Ted Bates Waller, 59, of Blakely, passed away February 5, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2004, 3:00 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Parish Myers and Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow in George Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rentz, Ricky Little, Ricky Key, Mickey Weeks, Allen Daniels and Lewis Igou.
Mr. Waller was born November 25, 1944 in Early County. He was the Regional Vice President of American Agri Insurance.
Survivors include his spouse, Diann Obryan Waller of Blakely; three sons, Teddy Waller and wife Shannon, Brad Waller and wife Kim and David Waller of Blakely; one daughter, Dedee Poole and husband Alan of Blakely; one brother, Clenn Waller of Blakely; one stepdaughter, Amanda Obryan Waller of Blakely; one stepson, Eric Obryan and wife Tammy of Dothan, AL.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Waller and his parents, Samuel Curtis Waller and Emma Lee Bates Waller.

CARY MARVIN HOUSTON
Cary Marvin Houston, 88, of Blakely, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Early Memorial Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Blakely with Dr. Cliff Houston and Rev. Mark Worsley officiating. Interment will follow in Blakely Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Mills, Guy Dunaway, Jerry Phillips, Tripp Alexander, Ben Houston and Wallace Cleveland.
Honorary pallbearers were V.F.W. and American Legion members.
Mr. Houston was born August 29, 1915 in Early County to the late William Clifford Houston and the late Lois Middleton Houston. He was a retired furniture businessman, a retired Veterans service officer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Blakely. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Delma Barbree Houston of Blakely; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Richard Grist, Jr. of Blakely; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Cliff Houston and Karen of Pittsford, N.Y.; one brother, Ray Houston of Colquitt; one sister, Betty Grimsley of Montgomery, AL.

NAIDA ANN HEWETT
Naida Ann Hewett, 74, of Sharpsburg, formerly of Colquitt, died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Fayette Community Hospital.
Graveside Inurnment service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2004 at Houston Cemetery with Reverend Thomas Shannon officiating.
Ms. Hewett was born in Baker County on November 8, 1929 to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Houston. Later, she married and moved to Miami, FL where she worked as an Intake Supervisor for Dade County for 30 years and then an additional 10 years in the same capacity for the federal government. She moved to Sharpsburg in 1995 to be closer to her family. Naida was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include one son; Alonza Hewett, Jr. of Miami, FL; one daughter, Luanne Baker and her husband Chris of Sharpsburg; one brother, Edward Houston and his wife Winifred of Lumber City; two sisters, Dorothy Casey of Lithia Springs and Elizabeth Lane of Bainbridge; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonza Hewett, Sr. and one sister, Bobby Sue Faircloth.

CLARENCE OLIVER BLACKWELL
Clarence Oliver Blackwell, 93, of Donalsonville, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Donalsonville Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Donalsonville with Rev. Luther Hastey officiating.
Mr. Blackwell was born in Ludowici on December 22, 1911 to the late James Wesley and Bessy Leona Townsend Blackwell. He met and married the late Dollie Mae Alday who preceded him in death in 1974. He was a welder and worked for Gip Youmans Machine Shop in Donalsonville before retiring several years ago. He had been a resident of Bainbridge Health Care for the past nine years.
Survivors include one half-brother, H.R. Rozier of Towsend and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
ALENE D. FORD
Alene D. "Mema" Ford, 67, of Colquitt, died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at Donalsonville Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge with interment at West Bainbridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Ford was a retired seamstress and presser for Jack Winter, Inc.

LEWIS C. GILBERT
Lewis C. Gilbert, 56, of Bainbridge, died Saturday, February 10, 2004 at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Markham officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Ira Lee Jones, Jr. , Wiliam D. Jones, Jamie Leon Jones, Jamie Chambliss, John Sizemore, Jr. and Gary Cooper.
Mr. Gilbert was born June 12, 1947 in Skeene, Mississippi, then moved to Decatur County in the early 1970s and has lived there ever since. He was a self-employed mechanic and electrician in the mobile home industry and a was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Anne Jones Gilbert of Bainbridge; one son, Randy Lee Gilbert and daughter-in-law Charlotte Kay of Bainbridge; one daughter, Shelia Anne Clinton and son-in-law William Wade Clinton, Jr. of Bainbridge; two brothers, Charles L. Gilbert of Vicksburg, MS and James "Jimmy" L. Gilbert of Greenville, MS; one sister, Barbara Cobb of Duluth, MN; his mother, Grace Louise Bunch Gilbert of Greenville, MS; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Cameron Gilbert, Sr.

RUTH MEREDITH WEAVER
Ruth Meredith Weaver, 75, of Blakely Saturday, February 14, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely with Rev. Barry Hendrick and Rev. Ralph Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Sowhatchee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Meredith, Terry Meredith, Philip NeSmith, Bobby Sanders, Mike Temples and Rex Henderson.
Mrs. Weaver was born October 1, 1928 in Miller County, the daughter of the late Williams Edward Meredith and the late Martha Newberry Meredith. She had lived most of her adult life in Early County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Zion Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, James Weaver and wife Rhonda, David Weaver and wife Cindy, both of Blakely; one daughter, Diane Temples and husband Mike of Gainesville; two brothers; Sigo Meredith of Colquitt and Bobby Meredith of Pineview; one sister, Sara Cannon of Blakely; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

RIDLEY H. BARRON, JR.
Ridley H. Barron, Jr., 74, of Columbus passed away Friday, February 13, 2004 in Oak Manor.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2004 in Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with interment in Parkhill Cemetery. Rev. Ridley H. Barron, III, Dr. Kevin Calhoun and Rev. Bill VanDyke will officiate.
Mr. Barron was born February 6, 1930 in Columbus, the son of the late Ridley H. Barron, Sr. and Madge Carter Barron. He had lived in Columbus most of his life and retired from Georgia Power Company after twenty years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Barron was a member and Deacon of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church. His first love was music and he had a great interest and participated with the church choirs where ever he belonged. He was active in youth athletic programs and served as president of Pioneer Little League.
He was preceded in death by his parent and a brother, James Shipp.
Survivors include his wife, Nadice C. Barron; three children, Harriet and Richard Barrow of Columbus, Tonda and Keith Soloman of Douglas, Rev. Ridley H. Barron, III and wife, Sara Ellen of Douglas; nine grandchildren, Ric and Carter Barrow, Barron, Reid, Kenan and Luke Soloman, Harrison, Abby and Joshua Barron; brother and sister-in-laws, Doris Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Brooks, Elsie Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kimbrel, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Clenney, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Clemey, Mr. and Mrs. Lavon Clenney.

CHRISTINE STANTON SHEFFIELD
Mrs. Christine Stanton Sheffield, age 95, of Newton died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at Palmyra Medical Center.
Mrs. Sheffield was born June 14, 1908, in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of Newton United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Newton United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Patmos Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carroll Moore, Ronald Brownlee, Roger Sheffield, Jeff Sheffield, George Tennille and Arthur Sheffield.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca McBrayer, Bremen; one son, Dr. William I. Sheffield, Roswell; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen S. Richardson, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Sheffield, and one daughter-in-law, Jane W. Sheffield.

KATHLEEN SKIPPER
Kathleen Skipper, age 84, of Donalsonville died Friday, February 20, 2004, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Skipper was born July 30, 1919 in Early County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 22, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Johnson and Rev. Melvin Moody officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronald Hutchins, Alan Hutchins, Keith Hutchins, Ronnie Holley, Ronnie Shiver and Wallace Shiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Skipper, and one son, Garland Skipper.
She is survived by three sons, Carlton and daughter-in-law Faye Skipper, Emerson and daughter-in-law Linda Skipper of Blakely; one daughter, Margaret Butler of Conyers; one sister-in-law, Willie Ree Hutchins of Donalsonville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

Waver Davis, of Cairo, passed away Monday, February 23, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Majors and Rev. Gordon Cloud officiating. Interment will follow at 4:30 p.m. in Colquitt.
Pallbearers will be David Osgatharp, Neal Dunlap, Stacy Glover, Michael Washington, Albert Smith and Jody Bishop.
Ms. Davis was born May 4, 1933 in Colquitt. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Duncan Davis and Edie Mae Davis.
Survivors include one daughter; Sharon Willis Grace of Oxford, MS; two sons, Greg Willis and Jack Willis, Jr. of Cairo; two brothers; Eugene Davis of Atlanta and Leon Davis of Woodstock; two nephews and five grandchildren.

Gary Eugene Braswell, Sr., 70, of Donalsonville, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Luther Hastey and Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Ingram, Alan Ingram, Paul Johnson, Brad Dollar, Randy Baggerly and Jackie Sheffield.
Mr. Braswell was born on March 3, 1934 in Seminole County to the late Emmett Jefferson and Martha Lena Ingram Braswell. He was a retired millwright (electrical lineman) with Carolina Industrial Construction and Maintenance. Mr. Braswell had served his country in the U.S. Airforce. He had lived in Seminole County most of his life and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Gay Baggerly and her husband Randy of Bainbridge; two sons, Gary E. Braswell, Jr. of Columbus and Roger Dale Braswell of Iron City; one brother, Travis Braswell of Donalsonville; three sisters, Glenda Sheffield of Albany, Jean Tyler of Albany and Joy Giles of Macon and one granddaughter, Abbie Baggerly of Bainbridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Bradford. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
GENE ROLLIN ADKINS
Gene Rollin Adkins, 73, of Colquitt, died March 2, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Colquitt First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Bazel officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Rest Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Gaskins, Scott Cutchins, Jonathan Cutchins, Caleb Adkins, Rodney Bryan and Bill Echols.
Mr. Adkins was born November 11, 1930 in Shelby County, KY. He was a Deacon at Colquitt First Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member and worker, Mr. Adkins was a graduate of Campbellsville Junior College in Campbellsville, KY, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY, and received his Masters Degree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. After retiring from teaching Mr. Adkins had a carpet business in Colquitt.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Adkins of Colquitt; one daughter, Joy Cutchins of Toccoa; two sons, David and daughter-in-law Lorena Adkins of San Diego, CA and Tim and daughter-in-law Teresa Adkins of Bainbridge; two brothers, Raymond Adkins of Harrodsburg, KY and Ted Adkins of Mitchellsburg, KY; two sisters, Alica Rentas of Perryville, KY and Callie Inman of Springfield, KY; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Paul Adkins in 1961.
