Hazel Faye Holder Bryant, age 76, of 1225 Chandler Ridge Dr., Lawrenceville, Ga. died Saturday, October 29, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5 at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with the Reverends Jerry Cline, Ed Chambless, Steve Carter and Pastor Cooley officiating. Interment will be in Buckhead Memorial Cemetery. The Putnam County native was born October 20, 1929 to Josie Royal Holder and Patrick Holder. She was married to Clinton Bryant. She was a member of Yellow River Baptist Tabernacle and Grace Baptist Church, and she was a homemaker. Survivors include: daughters, Sherry Denmon of Fort Pierce, Fla., Janet Thomas of Lawrenceville, son, Joel Bryant of Port St. Lucy, Fla., three brothers, Talmadge Holder, Kenneth Holder and Jim Holder all of Eatonton. Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Royce Thomas, Felix Denmon, Drew Denmon, Tom Williams, Andy Holder and J.D. Holder. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Zeke Dunn Williams, Sr.
Zeke Dunn Williams, Sr., age 75, of 403 N. Madison Avenue, Eatonton died Tuesday October 25, 2005. Funeral services were at the First United Methodist Church (old sanctuary) on Friday, October 28 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Peggy Little officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery. The Fitzgerald, Ben Hill County, Ga. native was born September 30, 1930 to John Duncan Williams, Sr. and Pauline Dunn. He was married to Carol Williams. He was a retired Lt. Col in the U.S. Air Force. He served nearly 27 years, from 1951-1977. He was a fighter pilot and served twice in Vietnam, earned 3 Distinguish Flying Crosses, was an instructor at a Red Flag School. He was a member of All Angels Episcopal and First United Methodist Church of Eatonton, Historical Society Board, Coffee Club, Board of Trustees of First United Methodist Church, Library Board Chairman. Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 302 N. Madison Ave., Eatonton, Ga. 31024. The funeral was a full military funeral with a 21 gun salute. The military served as pallbearers at the graveside. Survivors include: wife, Carol Williams of Eatonton, sons, Zeke Dunn Williams, Jr. of St. Augustine, Fla. and John Duncan Williams, III of Atlanta, daughter, Lizzette Williams of Bunnell, Fla., sister, Lou Williams of Los Angeles, Calif., grandchildren, Olivia Williams of Bunnell, Fla., Joah Williams of St. Augustine, Fla., Casey Williams of St. Augustine, Fla. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Laverne Gutherie
Laverne Gutherie, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005. Funeral services were at 11 am Wednesday at the Ridouts Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham, AL, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Mrs. Gutherie was a native of Birmingham, AL, but lived in Milledgeville for the past seven years. She was the widow of the late Lester Roy Gutherie and was retired from the JCPenney Company in Birmingham. Mrs. Gutherie was a volunteer at Oconee Regional Medical Center, a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Milledgeville, a former member of the Forestdale Church of The Nazarene in Birmingham, where she was recognized as the Missionary of the year. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara King and Joy Hollis, both of Eatonton; a son, Gene Gutherie of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Mellie Hendricks of Owasso, MI and Bessie Bailey of Stuart, FL; a brother, Bob Rigel of Stuart, FL; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Williams Funeral Home & Crematory of Milledgeville had charge of arrangements.

Madelene Hieber Mann
Madelene Hieber Mann, 52, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005. Funeral services were at 11 am Wednesday at Richland First Baptist Church, with interment at Telfair Memorial Gardens in McRae. Mrs. Mann was born in Richland, GA and was preceded in death by her father, Karl Theodore Hieber and her step father, Gerald Thompson of Eatonton. Mrs. Mann was a homemaker and had lived in the community for two years. Her husband is the pastor of Richland Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Frank Mann IV of Richland; her mother, Alice Mardel Hall Whipple; a son, Nathan Mann and his wife, Kasey of Alapaha; two brothers, Karl Heiber and his wife, Ann of Eatonton and Mike Hieber and his wife, Terri of Marietta; a sister, Kathryn Combs and her husband, Sidney of Macomb, IL; a father-in-law, Dr. Frank R. Mann, Jr. of McRae, two grandchildren and eight nieces and four nephews. L.B. Smith Funeral Home of Richland had charge of arrangements.

Tiara Vonsha Franks
Tiara Vonsha Franks, age 21, of 134 Andrews Court, Eatonton, Ga. died unexpected Tuesday, October 11, 2005. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel on Thursday, October 13 at 3 p.m. with Dr. Harry Michael officiating. Interment was held at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The Baldwin County native was born Jan. 9, 1984 to Betty T. Waldroup and Howard Franks. She served in the U.S. Navy from 2002-2005 and was a member of Manley Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include: Mother Betty T. Waldroup and husband James of Eatonton, father, Howard Franks and wife Tammy of Eatonton, half brothers Jeremy Franks and Eli Franks, both of Eatonton, Warren Franks of Milledgeville, half sister, Beth Adams of Norcross; stepbrothers, Brad Maddox, Ray Waldroup, Tommy Waldroup, Chris Waldroup all of Eatonton, David Waldroup of Athens; step sisters, Chasity Waldroup of Eatonton, LeAnna Grimes of Milledgeville; adopted sisters: Paula Jones, Melissa Rusk, Tanya Barlow. Grandparents, paternal grandmother Marie Franks of Eatonton, maternal grandmother, Mary Hunter of Warner Robins. Pallbearers were: James Franks, Jeremy Franks, Brad Maddox, Tony Styles, Brad Robinson, Michael Eldridge. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Joseph Lee Kersey, Jr.
Joseph Lee Kersey, Jr., age 19, of 371 Gray Rd., Eatonton, Ga. died unexpected Tuesday, October 11, 2005. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 15 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Harry Michael officiating. Interment was held at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The Baldwin County native was born Jan. 9, 1986 to Molly Marie Brigman Kersey and Joseph Lee Kersey, Sr. of Eatonton. He was a vinyl siding installer and a member of Manley Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include: parents, Marie Kersey and Joseph Kersey, Sr. of Eatonton; brothers, Bradley Thomas Kersey, Joshua Lynn Kersey, both of Eatonton; maternal grandmother: Sara Brigman of Milledgeville, paternal grandparents: Tom and Evelyn Kersey of Eatonton. Pallbearers were: Wesley Thompson, Chad Thompson, Josh Kersey, Brian Arthur, Richard Herren, Jr. and Mah Huff. Honorary pallbearers were: Bruce Odom, Justin Rushin, Joshua Rushin. Allie M. McLeroy
Allie M. McLeroy, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the former Victoria’s Garden. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Friendship Baptist Chapel Building Fund, 635 Twin Bridges Road SW, Eatonton, Georgia 31024. Mrs. McLeroy was born on September, 18, 1918 in Eclectic, Alabama. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Chapel as well as Ladies of the Lake and NARFE. Mrs. McLeroy was an electronic technician with Warner Robins Air Force Base. After she retired she became a Tupperware dealer. Her husband Alexander McLeroy, parents, Allen and Cora Mason, brother McGhee Mason, and two grandchildren preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Allen N. McLeroy and wife Linda, Sky Valley; Marcus G. McLeroy and wife Elizabeth, Marietta; daughters, Sharon Mullis, Centerville; Wanda Jarzynka and husband Don, Bonaire; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Howard Lindburgh Bruce, age 78, of 194 Crooked Creek Rd., Eatonton died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services were held at Grace Baptist Church on Friday, January 13 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Chambless, the Rev. Frank Bruce, and the Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Interment was held in the Eatonton Memorial Park Cemetery. The Washington County native was born June 11, 1927 to James Fletcher Bruce, Sr. and Georgia Marie Yearwood. He was married to the late Doris Jones Bruce. He was self-employed as a dairyman and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Memorial donation may be made to Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include: daughter, Sandra Salmon, Eatonton; brother, Frank Bruce, Eatonton; sisters, Jewel Prescott and Betty Alexander both of Eatonton; grandchildren, Tara Norris and Dawn Lindsey both of Eatonton; great-grandchildren, Trey Norris and Dylan Lindsey, both of Eatonton. Dorothy Thelma Pounds Buckner
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Thelma Pounds Buckner, age 78, were held Thursday, January 12, who passed away at her residence Friday, January 6, 2006 following her illness. Services were held at New Life Outreach Christian Center with Aspostle Gus Kilgore, Jr., Eulogist Elder James Kilgore, presiding and minister Marzetta Dennis and the Rev. Keith Wilkes assisting. Dorothy Buckner was a native and life-long resident of Putnam and the wife of Mr. Willie Lee Buckner. She attended St. Paul AME Church and she worked for Monticello Cannery Factory for many years. She also was a housemaid. Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Swain and Luvenia Teresa Buckner Thomas, bothof Eatonton; one brother, Curtis Culp of Eatonton; one aunt, Bertha Pounds of Macon; one uncle, Richard Pounds of Detroit, Michigan; one son-in-law, Preston Thoams, Jr., of Eatonton; one sister-in-law, Walter Mae Pounds of Eatonton; two brothers-in-law, Sherman Bebee of New York and Robert Bebee of Washington, D.C.; grandsons, John Lewis Buckner of Eatonton; James Thomas Lawrence, Sr., and wife, Mildred Vanessa Lawrence, and children, Janessa Laquisah Lawrence, Jamari Darrell Lawrence, James Thomas Lawrence, Jr., of Monticello; Tracy Buckner and wife, Shaneca Chantell Buckner, and children, Armani Aaliya Buckner, Tanesha Desiree Buckner, Alexia ReYuanta Buckner, Porsha Delacy Farley, and Trevalence Markeyth Farley of Eatonton; Carl Jean Buckner, Sr., and wife Deborah Louise Buckner, and children, Jaquan Shakeem Buckner, Carl Jean Buckner, Jr., Catina Farley Gordon, Roderick Ramon Farley, and Dontay Farley, of Eatonton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding her in death is one sister, Barbara Alston of Detroit, Michigan; two brothers, Herman Pounds of Eatonton, and Henry Clemons of Arizona; aunts, Beatrice Thomas and Lillian Culp of Eatonton, Cleo Franklin and Alma Martin of Detroit, Michigan; two uncles, William Culp of Detroit, Michigan and Ulus Culp of Eatonton. Raymond Lundy
Raymond Evans Lundy, age 71, of 199 Highland Drive, Eatonton, died Friday, January 13, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Eatonton on Monday, January 16 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Willard officiating. Interment was held at Baldwin Memorial Gardens. The Baldwin County native was born September 29, 1934 to Elisha J. Lundy and Clemmie Johnson. He was married to Essie M. Prosser. He was a retired production manager for Horton Homes, he served in the Navy in Korea, he was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, and was a Mason and a Shriner. Survivors include: wife, Essie P. Lundy, Eatonton; sisters, Betty Ann Hardie of Jacksonville, FL and Jackie Dunn of Eatonton; grandchildren, Ray Lundy (Amanda) of Ashburn, Becky Lundy and Molly Lundy both of Monticello. Preceded in death by Ray Lundy, Jr.; Dwayne Lundy and E.J. Lundy, Jr. Pallbearers were: John Dempsey, Charles Lankford, Richard Hardie, Robbie Hardie, Randy Hardie and Ted Prosser. Jeffrey Edward Saltamacchio
Jeffrey Edward Saltamacchio, age 27, of Snellville, Georgia passed away January 9, 2006 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida. Jeff is survived by his mother Pat Saltamacchio of Loganville, father and step-mother Ray and Brenda Saltamacchio of Eatonton, brother Ryan Saltamacchio of Loganville, grandparents Joe and Cookie Saltamacchio of Lawrenceville, Carson and Thelma Rogers of Snellville and many aunts, uncles nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service was held Friday, January 13 at the Tom Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Alleene Dailey Titcombe, age 86, of 271 Steel Bridge Rd., Eatonton died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton on Sunday, January 15 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Glover officiating. Interment was held at Baldwin Memorial Gardens. The Fairfax, Virginia native was born June 19, 1919 to Aubrey Dailey and Ethel Dyer. She was married to Lawrence W. “Tim” Titcombe. She was a retired secretary. Survivors include: son, Barry Titcombe of Eatonton. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Mrs. Birdean Adams, age 93 died Thursday, December 22, 2005. Services were held Saturday, December 24, at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel in Rainsville, Ala. with Bro. Harry Michael officiating. Interment was held in Pleasant View Cemetery. She was born on April 14, 1912. Survivors include: daughter, Geraldine A. Patterson, brother, Granville Camp, sister, Lillie Ruth Slay, grandchildren, Denny Patterson and Kenny Patterson, great-grandchildren, Brittany Patterson and Kristin Patterson.

Mary Roberts Barker, age 85, of 5429 Skyline Lane, Dayton, Ohio died January 1, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Ceneter. Funeral services were held at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 3 at 4 p.m. The Daton, Ohio native was born August 25, 1920. She was married to David G. Margaret Gilchrist, age 95 of 106 Grove St., Eatonton, Ga. died Friday, December 30, 2005 at Putnam General Hospital. Services will be private. The Putnam County native was born May 25, 1909 to Benjamin Gouch and Elizabeth Morton. Life long resident of Putnam County. She worked for a short period in Stanton Island, NY,She married Scotish born James Gilchrist on Oct. 8, 1932. She was a member of the Union Chapel Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and was employed as a secretary. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. Ammie Key McLeroy, age 85, of Eatonton Health Care Center, Eatonton, Ga. died Friday, December 23, 2005. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel on Wednesday, December 28 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Ben Strength officiating. Interment was in the family cemetery. The Putnam County native was born on January 18, 1920 to Frank Key and Brown Key. She was married to Charles Edward McLeroy. She was a homemaker and a member of Arrat Methodist Church. Survivors include: daughters, Robbie McLeroy Young, Milledgevillem Benita McLeroy, Veronica McLeroy, both of Eatonton; sons, Frank McLeroy, C.E. McLeroy, both of Eatonton; sister, Katheryn Key, Brunswick, Shirley Key, Atlanta, brother, Odis Key, Eatonton. Edward Paul Rice, age 52, of 412 N. Jefferson, Eatonton, Ga., died, Wednesday, December 14, 2005. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Eatonton on Friday, December 16 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Kitchen and Dudley Horton officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery. The Baldwin County native was born February 27, 1953 to Peter Jacob Rice, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Ballard. He was married to Robin Vickery. He was employed in real estate sales, real estate appraiser. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eatonton. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Gatewood Dugout Club. Survivors include: his wife, Robin Rice of Eatonton, daughters, Elizabeth Lee Rice and Rebecca Wynn Rice, both of Eatonton, brother Peter J. Rice, Jr. and wife B. J. of Greensboro, sisters, Beth Willis and husband, Jim of Eatonton, Ommye Stage-Pedersen and husband, Carsten of Madison; mother, Mildred Rice of Eatonton, many nieces and nephews. Herschel G. Screws
Services for Mr. Herschel G. Screws, age 74 of Milledgeville, Ga. who died Sunday, January 1, 2006, were held Tuesday, January 3, at 3 p.m. at Gethsemane United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard W. Zeller, the Rev. Don Ott and the Rev. Tommy Veal officiating. Burial followed in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Screws was a native of Johnson County. He was the son of the late Gaynor Screws and the late Sally Myrtle Cochran Screws. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Screws lived in Dublin from 1948 until moving to Milledgeville in 1973. He is the retired owner and operator of Screws Service Station, East Dublin, and was self employed in the timber industry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Grady Screws. Survivors include: wife, Theresa Kitchens Screws of Milledgeville, daughter Hersha Jean (Bob) Herndon of Milledgeville, son, Curtis Lee (Tamala) Screws of Putnam County, grandchildren, Tyler Screws, Lee Screws, Trey Screws, Sean Curtis Herndon, brothers and sisters, Cleo Screws of Belmont, NC, Bennie Screws of Dublin, Viola Bustos of Alpharetta, Dorothy Whited of Norcross, Rosa Brown of Dublin, Glenda Gilleland of Gainesville, several nieces and nephews. Marjorie Crowe
Marjorie Smallwood Crowe, age 79, died Friday, December 23, 2005. Funeral services were held Monday, December 26 at 3 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Milledgeville. Interment was in Baldwin Memorial Gardens. A native of Jones County and daughter of the late Javann and Stella Wood Smallwood, Mrs. Crowe made her home in Putnam County for a number of years. She had lived in Milledgeville for the past 33 years. She was the widow of the late Lanois David Crowe, Sr. and was preceded in death by a son Ronnie Crowe. She was a retired employee of Central State Hospital. Survivors include: daughters, Judy Gibson of Milledgeville, Joyce Hamlin of Murphy, N.C., Janet Chadwick of Acworth; sons, Donnie Crowe of Anderson, S.C., Frankie Crowe of Eatonton, David Crowe, Jr. and Raymond Crowe of Milledgeville, 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
