Mary W. Daniel
Mary W. Daniel, age 81, of 22 Holly Drive, Cartersville, Ga. died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at her residence. Graveside services were held at Berea Cemetery in Hampton, Ga. on Saturday, December 17 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Herbert Blackburn officiating. The Lanette, Alabama native was born September 28, 1924 to John L. Worsham and Bertha Terry. She was married to Albert C. Daniel, Jr. She was a retired L.P.N. and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Hope: Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation, 1600 Duke Street, Suite 500, Alexandria, VA 22314. Survivors include: daughters, Terry Beasley and Carol Wyatt, both of Cartersville, son, Richard Daniel of Cartersville, grandchildren, Lynn Grant of Eatonton, Paul, Ashley and Derek, all of Cartersville, Ricky and Ginny, both of Dahlonega, Mallory and Meredith, both of Gainesville and six great grandchildren.

Dolly Ingram
Dolly Dearman Ingram, age 57, of 105 Imperial Street, Eatonton, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton on Thursday, December 22 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Interment was at Eatonton Memorial Park. The Putnam County, Ga. native was born January 19, 1948 to John E. Dearman and Ollie Mae Cumbie. She was assistant director of activities in the Wood Building at the Veterans Home. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at VFW Post 6686. Memorials may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church in Hillsboro or Portsbridge Hospice in Macon. Survivors include: sons, Jay Crouch and Brandon Dearman of Eatonton, sister, Diane Royal of Eatonton, mother Ollie Rowsey of Eatonton, devoted friend Ben Reese of Eatonton. Grandchildren, Christian Crouch, Ethan Crouch, Cambell Crouch, Lukas Dearman and Kyler Dearman. Pallbearers were Cliff Collins, Armour Maddox, Steve Brown, Alan Reid, Phil Newsome, Leroy Stapp, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Jones, Jr., Harry Doster, Cliff Dodson. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Jose Lopez Montes
Jose Lopez Montes, age 34, of 140 Union Chapel Road, Eatonton died, Saturday, December 17, 2005. Funeral services were held in Zacatecas, Mexico on Friday, December 23 at 12 p.m. Interment was in Ojo Caliente Zacatecas. Mr. Montes was a native of Mexico born September 26, 1971 to Bernardo Lopez and Virginia Montes Garcia. He was a laborer at Horton Homes. He was Catholic faith. Survivors include: his parents, Bernardo Lopez and Virginia Montes Garcia; children, Jose Lopez, Jennifer Lopez, Dillon Lopez, Kimberly Lopez; brothers, Crus, Domingo, Juan and Baudelio Lopez Montes, sisters, Lorenza, Mary, Petra and Claudia Isela Lopez Montes, numerous nieces and nephews. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.

Gertrude Dennis Presley
Services for Mrs. Gertrude Dennis Presley, age 85, were held Saturday, December 23, 2005, who passed away Sunday, December 18, 2003 in a Fulton County Medical facility. Services were held at Henderson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Williams of Greater Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga. the Rev. Willie C. Jones, pastor, the Rev. Eddie Lee Presley, Evangelist Monique Render and Elder Jesse Porter assisting. Burial was conducted in the East Eatonton Cemetery. Mrs. Presley was a native3 and life long resident of Putnam County. She was a member of Henderson Grove Baptist Church serving as Deaconess and a Church Mother. Cherishing her memories are: her husband Roosevelt Presley, six children Mrs. Annie Mae Burke (Hulon); Cleveland Presley (Sandra); Carolyn Presley-Farley (Luther) all of Eatonton, Ga. Roosevelt Presley, Jr. of Riverdale, Ga., Mrs. Rugenia Rencher (Timmie) of Lithonia, Ga.; Evangelist Leila Williams (Rev. Roger) of Mableton, Ga. Her son Terry Lee Presley of Eatonton, preceded her in death, one sister Estell Milline of Milledgeville and two sisters-in-laws Hazel Presley of Hamilton, OH, and Clara Presley of Atlanta. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends. Hurt & Redd Funeral Home of Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Marvline T. Fowler
Marvline T. Fowler, age 64, of 174 Bluegill Road, Eatonton, Ga. died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Putnam General Hospital. Services will be private. The Morgan County, Alabama native was born September 14, 1941 to Elbert L. Tudor and Eularve Cook. She was married to William Fowler. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church of Sumerville, Ala. Survivors include: husband, William Fowler of Eatonton, son, Robert Charles Fowler of Stockbridge, three daughters, Vivian Kelley, Karen Callaway, both of Eatonton, Lona McClure of Jackson, two sisters Laurene Glover and Bonny Cook of Sumerville, Ala. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Floyd F. Homstad
Floyd Franklin Homstad, age 87, of 128 Sunset Drive, Eatonton, Ga. died Monday, December 5, 2005 at Eatonton Healthcare Center. Funeral services were private. The Washington State native was born March 24, 1918 to Franklin Homstad and Eliza Homstad. He was married to Linda Louise Warren Homstad. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was in management at Lockheed Martin. Survivors include: wife, Linda Homstad of Eatonton. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Mary Lou Kisling
Mary Lou Kisling, age 76, of Milledgeville, Ga. died Thursday, December 1, 2005. She was born in Detroit, MI to the late Odell and the late Wilma Dawkins Parish. She was a member of the Conley Baptist Church and she retired from Kroger with over 32 years of service. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5 at Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Dr. Joe King officiating. Interment followed at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Kisling is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Harold Jr.) Parker, Eatonton; sister, Barbara Bray, Shawnee, OK; brothers, John Parish, Memphis, TN and Lambert Parish, Nashville, TN; granddaughter, Selena Chavis, Niceville, FL; grandson, Clinton Parker, Ft. Marilyn Mitchell Ratteree Mayfield, 72, of Eatonton, GA , formally of Atlanta, GA passed away December 4, 2005. She is survived by her four daughters, Pamela R. Carlock, Michele R. Morris, Angela R. McKinley and Lisa R Bibb; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, James L and Emily Mitchell , sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and John Wurz and 2 nieces. She was a member or Martha Brown United Methodist Church in her youth and then Mount Carmel Christian Church. Per her request her body was donated to Emory University. The family received friends at her home at Lake Oconee on Tuesday Dec 6th from 12-2 pm 115 Misty Lane, Eatonton, GA In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Abbey Hospice Foundation, 215 Azalea Court Social Circle, GA 30025.

Jacob D. Payne
Sgt. Jacob D. Payne, United States Marine Corps, died November 27, 2005, at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services for Sgt. Payne will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2005, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with the Rev. David Payne, CWO3 Darren Anderson, the Rev. Terry Hall and the Rev. Wayne Whitley officiating. Interment followed at Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Payne of Shady Dale; mother and step-father, Beth and Terry Hall of Social Circle; father and step-mother, David and Carol Payne of Eatonton; sister, Erika Payne of Cherry Point, N.C.; grandparents, Linda and Robert Lannon, Clarence Lannon, all of Michigan, Virgie Walker of Macon; half-sister, Delila Payne of Macon; step-sisters, Lynda Andrews of Eatonton, Brandi Hall of Conyers; step-brothers, Terry Hall, Jr. of Conyers, Joshua Hall, Caleb Hall, both of Covington; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Friede Ulm
Services for Elfriede “Friede” Dickemann Ulm, age 85, were held Monday evening, December 5, 2005 at 6 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Ulm was a native of Germany. She had lived in Baldwin County a number of years before moving to Putnam County 18 years ago. She was the widow of Mr. Claude W. Ulm. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville. Survivors include: daughters, Kathy Smith of Eatonton, Lyndoll Gapen of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Claude A. Ulm of Milledgeville; brother, Ewalt Dickeman of Germany; grandchildren, Kim Taylor of Omaha, Laura Smith and Rick Smith of Eatonton, Claudia Ulm of Milledgeville. Johnnie Mae Wood, age 82, of 758 Milledgeville Rd., Eatonton, Ga. died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services were held at Smyrna Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. Interment was in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. The Laurens County, Ga. native was born on May 27, 1923 to Fronnie Mae Green and Joe Horton. She was married to Thomas L. Wood She was a homemaker and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. Survivors include: son, Elmer Wood (Betty) of Tennille, daughters, Ann Griffin, Dale Sparks (Tommy) both of Eatonton, Susan Hannah (Jimmy) of East Dublin, adopted brother, Bobby Stevens of Philadelphia, PA, 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Thomas L. Wood, sons, Jimmy Wood and Douglas Prosser, daughter, Faye Wood and grandson Greg Brown. Pallbearers were Van Hood, Raven Hood, Roger Pierce, Leon Alford, Wayne Collis, Daryl Wilder, Keith Reeves, Tommy Sparks, Kevin Rowland and Jimmy Hannah. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Glynna Sue Aycock
April 20, 1943 - Nov. 24, 2005
Glynna Sue Aycock, 62, of Shelton Drive, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, in a local nursing home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2005, graveside at Walnut Cemetery in Unadilla. Ms. Aycock was born in Tifton on April 20, 1943, and had lived in Eatonton for the past three and a half years. She was the daughter of the late William B. Aycock, was a homemaker and a member of Vienna Church of God. Ms. Aycock is survived by her mother: Esther Hester Aycock of Eatonton; and her sisters: Eleanor Galyean of Eatonton and Doris Hawkins of Phoenix, Arizona. The family may be contacted at the residence at 234 Shelton Drive in Eatonton. Bridges Funeral Home in Gray had charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Mary Emlet
Oct. 24, 1939 - Nov. 10, 2005
Elizabeth “Liz” Mary Emlet, age 66, of West River Bend Way, N.E. died Wednesday, November 10, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services were private. Mrs. Emlet was born October 24, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Page R. Bridges and Marjorie A. Hansen Garrison. She spent her childhood in Muscatine, Iowa. Mrs. Emlet married Chester E. Emlet, August 16, 1056 in Iowa City, Iowa and being a military family, they traveled throughout the world but spent most of their years in the state of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: John L. and Alta Mitchell Hansen. Mrs. Emlet is survived by her husband of forty-nine years: Chester E. Emlet of Eatonton; her sons and daughters-in-law: Brad L. Emlet of Conyers, Rodney L. and Sally Emlet of Stockbridge, Terry L. and Jennifer Emlet of Eatonton; sister: Ruth M. Bridges of Muscatine, Iowa; half- brother; Ronnie R. Bridges of Claremore, Oklahoma; stepfather: Albert Garrison of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren: Terry L. Jr., Lisa A., Steven W., Trey, Justin, Kimberly, Kyle Dickey and Addison Emlet. Bridges Funeral Home in Gray was in charge of final arrangements.

Stephen W. Oshinsky
Aug. 21, 1941 - Nov. 23, 2005
Stephen Warren Oshinsky, age 64, of 171 Blue Heron Drive, Eatonton, Ga. died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at his residence after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Private services were held Wednesday, November 30 at Floral Park Cemetery in Monmouth Junction, N.J. with Rabbi Bennett Miller officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at Congregation Shir Hadash, Los Gatos, California, December 11, 2005 at 3 p.m. Steve was born in New York on August 21, 1941 to Elihu Isaac Oshinsky and Sophie Goldstien. He was married to Carolyn Oshinsky. He attended the University of North Carolina, Tufts Dental School and NYU post-graduate periodontal program. He served in the United States Navy from 1965-68, completing two tours on the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga. In the 1970’s, Steve and his wife Carolyn relocated to the San Francisco Bay area where he practiced dentistry for thirty years before retiring and building a residence on Lake Oconee in Georgia. He will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for life, and his passion for travel, golf and fishing. Those who know Steve will fondly remember his wry sense of humor, generosity, leadership and thirst for knowledge. Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Oshinsky of Eatonton; son, Joshua Oshinsky, daughter-in- law Christina and grandson Zachary of San Jose, CA; daughter, Allison Harmon, son-in-law Chris and grandson Nathan of Boston, MA; daughter Sarah McKeon and son-in-law Rod of San Clemente, CA; and brother David Oshinsky and sister-in-law Jane of Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Care Options, 311 N. Cobb Street, Suite 3, Milledgeville, GA 31061 or the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, GA 30605. Bobby Wayne Smith
Dr. Bobby W. Smith, 70, of 1200 Golf View Lane in Greensboro passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2005 from complications of lung cancer. Memorial services were Tuesday, Nov. 29th at 12 noon at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peggy Little officiating. Dr. Smith was the son of the late Clay Smith and Susie Smith of Reynolds, GA. He was a former resident of Decatur and Tucker where he had a Chiropractic practice for more than 43 years. He retired in 2003 and his son, Jeff assumed leadership in the continuation of health care for Dr. Smith’s patients and friends. His professional affiliations include service to Life Chiropractic College as an Associate Professor and Instructor at Life Chiropractic Collage in Marietta, GA; officer and instructor of the Grostic Orthospinology Research Group and an active member of the Georgia Chiropractic Association. Dr. Smith was a member of Kiwanis and was involved with Little League and was a member of the Boy Scouts in Decatur. Dr. Smith and his wife, Peggy had just celebrated 50 years of marriage and Dr. Smith’s birthday on October 8th. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy Smith of Greensboro; three sons, Gregory Smith of Cumming and Douglas Smith of Greensboro and Dr. Jeffrey Smith of Norcross and five grandchildren. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Brian Hud Williams
March 29, 1977 - Nov. 24, 2005
Brian Hud Williams, age 28, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at his residence. Graveside services were held Sunday, November 27 at 2 p.m. at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Hugh Ward officiating and assisted by the Rev. Andy Strange. He was born March 29, 1977 in Baldwin County, GA. Brian is the son of Laura B. Williams of Moultrie and the late O. Wadye Williams of Eatonton. Grandparents are Elaine C. Bricker and the late John O. Bricker of Moultrie, and the late Carl Vinson and the late Mary Emma Williams of Gibson, GA. In high school Brian lettered in tennis, was official video photographer for the football team under Coach Jim Hughes, and was a volunteer certified referee for the local YMCA youth soccer program. Brian graduated from Colquitt County High School in 1995 and attended Valdosta State University. He worked in the trim shop at Destiny and in construction before enrolling in Radiology at Moultrie Technical College. Survivors include his mother, Laura B. Williams, of Moultrie, his brother Jay Williams and wife Alison of Moultrie and his grandmother.

Dennis Wilson Knowles
Oct. 17, 1933 - Nov. 17, 2005
Dennis Wilson Knowles, age 72, of 8509 Image Way, Louisville, Ky. died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton on Sunday, November 20 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. John C. McMillian. Interment was at Eatonton Memorial Park The Putnam County native was born Oct. 17, 1933 to Annie Kat Wagner and Woodrow Wilson Knowles. He served in the Army National Guard, and was a supervisor at the Aluminum Co. Survivors include: sons, Randall Knowles, Steven Knowles, and daughter Laverne Knowles, all from Louisville, Ky.; brother, Alvin Knowles; sister, Debbie Newsome of Decatur; grandchildren, Charity Knowles, Nathan Knowles, Tamara Lynn Knowles, brother, Alvin Knowles. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Monroe Parr
Oct. 28, 1924 - Nov. 19, 2005
William Monroe Parr, age 81, of 204 S. Madison Ave., Eatonton, Ga. died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel on Monday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Willard and Rev. Dudley Horton officiating. Interment was at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Manchester, Meriwether Co., Ga. native was born on Oct. 28, 1924 to Robert Lester Parr and Wille Mae Griffin. He was married to Clara Maddox of Eatonton. He served in the Army during World War II and was a general Contractor/Roofer. He was a member of Liberty Chapel, and the VFW 6686. Survivors include: wife, Clara Parr of Eatonton, sons, Jerry Hobbs and Jimmy Hobbs, both of Eatonton and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Kent Lawrence, Jack Logan, Lynn Hardy, Joe Maddox, Herman Maddox, Ricky Maddox. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.

Pat Lankford
Patten Hughlon Lankford, age 65, of 108 Meriwether Circle, NW, Milledgeville, Ga. died November 18, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services were held at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton on Monday, November 21 at 11 a.m. with pastor Billy Waters and the Rev. Dudley Horton officiating. Interment was in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The Putnam County native was born Jan. 26, 1940 to Jess Lankford and Maudie Alexander. He was married to Lynn King Lankford. He was a singer/songwriter. Survivors include: wife, Lynn Lankford of Milledgeville; son, Randy Hughlon Lankford of Eatonton; daughters, Pamela Elaine Davis of Macon and Terri Kay Smith of Gainesville; sister, Nellie McHugh of Rutledge, five grandchildren, Christopher Brett, Hatcher Burl Davis, Bobbie Lynn Collis,Jessica Michelle McKee, Brent McKee. Pallbearers were: Steve Allison, Roger Smith, Donnie Cape, Roy Embry, Mike Rainey, Joe Hudson. Honorary pallbearers were: Jeffrey Knowles, Henry Leverette, Shannon Long, Harry Hudson, Jim Batchelor. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.
