Anna Sophia Dudziak Crowley, 83, of Eatonton, Ga. died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel on Monday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fernando Molina-Restrepo officiating. Interment at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
The Chicago, Illinois native was born May 26, 1921 to Joseph Dudziak and Sophia Jarzabek, she was married to Verne Anthony Crowley. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Laura Shouse of Alpharetta, son, Michael W. Crowley of Eatonton, brother, Chester Dudziak of Joplin, MO, sisters, Frances Gross of Oak Forrest and Emily Merritello of Waveland, MS, grandchildren, Shane Doss, Rodney Mykisen, Michael J. Crowley, Scott Crowley and Steve Crowley.

Margaret Hooks
Margaret McFarland Hooks, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 in an Eatonton Hospital. Funeral services were held at Williams Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. Interment was at Memory Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hooks was a lifelong resident of Baldwin County, she was retired from the Ga. Dept. of Corrections, and was the widow of the late Eulas Harold Hooks. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Eulas “Buddy” Hooks and Jimmy Hooks.
Survivors include: daughter, Sandra H. Branch of Eatonton, grandchildren, Jerry Batchelor, Jim Hooks, Jr., Tammy Branch and Melissa Rusk all of Eatonton, Newton Hooks of Buckhead, Christy Waldroup of Monroe, Christy Edge of Hawkinsville, eleven great-grandchildren.

Brenda Ruth Williams
Funeral services for Brenda Ruth Williams, 41, were held Saturday morning, Jan. 22 who passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 in an Athens Hospital.
Services were held at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. R.C. Lockhard officiating and evangelist Oris Farley assisting. Burial was followed in East Eatonton Cemetery.
Ms. Williams was a native and life long resident of Putnam County. She was educated in the Putnam county School System and a 1981 graduate of Putnam County High. She was employed at Eatonton Health Care.
Survivors include her parents, Moses and Mary Williams of Eatonton; fiancé, Ronald Harper of Eatonton; four children: Saressa Williams, Wykeshia Powell, Biana Harper and Zakyrah Harper, all of Eatonton; two brothers, Ronny Williams of Eatonton and Charles Wiliams of Wiesbaden, Germany; two sisters, Marlene Williams, Gloria Williams both of Eatonton; three nieces: Akkeiiah Brown, JaQuana Pinkney and Quanterykah Quarterman; all of Eatonton; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
Pallbearer and flower bearers were family and friends.

Ulysses Rice
Ulysses Rice, 80, of 302 Thompkins Street, Eatonton, Ga. died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services are being held at St. John AME Church Thursday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. R.B. Bass officiating. Interment will be in Eatonton City Cemetery.
The Eatonton native was born Aug. 6, 1924 to the late Annie Dennis Adams.
Mr. Rice was a life-long resident of Putnam County, a Funeral Director, served on the Eatonton City Council for 29 years. He was a member of St. John AME Church, Putnam Arts Foundation, and was Advisor to Magnificent Club.
Survivors include: sisters, Theodore Adams Wynn of Boston and Adella Adams Ruff of Chicago, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers were the Eatonton City Council members.
Honorary pallbearers were: Rudy Wynn, Lester Adams, Reuben Adams, R. (Dickey) Adams, Lewis Bly, J. Hick Griffin, Terrence Harden, Forester Waller, Harry Reid, Rev. Charles Dunn, Rufus Wesley, Chief Kent Lawrence.

Bert Eugene Bowen
Bert E. Bowen, 58, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005 at his home in Lake Wildwood, Macon. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 at Evergreen Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bowen was born in West Palm Beach, FL in 1946; he would have been 59 years old in March. He came to Warner Robins in 1950 and lived in this area all of his life. He was part of the first graduating class from Northside High School. He retired as a Georgia State Correction Officer. Bert was in the National Guard and a certified fire fighter of the Crooked Creek Fire Department of Eatonton, Ga. He had many hobbies such as hunting, horses, guns and fishing; somehow he always knew just how to fix everyone’s fishing pole to be able to catch the biggest fish. Bert was always proud to be named after his father’s pilot and co-pilot from World War II. He was of Baptist faith and a former member of Second Baptist Church. His brother, Vernon C. Bowen, preceded him in death.

William Douglas Morrow
A celebration of the life of Mr. William D. Morrow was held on Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 1 p.m. at his home, 106 Glad Cove, Eatonton, Georgia. William D. Morrow, 78, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, just one day after his 53rd wedding anniversary to wife Betty Rose Wilcox Morrow. He was born in Chester, S.C., on May 21, 1926, the son of Ann Helms and Ben Osgood Morrow. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War and a teacher and coach at DeKalb College. He retired from DeKalb College following a lifetime of coaching and teaching, his positive attitude influencing everyone around him. His life was an example of commitment, servitude and love. He leaves behind wife Betty Morrow of Eatonton, daughters, Marilynn Toon of Woodstock, Ga., Marian Morrow and grandchildren Geoff, Jared and Andrew Toon. Faye H. Long
Faye H. Long, 75, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 in Houston County Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gary Berrier officiating. Mrs. Long, wife of the late Thomas N. Long, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee the daughter of the late W.O. and Pirnal Ryall Hogan. She had lived in this area that past thirty years and was retired from Robins Air Force Base. Mrs. Long was an accomplished musician and taught piano for many years. She had served several area churches as pianist, as well as, Gospel Conventions, Quartets and local Gospel Sings. Mrs. Long was a member of Macon Evangelistic Church where she served as organist. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Jackson of Eatonton and Mrs. Patricia Strayhorn, Acworth; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great nephews. John T. Nelson, Jr.
John T. Nelson, Jr. of Eatonton passed Sunday, January 30, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Pinkerton Grove Baptist Church, Eatonton. Interment Eatonton City Cemetery with Pastor Willie C. Jones officiating, assisted by others. He was born on August 19, 1943 to the parentage of the late John Nelson, Sr. and Lue Emma Nelson. Mr. Nelson was well known and loved hy everyone. He joined Pinkerton Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Butler Baker High School in 1961, and was employed by J.P. Stephens Manufacturer and Horton Homes. He was a jack of all trades until his health began to fail. Also, he was a member of the Home Union Lodge. He leaves to mourn his passing: four daughters; Jennifer (Joe) Gordon, Sabrina (Larry) Nelson. Natasha Nelson, and Likima Nelson all of Eatonton, five sons: Lonnie (Jackie) Nelson, James Nelson, Kent Nelson, Keith Farley, and John Lewis Buckner all of Eatonton, one sister: Lue Ella Farley, two brothers: Lonnie Nelson and Calvin (Holly) Nelson all of Eatonton, eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, one dear friend Claude “Buddy” Stubbs. Mamie Landreth Weaver
Mamie Landreth Weaver, age 82, of Greensboro, GA died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point, GA. Born in the mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina on March 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James Landreth and Elizabeth Miller Landreth. During her working career she was a hairdresser known as “mother confessor” to all of her customers. After her husband passed away in 1977, she stayed in Fayetteville, NC and traveled with her friends known as “the girls”. One of her favorite trips was to Ireland. As her health declined she moved to Eatonton, GA in 1987 to be close to her daughter, Pat, son-in-law, Andy and her grandchildren, Bryan and Dawn. She joined Walker United Methodist Church in 1990 and continued to be an active member until her health prevented her from attending. She then moved to Willow Run Retirement home where she made many friends with the residents and staff. She enjoyed bingo, music groups that visited, bible study groups and leaving to visit with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Jennings Weaver. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Nash and husband Andy of eatonton, GA; a sister, Reba Hart of Texas; a granddaughter, Dawn Sinclair of Spartanburg, SC; a grandson, Bryan Nash of Ellijay, GA; two great-grandchildren, Nash Sinclair and Joey Nickerson and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb/ 8 at 1 p.m. at Walker United Methodist Church of Greensboro with the Rev. Ferris Hardin officiating. Linda J. Stafford Scheller, 49, of 155 Reid Drive, Eatonton died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at her residence. Memorial services were held at the First Independent Methodist Church on Monday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Smith officiating. The Oklahoma City, OK native was born a Aug. 5, 1955 to John Stafford and Betty McGuffie. She was married to Russell Scheller. Clyde Benefield
Services for Clyde Benefield, age 73, who died Thursday, May 19, 2005, were held Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenny Walker, officiating. Interment was at Baldwin Memorial Gardens in Milledgeville. Mr. Benefield was a native of Nashville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Walter and Mollie Singletary Benefieidl. He lived most of his adult life in College Park. He was the owner and operator of Benefield Airport Texaco in East Point. In 1984 he moved to Lake Sinclair and began working at Little River Park. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. JoAnn Brown, 70, of 834 Harmony Road, Eatonton, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services were held at Lone Oak Baptist Church Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. A.M. Samples officiating. Interment was in Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. Brown was born September 8, 1934 in Gilmer County, GA, to Ernest James Sharp and Sallie Mae Green Sharp. She was married to the late Franklin E. Brown. She was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Homegoing service for Rakesh K. Dorsey, son of Patricia Ingram and the grandson of Minnie Burston of Eatonton, GA., was held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Greater Bell Chapel, Eatonton, with the Rev. Gregory Ellison officiating. Interment was in the Eatonton City Cemetery. He was born September 13, 1988 in Macon, Ga. and departed this life on Thursday, May 19, 2005. Rakesh was a student at Putnam County High School where he was loved by everyone. In addition to his mother and grandmother he leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Antwan, Brandon and Andreaus Ingram all of Eatonton, two nieces, Amyah Ingram and Sania Bailey of Eatonton, two nephews; Tyreke Ingram of Greensboro, and Ajonis Ivory of Madison; four aunts, Mary (Melvin) Willis, Carolyn and Jeffery Parham, Veronica Ingram and Tammy Ingram, two uncles; Ricky (Rachel) Ingram and Stanley Ingram, a special cousin who was just like an uncle; Rufus (Catherine) Wesley, a special friend, Taneisha Mullins, one great aunt Valerie Mae Lewis and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Vickie Falkner, 46, of Little River Drive, SW, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Friendship Baptist Chapel at Lake Sinclair. Mrs. Falkner was born May 18, 1958, to the late Hansel Prescott Lance and Ella Barker Lance. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Chapel and a supporter of the Humane Society, the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Mrs. Falkner was preceded in death by her husband: Allyn Keith Falkner. Survivors include: her sisters and brothers-in-law: Sherry and Bobby Petite and Linda Lance; her brothers: Ronnie and Donald Lance; her nieces: Tamara Isbell, Angela McMillan, Sandra Prisk; her nephews: Don Baxter, Donavann Lance, Timothy Lance, Les Lance and Billy Petite; and by eight great-nieces and eight great-nephews.
