DEWITT KING

Dewitt King, 88, of Bainbridge, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at Memorial Manor.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 10, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Luther Hastey and Dr. Leroy Spinks officiating. Interment followed in Bethany Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tommy King, Danny Conyers, Larry Harrison, Augie Clayton, Al Clayton, Royce Cannington, Hugh David King, Todd Conyers, and Ronnie Rykard. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Ward, Herbert Boyd, Archie Duncan, Roy Harrison, Joe Nichols, and James Campbell.

Visitation is Thursday, December 9, 2004 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home.

Mr. King was born October 29, 1916 in Decatur County to the late Hugh S. and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Cloud King. He lived in Bainbridge all his life. He retired from Georgia Power after 40 years and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of VFW Post 4904; International Brotherhood of Electric Workers; Orion Lodge #8 F & AM; Master Sgt. with the 82nd Signal BTN World War II, Pacific Theater.

Survivors include his wife Florine Hart King of Bainbridge; Curtis and wife Vicki King of Americus; two sisters, Louise Conyers of Albany; Janet Limle of Pensacola, FL; one grandchild, Shannon and wife Deanna King of Sharpsburg; and three great-grandchildren.

Cox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

IRMA ESTELLE WHITE

Irma Estelle White, 79, of Chalmette, LA, formerly of Americus, died November 29, 2004 in Chalmette Medical Center in Chalmette, LA.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, December 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Baker County with Rev. Kent Barwick officiating.

Mrs. White was born January 31, 1925 in Thomas County. She worked in the Tax Appraiser’s Office in Sumter County and was a member of Chalmette Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jolynn Neal of Meraux, LA; and one great-grandchild, Trey Neal of Arabi, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.I. White, and one daughter, Cassaundra Gleaton.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

JAKIE SCOTT DRAPER

Jakie Scott Draper, 53, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at her residence.

A memorial services was held Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at
Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Scarborough officiating.

Mrs. Draper was born September 6, 1951 in Decatur to Scarborough Lee Scott and the late Rev Joseph J. Scott. She was a clerk for the City of Colquitt and was a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Draper of Colquitt; two daughters, Jody Hodges and son-in-law David of Leary, Samantha “Sam” Ard and son-in-law Steve of Colquitt; one son, Brandon Draper of Colquitt; his mother, Scarborough Lee Scott; one brother, Dan Scott of Bainbridge; three children, Kiley Harden, Hank Harden, and Chloe Ard.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CURTIS O. ROBINSON

Curtis O. Robinson, age 65, of Donalsonville passed away Monday, December 13, 2004 in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.
Funeral services was held Friday, December 17, 2004 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville with Father Guy Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Robinson Family Cemetery in Donalsonville.
Mr. Robinson was born in Seminole County on February 15, 1939 to the late Otho and Bunice Clark Robinson. After attending Seminole County High School, he moved to New Jersey and worked as a warehouseman for Coca-Cola before retiring and moving back to Donalsonville. He was a former member of the Elks Club and of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife Arline Jacobs Robinson of Donalsonville; two sons Cutis D. Robinson of Donalsonville and Marc Robinson of LittleFalls, NJ; three stepsons John and Colleen Santee of Clifon, NJ, David and Janet Santee of Totowa, NJ and Marc Santee of Patterson, NJ; six brothers Douglas Robinson of Haledon, NJ, Eddie W. Robinson of Hewitt, NJ, Lamar Robinson and Jimmy Robinson both of West Milford, NJ, J.T. Robinson of Tallahassee, FL and Ronnie Robinson of Ashville, NC; three sisters Myrtle Young of Donalsonville, Ann Stoller of Lakeland, FL and Cathy Lomineck of Eldorendo. Also survived by three grandchildren Kelly Robinson, Kristyn Santee and Kyle Santee. He was preceded in death by one brother Carlton Eugene Robinson. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CHARLES EDWARD ARNOLD

Charles Edward Arnold, age 77, of Donalsonville passed away Monday morning, Dec. 13, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Arnold was held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Jakin Baptist Church in Jakin with the Rev. Isom Hill and Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment followed in the Jakin City Cemetery.
Mr. Arnold was born in Seminole County on May 28, 1927 to the late Carter Smith and Sara Costella Snell Arnold. After graduating from Jakin High School, he served his country in the US Air Force. He retired from Carter Manufacturing, working as an assembly supervisor, was a mason and a member of Jakin Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Clyde Anglin Arnold of Donalsonville; two sons Kenneth Arnold and his wife Linda of Donalsonville and Stanley Arnold and his wife Joanne of Jakin; two sisters Molly Weisbach of Phoenix City, AL and Ruth Smithhart of Blakely; Also survived by three grandchildren Lindsey, Jordon and Ben Arnold. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother Cas Arnold, five sisters Ruby Malloy, Myrtle Cannon, Eva Cheshire, Kate Thomas and Francis Tharpe.
Pallbearers was Capt. Greg Parker, Jason McDonald, Jason Kolish, Ray Widner, Ron Arnold, and Norman Johnson. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

ZULA MARIE HOLLAND-NORTON

Zula “Sissy” Marie Holland-Norton, 46, of Woodville, FL, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, in Woodville, FL.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 19, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at her residence in Woodville, FL.

She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter.

Survivors include her mother, Zula Holland of Woodville, FL; her father, John Holland of Texas; her husband of 15 years, Kevin Norton of Woodville, FL; three daughters, Sandra Holland of Tallahassee, FL, Mary Norton and Maggie Norton, both of Woodville, FL; two brothers, John Holland and Tommy Holland, both of Tallahassee, FL; and two grandchildren.

Abbey-Riposta Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

JOHN F. CALHOUN, JR.

John F. Calhoun, Jr., 44, a native of Clarke County and resident of Spanish Fort, AL died at home Sunday, December 12, 2004, after a long term fight with ALS.
He was a member of Spanish Fort Methodist Church and was a supervisor with Cadbury-Adams, Inc. He was a graduate of Grove Hill Academy and Troy State University, where he was a member of the PiKappa Phi Fraternity.
Survivors are his parents; John and Elizabeth Calhoun of Grove Hill, AL, his wife Susan Cooper Calhoun; one son, Kyle Winters Calhoun of Auburn University and Spanish Fort, AL; one daughter, Katherine Mary Calhoun of Spanish Fort, AL; one sister, Patricia Garrick of Chatom, AL; 4 nieces and nephews; his mother and father-in-law, Tyner and Mary Jean Cooper of Blakely.

JAMES E. WHITE

Mr. James E. White, age 76 of Colquitt died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Miller Nursing Home.
Mr. White was born November 25, 1928, in Jackson County, FL. He was a welder and was of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Notchaway Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Crosson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Dee Potter and son-in-law, George, Albany; two sons, Harris White, Colquitt, Jim White and daughter-in-law, Joyce, Douglasville; four brothers, Charles White, Shellman, Earl White, Marianna, FL, Raymond White, Wayne White, Lake Worth, FL; two sisters, Barbara Adkins, Doris Donahue, Lake Worth, FL; three grandchildren, Bryan White, Jennifer Craddock, Laura White; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dot White.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CHLOE MOODY

Mrs. Chloe Moody, age 90 of Bainbridge died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Moody was born May 11, 1914.
Graveside services were held Friday, December 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Bellview Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. David Womack officiating.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LILLIAN INEZ POWELL

Mrs. Lillian Inez Powell, age 89 of Colquitt died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Miller Nursing Home.

Mrs. Powell was born February 12, 1915 in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 23 at 11:00 A.M. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Womack and Cory Thomas officiating. Interment followed at Whites Bridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Greg Calhoun, Richard Calhoun, Gregory Calhoun, Jeff Powell, Jule Powell, Gerry Grimsley, Anthony Cobb, and Garrett Powell.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Calhoun, Norma Hornsby, Colquitt; two sons, Ronnie Powell, Windell Powell, Colquitt; two brothers, Sidney Wells, Harry Wells, Colquitt; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a special caregiver, Sue Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her husband J.H. Powell in 2001.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

EFFIE H. JOHNSON

Effie H. Johnson, 88, of Colquitt, died Sunday, December 26, 2004 at Miller County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Whitaker and Rev. Jimmy Hooks officiating. Interment will follow in Blackjack Baptist Church Cemetery in Bainbridge.

Pallbearers are Larry Moore, Wayne Moore, Scott Moore, Jamie Johnson, Joey Cobb, and Cody Moore.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 29, 1916 in Miller County. She worked at Bainbridge State Hospital as a foster grandparent and also worked at Jack Winter Co. in Bainbridge. She was a homemaker and a member of the Blackjack Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Boshell and husband Jerry of Colquitt, Linda Cobb of Colquitt; two sons, Randy and wife Brenda Johnson of Brinson, Donald and wife Dana Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, James and sister-in-law Elizabeth Hooks of Bainbridge; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake E. Johnson, and one grandson, Christopher Cobb.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
