Ed Farmer, 67, husband of Dean Farmer, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Clarke County, Ed had lived in Oconee County most of his life. He was the son of the late James Edward and Frances Hardy Farmer. He was the owner of Farmer Grading Inc and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. He served his country in the US Coast Guard. Edsel Jeptha Arnold
Edsel Jeptha Arnold, age 81 of Monroe, died on Sept. 5, 2008. He was born on Aug. 22, 1927 in Anderson County, South Carolina to the late Joe Mell Arnold and the late Onie Sellers Arnold. Edsel served as an Airman First Class in the US Air Force from 1951 through 1955 and the US Air Force Reserve from 1955 through 1959. He received an Honorable Discharge from both branches of the service, having won a Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. During his service he had the honor of serving as chauffeur to General Eisenhower during his base inspection. He also had the pleasure of receiving a trophy and a kiss from Marilyn Monroe after winning a car race while stationed in Las Vegas.

Interment followed at Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Mr. Harrison was a member of Bethlehem First Baptist Church. He was well liked and respected by everyone that knew him and very dedicated to his family. He was a Retired Sergeant with the Walton County Sheriffs Department with 24 years of service. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Past Deputy District Governor of Georgia Lions Club, and Past President of Monroe Lions Club, Life member of NRA.

Thomas Watson (Watt) McDonald, Jr. died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Monroe, he was born on May 20, 1927 to Thomas Watson McDonald, Sr. and Irene Fambrough McDonald. A 1944 graduate of Monroe High School, Mr. McDonald received a degree from Emory at Oxford in 1948 and a BBA from the University of Georgia in 1950. He was a Seaman 1st Class in the Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Jean McDowell McDonald, three children: Dr. Thomas R. John Sidney Conner
John Sidney Conner, 83 passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. A native of Walton Co., Mr. Conner was the son of the late Walter David and Susie Pearl OKelley Conner. He was preceded in death by brothers: Harold, Mell, Prince, Carl, Hugh, and Billy Conner and sister: Hilda Griffin. During WWII Mr. Conner served on the USS Yorktown as a pharmacist mate 2nd class and pharmacist technician during the Yokohama and Hiroshima campaigns. He worked for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service and retired from the National Dairy Council. He was distinguished as the first Male volunteer with St. Mary’s Auxiliary and also volunteered with St. Mary’s Hospice House. Mr. Conner was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife: Marie Townsend Conner of Statham; daughter: Madelyn Krieger and husband Bob of Statham; grandchildren: Maddi and Conner Krieger both of Statham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anthony Philip “TONY” Pascale, age 82, of Monroe, GA passed away peacefully at this daughter’s home on Oct. 7, 2008. He is survived by: daughter and son-in-law: Toni and Carl Cucuzza of Monroe; son and daughter-in-law: Philip and Maria Pascale of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law: Patrick and Connie Pascale of Conyers; sister and brother-in-law: Angela and Ray McKay of Snellville; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Edna. Tony Pascale was born on Sept. 4, 1926 in Bradford, PA to the late Phillip and Mamie (Sica) Pascale. An Army veteran, he served as a Sergeant in the Philippine Islands and on Guam in World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the Army, he was a gardener, a factory supervisor, a pizza shop owner, and a circulation manager for the Gwinnett Daily News.

She was preceded in death by her son: Scott Douglas Reid and her parents: Astor and Blanche Johnson. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years: Doug Reid of Monroe, daughter: Ginger Hunter, Florida; son and daughter-in-law: Robbie and Laura Reid, Monroe, brother and sister-in-law: Douglas and Vel Johnson, Marietta; sister: JoAnn Brown, Tucker, g randchildren: Zebulon Hunter, Logan Hunter, Jake Reid, Jesse Reid and her many brothers and sisters-in-law and their families.
