SALLIE PAGE

Sallie Mae Page, 84, of Trenton died Feb. 5, 2004 in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Trenton and a retired beautician. She was a member of Senior Ladies Sunday School class and a charter member of Trenton First Baptist Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Feb. 8 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with brother Eddie Cantrell and brother Robert Goff officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Trenton First Baptist Church building fund. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

JEREMY SMITH

Jeremy Steve "Smitty" Smith, 26, of Higdon, Ala., died Feb. 3, 2004. Smith was preceded in death by father William Steve Smith, grandfather Walter Higdon, and grandparents William and Ena Smith. Survivors include mother Sheila Smith and grandmother Mary Higdon, both of Higdon, Ala. Funeral services were held Feb. 7 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the brothers Larry Walker, Edwin Spurgeon, and Royce Cornelison officiating. Interment was in Higdon Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

HAROLD BROGDON

Billy Harold Brogdon, 50, of Chattanooga died March 21, 2004. Brogdon was preceded in death by grandfather Lester Roberson, father Woody Brogdon, brother Bobby Brogdon, and son Terry Brogdon. Survivors include mother Clara Brogdon; sisters Susie McCord and Roberta Brock; brothers Willie and Clarence Brogdon; wife Jean Fisk; daughter Kelly Brogdon; step-sons Keith and Kris Baggett; granddaughter Caitlyn Brogdon; grandson Brighten Brogdon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 26 in Turner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga. Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Home in Chattanooga.

CLARA CAMPBELL

Clara Mae Wheeler Campbell, 73, formerly of Trenton died March 22, 2004 at her home in Hixson, Tenn. Campbell was preceded in death by parents William and Clara Wheeler. Survivors include husband Ralph Campbell; daughter and sons-in-law Kay and Troy Holt, Trenton; daughter Gail Hubler, Gulfport, Miss.; son Terry Campbell, West Palm Beach, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Beth Campbell, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; sisters Billie West, Carol Fossett, both of Trenton; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 24 in Tenn. Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Hixon officiating. Interment was in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Homes in Chattanooga.

EVA CARTER

Eva Pauline "Polly" Carter, 72, of Dutton, Ala., died on March 24, 2004 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born May 31, 1931 in McMinville, Tenn., to the late Claude and Nellie Duncan. She married Leonard Carter Jr., in 1947. Carter was preceded in death by husband Leonard Carter Jr. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Diane and Billy Howse of Pisgah, Ala., Susie and Richard Southerland of Fort Payne, Ala.; son and daughters-in-law Michael and Juda Carter, Gadsden, Ala.; son Glenn Carter, Dutton, Ala.; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde and Pearl Duncan of Atlanta, Roy and Betty Duncan of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, Margaret and Byron Brown, and Sue Bramblett. Funeral services were held March 26 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Smith and the Rev. Randy Brown officiating. Interment was in Dutton Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

RUTH STEVENS

Ruth Ivy Stevens, 80, of Trenton died March 27, 2004 following an illness. She was of the Baptist faith. Stevens was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Wood, five brothers and four sisters. Survivors include husband Hillard Stevens; daughters Patricia Melton, Trenton, Kim Donahue, Ooltewah, Tenn.; sons Allen and Kenny Stevens, both of Trenton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 29 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Russell officiating. Interment was in Gib-Dock Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

VERBIE THURMOND

Verbie "R.C." Thurmond, 69, of Pisgah, Ala., died March 21, 2004 at his residence. He was a member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church in Pisgah, Ala. Thurmond was preceded in death by parents Riley and Launer Thurmond, wife Linda Thurmond, son Rayburn Thurmond, step-daughter Martha David, brothers Wilbur, Berlon, and Berthel Thurmond, sisters Ester Holcomb and Miley Owens, and grandson Justin Smith. Survivors include step-sons Bobby Smith, Pisgah, Ala., Terry Smith, Henagar, Ala.; step-daughter Mary Thornhill, Rosalie, Ala.; brother Arlon Thurmond; nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 23 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doc butler and the Rev. Buddy Keith officiating. Interment was in Friendship Cemetery in Pisgah, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

ROBERT CHRISTIANSEN

Robert "Bob" A. Christiansen, 65, of Marietta died May 29, 2004. He was a member of the Friendship Assembly of God Church in Marietta. Christiansen was preceded in death by father Arthur Christiansen and sister Barbara O'Connell. Survivors include his Annette Christiansen, Marietta; son Rob Christiansen, Marietta; daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Jack Long, Bryant, Ala., Erin and Kenneth Salmon, Chickamauga; daughters Anna Christiansen, Marietta, Erika Christiansen, Galax, Va.; sisters Sharon Berkland, Eau Claire, Wisc., Veronica Gregory, Rogersk Ark.; mother June Christiansen, Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 1 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Nichols officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

JIMMY EDWARDS

Jimmy H. Edwards, 86, of Pisgah, Ala., Rosalie Community, died May 26, 2004 in Scottsboro, Ala. He was a member of the Macklin Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran. Edwards was preceded in death by parents Walter and Margie Edwards, wife Daisey Edwards and four sisters. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law James and Kathy Edwards, Pisgah, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Douglas Farmer, Pisgah, Ala.; brother W.L. "Bill" Edwards, Stevenson, Ala.; sister Florence Powell, Limrock, Ala.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson. Funeral services were held May 28 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Durham and the Rev. Bill Bass officiating. Interment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

JOHN HALL III

John Earl Hall III, 49, of Trenton died May 22, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services were held May 26 in Turner Funeral Home Dodds Avenue Chapel. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Home in Chattanooga.

GARRETT MORRIS

Garrett Adam Goodner Morris, 19 months, died May 22, 2004. Survivors include parents Erica Goodner and Shawn Morris, both of Chattanooga; grandparents Charles Goodner, Bruce Morris, both of Chattanooga, Tina and Gary McBryar, Trenton, Pam and Carl Hammontree, Ringgold; great-grandparents R.P. and Oliye Goodner, Chattanooga, Elsie Thompson, Rossville, Virginia Schommer, Greensboro, N.C. and Oma McBryar, Trenton; several cousins, uncles and aunts. Funeral services were held May 28 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jake Carroll and Pastor Laymond Willoughby officiating. Interment was in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

IRENE PADGETT

Irene Padgett, 69, of Pisgah, Ala. died May 25, 2004 in Birmingham, Ala. She was a retired deputy clerk in the Dekalb County Circuit Clerk's office. Survivors include son William Padgett Jr., Chesapeake, Va.; daughter Cynthia Murray, Cloudland; brothers Robert Long, Charlotte, N.C., Bill Long, Concord, N.C.; sisters Beth Martin, Henagar, Ala., Jean White, Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 28 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kerry Bryant officiating. Interment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

MARY SMARTT

Mary Frances Smartt, 67, of Trenton died May 30, 2004. She was a member of Trenton First Baptist Church. She was retired from Shaw Industries after 31 years of service. Smartt was preceded in death by son James Sloan. Survivors include husband Thomas Smartt, Trenton; daughters and sons-in-law Paulette and Ken Tullis, Trenton, Angela and Gordon Geralds, Ooltewah, Tenn.; daughter Sondra Sloan, Chattanooga; mother Irene Brewer, Trenton; sister Inez Huling, Woodstock; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held today in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Goff and the Rev. Dewayne Roberson officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

W. EUGENE TERRELL

W. Eugene Terrell, 75, of Valley Head, Ala., died May 30, 2004. He was a member of Lee's Chapel Baptist Church in Valley Head, Ala., and a member of the Valley Head Masonic Lodge. He was a Shriner in the Cahaba Shrine Temple in Huntsville, Ala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a welder with 30 years of service at the Chrysler Corp., in Detroit, Mich. Terrell was preceded in death by parents David and Rosie Terrell; brother William Terrell. Survivors include wife Ruth Terrell, Valley Head, Ala.; daughter Phyllis Bailey, Mentone, Ala., Shirley Loudermilk, New Orleans, La.; step-children, Phyllis Lewis and Jimmy Hester, both of Valley Head, Ala., Vickie Biddle, Birmingham, Ala.; brothers Wayne Joiner, Warren, Mich., Tony Joiner, Albertville, Ala., Larry Joiner, Bucks Pocket, Ala.; sisters Jessie Halteman, Rock Island, Tenn., Carrie Merrick, Hopkinsville, Ky., Ann Brown, Ider, Ala., Janice Jenkins, boaz, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Interment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Pisgah, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

DONALD WHEELER

Donald Blain Wheeler, 72, of Trenton died May 25, 2004. He was a lifelong resident of Trenton, was retired from Uniform Rental Service, was formerly employed with the Dade County Sheriff's Department and was a member of the Magby Gap Church of Christ. Wheeler was preceded in death by parents Issac and Inez Wheeler; brothers I.O. Wheeler Jr., and Scott Wheeler. Survivors include his wife Otelia Wheeler; sons Tony and Michael Wheeler, both of Trenton; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Rhonda Wheeler, Trenton, Daniel and Missy Wheeler, Appomattox, Va.; daughter and son-in-law Becky and John Wallin, Trenton; brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Sandra Wheeler, Trenton; sisters Jo Buffington and Faye Lacy, both of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 27 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Minister Cordell Holloway and the Minister Clarence Gates and the Minister Jeff Brown officiating. Interment was in Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

HILLARD WHITLEY

Lloyd Hillard Whitley, 61, of Trenton died May 25, 2004 at his residence. Whitley was preceded in death by parents Robert and Pauline Whitley, son James Whitley, and brother Barney Whitley. Survivors include his wife Azure Whitley, Trenton; son Lloyd Whitley Jr., Trenton; daughter Sabrina Whitley, Trenton; grandchildren, Beth, Lloyd, Haley, Taylor, and Amy Whitley; one great-grandson; brother Dillard Whitley, Higdon, Ala.; sisters Dorcas Pritchett, Jonesboro, Susie McLain, Scottsboro, Ala., Lona Smith, Riverdale, Joyce Rogers, Higdon, Ala., Helen Willmon, Scottsboro, Ala. Funeral services were held May 27 in Brown's Chapel Holiness Church with the Rev. J.B. Pritchett, the Rev. Larry Walker, the Rev. Oron Whitley and the Rev. Guindal Knight officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

Daniel Lee "Danny" Williams, 43, of Cartersville, died May 28, 2004. He graduated from Lookout Valley High School. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include parents Lee and Shelia Williams, Wildwood; brothers Mike Blackburn, Manchester, Tenn., Bryan Williams, Wildwood; sisters Teresa Williams, Manchester, Tenn., Mylinda Daniels and Debra Phillips, both of Jasper, Tenn.; grandmother, Julia Powers, Manchester, Tenn.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 30 in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Chambers officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

JAMES HELMS

James Howard Helms, 76, of Trenton died Aug. 6, 2004. He was a retired store manager for Otasco in Chattanooga, a home builder and real estate developer. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Survivors include wife Melba Helms; daughters Brenda Carlisle, LaGrange, Theresa Glick, Carrolton; son Paul Helms, Chattanooga; sisters Winnie Brown, Ruby Richardson, both of Austell, Mary Black, Senora; brother Jay Helms, Austell; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Eudy and the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. Interment was in Sarah's Chapel Cemtery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.
