until 1999. She was 97 years old when she lost her oldest son, Wallace Lane.
Mrs. Lane was a homemaker and was a life time member of the Union Primitive Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter: Doris Beall of Albany; three sons: Hulan Lane of Dothan, AL, Max Lane of Tallahassee, FL and Lloyd Lane of Albany; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Lane, Jeff Lane, Jim Lane, Joe Lane, Tommy Beall and Mike Newell.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WILLIAM FRANK COOK

We regret to announce the passing of William Frank (Tunk) Cook, age 65, who passed November 4, 2003 at his residence in Americus.
Funeral services were held at Sheffield Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 7, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Long officiating.
Mr. Cook worked as a mechanic and was a member of the Baptist Faith Church.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory one son: Glenn and daughter-in-law Sandra Cook of Meigs; one daughter: Joann and son-in-law Ken Forrester of Americus; one brother: Gerald Cook of Colquitt; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Otis Brock, Luke Cook, Roger Pickren, Joe Cook, Lee Brock and Brad Lambert.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
