Bobby Warren
Bobby Warren, 64, of Eatonton, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008. A native of Dudley, he was a Putnam County resident for the past 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired electrician. Survivors include his wife, Mary Shields of Eatonton; stepchildren, Anjanetti Callies and Jack Shields, both of Douglasville; sister, Shelia Kay of Eatonton; brothers, James Warren of Gray and Ronnie Williams of Eatonton; and a number of other relatives. A private service will be held with burial at sea performed by the U.S. Navy. Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Milledgeville was in charge of arrangements.

Paul D. Quesenberry
Paul Daniel Quesenberry, 50, of Emory Drive in Eatonton, unexpectedly died Sunday, April 20, 2008 in Forsyth. An Ohio native, he was born in 1957 to James Glenn Quesenberry and Lois Murray. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lee Ann Painter. Survivors include his father, James Quesenberry of Eatonton; mother, Lois Murray and husband Enlow of Eatonton; daughter, Danielle Quesenberry; son, Mac Quesenberry; and brother, Dale Quesenberry. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 27 at the family home, 203 Emory Drive in Eatonton.

Johnny Reid
Johnny Reid, 57, of Eatonton, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008. An Eatonton native, he was born Aug. 30, 1950 to the late Fannie Marion Reid and Robert Harden. “Blade Face,” as he was affectionately known, was a 1969 graduate of Butler-Baker School. An avid basketball fan, he was employed by Delta Air Lines for 33 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Daniels. Survivors include son, Johnny C. Reid and wife Aquilla of Conley; brother, Robert G. Reid and wife Doris of Eatonton; sister, Margaret Little and husband Norman of Decatur; four grandchildren, Cyeash Neely and Darius Demps, both of Atlanta, and Cymande Reid and Cymore Reid of Conley; aunt, Julia Daniels of Atlanta; three uncles, Raymond Reid and wife Diane of Fayetteville, Robert Reid of Rochester, N.Y., and Ralph Reid of Seattle, Wash.; special cousins, Dorothy Evans and Johnny Lee Evans; special friends, Harry Walton of Decatur, Vickie Ingram of Eatonton, Betty Jean Smith and Robert Little; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service was Saturday, April 19 at Zion Convenant Fellowship in Eatonton with the Rev. J.W. Reid and Pastor Randall C. Studivant Sr. officiating. Butler-Baker Class of 1969 classmates and friends served as pallbearers and flower bearers. Putnam Memorial Funeral Home in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Leroy Ball
Leroy Ball, 66, of Eatonton, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008. A native of Lamar County, he had lived in Eatonton since 1980. He was a retired machine operator from Bordens in Macon. Survivors include son, Travis Ball of Eatonton; sister, Ruby Allen of Montezuma; and a number of other relatives. Funeral service will be Friday, April 25 at 2 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Milledgeville. Interment will follow in Heritage Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 24 from 6-8 p.m. Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Milledgeville is in charge of arrangements.

James L. Coleman
James L. “Boe” Coleman, 82, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Born Easter Sunday, April 4, 1926 in Dodge County and raised in McRae, he was son of the late James Oscar and Alice Johns Coleman. A veteran of World War II, he served in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Eatonton and Sinclair-Oconee Ambassadors of Georgia Power Company. He retired from Georgia Power’s marketing department in 1986 after 35 years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances W. Coleman; son, Jim Coleman Jr. of Macon; daughter, Judy C. Ireland and husband John of Eclectic, Ala.; four grandchildren, John Ireland Jr., Katharine Ireland, Lesley Ireland and Chappell Coleman; sister, Juvine Field of McRae; and nephew, Michael D. Garrett and wife Karen of Atlanta. Funeral service was Saturday, April 19 at First United Methodist Church in Eatonton. Interment followed at Telfair Memorial Gardens in McRae. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Doris S. Jones
Doris Slate Jones of Eatonton, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at her residence. She was preceded in death by husbands, Leslie Moble Slates and Julius Jones. Survivors include children, Gary Slates and wife Carolyn of Macon, Jean Slates of Eatonton, Sue Hatfield and husband Otis of Eatonton, Tony Slates of Milledgeville, Thomas Slates and wife Amber of Unionville, Mo., and Philip Slates and wife Kristine of Milledgeville; stepchildren, Wayne Jones, Brad Jones and Doug Jones, all of Massachusetts, Brenda Lannon of Maine and Juanita Combs of Eatonton; grandchildren, Lee Slates, Crystal Slates, Sterling Slates, Skyler Slates and Elijah Slates; great-grandchildren, Rylee Slates and Avery Slates; and brother, James Drebenstedt of Philadelphia, Mo. Memorial service was Saturday, April 19 at Kingdom Hall in Eatonton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials donations to Hospice Care Options in Milledgeville. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Larry Nelson
Larry “Uncle Bap” Nelson, 49, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after a life-long battle with sickle cell anemia. A Putnam County native, he was born Aug. 29, 1958 to the late Virgil Scott and Callie M. Nelson. A 1977 graduate of Putnam County High School, he pursued an engineering degree at the University of Kentucky before illness forced his withdrawal after two years. He was a member of Blessed Life Apostolic Overcoming Church of God in Atlanta. Survivors include his mother, Callie M. Nelson; two daughters, Jessica Nelson and Lanecia Nelson; sister, Bobbie Cole and husband Larry; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral service was Tuesday, April 15 at Greater Bells Chapel Baptist Church with Elder William T. Walker and the Rev. Gregory Ellison officiating. Interment followed in East Eatonton Cemetery. The Yarbrough brothers and family served as pallbearers, while Nelson family and friends were flower bearers. Putnam Memorial Funeral Home in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Jacquelyn B. Dunagan
Jacquelyn “Jackie” Brown Dunagan, 59, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at her home. She was born April 13, 1948 with twin, Ginny, to the late Edward Pierce Brown and Jacquelyn Jackson Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Greene County and attended Greensboro High School. She had worked at the Clothes Closet, Greensboro Florist and Country House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Brown. Survivors include four daughters, Amy Boswell and husband Farrett of Greensboro, Anngie Ogletree of Greensboro, Beth Richards and husband Marc of Crawfordville, and Kim Crawford and husband Bill Jr. of Greensboro; two sons, David Dunagan and wife Teresa of White Plains and Richard Dunagan Jr. and wife Bitsy of White Plains; two sisters, Linda B. Boswell and husband Rooster of Greensboro, and Ginny Rozier and husband Mike of Eatonton; good friends, Jean Dolvin and Charles Easley; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and host of other relatives and friends. Graveside service was Friday, April 11 at Greshamville Cemetery with the Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. The family requests memorials be made to Nathanael Greene Academy or the charity of choice. McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy C. Fuller
Dorothy Cranford Fuller, 81, of Sparta Highway in Eatonton, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Putnam County, she was born Sept. 14, 1926 to the later Walter Jr. and Lena Elizabeth Cranford. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Eatonton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Ernest Fuller; daughter, Susan Mitcham; and sister, Arrie McClure. Survivors include children, Steven Trubey and wife Shuzui of California, Elizabeth Denham and husband Jim of Eatonton, Teresa Crutchfield of Milledgeville, Daniel Trubey III and wife Gail of Eatonton, Leonard Trubey of Florida, and David Trubey and wife Marsha of Loganville; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was Saturday, April 12 at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel with the Rev. Scott Doster officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Denham, Justin Denham, Russ Denham, Gene Mitcham, Chuck Breft and Josh Trubey. Honorary pallbearer was David Denham. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel of Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Galen E. Gates
Galen Ellsworth Gates, 70, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008. A past resident of Gwinnett County, he had retired to Lake Sinclair. Survivors include his wife, Neva Gates; children, Darren Gates and David Gates; grandchildren, Shana Alexander and Allyssa Gates; and other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at Moores Funeral Home in Milledgeville. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. Moores Funeral Home in Milledgeville is in charge of arrangements.

Herman Looney
Herman Looney, 71, of Eatonton, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of LaGrange, he was born Aug. 9, 1936 to the late John R. and Fanny Lilly Looney. He had no known family, and funeral arrangements have yet to be made.

Ann D. Thurman
Ann Dearman Thurman, 76, died suddenly Sunday, April 6, 2008 at her Lake Sinclair home. She was born March 9, 1932 in Decatur, the only child of Corinne Schell and Harry Dearman – a long-time Putnam County family. She lived most of her life in the Atlanta area, but often visited family and friends in Eatonton. She married Harry P. “Tony” Thurman at age 14 and was married for 62 years. She and her husband retired to Lake Sinclair in 1980. Survivors include her husband, Tony Thurman of Eatonton; son, Harry Thurman and wife Nancy of Loganville; daughters, Dorothy Ann Turpen and husband Bob of Dawsonville, and Linda Lee Ralston and husband Walker of Eatonton; four grandsons, Chris Thurman and wife Stacy of Southlake, Texas, Keith Thurman and wife Angie of Roswell, Walker David Ralston and Garrett Lee Ralston, both of Eatonton; and one great-granddaughter, Mia Thurman of Southlake, Texas. Funeral service was Tuesday, April 8 at Vinings Ivy Hill Chapel with the Rev. Mike Williard officiating. The eulogy was given by her grandsons, all of whom are Eagle Scouts.

Estoria Winslett
Estoria Winslett, 85, of Eatonton, died Friday, April 10, 2008 at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Oconee County, she was born Aug. 10, 1922 to the late Cicero and Vonnie Deaton Turk. She was a self-employed seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Winslettt, and two sons, Vincent Winslett and Jerry Winslett. Survivors include children, Perry McClain and wife Donna of Florida, Susan Cummings and husband Michael of Eatonton, and Carlton Winslett and wife Diane of Vidalia. Graveside service was Sunday, April 13 in the family cemetery with the Rev. Ben Strength officiating. Pallbearers were Shawn McClain, Shane McClain, Thomas McClain, Larry Manley, Jeff Cooper and Kelly Newton. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Annette Ayers
Annette Ayers, 65, of Victoria Lane in Eatonton, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Macon Medical Center. She was born Aug. 16, 1942 in Rockdale County to the late William Luther and Flora Lou Middlebrooks Wallace. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wallace. Survivors include her husband Hugh “Tony” Ayers of Eatonton; children, Tony Keith Ayers and wife Elizabeth, Robin Whittaker and husband James and Rena Whittaker and husband Torrey, all of Eatonton; grandchildren, Jason Whittaker and wife Lisa, Jeremy Ayers, Kristina Whittaker Mashburn and husband ryan, Sarah Ayers McAllister and husband Chris, Brent Whittaker, Holly Ayers, Daniel Mitchell and Sara Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ayers and Abigail McAllister; sisters, Mildred Slaton, Ruth Holmes, both of Union Point, and Betty Brand of Good Hope; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Friday, April 11 in Vining Ivy Hill Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Bess officiating. Interment followed at Eatonton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Brent Whittaker, Jeremy Ayers, Ryan Mashburn, Robert Shirley, Daniel Mitchell, Andrew Kersey and Rhys Page. Jason Whittaker served as honorary pallbearer. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Doris S. Jones
Doris Slates Jones passed away on April 15, 2008 at her residence in Eatonton with her family by her side. She is survived by her children Gary Slates and wife Carolyn of Macon, Jean Slates of Eatonton, Sue Hatfield and husband Otis of Eatonton, Tony Slates of Milledgeville, Thomas Slates of Unionville, Missouri and Philip Slates and wife Kristine of Milledgeville; step-children Wayne, Brad and Doug Jones of Massachusetts, Brenda Lannon of Maine and Juanita Combs of Eatonton; grandchildren Lee, Crystal, Sterling, Skyler and Elijah Slates; great-grandchildren Rylee and Avery Slates; brother James Drevenstedt of Philadelphia, Missouri. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 19 at Kingdom Hall, 128 Imperial Mill Road, Eatonton, at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice Care Options, 811 N. Cobb St., Millegeville, Georgia.

Jet Reeves Jr.
Jet Reeves Jr. was born July 5, 1945 in Milledgeville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Jet Reeves Sr. and Mamie Little Reeves. On Monday, April 7, 2008, God called him home. Jet, “LC” as called by many, attended Baldwin County Schools. He was formerly employed by Hardees and the Putnam County Headstart. LC’s hobby was fishing. Those left to mourn his passing are, a devoted wife of 26 years, Eleanor Sue Reeves; stepchildren Tina Marie Collins (Barry) of Brazelton, Mary Elizabeth Justice (Jason) of Demorest and Amy Sue Mealor (Star) of Bishop; sisters Gertie Smith, Dena Lawrence (John), and Rena Adams all of Eatonton; brothers Herburt Yarbrough (Carrie), Mozelle Little (Emma), Ben Reeves (Shirley), and Moses Little (Ruby) all of Eatonton, Charles Reeves and RC Reeves of Pensacola, Florida; six step grandchildren; godson Lonnie Nelson; special friends Blake Mullins, Wyatt Manson, Sidney Burke, Gene Manson, Sonny Broadnax and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Service was held Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at New Life Christian Outreach Center in Eatonton with Apostle Dr. Gus Kilgore Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were nephews and friends and flower bearers were nieces and friends. Putnam Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sidney B. Batchelor
Sidney Blake Batchelor, 72, of Barker Drive in Eatonton, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Putnam General Hospital. A Putnam County native, he was born March 27, 1936, a son of the late Jackson Willie Batchelor and Tempa Davis. A veteran of the Army National Guard, he was a warehouse manager and member of First Baptist Church in Eatonton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.R. Davis. Survivors include his wife, Georgia Batchelor of Eatonton; daughters, Ginger Jones and husband Ronney of Eatonton, Natalie Harris and husband Michael of Eatonton, and Rita Gay Gilman and husband Troy of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Drew Jones of Eatonton, Kelly McBurnett and husband Ryan of Eatonton, Emily Jones of Eatonton, Dylan Harris of Eatonton, Garrett Harris of Eatonton, Monica Ramage of Milledgeville, DeAnna Ramage of Milledgeville, and Chaz Ray of Eatonton; great-grandchildren, Rylee McBurnett of Eatonton and Koleman Ramage of Milledgeville; siblings, Carolyn Dex and husband Sid, Evelyn White and husband Carl, Linda Elkins and husband Mercer, Pete Batchelor and wife Martha, Dollie Harper and husband Ben, John Batchelor, Charlotte Brown and husband Mike, and Danny Batchelor and wife Jackie. Funeral service was Tuesday, April 8 at First Baptist Church in Eatonton with the Rev. Bill Kitchens officiating. Interment followed in Eatonton Memorial Park. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of arrangements.

Linwood J. Ramsey
Linwood Joseph Ramsey, 58, of Long Shoals Avenue in Eatonton, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at his residence. A native of Rocky Mount, N.C., he was born March 10, 1950 to the late Charles E. and Jewel Udey Ramsey. A self-employed contractor, he was a member of Liberty Chapel and Georgia Classic Cruisers. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Ramsey; son, Jason Corey McCullough; daughters, Kelly Zumwatt and husband Paul of North Carolina, and Nicole Boyles and husband Jason of South Carolina; granddaughter, Ameron Zumwatt; grandson, Joseph Zumwatt; and brother, Charles Ramsey of South Carolina. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Liberty Chapel with the Rev. Mike Willard officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
