Laura ‘Pete’ Mancil Hudepohl
Laura "Pete" Mancil Hudepohl, age 70, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Saint Marys.
Hudepohl, a native of Atkinson County, was born on Aug. 29, 1935, to the late Timothy and Nancy Estelle Wright Mancil. She was a homemaker and widow of the late John Henry Hudepohl.
Survivors include: Her sons Darrell Davis of Kingsland and James William Davis of Ludowici; her daughter Carolyn Ann Jenkins of Ludowici; her sisters Waunell Hanner of Douglas, Catherine Gates of Cana, Va., and Faye Chaney of Nicholls; her brother Edward Mancil of Newton; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at Fales Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Edgar Musgrove officiating.
Soloist Rick Griswold rendered "Mama’s Prayers," "Amazing Grace" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain," with Brenda Moon accompanying at the piano. Interment followed in the Arna Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Darrell Davis, James Davis, Jason Sweat, Carl Sweat, John Sweat and James Sweat.

Mason Lee Tanner Jackson, age 2 months, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday, March 22 at Savannah Memorial Health University Service.
Born Dec. 31 in Irwin County, he is the son of Leroy Darryl and Amanda Dee Hiers Jackson. His grandfather, Randal Edmond Hiers, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: His parents Darryl and Amanda Jackson of Douglas; his brothers Gavin Jackson and Jagger Jackson of Douglas; his grandparents Pam and Tommy Newbern of Douglas, Teresa Bennett of Douglas and Leroy Jackson of Douglas; his great-grandparents Iris Spivey of Waycross, Dobby Bennett and Carolyn Bennett of Douglas; his uncles Randall Hiers, Michael Bennett and Carl Musgrove of Douglas; his aunts Leann Hiers, Kimbra Jackson and Misty Musgrove of Douglas; and his cousins Hannah Austin and Skylar Hiers of Douglas.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m Sunday, March 26 at Trinity Non-Denominational Church, with Rev. Floyd Musgrove officiating.
Special taped music included “If Heaven," “Who You’d Be Today," “The Broken Road” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain." Also, soloist Misty Musgrove sang "Jesus Take The Wheel." Burial followed in the Salem Church Cemetery near Douglas.

Billy Wayne Lytle
Billy Wayne Lytle, age 21, of Douglas, passed away on Tuesday, March 21 at Coffee Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Lytle, a native of Coffee County, was born Oct. 5, 1984. His grandparents, Toby Burch, and Luther and Corrine Spires preceded him in death. His church membership was at Faith Mission Assembly of God.
Survivors include: His mother and stepfather Darlene and Donald Moore of Alma; his father and stepmother John William and Melissa Lytle of Douglas; his brothers John Wesley Lytle of Jesup and Christopher Jerome Lytle of Douglas; his stepbrothers Bryan McMillan and Michael Caves of Douglas; his half-sisters Ashley Moore of Alma and Meisha Lytle of Douglas; his grandparents Betty Burch and Vivian Youngblood of Douglas; his stepgrandparents Mackey and Rachael Caves of Douglas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at the the Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Elaine Keene officiating.
Soloist Linda Schwindle sang “Wish You Were Here” and there were taped selections of “So Hard To Say Good-by to Yesterday" and "Peace In The Valley." Graveside services with a taped selection of “I’ll Be Back” was provided by his family.

Lela Spivey Vining Holton Webb
Lela Spivey Vining Holton Webb, age 94, of Douglas, passed away on Saturday, March 25 at her home after an extended illness.
Webb, a native of Brantley County, was born on Aug. 7, 1911, the daughter of the late Leonard and Leada Carver Spivey.
She was the widow of the late Ray Francis Webb, the late Ernest H. Holton and the late Rev. Walter Vining. Her son, Gene Vining, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Tanner Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Her daughter Betty V. Stewart of Douglas; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; her sisters Alene Meeks of Martinez, Doris Tyson of Blackshear and Lounell Parrish of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 27 at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating.
Scott and Joyce Roberts sang "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” and “Sweet Beulah Land." Also, the congregation sang “Amazing Grace” with Scott Roberts, pianist.

Stan Harold Vickers, age 44, of Douglas, passed away on Friday, March 24 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Vickers, a native of Coffee County, was born Sept. 22, 1961, the son of Harold Henry Vickers and the late Anna Faye Wall Vickers. He was a carpenter and a member of Covenant Christian Church.
Survivors include: His wife Denise Reeves Vickers of Douglas; his sons Marcus Scott Vickers of Pearson and Christopher Shane Vickers of Douglas; his father Harold Vickers and stepmother Marguerite Vickers of Douglas; his father-in-law Richard Reeves; his brother Van T. Bobby Jack Davis
Bobby Jack Davis, Sr., age 72, of Nicholls, passed away on Saturday, April 15 at his home after an extended illness.
Davis, a native of Ware County, was born Aug. 7, 1933, the son of the late Jordan Stafford and Pearl Eunice Lynn Davis.
He was an employee of Champion Company and retired after 29 years. A United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Bushy Creek Gospel Bluegrass Band and the Nicholls Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include: His wife Mary Frances Davis of Nicholls; his son Bobby Jack Davis, Jr., and his wife Stacy of Nicholls; his daughter Nina Gail Simpson and her husband Bill of Millwood; his brother William Davis of Knoxville; his sister Carolee King of Waycross; and his grandchildren Aaron Simpson, Kassidy Davis and Jordan Davis.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, April 17 at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Ricky Knox and Rev. Tony Comer officiating.

George Wesley Jordan, age 68, of Pearson, passed away Saturday, April 15 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Jordan, a native and lifelong resident of Atkinson County, was an auto mechanic. He was the son of the late Joe Jordan and the late Arminda Harrell Jordan, and the widower of the late Mary Alice Jackson Jordan. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: His sons Larry Neal Jordan of Douglas, Kenneth Earl Jordan, Steve Allen Jordan and Phillip Greg Jordan, all of Pearson; his daughter Teresa Diane Jordan of Pearson; his sister Latisha White of Waycross; seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Clyde Purvis officiating. Rev. Jimmy Jordan presented the poem "Papa." A special hymn, "Amazing Grace," was presented by the congregation and led by Rev. Jimmy Jordan. Prelude and postlude soft hymns were presented by pianist Betty Smith. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Atkinson County, with Rev. Jimmy Jordan in charge of the committal services.

Mona G. Purvis
Mona G. Purvis, age 63, of Ocilla, passed away Monday, April 17 at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Purvis was born on May 27, 1942 in Irwin County to the late Odis and Cornelia Edenfield Purvis. She had lived in the community all of her life.
Purvis was a 1960 graduate of Irwin County High School and attended business school. She was a former caregiver at Christian Caregivers in Peachtree City and former bookkeeper for Colony Home and Life Care Center, both in Fitzgerald. Purvis attended the Ocilla Church of God.
Survivors include: Her daughter and son-in-law Debbie and David Wilson of Douglas; her grandsons Christopher Michael and Kyle Culleny; her sisters Betty Jo McGovern of Ocilla and Jackie Evans of Stockbridge. Purvis was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, at 3 p.m. at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with Rev. Clayton Dowd and Rev. Toby Gale officiating. Interment will follow in the Elam Harper Cemetery.

Mr. William Byron Grennell, age 93, of Douglas, passed away on Saturday, April 8, at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Grennell a native of Onondaga County, New York, is the son of the late Dwight Arthur and Berdina Alice Benedict Grennell.
A son, Arthur Byron Grennell and a brother, Otis Grennell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: brother Albert Grennell of Marcellus, N.Y.; grandchildren, Cheryl (Woody) Foreman of Broxton; Susan (Mickey) Grennell Webb of Holden Beach, N. Jane Rogers Steverson, age 80, of McRae, died Wednesday, April 19.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at Blockhouse Baptist Church with a graveside funeral service at 11 a.m. in the church cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Steverson was the daughter of the late Clement and Millie Burch Rogers. The wife of the late Amos Steverson, she was a homemaker and a member of McRae First Baptist Church.
Surviving include : Her daughter Dr. Millie S. Perry of Vidalia; her son Dr. Leonard A. Steverson of Douglas; her sister Lillian Clements of McRae; her grandchildren Jesse H. Perry, Creed C. Perry, Elizabeth N. McArthur and Misty D. Steverson; and her great-grandchildren Shelby Perry, Haley Perry, Ashton Steverson, Colin McArthur and Trent Harper.

Cara Shaye Glover
Cara Shaye Glover brought joy into many lives on May 24, 2004. This little angel that was given to us flew back home on April 10.
She was proceeded in death by her grandfather Alvin Glover, her big brother Joshua Crigger, her aunt Anita Glover Calhoun and her uncle Michael Glover.
She leaves behind to treasure her precious memories her loving parents Mark and Anita Glover; her big brothers Joseph Crigger and Antwan Hicks; her big sister Ahriya Washington; her grandparents Judith and Jerome McDuffie of Rhine, Evone Glover of Douglas, and Joseph and Elaine Crigger of Holly Springs, N.C.; her aunts and uncles Emma Glover, Paula Simpson, and Barbara Gibson, all of Douglas, Patricia Austin of Bowling Green, Ky., Rebecca Clemons, Jerome McDuffie, Jr. and Reginald McDuffie, all of Rhine, Thomas Crigger, Jessica Crigger, both of Holly Springs, N.C., Vivian Glover, Alvin Glover, Jr., both of Miami, Willie F. Calhoun Sr. of Waycross; and a host of cousins, family, and friends who will miss her greatly.

Marilyn C. King, age 76, of Fitzgerald, passed away Thursday, April 20, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
King was born on May 29, 1929 in Coffee County to the late Benjamin and Fannie Kirkland Carelock. She was the widow of the late Paul "Son" King and a homemaker. She had lived in the community most of her life and was a former resident of Wilcox County and Coffee County.
King is survived by her son Willis Paul King of Abbeville; her daughter Brenda Pope Rossi of Pompano Beach, Fla., six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Ginger Harper of Winter Haven, Fla., and Latrell English of Lilburn.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 22, at 3 p.m. at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County.

Martha Thomas Carithers Lott, age 69, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday, April 19 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas Georgia.
Lott, a native of Coffee County, was born August 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Jim and Lessie Clements Thomas. She was a homemaker, the widow of the late Arlie Lott, and was a member of the holiness Baptist faith.
Survivors include: Her daughters Jean Douglas and Mary Jo Hutto of Douglas; her sons Leon Wiley Carithers of Nahunta, James Carl Carithers of Nicholls; her extended family includes Jannell Fussell of Ambrose and Arlene Miller of Martinez; her sisters Thelma Norris Henderson of McRae and Vicey McNabb of West Green; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Oryce Dykes Harper, age 96, of Douglas, passed away on Sunday, March 19 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Harper, a native of Coffee County, was born on Dec. 21, 1909, the daughter of the late Anderson and Addie Lewis Dykes. She was a homemaker, the widow of the late Ivey Warren Harper and a member of the Broxton Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Her daughters Carol Cooper of Hartwell and Joyce Harper Henson of Macon; her daughter-in-law Sue Harper of Broxton; her sister Mary Dozier of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandchildren Ivey Rep Harper, Monte A. Harper, Cheyenne Adkins, Rex Harper Farmer, Mike Farmer, Scott Farmer, Lane Farmer, Damion Farmer, Fara Poole, Don Anderson, Gayle White, Tamra Tucker and several great-grandchildren. Harper was preceded in death by a son, R.E. Harper.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at the Broxton First Baptist Church, with Rev. Judson Blackstock officiating.
