David Marshal Griffin, age 67 of Colquitt died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.
Mr. Griffin was born March 21, 1937 in Miller County. He was a member of Bellview Free Will Baptist Church and was a farmer. He was also a Army Veteran.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Johns and the Rev. Bobby Whitaker officiating. Interment followed in Bellview Free Will Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Mashburn, Montgomery, AL, Blaine Mathis, Colquitt, Donna Midge Brock, Bainbridge; one son, Daryl Griffin, Bainbridge; one brother, Eddie Griffin, Bainbridge; four sisters, Doris Davis, Colquitt, Nell Lane, Iron City, Syble Mils, Bainbridge; Zella Oquin, Brunswick; nine grandchidlren and one great-grandchild.

RUTH SINGLETARY
Ruth Singletary, 54, of Bainbridge, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 in Bainbridge.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 6, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Allen Ware officiating.
Mrs. Singletary was born on August 6, 1950 in Lanstule, Germany. She moved to Decatur County in 1981 from Columbus. She was the Financial Consultant at First Franklin & Citifinancial and was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Hannah Singletary and Carol Hill, both of Bainbridge; three brothers, Chester and Frank Ballenger of Clearwater, FL, and Mark Ballenger of Columbus; and one grandchild.

ETHELL ALFORD
Ethell Alford, 93, of Bainbridge, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 in Bainbridge.
Grave side funeral services were held Friday, February 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in West Bainbridge Cemetery with Rev. Dan Tomberlin officiating. Interment followed.
Mrs. Alford was born December 22, 1911 in Baker County, where she lived most of her life. She was a homemaker that loved to fish, cook and can. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Nell and husband Walter Sumner of Tallahassee, FL; one sister, Grace Ammons of Bainbridge; one nephew Terry Melton of Bainbridge; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Lon and Verdie Cook and her husband, the late Velma V. Alford.

TERRY RAY HARRISON
Terry Ray Harrison, age 43, of Donalsonville died Wednesday, February 8, 2005.
Terry was born in Seminole County on February 25, 1962 to the late Willie Ray and Marie Jackson Harrison. He worked at Harrell Equipment in Bainbridge before coming disabled and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Barineau officiating. Interement followed in Union Baptist Cemetery in Colquitt.
Pallbearers were Kenny Roberts, Kenneth West, Rusty Grimes, Jerry Coble, Tracey Hodges, and Ronnie Jackson.
Survivors include two sisters, Brenda and Nelson Coble, Donalsonville, Glenda and Ken Grimes, Bainbridge; three nieces, Dawn Richardson, Tracy and Kenneth West, Jennifer and Tracey Hodges; two nephews, Tony Richardson and Rusty Grimes; two great-nephews, Tyler Hodges and Hunter Hodges; two great -nieces, Candi Moran and Kendra West; one aunt, Rachel Key, Marianna, FL; and three uncles, Ralph Harrison, Foy Harrison and R.C. JUDY ADAMS
Mrs. Jeanette (Judy) Adams, 81, of Colquitt, passed away February 15, 2005 at Miller Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 18, 2005 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walter Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Duran Williams, Marvin Boyd, Joe Sheffield, Glen Lovering, Horace Lovering and Eric Enfinger.
Mrs. Adams was born January 11, 1924 in Early Co. She was a homemaker, a member of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, and has been a resident of the Miller Nursing Home for 18 years.
Survivors include two daughters, June Bush and son-in-law Billy of Colquitt, and Wanda Phillips of Bainbridge; one son, Douglas Adams and daughter-in-law Janet of Panama City, FL; four sisters, Marie Tabb and Helen Askew both of Colquitt, Hazel Tipton of Donalsonville, and Betty Marder of Bainbridge; two brothers, Bill Stuart of Houston, TX and Charles Stuart of Valdosta; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Adams, and one daughter, Donna Bedwell.

Mrs. Christine Powell, age 83, of Bainbridge died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
Mrs. Powell was born September 30, 1921 in Baker County. She was a homemaker and a member of County Line Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Dale Powell, Haywood Morris, Mark Bryars, Jeff Powell, Todd Powell, Ricky Roberts, and Brian Powell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey B. Powell.

WILLIAM LESLIE WIDNER
William Leslie Widner, 81, of Colquitt, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 25, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Aycock and Rev. John Bagwell officiating. Interment followed in Colquitt City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Holt, Jack Holt, Wade Everson, Wayne Weeks, David Brasewell, and Joe Sloan.
Mr. Widner was born July 1, 1923 in Miller County. He worked as a farmer and was a member of the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louvenia Widner of Colquitt; one daughter, Gail Thompson and husband Felix Lynwood of Blakely; three sons, Jerry Widner and wife Grace of Donalsonville, Broadus Widner of Juneau, AL, and Bobby Widner and wife Martha of Albany; one sister, Bessie Mercer of Forest Park; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

HENRY HARDEN
Henry Harden, 89, of Colquitt, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in Bainbridge Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Johns and Rev. Bob Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Bellview Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Harden, Wes Harden, Albert Harden Jr., David Harden, Little Phil Harden, and Dale Powell.
Mr. Harden was born January 20, 1916, worked as a farmer and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include four sons, Troy Harden, Phillip Harden, both of Colquitt, Steve Harden and wife Sandra, and Dave Harden and wife Tara, both of Camilla; one daughter, Nita Edmonds of Iron City; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Harden and one son, Albert Harden.

JAMES EDGAR KIRKLAND
James Edgar Kirkland, a resident of Abbeville, Ala., died Sunday afternoon, February 20, 2005, at Southeast Regional Hospital in Dothan, Ala. He was 71.
Graveside services with military honors were held at noon on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Abbeville. Reverend Ray S. Reiley, Reverend Ryan Minkler,and Mr. Olin Smith officiated. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kirkland was a native of Abbeville, Ala. He was the son of the late William Wilson Kirkland and the late Lucy Long Summerford Kirkland. He had served on the Henry County Commission and the Henry County Hospital Board. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an lifetime active member of Sardis Baptist Church, and he was a Master Mason. Mr. Kirkland was a graduate of the University of Alabama and was self-employed in the construction business.
James met his wife, the former Emogene Burnum Jarvis of Mitchell and Baker Counties in Ga., in the late 1980s. Both having been widowed, they met through mutual friends and contined their relationship, crossing the Georgia-Alabama state line countless times during their courtship. On Christmas of 1989, James proposed marriage to Emogene, and they were married on July 3, 2000, by the Reverend Ray S. Reiley in Abbeville, Ala. They made their home on the ancestral Kirkland farm in Henry County, Ala. Their families blended happily, and they believed their union was truly a gift from God.
He and his wife Emogene have been avid fans of the Atlanta Braves, the U. of Ala. Crimson Tide, and the UGA Bulldogs. James, along with his wife, was extremely devoted to their children and their grandchildren as well as to their church and community. They enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends and family.
James will be remembered as a true pillar of his community. He was hard-working, honest, and always ready to help others in any way that he could even as his health was declining. He believed whole-heartedly in helping worthwhile causes both monitarily and through volunteering his time and labor.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend, and Christian. He will be long remembered for his kindness and goodness of heart as well as his love for his fellow man.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Emogene Burnum Jarvis Kirkland, Abbeville; two sons, Michael Leondas Kirkland, New York City; Paris, France; and Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; Franklin Eugene “Frankie” Kirkland and his wife, Jerusha “Dru” Davis Kirkland, of Abbeville; a daughter, Rhonda Jarvis Pate and her husband, William C. “Billy” Pate of Albany, Ga.; three granddaughters, Katelyn Paige Kirkland of Abbeville, Stephanie Emilin Pate of Albany, Ga., and Julie Alison Pate of Valdosta, Ga. and Albany, Ga.; a brother, Charity William Kirkland and his wife Julie of Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Virginia Burnum Keeffe and her husband, Elmer C. Keeffe of Nashville, Ga.; and a host of relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Barnes, Malcolm Presley, Hershel Bedsole, John “Billy” Clenney, Bibb Price, John A. Robinson, and Wayne Sauls, all of Abbeville and William C. “Billy” Pate of Albany, Ga.

HATTIE MAE CRAWFORD TABB
Hattie Mae Crawford Tabb, 99, from Colquitt, died Monday, February 28, 2005, in Miller County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Walter Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Colquitt City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Robert LaDon Merritt III, Trey Tabb, Brett Tabb, Greg Grimsley, Felix Grimsley, Garrett Grimsley, Bob Lockhart, Al Lockhart, Mitchell Mock, Michael Mock, and Billy Rentz.
Mrs. Tabb was born May 22, 1905 in Decatur County. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, W. Felix Tabb Jr. and daughter-in-law Iva of Colquitt; three daughters, Merle Merritt and Joanne Grimsley, both of Colquitt, and Juanita Lockhart of Cussetta; 11 grandchildren, Billy Rentz, Gayle Manning, Marsha Mock, Bob Lockhart, Al Lockhart, Felicia McAleer, Trey Tabb, Brett Tabb, Greg Grimsley, Felix Grimsley, and Garrett Grimsley; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sheriff W.F. Tabb Sr.; two daughters, Geneva T. Durden and Margaret Rentz; two grandchildren, Robert LaDonne Merritt Jr. and Rebecca Rentz; and her parents, Whitaker and Miranda Crawford.

MARY SPOONER LYNN
Mary Spooner Lynn, 81, of Donalsonville, died Monday, February 28, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville with the Rev. Morgan Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tommy Alday, Joseph E. "Tudd" Alday, Jerry Godby, Lewis Godby, Dr. Charles A. Walker, Dr. Michael Hampton, and Roy Moulton Jr.
Mrs. Lynn was born in Seminole County on August 18, 1923 to the late Joseph Colquitt and Lola Widner Spooner. She was married to W.C. Lynn, who preceded her in death in September of 2001. Mrs. Lynn had lived in Seminole County all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Prebsyterian Church of Donalsonville.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Walker and husband Dr. Charles O. Walker, Kathy Fox and husband Melvin, all of Donalsonville; one brother, Don Spooner and wife Joanna of Donalsonville; four grandchildren, Dr. Charles A. Walker, Dr. Sarah Hampton, Dr. Josh Walker, and Kyla Fox; three great-grandchildren, Ben Hampton, Allyson Walker, and Tanner Walker; and one great-great-grandchild, Jase Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, W.C. Lynn, one brother, Carl Spooner Jr.; three sisters, Euna Gibson, Sybil Alday, and Louise Godby. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
NORMA J. DEAN
Mrs. Norma J. Dean, age 65 of Bainbridge died Monday, February 28, 2005, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Dean was born December 14, 1939 to Andrew Jefferosn Dunn and Mattie McCormick Dunn. She graduated from Miller County High School in 1958. She was a LPN at Memoril Manor Nursing Home and a member of First Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Jones and the Rev. Jeffrey Horne officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Andy Dunn, Todd Dunn, Joey Dunn, Jeffrey Horne, Patrick Horne, and Jeremy Horne.
Honorary pallbearers were Sam Dunn, Dwight Dunn, Wayne Dunn, Alex Dunn. and Payton Horne.
