Mrs. N.F. Allen
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home in Covington for Mrs. N.F. Allen, 95, of Eatonton who died April 27, 1999 at Lynn Haven Nursing Home in Gray, Ga. The Rev. Bill Berkner will officiate and interment is in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Atlanta. Mary Lynch Allen was a native of Fulton County, Ga., the daughter of James Edward Lynch and Lillie Prickett Lynch. She was the widow of Nim Franklin Allen. She was a long time Atlanta resident. She retired from Southern Bell with 25 years of service. She was the "Sunshine and Telephone Lady" for the Joy Sunday School Class of Mt. Zion U.M. Church and was a member of the Florence Waller Group of Methodist Women. Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter Mrs. John C. (Jessie) Driver of Eatonton and grandson John C. Driver, Jr. of Lithonia, three great-grandchildren John C. (Jay) Driver, III, Jennifer Driver and Jessica Driver, her sister Mrs. Camilla Endsley, Douglasville, brother Patrick Lynch of Morrow. Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home in Covington had charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Roger E. Hodges
Funeral services were held Friday morning at Highland Hills Baptist Church in Macon for Mrs. Roger E. Hodges, 79, of Eatonton, Ga. who died April 19, 1999 at Putnam General Hospital, Eatonton. Interment was in Macon Memorial Park. Laura Conway Hodges was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eatonton and a former member of Highland Hills Church. She was retired from Sears in Macon and was a member of the Sears Retirees Group. She was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors and the Citizens of Georgia Power. Mrs. Rogers was predeceased by her first husband George W. Conway. She is survived by her widower, Roger E. Conway, Eatonton, sons W. Dwight Conway of Rochester, MI, Kenny Hodges, Eatonton, Billy E. Hodges, Macon, brothers Charles J. Smith, Washington, D.C., Robert D. Smith, Fremont, CA., sister, Mildred S. Crawley, Macon, grandchildren, Majela Morris, Jay W. Conway, Warner Robins, Caryn M. Hall, Rochester, MI, John J. Hall, Berkley, MI, Matthew Hall, Germany, Kimberly Giddens, Griffin, Jeffrey Hodges, Marietta, GA and Pamela Taylor, Lititz, PA and 11 great-grandchildren. Hart's Mortuary of Macon had charge of arrangements.
W. Lawrence Owens
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross for W. Lawrence Owens, 78, of Norcross, Ga. who died April 26, 1999. Interment was in Peachtree Memorial Park, Norcross. Mr. Owens served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Norcross Baptist Church. He retired from Dobbins Air Force Base with nine years of civilian service. He is survived by his widow Wilda Wallace Owens, Norcross, his son Louis Duane Owens, Tucker, daughter Ginger Claudine Owens-Aster of Suwanee and two grandchildren Jason Owens and Melissa Owens, Tucker. Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross had charge of arrangements.
Mrs. George Resseau
Mrs. George Resseau, 83, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, April 22, 1999 at the Medical Center of Central GA in Macon. Funeral services were held Sunday, at 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church. Burial in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jones County. The Rev. Wayne Grier officiated. Florine Avant Resseau was a native of Jones County. She was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church. Her parents were the late Joseph Benjamin and Harriet Resseau Avant. Her husband, George Resseau, four brothers and one sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Roger Resseau, Alice Alford and Lillian Fowler, all of Hillsboro, Ester Foster of Gray, Jean Sapp of McDonough and Lynn Turner of Eatonton; grandchildren, Amanda Bridges, Meredith Resseau, Al Foster, III, Andrea Maynard, Jason Foster, Carolyn Powell, Jonathan Alford, Russell Fowler, Michael Fowler, Melissa Jackson, Regina Sapp, Natalie Sapp, Justin Turner and Rebecca Turner; great-grandchildren, Rhett Foster, Grace Foster, Brooke Foster, Allison Maynard, Adam Maynard, Ashley Powell and Jayson Whitson and sister, Virginia Avant Motley of Warner Robins. Serving as pallbearers were Al Foster, III, Jason Foster, Jonathan Alford, Russell Fowler, Michael Fowler, Justin Turner, Kirk Maynard, Doug Bridges, Heath Powell and Jim Strength. Jordan Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
Harry Lee Davis
Harry Lee Davis, 77, of Eatonton died Monday, May 4, 2009, after a long illness.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 20, 1931, in College Park to Jodie Lee and Nora Miller Davis.
He was a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed a 30-year career with Avon Products, retiring as vice president of international sales, Pacific region.
He lived in the Lake Oconee community since 1986. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Eatonton and many local community organizations. Mr. Davis touched many in his life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, compassion and concern for others, always carrying a smile on his face and laughter in his heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julia Anne Davis; a son, Joe (Amy) Davis; a daughter, Wendy (Charles) Mason; a sister, Helen Bever; grandchildren, Morgan and Molly Mason and Carter and Hunter Davis; and five loving nieces and nephews and their children.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 115 N. Madison Ave., Eatonton 31024 or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral services were held the afternoon of May 8 at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating. Burial is in College Park Cemetery, College Park.
Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, 105 Lower Harmony Road, Eatonton, was in charge of arrangements.
Dean K. Richey Jr.
Dean K. Richey Jr., 79, died on Dec. 3, 2008, in Florence, S.C.
Mr. Richey was born in New York City on Oct. 15, 1937, to Dean Kelley Sr. and Glenda Wene Richey.
He leaves his love and memories to his wife Carolyn Robertson Richey and their sons, Dean Kelley Richey III and wife Kimberly and Staff Sgt. Sean David Richey; and grandchildren Lauren and Christopher Richey.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, Eatonton, 105 Lower Harmony Road, Eatonton.
