Kenneth B. Hairston
Kenneth B. Hairston, 77, of Eatonton, Ga. died Monday, November 29, 2004. He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Hairston and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Hairston; daughters, Cheryl Thompson of Snellville, Judy Long of Greensboro, Ga.; son, David K. Hairston of Eatonton; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren.
Mr. Hairston was a retired business man, who spent 30 years in the Automotive Industry.
Memorial services were held Friday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at Wages Snellville Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Cline officiating. Interment was in North Atlanta Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday night at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers make donations to the Atlanta Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd., Suite 10, Atlanta, Ga. 30345, in memory of Kenneth B. Hairston.

Julia Smith Marsh Jenkins
Mrs.. JuILia Smith Marsh Jenkins, age 106, of 421 North Madison Avenue in Eatonton died Wednesday December 1 in the Putnam General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday December 6 in the Eatonton Baptist Church- The Rev. William Kitchens will officiate with burial in the Eatonton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Tennille, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Elmore Marsh and the late Sarah Lavinia Smith Marsh. Julia was born October 20, 1898 and was the eldest of five children. Julia graduated in 1920 from Shorter College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.. She attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York for two years of graduate study in Normal Art and then she taught two years in Kansas City, Missouri. She returned to New York and got a temporary job with AT & T. Her temporary job became permanent and she continued with AT & T until her retirement in 1958. She began her job as a file clerk and retired as the editor of “The Telephone Pioneer”, an in house journal of the company and distributed to Pioneer Chapters in the Bell Telephone System in the U. S. and Canada.
She married Franklin Robert Jenkins in 1942 and they moved to Eatonton in 1958 and became members of the First Baptist Church in 1958. Julia found her artistic outlet in doing many pen and ink drawings of many of the historical buildings and churches of Eatonton and scenes from the sea. She was an independent Southern lady who enjoyed life and her friends.
She was. preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Marsh and Anne Bevier Marsh Vance of Tennille, a brother, James Elmore Marsh and a nephew, Don Wesley Marsh-
Survivors are a brother, Charles Eltinge Marsh of Burleson, Texas, nieces, Sarah Jane Marsh, Linda Marsh Haas and Sally Brittain Lewis, nephews Jim Marsh, James W. Brittain, Jr., four grand nieces, Donna Lynn Haas Elder, Cberly Joe Haas Coursey, Julia Anne Phelps Steger, Sharon Mychelle Phelps Eubanks, three great grand nieces and three great grand nephews.

Deacon Lewis Terrell Lawrence
Deacon Lewis (June) Terrell Lawrence, 73, of Greensboro, Ga. died Tuesday, November 16, 2004. Services were held at Zion Wrightsville Baptist Church in Greensboro, Georgia with the Rev. Keith Richardson officiating and the Rev. Willie Blockum and the Rev. Terry Dorsey assisting. Interment was in Zion Wrightsville Cemetery.
June as he was affectionately called was born August 2, 1931 to the late Ethel Lawrence Mathis and Lewis Terrell. He was raised in the home of his grandmother and grandfather the late Austin and MaryLou Lawrence. One brother J.D. Terrell preceded him in death. He was married to the late Deloris Gresham Lawrence.
He was educated in the Greene County Public Schools System, he served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of Zion Wrightsville Baptist Church, Jefferson Sun #242 Masonic lodge, Eatonton. He served on the Deacon Board and Brother & Sister of Benevolent Society, a retired truck driver and was a bailiff for the Greene County Sheriff Department.
Survivors include: eight children, daughters: Lisa (Johnny) Ellison, Miami, FL.; Victoria (Lamar) Chester, Siloam, Ga.; Darlene (Stephen) Greene, White Plains, Ga.; Audra (Reginald) Long, Greensboro, Ga.; sons: Terry Lewis (Carolyn) Lawrence, San Diego, Ca.; Christopher Williams, Atlanta, Ga.; Taurus (Shaerika) Robbins, Atlanta, Ga. and Victor Hall, Atlanta; stepchildren: Thelma Delton Thomas, Rex, Ga.; Sharetta Sarden, Washington, Ga. and Wallace Sarden, Greensboro, Ga.; sisters: Bessie (Bernard) Washington, Cleveland, Ohio; Lillie Belle Hargrove, Bertha (Otis) Bundrage, Eatonton and Dorothy and Anna Marion, Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers; Columbus Scott, East Point, Willie Lewis and Houston Terrell, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dorsie Yates Phillips
Mrs. Dorsie Yates Phillips, 86, of Route 1, Soperton died Friday, November 26.
Services will be held in Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 28. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips grew up in Treutien County and lived in Eatonton 18 years before returning to Treutlen County in 1973. She was a daughter of the late Rufus and Doshia Holton Yates. She was married to the late Alton ‘Peck” Phillips, and was a member of the Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church, Treutlen County.
Survivors include two Sons and daughters-in-law, Benny R. “Ben” and Mary T. Phillips, Marietta; Tim and Jan S. Phillips, Douglas; a sister, Myrtice Phillips, Covena; four grandchildren, Cindy Phillips and Beth Phillips, Valdosta; Michelle Phillips and Jessica Phillips, Douglas; a greatgrandson, Keegan D. Smith, Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Jeffery Lynn Hunter
Mr. Jeffery Lynn Hunter, age 44, of Eatonton died Friday, December 31, 2004. Jeffery was a loving father of 2 daughters and a veteran of the United States Army.
A memorial service will be conducted at the American Legion at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2005; fellowshipping will also follow the service.
Francis B. Anthony
Mr. Francis B. Anthony, 84, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at his residence in Perry after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Fred and Maude Anthony. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Arthur Anthony; twin daughters Denise Uscfof and Debra Furhman of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; siblings, June Elder of Flagler Beach, Fl. and Bennie Heard and Josh Anthony of Center; four stepchildren, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Anthony graduated from Benton High School in 1939 and Habersham College in Clarkston. After serving in World War II he spent most of his productive years in Miami, Fl. working for the Federal Housing Authority. On returning to Georgia he worked for GRFA in Milledgeville and Horton Homes.
There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 at the Center United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends. Graveside services will be held immediately following, Bobby Anthony officiating.

Aretha Mae Harris-Jackson
Funeral services for Mrs. Aretha Mae Harris-Jackson, 90, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2004 in Atlanta were held Saturday afternoon, January 1, 2005. Services were held at Union Baptist Church with Elder Jessie Porter, Pastor Michael Dennis, and the Rev. Timothy Thompkins officiating and Evangelist Lancy Allen and Evangelist Shelia Davis assisting. Pallbearers and flower bearers were Mrs. Harris-Jackson’s grandchildren. Burial followed in East Eatonton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris-Jackson was a native of Jacksonville, Fla. but later moved to Eatonton. At an early age she joined Crossroads AME Church. She was once married to Sam Harris; to this union three daughters were born. She later was married to the late Rev. J. W. Jackson. She moved to Conyers where she served on the Mother board at Macedonia Baptist Church.
For many years she spread the Word of God through singing and playing the guitar. During the 1960’s Aretha, along with daughters Rachael and Beulah Mae Solomon, and grandchildren, formed the Imperia Gospel Singers. They could be heard on local radio stations through the Georgia area.
Sister Aretha Jackson truly loved the Lord and could always be found singing around family, friends and churches about the goodness of God.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mollie Clark-Smith of Opalocka, Fl. and Izetta Dennis of Atlanta; 14 grandchildren including Larry Brown (Effie) of Greensboro and Marie Brown- Lumpkin (Wesley) of Snellville, whom she raised; fourteen great-grandchildren and eleven great- great grandchildren, and a host of great nieces and nephews.

William Charles Blount
Mr. William Charles Blount, 55, 201 Imperial Mill Rd., Eatonton died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. J. Emory Lindsey officiated with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.
Mr. Blount was a native of Washington County, the son of the late Thomas Walstein Blount and the late Edna Gill Blount. He was a supervisor for the Wellington Leisure Products Company in Eatonton. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his children, Theresa Alewine of Thompson, Linda Osborne, Curtis Blount, and Laura Smith all of Tennille, Casey Blount and Vicki Blount of Eatonton, Bradley Blount and Bruce Blount of Gainesville, sisters and brothers, James W. Booth of Dalton, Thomas Dean Blount, Faye Welch and Jean Boone all of Tennille, and Larry Blount of Havannah, Florida.
Pallbearers were Norman Wilmoth, Ranzie Carroll, Rick Morale, Raymond Garner, Kenny Everett and Perry Smith.

Ezell Clark, Sr.
Mr. Ezell Clark, Sr., died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, after an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 26, 1937 in Eatonton to the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Eugene Clark, Mr. Ezell Clark, Sr. joined Bethel AME Church at an early age. He retired in 2000 after 13 years as a faithful employee from Wellington in Eatonton.
Survivors include wife: Annie Barnes, mother, Magnolia Clark of Eatonton, children: Mozell (Stanley) Pounds, Patricia (William) Hudsun, Edward Clark, Julia Clark of Eatonton, Ezell (Maria) Clark, Jr. of Conyers, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.
Frances Johnson
Mrs. Frances Fuller Mann Johnson, of College Park, died Friday, December 24, 2004. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28 in the Carmichael-Hemperley Chapel. Interment was in Forest Hills.
She was a member of Enon First Baptist Church, College Park and also a member at Marshall Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include: sons, Robert (Danny) and Carolyn Mann, Eatonton; Johnnie and Frankie Johnson, Marietta; daughter, Patricia and Ronnie Cates, Marietta; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Crutchfield, College Park. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her parents and six sisters. She was preeded in death by her husband Jonnie B. Johnson.
