Angelina Wilson Presley
Angelina Wilson Presley was born on October 22. 1954 in Douglas to the late Malachi and Hattie Mae Wilson. She was married to Valgene Presley on September 24, 1980. In this union, two children were born.
On April 19, her life came to a close at her home. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of House of God Holiness Church in Willacoochee, under the leadership of Bishop Viola Jackson. She was a faithful member.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her loving and devoted husband Valgene Presley; her daughters Shenna and Olivia Presley, both of Willacoochee; her sons Eric Presley of Athens, Michael Presley of Douglas and Larry Presley of Brunswick; her sisters Savannah Burke of Thomasville, Essie Debo and Caretha Hill, both of Coolidge, and Jonnnie Mae Rogers of Willacoochee; her brother Rev. Otis Wilson of Brunswick; her mother-in-law Mrs. Elnora Brown Wilson, who proceeded her in death; her sisters-in-law Patricia Ray of Jacksonville, Fla., Ruby Presley and Tangie Presley of Philadelphia and Dorothy Presley of Jacksonville, Fla.; her special nephews Lenard Griffin and Gary Rogers; her special nieces Polly Reives and Pamela Deberry; six grandchildren and a host of nieces. nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors; her special friends Sarah Stanley, Mary Bailey and Louise Jones; and two special god-children Travon Ubanks and Cassandra McTear.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the House of God Church in Willacoochee, with Bishop Viola Jackson officiating. The congregation enjoyed special selections by the House of God choir, the nieces and soloist Sis. Polly Reives.
Burial followed in the Death Aid Cemetery in Willacoochee.
Honorary pallbearers included Marcus Reives, Kenny Burkes, Cornelius Rogers, Lenard Griffin, Felton Wilson, Carlos Reives, Johnny Rogers, Gary Rogers, John Wilson and David Hill, Jr.
Active pallbearers included Curtis Hicks, Kunta Johnson, Jonathan Deberry, Roy Day, Leroy Jones, Thaddaus Spencer and Patrick Jackson.

Rodney Bruce Wagaman
Rodney Bruce Wagaman, age 64, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away on Sunday, April 30, at home after an extended illness.
Wagaman, a native of Franklin County, Pa., was born on Sept. 28, 1941. He is the son of the late Bruce Daniel Wagaman and a member of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include: His wife Susan S. Wagaman of Jacksonville, Fla.; his daughter Stephanie Ritchie of Jupiter, Fla.; his son Michael Wagaman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; his step-sons Eric Stanford and Michael Jennings of Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother Ruth Naomi Wagaman of Waynesboro, Pa.; his brother Donald and wife Monta Sue Wagaman of Douglas; his sister Deborah and husband Johnny Thompson of Wray; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Douglas City Cemetery, with Dr. John Dobbins and Rev. Chip Woodworth officiating.
Soloist John Glosson sang "Amazing Grace” at the graveside.
Active pallbearers included Johnny Wicker, Johnny Thompson, Jr., Phil Valdez and Wes Brown.

Clyde W. McGovern
Mr. Clyde W. McGovern, age 86 of Broxton, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 29, at the residence of his daughter and caregiver, Mrs. Betty Jo Milhollin, following an extended illness.
Mr. McGovern, a native of Broxton and Coffee County, was a retired machinist. He was the son of the late Patrick McGovern, and the late Victoria Threatt McGovern and the widower of the late Corren Johnson McGovern. He retired from Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Upon retiring, he moved to Wray and enjoyed gardening and growing peaches. After the death of his wife in 2003, he moved to Broxton to reside with his daughter. Mr. McGovern was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two daughters, Betty Joe Milhollin of Broxton, and Jeri L. Meeks of Orlando, Fla.; one step-son, Albert Sumner of Warner Robins; three sisters, Myrtice Broom, Liz Malcolm and Wilma Anderson, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Grace Newell, and a brother, Louis M. McGovern.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with the eulogy being presented by his daughter, Betty Jo Milhollin. Prelude and postlude soft selections were rendered by Willifred Thompson, pianist. Interment followed in the Wray Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Wray.
Active pallbearers were Eddie Vickers, Sherell Day, Curtis Newell, Geraldine Newell, Kathy Ricketson, and Wallace Newell.
Mr. McGovern was a U.S. Army veteran.

Celie Ann P. Wilson
Mrs. Celia Ann Porter Wilson, age 61, of Broxton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Wilson, a native of Coffee County, was born Dec. 22, 1943, the daughter of the late Ida Louise Spivey Porter and the late Clinton Porter. She was a homemaker and a member of Evangel Tabernacle.
Survivors include: her husband, James Ed Wilson of Broxton; two daughters, Teresa Weathers and husband Teddy of Douglas, and Angie King and husband Johnny of Broxton; two sons, Robert Wilson and Billy Wilson and wife LaDonna of Douglas; mother, Louise Porter; one sister, Shirlene Gusman of Douglas; two brothers, Danny Porter and Joe Porter both of Douglas; grandmother, Gertrude Spivey of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at The Evangel Tabernacle with Rev. R.L. Wiley officiating. Special taped selections of “Go Rest High On That Mountain,” “Peace Speaker,” and “Precious Memories” were rendered. Also the congregation sang “Amazing Grace.” Interment followed in the Roxie Mae Church Cemetery near Nicholls.
Active pallbearers were Joey Porter, Jamie Porter, Bo Porter, Earl Wilson, George Hill, Marcus Whitfield and Tiny Sikes.

Lenora Rozar
Mrs. Lenora Pauline Gulledge Rozar, age 68, of Douglas, passed away on Monday, Aug. 29, at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Rozar, a native of Evans County, was born December 11, 1936, daughter of the late Lloyd Hollingsworth and Katie Katherine Wood Gulledge. She was a merchant’s specialty buyer and her membership was at the Claxton Methodist Church.
Survivors include: husband, William J. Rozar, Douglas; son, Marty Rozar, Douglas; brother, Lloyd Gulledge Jr., Rincon; sister, Nell Lewis, Claxton; brother-in-law, Fred Brewton, Claxton; several nieces and nephews.
A brother, William Jimmy Gulledge, and sisters, Vera Moore and Elise Brewton, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Sellers officiating. Carolyn Wright, Chris Purvis and Faye Adams sang “He’ll Hold To My Hand” with Lois Mills, pianist. Also, a taped selection of “The Dance” by Garth Brooks was provided. Burial followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: James Solomon, Jeff Moss, Earl Peterson, Carl Driggers, Christopher White and Raymond Luke. Honorary pallbearers were: John Jowers, Terry Cox, Louise Ward, Donna Book and Elaine Fox.

Mildred Courson Jordan
Mrs. Mildred Courson Jordan, age 84, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Jordan, a native of Coffee County, was born on Aug. 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Jess E. and Sally Dees Courson. She was a homemaker and the widow of the late Charles Thomas Jordan.
Survivors include: two sons, Don Jordan and wife Sheryl, and Mark Jordan, all of Douglas; two grandchildren, Dasha Spivey and Michael Jordan; one great-grandchild, Kayla Simpson of Douglas; one sister, Pauline Miklos of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 28, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Special taped selections of “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” and “Wish You Were Here” were provided. Interment followed in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla.

Jurelle “Judy” G. Hand
Mrs. Jurelle “Judy” Girtman Hand, age 77, of Douglas, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Mrs. Hand, a native of Jeff Davis County, was born on Jan. 25, 1928, the daughter of the late James Hendrix and Leona Brewer Girtman. She was a homemaker, a retired school teacher and the widow of the late Herbert Hand.
Survivors include: four daughters, Peggy Reitz of Charlottesville, Va., Pattie Morris, Anna Anderson and Elaine Hinson all of Douglas; one son, Joey Hand of Douglas; four sisters, Nettie Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Belva Lee, Jimmy Kight and Lois Atkinson all of Broxton; one brother, Billy Girtman of the Snipesville community; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Saint Paul Catholic Church with Father Dan O’Connell officiating. Interment followed in the Girtman Family Cemetery in Jeff Davis County.

Betty Harkleroad Burkett
Betty Harkleroad Burkett, 72, of Gray son, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2004.
Mrs. Burkett was a native of Coffee County, Ga., and a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Bob Burkett; two sons, Hugh Burkett and wife, Melody, and Ronald Burkett and wife, Sharon; two daughters, Angelia Spance and husband, Blane, and Julie Osborn and husband, Mark; ten grandchildren: Chad, Katie, Ronnie, Jessica, Daniel, Kimberly, Mandy, Laura, Michelle and Matthew; two brothers, Fernell Harkleroad and Stanley Harkleroad; two sisters, JoAnn Burkett and Louise Deen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, in Lawrenceville, Ga. Interment followed in Gwinnett Memorial Park. Those desiring may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Pkwy., Ste. 260, Duluth, Ga. 30097.

Vernon Hersey
Mr. Vernon Hersey, 82, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Sunday, November 21, 2004, at the Morris Center in Jacksonville, Fla., following an extended illness.
Mr. Hersey, a native of Ware County, Ga., the son of the late Will Hersey and the late Susie Estelle White Hersey. He had previously been employed with a construction company in Rockford, Illi., for 38 years prior to moving to Florida, was a member of Trinity Christian Fellowship Church of Jacksonville, Fla.
Survivors include: his wife, Rev. Olis W. Hersey of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Gail Southerland and husband Gary of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson, Gabriel Tamanauskas of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Doris Bryant and Carleen Hottendorf, both of Hermiston, Oreg., and Carol Spell of Baxley, Ga.; one brother, Carl Rowell of Rockford, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Hersey.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Rowell and Rev. Edgar Musgrove officiating. Special musical selections, “How Great Thou Art” and “Where the Milk and Honey Flows,” were rendered by his daughter, Gail Southerland and Paula Rowell, and “I’m Nearer Home Than I Was Yesterday,” was presented by his daughter, Gail Southerland, Paula Rowell and Rev. Carl Rowell. Piano music for the prelude and postlude was rendered by Phyllis Ricketson. Interment followed in the Satilla Memorial Gardens.

Mary Louise Thomas
Mrs. Mary Louise Thomas, 62, of Douglas Ga., passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Thomas, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born June 25, 1942, the daughter of the late Hillie and Jennette Walker Thomas. She was a retired bookkeeper. Survivors include: one daughter, Lilla Jenie Smith of Moultrie, Ga.; two sons, Glen Daniel Smith of Moultrie, Ga., and Darin Hutcheson of Tifton, Ga.; two brothers, Wesley Thomas of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jimmy Thomas of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Lovie Ann Riggins of Douglas, Ga.; and three grandsons, William Arnold, Christopher Arnold and Michael Arnold, all of Moultrie, Ga. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Thomas, and two sisters, Evelyn Thomas and Dorothy Mae Yarberry.
Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2004, at the Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Wiley officiating. The congregation sang “Amazing Grace” at the graveside.
Active pallbearers were Daniel Atkinson, Tony Hand, Don Lott, Fiore Barile, Aden Griffis, Henry Cohen, and Danny Lott.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the AA, New Hope Recovery, and Williams Plus.

Sadie Cady
Ms. Sadie Lee Davis Cady, 71, of Douglas Ga., passed away on Monday, November 15, 2004, at home after an extended illness.
Ms. Cady, a native of Atkinson County, Ga., was born February 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Alfred and Lura Darley Davis. She was the widow of the late Edward B. Cady and had worked in the school lunchroom in the Coffee County School System retiring after 22 years of service. Her church membership was at the Jowers Chapel Church in Axson, Ga.
Survivors include: two brothers, Owen Davis and wife Lucille, and Carl Davis, all of Douglas Ga.; one sister, Florence Hughes of Nashville, Ga., several nieces and nephews. Ms. Cady was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel Davis, Hiram Davis, Omas Davis and one sister, Lila Carver Hursey.
Funeral services were held 4 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2004, at the Jowers Chapel Church near Axson, Ga., with Rev. Gene Chaney, Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Special music was provided by Carolyn Wright, Chris Purvis, Faye Adams and Bonnie Musgrove sang, “I’ll Be Waiting At The River For You,” “I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven” and “Far Away” with Bonnie Musgrove accompanying at the piano. Graveside services were held with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. Interment followed in the Jowers Chapel Cemetery.

Sarah (Sadie) White
Ms. Sarah (Sadie) White, 70, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, November 22, 2004 at Sunbridge Care and Rehab Center in Hazlehurst, Ga., following an extended illness.
A native of Atkinson County, Ga., Ms. White was born on October 28, 1934, the daughter of John Glenn and Allie Mae Wilson White. She was a retired restaurant cook.
Survivors include: two sons, Hiram Glenn Mullis and wife Wilma of Nashville, Tenn., and Clarence Mullis, Jr., of Pearson, Ga.; one daughter, Shirley Mobley and husband Rex of Corant, Miss.; one brother, Jesse Lehi White and wife Billie of Pearson, Ga.; five sisters, Janie “Lucille” Herrin of Pearson, Ga., Hazel Moulder of Bruton, Ala., Loretta Green and husband Brenton of St. Mary’s, Ga., Betty Ann Clement and husband Marvin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Ruby Bragg of Axson, Ga.; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ms. White was preceded in death by four brothers, John E. May, John Glenn White, Nephi Edwin White and Joseph Hope White and two sisters, Melda Colleen White and Cappie White Mizell.
Graveside funeral services and interment for Ms. White were held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2004, at Utah Cemetery in Axson, Ga., with Rev. Hardy Crosby and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Special musical selections included “Where Angles Fear To Tread,” and “Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold This Body Down,” rendered by Allen Jewell, Jessie Wayne Jewell and Christina Harper, with taped accompaniment.
Active pallbearers were Joel White, Mickey Herrin, Bryan Schotsch, James Frost, Fred Murray and Kenny Vining.

Tillman Spires
Mr. Tillman Spires, 68, of Douglas, Ga., passed away on Monday, November 22, 2004, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mr. Spires, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born December 12, 1935, the son of the late Warren and Georgia Ann Bailey Spires. He was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Sallie Ann Livingston Spires of Douglas, Ga., two daughters, Lesia Woods and Peggy Sue Harrell, both of Douglas, Ga.; two brothers, Sage Spires of Broxton, Ga. and J. L. Spires of Tavoris, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Five brothers, Roscoe Spires, Jimmy Spires, Luther Spires, R. D. Spires, and Curtis Spires, and two sisters, Mattie Lou Burke and Emile Griffis, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Burke and Rev. Jimmy Hollis officiating. Faye Adams, Chris Purvis and Carolyn Wright sang, “Amazing Grace” and “Serenaded By Angels,” with Lois Mills accompanying at the piano. Interment followed in the Deberry Church Cemetery in Coffee County, Ga.
