ROSE NELL CROSS
Rose Nell Cross, 70, of Climax, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Freewill Baptist Church in Iron City with Dewitt Phillips and Lem Joiner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cross was born on October 4, 1934 in Seminole County to the late Blumer S. and Bedia Jane Roberts Stinson. She was a seamstress having worked for many years at Williams and Dickie Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Potter’s House Church in Bainbridge.
Survivors include her son, Buddy Sherrer and wife Kathy of Climax; three daughters, Charlotte Dubey and husband Harley of Orlando, FL; Melinda McConnell and husband Richard of Bainbridge, and Amanda Reffitt and husband Terry of Whigham; one sister, Bobbie J. Hart of Colquitt; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Brenda Ann Kirkland. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
IDA BELL DAVIS JOHNSON
Ida Bell Davis Johnson, of Blakely, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 3, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at Centerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Buren Womble and Rev. Jim Burgess officiating. Interment followed in Centerville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Lyn Pickle, Rhett Pickle, Heath Day, Eddie Brownlee, Michael Brownlee, Scott Brownlee, Terry Johnson, and David Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Miller County, where she lived all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Centerville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include, one son, David Johnson, Sr. of Blakely; two daughters, Patricia and husband Barney Brownlee of Blakely, Eugenia J. Pickle of Adel; one sister, Loyce Davis Reagan of Donalsonville; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Sheffield Davis and Ida Myrtle Womble Davis; and her husband, Samuel Rhoe Johnson, Jr.

ALMA S. NORRIS
Alma S. Norris, 64, of Tallahassee, FL, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel with Chaplin Scott Smallwood officiating. Interment followed in West Bainbridge Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Pallbearers were Tal Mann, Buddy Garrison, Michael Mann, Matthew Mann, Kirk Kirkland, and Jerry Mixon.
Ms. Norris was born July 15, 1940 in Leon County, FL. She was an Administrative Assistant for the state of Florida.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca B. and husband Tal Mann and Debra B. and husband Buddy Garrison, both of Tallahassee, FL, and Cathy Caamano and husband Bob of Atlanta; one sister, Trudie J. Mixon of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Capt. Richard Stout of Cross Hill, SC; four grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Mann, Carrow Garrison and Sara Smith; one great grandchild, Rachael Smith; and her parents, Arthur B. and Catherine K. Stout.
She was preceded in death by her parent, Trudie Kinsey Stout and her husband, Earnest Norris.

BETTY JANE JOINER SHEDD
Betty Jane Joiner Shedd, 65, of Donalsonville, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Boomer officiating. Interment followed in the Oakview Church of God Cemetery.
Ms. Shedd was born in Seminole County on November 4, 1939 to the late Joseph F. and Daisy Hartzog Joiner. She graduated from Seminole County High School in 1957. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at Greene Poultry since 1991.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori J. Shedd of Iron City; one son, William Stanley Shedd of Donalsonville; three sisters, Pat Temples and Myrtle Drake of Donalsonville and Lorene Simpson of Jonesboro; one brother, Thomas Joiner of Iron City; three grandchildren, Rocky Smith, William David Smith Jr., and April Chase; and two great grandchildren, William David Smith Jr. and Daisy Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Greene. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
EDDIE LOU CHAMBERS
Mrs. Eddie Lou Chambers, age 100 of Colquitt died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Miller County Hospital.
Mrs. Chambers was born October 31, 1904 in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at New Home Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, April 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Roberts, Bobby Roberts, Don Roberts, Wendell Cox, Buddy Roberts, Larry Ard, and John Ivey Davis.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Chambers, Iron City, J.T. Chambers, Eatonton; one daughter, Hazel Ard, Albany; one daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Chambers, Riverdale; one sister-in-law, Ruby Roberts, Iron City; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Chambers, one son, Curtis Chambers, and one daughter, Vernice Braswell.

LOWELL FRANCIS ROGERS
Lowell Francis Rogers, age 72, of Donalsonville, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Rogers was held on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 2:00 at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Jones and Rev. Jerry Stone officiating. Interment followed in Houston Cemetery in Miller County.
Mr. Rogers was born in Eagle River, WI on September 29, 1932 to the late William John Joseph and Beulah Elise Streeter Rogers. A retired punch press Operator with S & C Electric. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved here from Chicago several years ago and was a member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Emma Edna Houston Rogers; one daughter Cathy Knight both of Donalsonville; two grandsons Andrew Thomas Knight and Daniel James Knight of Palatime, IL; two sisters Reva Kalous of Eagle River, WI and Delores Wardell of Smithville, IL; one brother Daniel Rogers of Eagle River, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Active pallbearers will be Floyd Marmon, Carl Peterson, Leonard Bridges, George Bates, Russell Lewis and Carlton Bridges. The Deacons of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church of Donalsonville served as honorary pallbearers. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
DANNY RAY GRUBBS
Danny Ray Grubbs, 48, of the Eldorendo Community, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Grubbs and Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jacky Grubbs, Joe Grubbs, Marion Grubbs, Bobby Grubbs, Donald Grubbs, Henry Williams, Rawleigh Furney, Pete Tufts, and Dr. Sydney Cochran.
Honorary pallbearers were all his nephews and the men of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Grubbs was born December 8, 1956 in Decatur County. He was a partner of Eldorendo Auto Sales and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his children and family. He was the song leader on Sunday morning church service at Bainbridge Health Care. He was also a Sunday School teacher for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Matthews Grubbs of Eldorendo Community; one daughter, Christy Grubbs of Eldorendo Community; one son, Danny Ray Grubbs Jr. of Eldorendo Community; three sisters, Debra Mills of Bainbridge, Mary Williams of Blakely, Rita Furney of Eldorendo Community; six brothers, Marion, Bobby, Jacky, Joe Grubbs, all of Eldorendo Community, Rev. David Grubbs, of Attapulgus, Donald Grubbs of Geneva, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Brown Grubbs Sr. and Mrs. Mattie Lewis Grubbs Cato, of Bainbridge.

RUFUS DUKES
Rufus Dukes, 91, of Bainbridge, died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Memorial Manor.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Whittaker and Rev. Neil Moore Sr. officiating. Interment followed in Brinson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Buddy Wisham, Buddy Dukes Jr., Chris Dukes, Billy Evans, William Mathis, and Neil Ray Moore Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were John Bridges Sr., Harvey King, Ed Mitchell, and James Mitchell.
Mr. Dukes was born April 1, 1914 in Miller County, but lived in Decatur County most of his life. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Highway Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the formerly Odd Fellows and Deacon Highway Freewill Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley “Buddy” Dukes of Bainbridge, Rufus “Doc” Dukes of Brinson; two daughters, Mary Frances Wisham of Dover, FL and Dorothy Wynette Cox of Brinson; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Gilford and Josephine Daniels Dukes; and his wife, the late Inez Lovering Dukes.

MARY ELIZABETH SHEFFIELD
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sheffield, 85, of Colquitt passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Miller County Hospital. The funeral was held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 22, 2005 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Matt Sheffield, Michael Sheffield, Christopher Sheffield, Samuel Sheffield, Carl Long Jr., and Sam Pickron will serve as pallbearers. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sheffield was born May 3, 1919 in Decatur Co. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist Faith.
She is survived by her husband, E Marvin Sheffield of Colquitt, GA, two sons & daughters-in-laws, Ernie M. & Susan Sheffield and Danny B. & LeeAnne Sheffield, both of Colquitt; one sister, Della Dollar of Loveland, OH; and seven grandchildren, Matt Sheffield & granddaughter-in-law Megan, Michael Sheffield, Christopher Sheffield, Samuel Sheffield, Matthew Brooks, William Brooks, and Danielle Sheffield.
