Leslie Anne Jones Brannen
Leslie Anne Jones Brannen, 30, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was born in Montgomery County, Al., and had lived in Metter for the past 10 years. She was an accountant with Dabbs, Hickman, Hill and Cannon, CPA, in Statesboro and formerly worked for the State Department of Banking and Finance as a bank examiner. A member of Church of Christ in Metter, she loved antique shopping.
She is survived by her husband, Travis Brannen; a son, Jameson Chase Brannen; a daughter, Lindsey Regan Brannen; her parents, Carl and Sarah Jones, all of Metter; and a brother, Britt Jones of Statesboro. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in Lake Cemetery. Ministers Erman Hager and Lamar Way officiated.
Pallbearers were Ricky Dekle, Grover Bragg, Michael Waters, Chad Williams and Lamar Way.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Leslie Anne Brannen Memorial Children’s Trust Fund, Sea Island Bank of Metter and Statesboro.

Stella Vaughn
Stella Vaughn, 76, of Garden City died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah Home Care. She was born in Livingston Co., LA and moved to Savannah in 1966 from Charleston. She was a homemaker and a member of the nondenominational Church. She was the widow of Carl Inman Vaughn.
She is survived by a son, Charles Vaughn of Garden City; a daughter, Mary Carter of Savannah; two brothers, Gordon Patterson and Vernon Patterson, both of Springfield, LA; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily, Charles and Matthew Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with ministers Robert Flippo and Grace O’Keefe officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Walter D. Campbell
Walter D. Campbell Sr. 81, of Pompano Beach, Fl., died Feb. 6, 2004, at Vitas Hospice of Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Fl.
The Candler County native was the son of the late Charlie and Fannie Campbell. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Pompano Beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Precious Doll Campbell; his ex-wife, Estella Campbell; five sons, Walter Campbell, Lemmi Campbell, Alfred Campbell, Bobby Parker and Waldo Parker; two brothers, Joseph Campbell and Charlie Campbell; and a sister, Dorothy Harper.
He is survived by six sons, Kenneth Parker of Newark, N.J., Donnie Campbell, Dale Campbell and Andrew Campbell, all of Pompano Beach, Fl., Larry Campbell of Atlantic Beach, Fl., and Lavale Campbell of East Point; eight daughters, Dorothy Atkins of Stone Mountain, Sheila Sanford and Shirley Smalls, both of Atlantic Beach, Fl., Jennette Fields of Riverdale, Ann Parker of Pompano Beach, Fl., Debra K. Meridy of Metter, Peggy Terrell of Hallandale, Fl., and Gloria Parker of Atlanta; a brother, Albert Campbell of Starke, Fl.; a sister, Irish Rose Kennedy of Jacksonville Beach, Fl.; 44 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Also mourning his passing is the Gordon Collins family of Cobbtown.

David Henry Roucoulet
David Henry Roucoulet, 31, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
The Miami, Fl., native moved to Metter in 1999 from Horseshoe Bend, Ark. He was a subcontractor with Hiser Tile and Marble and attended Open Door Worship Center. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the Miami Dolphins. He was predeceased by his mother, Rita Mae Howard Smith and a sister, Grace Roucoulet.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Selby Roucoulet of Metter; his father, Sonny Roucoulet of Michigan; his step-father, Matthew Smith Sr. of Metter; brothers, William Roucoulet of Buford, S.C., Robert Roucoulet of Indianapolis, In., Paul Murray of Miami, Fl., Travis Smith and Mathew Smith Jr., both of Metter; sisters, Linda Roucoulet of Miami, Fl., Ashley Kinney and Jasmine Smith, both of Metter; and his paternal grandparents, Carol and Daryl Williams and Bob Smith.
Memorial services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Open Door Worship Center with the Rev. Ray Woodcock officiating.

James Raymond Fulmer
James Raymond Fulmer, 69, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his home.
The Emanuel County native and lifelong resident served in the U.S. Marines and was a carpenter. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jameson Theo Fulmer.
He is survived by eight children, Allen Fulmer of Twin City, Linda Fulmer of Garfield, Patti F. Murphy of Eatonton, Nancy F. Ridgdill, Sherry F. Rich, Chris Fulmer and Mike Fulmer, all of Twin City, and Dale Fulmer of Statesboro; a step-son, Robert Faby; a brother, Carlton Fulmer of Florida; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in Fulmer Cemetery. The Rev. Donna Ashworth and the Rev. Charles Beasley officiated. His sons served as pallbearers, while grandsons were honorary pallbearers.

James Edenfield
James Edenfield, 61, of Metter died Thursday, February 12, 2004, at his home. The Chatham Co. native moved to Metter eight years ago. He was a self-employed mechanic and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by a son, James Leroy Edenfield Jr. of Metter; two daughters, Teresa Marie Roach of Savannah and Michelle Lynette Carmichael of Metter; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Candy Ruth Nelson
Candy Ruth Nelson, 42, of Twin City died Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at her residence. Her parents, Samuel Mack Jr. and Susie Mae Daniels preceded her in death. She attended school at Emanuel County Institute in Twin City.
Survivors are one daughter, Suzetta M. Mack of Twin City; one brother, Larry Manley of West Virginia; and one sister, Arlean Brown of Twin city.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, at God’s Holy Tabernacle in Twin City with burial in the city cemetery. Pastor Amos Handsom Jr. officiated.

Glen Sherd
Glen Sherd, 64, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah.
She was a native of Candler County and resided in Tattnall County for the past six months. She was a member of Simmons Temple in Collins.
She is survived by six sons, Albert Thomas, James Thomas and Ricky Sherd, all of Metter, Terry Phillips of Atlanta, Shannon Thomas of Nashville, N.C., and Eddie Sherd of Savannah; three daughters, Mary Lois Simpson of Hinesville, Christine Patterson of Newton and Shirley Dickerson of Metter; two brothers, Wilbert Sherd of Metter and M. C. Sherd of Collins; four sisters, Lula Jo Jenkins of Cobbtown, Sina Mae Jackson and Ella Mae James, both of Claxton, and Catherine Sherd of Reidsville; 23 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at W. H. Whitaker Memorial Chapel, Whitaker Funeral Home, with burial at Steep Hill Baptist Church in Cobbtown. Wake service will be from 7 - 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the W. H. Whitaker Memorial Chapel.

Jim Parker
Jim Parker, 65, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at Candler County Hospital. He was born in Screven County and lived in Cobbtown for the past 33 years. He was a former county agent in Clayton, Talbot and Upson counties, a farmer and owner of Village Pizza in Metter for the past year. He was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Dunham Parker of Cobbtown; one son, Phillip Parker, of Cobbtown; one daughter, Phyllis Fitzpatrick of St. Cloud, FL; one brother, Glenn Parker of Sylvania; five sisters, Linda Lamontagne, Sue Robbins, Vicky Hudgins, all of Sylvania, Barbara Brush of Virginia and Becky Scott of Statesboro; two grandchildren, Samantha Parker and James Phillip Parker.
Pallbearers were M.H. Robbins, Todd Waters, Brian Akins, John Robbins, George Powell and Danny Humphrey.
Funeral services were Thursday, at 2 p.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Tony Smith and Rev. Jonine Northrup officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Screven County.

James Van Tillman
James Van Tillman, 65, died Monday night, February 23, 2004, at the Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. The native of Bibb County lived most of his life in Statesboro. Upon graduating from Statesboro High School, he attended Georgia Southern College. He farmed several years in the Register community and was active in civic affairs in Bulloch County. He was a retired agri-businessman, cattle rancher and former owner-operator of Bulloch Stockyard. He was of the Baptist faith. His parents, Julian V. and Mae Collins Tillman preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Vanee T. and Allen Blanchette of Statesboro and Cheri T. and Jamie Kirby of Louisville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Jake A. Futch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Eastside Cemetery.

Jeanette Findley Leverett
Jeanette Findley Leverett, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Lake Crossing Health Center in Appling.
She was born in Emanuel County and lived most of her life in Metter. She retired from Candler County Board of Education, working in the lunchroom at Metter Elementary School. She also worked at Metter Floral Shop and loved to cook and garden. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was the widow of Fred Leverett.
She is survived by a son, Wayne Leverett of Metter; daughters, Wanda Leverett of Statesboro and Trish Leynes of Augusta; a step-son, Charles Leverett of Savannah; a step-daughter, Ann Clark of Zephyrhills, Fl.; sisters Wylon Heath of Vidalia and Loretta Powell of Lyons; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in Lake Cemetery. Elder John Sheldon Mikell officiated.
Pallbearers were JoJo Rivenbark, Dustin Rigdon, Joey Dykes, Buie Leverett, David Lamb and Jimmy Ray Parker.

Lucile Moore
Lucile Williams Moore, wife for 49 years to the late James L. ‘Buster’ Moore, died at Rosemont Nursing Home on Feb. 25, 2004, after living in Twin City for 57 years.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda M. and Richard Jones, June M. and Ray Roberson, Scarlet M. and Chris Smith and Terrie Moore and Dennis Kindig; six grandchildren and spouses, Heath and Andrea Simmons, Rachel and Will Strong, April and Rhett Roberson, Christopher Diamond and Briana Kindig; and a great-grandchild, Baela Lucile Strong; brothers Clyde Williams of Millen and Floyd Williams of Jacksonville, Fl.; and sister Geraldine Grubbs of Augusta and Mary Elizabeth Lanier of Metter.
Funeral services were held at Twin City First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Inman Gerrald and the Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemtery in Twin City.
Pallbearers were Michael Williams, Kenny Williams, Jerry Edenfield, Gerald Whitfield, Sammy Jones, Gary Diamond, Johnson Turner and John Bell. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Edenfield, Toby Wells, Gene Simmons, Homer Moxley, Luther Bell, Walter Edward Chance, and Randolph Carlisle.

Dan Franklin Faircloth
Dan Franklin Faircloth, 46, died Sunday, February 29, 2004 at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Augusta and lived all his life in Candler Co. He was a former Metter police officer for 18 years having attained the rank of Lieutenant and was the first DARE officer for Metter. He was currently domestic violence assessor for Safe Haven and a member of the Cedar Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by half brothers, Billy Faircloth of Metter and Jerry Faircloth of Dublin; one half-sister, Edna P. Lanier of Metter; an aunt, Thelma Brown of Metter; an uncle, Jr. Brown of Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be H.V. Lanier, Roy Curl, Karon Driggers, Calvin Walker, Cedric Kirkland, Gene Sherman, Jamey O’Brien, Arthur Miles, Earl Carroll, Allan Hadden, Daniel Moxley, Roger Moore, John Allen Smith, Bobby Faircloth, and Brian Dixon.
Funeral services will be Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Rosemary Cemetery.
