Johnny J. Nugent
Mr. Johnny J. Nugent of Wichita, Kansas passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kansas, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
A native of Brunswick, Ga., Mr. Nugent was born June 20, 1948, the son of James Ira and Ethel McDonald Nugent. He was employed by Boeing Aircraft as a tool and die machinist. He was a Masonic Lodge member, a Shriner, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: two sons, John A. Nugent of Wichita, Kans., and Jason Nugent of Kansas City, Kans.; four brothers, Paul Nugent of Kaw City, Okla., Dan Nugent and wife Doris of Victoria, Tex., James Ira Nugent of Kiln, Miss., and Barney Nugent of Antler, N.D.; and one sister, Boycie Ann Carter of Carriere, Miss.
Funeral services for Mr. Nugent were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 26, 2004, at the Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Marvin LeFrois officiating. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Michelle White, organist. Interment followed in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Roy McDonald, Michael Nugent, Johnny William Nugent, Lloyd McDonald, Paul Nugent II, and Ryan Nugent.

Mr. Lige Crosby
Mr. Lige Crosby, 83, of Axson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at home following an extended illness.
A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Crosby was born June 25, 1921, the son of Hardy and Lorraine Wright Crosby. He was the widower of the late Cecilia Gillis Crosby.
Survivors include: one daughter, Rebecca McKinnon and husband Bobby of Willacoochee, Ga.; one sister, Sarah Mizell of Axson, Ga.; three grandchildren, Selena Youmans and husband Jason of Houston, Tex., Phaedra Forth and husband Bernie and Bobby Kyle McKinnon, all of Willacoochee, Ga.; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Axson, Ga., with Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Special musical selections included “I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven,” rendered by Allen Jewell and “Amazing Grace,” rendered by the congregation. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Johnny Samuel Phillips
Mr. Johnny Samuel Phillips, 67, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Friday, November 19, 2004 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.
Mr. Phillips, a native of Coffee County, Ga.,. was born December 8, 1936, the son of the late Preston Perry, Sr. and Irma Grantham Phillips. He was a waste-water plant operator for the City of Douglas retiring after 34 years. Mr. Phillips had retired from the Georgia Army National Guard after 26 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Florine McKinnon Phillips; one son, Terrell and wife, Denise Phillips of Douglas, Ga.; three daughters, Teresa and husband, Danny Lott of Douglas, Ga., Christy and husband, Adam Driggers of Marietta, Ga., Misty and husband, Carl Williams of Daytona Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Trent Phillips, Laura Beth Phillips, John Carver and Joe Carver; four sisters, Sarah Wiggins, Faye Mote, Mary Evelyn Phillips and Virginia Lewis of Douglas, Ga. One brother, Preston Phillips, Jr. and one sister, Betty J. Wright preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 22, 2004 at the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Ogden and Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating. Soloist, Derrick Soles sang, “Precious Memories”, “Beulah Land” and “I’ll Meet you By The River” with Robyn Vickers, Organist. Internment followed in the New Hope Church Cemetery near Ambrose, Ga.

Carl Standford Douglas
Mr. Carl Standford “C. S.” Douglas, Sr., 57, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2004, at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Douglas, a native of Worth County, Ga., was born January 1, 1947, the son of the late Claude and Sara Dean Dyal Douglas. He was a carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was of the Holiness Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Irene Hutchison Douglas of Douglas, Ga., two daughters, Sabrina Hampton of Mora, Ga., and Dori Douglas of Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Stan Douglas of Germany; five sisters, Betty Joyce Austin of Tifton, Ga. Libby Abdulah of Coco Beach, Fla., Jean Justice of Atlanta, Ga., Hazel Vernon of Tenn., and Linda Morris of Manor, Ga.; three brothers, Dwight Douglas of Broxton, Ga., Larry Douglas and Marvin Douglas both of Douglas, Ga., and six grandchildren. Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by one brother, Lamar Douglas.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., on Sunday, November 21, 2004, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hilton Martin officiating. Nathan and Dedie Greer sang, “Amazing Grace” and “Wish You Were Here,” with Lois Mills, accompanying at the piano. Also, a special taped selection of “Oh What A Savior” was provided. Interment followed in the New Hope Church Cemetery near Ambrose, Ga.

Elizabeth Muller
Mrs. Elizabeth Boling Spain Mueller, 74, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2004, at Baptist Village in Waycross, Georgia. Mrs. Mueller, a native of Petersburg, Virginia, was born May 26, 1930, the daughter of the late George Arthur and Elva Florence Folkes Spain. She was a retired real estate agent.
Survivors include: her husband, Norman Mueller of Douglas, Ga., three daughters, Sheryl Smith of Richmond, Virg., Norma Pope of Douglas, Ga., Elizabeth Paige T'sta of Honduras; one son, Frank Norman Mueller of Fayetteville, N.C.; six grandchildren, James H. Smith, Joy Patterson, Guillermo T'sta, Norman T'sta, Herbert T'sta, and Shonda Wilbourne; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Noval Smith, Jr. officiating. The congregation sang, “Amazing Grace, “Blessed Assurance” and “It Is Well With My Soul” with Lois Mills accompanying at the piano. Interment was held at the Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virg., on Thursday, December 2, 2004.

Mary Louise Floyd
Mrs. Mary Louise Floyd, 62, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga., following an extended illness.
A native of Atkinson County, Ga., Mrs. Floyd was born November 23, 1942, the daughter of Fred and Mary Jane Lott Dillingham. She was a retired rural route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, of the Catholic faith, and the widow of the late Alton Floyd.
Survivors include: two daughters, Damita Jo Gaskins and husband Bobby and Cheryl D. Chancey and husband William, all of Willacoochee, Ga.; three brothers, Quinton Dillingham and wife Tina of Pearson, Ga., Glenn Dillingham and wife Madeline of Axson, Ga., and Harold Dillingham and wife Marteel of Alapaha, Ga.; five grandchildren, Amber Gaskins, Trebor Gaskins, Ashley Jo Floyd, Lee Chancey, and Shelly Chancey; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Dillingham.
Rosary services for Mrs. Floyd were held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Relihan Funeral Home with Father Daniel O’Connell officiating. Graveside services and interment were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2004, at the Willacoochee City Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Fussell, Rev. Jackie Connell and Rev. Kevin Stone officiating. Special musical selections included “Amazing Grace,” rendered by soloist Derrick Soles.

Karl E. McCranie, Sr.
Mr. Karl E. McCranie, Sr., 66, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away Monday, November 22, 2004, at home following an extended illness.
A native of Atkinson County, Ga., Mr. McCranie was born January 10, 1938, the son of Emden and Myrtle Slade McCranie. He had made his home in the Atlanta area before moving back to Willacoochee, Ga., eight years ago. He was retired from the laundry and dry cleaning business and a retired security guard from Langboard Inc. in Willacoochee, Ga. Mr. McCranie was a member of the Willacoochee United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. His first wife, Joan Claxton McCranie, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Gaskins Tucker McCranie of Willacoochee, Ga.; two sons, Karl McCranie, Jr. and wife Jana, and Kirk McCranie, all of Buford, Ga.; one daughter, Tracy Hunt and husband Lanier of Buford, Ga.; four stepchildren, Mike Tucker and wife Patricia, and Mark Tucker and wife Angie, all of Ambrose, Ga., Kathy Farabow and husband Tommy of Pridgen, Ga., and Carmen Day and husband Scott of Ambrose, Ga.; three brothers, Bill McCranie and wife Kay of Willacoochee, Ga., Slade McCranie and wife Margaret of Morven, Ga., and Mike McCranie of Alapaha, Ga.; four grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Willacoochee United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Morrison and Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. The eulogy was given by Mr. Ed Tillman. Special musical selections included “How Great Thou Art” rendered by Craig McKinnon, with Cranford Sutton accompanying at the piano; “I Bowed On My Knees And Cried Holy” rendered by Craig Farr, with taped accompanying “Victory In Jesus” and “Amazing Grace,” rendered by the congregation with Cranford Sutton accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and postlude were provided by Cranford Sutton, pianist. Interment was held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2004, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Duluth, Ga., with Rev. Bobby Nix and Rev. Eddie Morrison officiating.

Herman Ashley Gieger
Mr. Herman Ashley Gieger, 79, of Douglas Ga., passed away on Monday, November 22, 2004, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.
Mr. Gieger, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born July 27, 1925, the son of the late Alvin and Pearlie Adams Gieger. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired insurance agent, and a member at the Douglas First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Alice Leedom Gieger of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Vining and Mary Hutchison, both of Douglas, Ga., special nieces and nephews, “Peanut” Little, Kay Wright and wife Eustace, Walter Hutchison and wife Dorothy, Lawanna Tarrant, Brenda G. Mullis, Ashlee Brooke Mullis, and Darren Hutchison and wife Maria, all of Douglas Ga., Perry Gieger and wife Debra and Teresa Ward and husband Al, all of Dublin Ga., Carlie Vickers and wife Mary of Callahan Fla., Joseph Leedom and wife Beth of Leesburg Fla., William L. Gieger Jr. and wife Caroline of Jonesboro, Ga., and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Gieger was preceded in death by three brothers, William L. Gieger, Sr., Charles W. Gieger and Hershel Gieger.

Bobby Steverson and the congregation sang, “Victory in Jesus” and “When We All Get To Heaven” with Marsha Gilliard accompanying at the piano. Interment followed in the Harrell Grove Church Cemetery.

Charles J. Clary
Charles J. Clary, 81, of Manchester, Ga., passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004 at Warm Springs Medical Center in Warm Springs, Ga.
Mr. Clary was born January 22, 1923, in Mecklinburg County, N.C., the son of John Henry Clary and Fannie Bell Misenheimer Clary. He was retired from CSX Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer. He went to work for the Southern Railway in 1943, and in 1953 signed on with the Atlantic Coast Line and moved to Waycross, Ga. While living in Waycross, he was active as a Coach in Little League softball and baseball. He was an avid baseball player, having played in the American Legion League, he pitched and won several games against Hoyt Wilhelm. In 1966, he transferred to the Atlanta Division of the ACL Railroad and moved to Manchester, Ga., where he retired in 1985. He was a member of Manchester First Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, Director of Brotherhood, helped with the R.A.’s, and often lent a hand in the church kitchen on Wednesday nights.
Mr. Clary was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen and had served the Local Division #779 as President, Secretary and Treasurer and Legislative Representative. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a Mason. Survivors include: his wife, Betty Fite Clary of Manchester; two daughters, Judy West and husband Tony of Douglas, Ga., and Jean Hughes and husband Charles of Huntersville, N.C.; four grandchildren: David Hughes of Va. Beach, VA, Darin Hughes of Catawba, N.C., Chad Mangum of Charlotte, N.C. and Tanya Grantham of Douglas, Ga.; 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three daughters: Carol Frances Clary, Betsy Charlene Clary, and Beverely Sue Clary Mangum.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Manchester First Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Williamson officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Hildebrand. Interment followed in the Meriwether Mausoleum. In leiu of flowers donations may be sent to Manchester First Baptist Church or Vistacare Hospice.
Active pallbearers were Dr. Alan Moore, Rev. Lowery Porter, Karl Watkins, Norman Gibbs, Bill Cravey and Doug Angley.

James Louis Harrison
Bishop James Louis Harrison, of Chester, Pa., passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pa.
Mr. Harrison, a native of Douglas, Ga., was the son of the late James Harrison, Sr., and the late Tabitha Wootson Chandler. He was a graduate of Coffee High School in Douglas, Ga., Eastern Baptist Seminary, the Philadelphia Institute of Arts, and the Full Gospel Baptist Church School of Bishopric in New Orleans, La. Mr. Harrison was the pastor of True Vine Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship in Chester, Pa., for the last 17 years. Previously, he worked as a supervisor at the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Del., where he retired after working there for 24 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Pastor Lessie G. Harrison of Chester, Pa.; six children, Kellie Harrison, Audrey Harrison, and Toia Harrison, all of Chester, Pa., Jay T. Harrison, Sr., and wife, Crystal D., of Williamsburng, Virg., Lisa Harrison-Cobb and husband, James A. Sr., of Wilmington, Del., and Christina Harrison of Newark, Del.; two brothers, Harry "Korin" Harrison of Philadelphia, Pa., and Webster Chandler of Chester, Pa.; four sisters, Mavis White of Rhode Island, Daisy Clark of Atlanta, Ga., Harriet Harrison of Douglas, Ga., and Tammy Broughton of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; nine grandchildren; special family friends, Grace and Robert Johnson of Chester, Pa.; several other relatives.
Jubilee services were held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2004, at First Pentecostal Holy Church in Chester, Pa. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2004, at First Pentacostal Holy Church.
Interment followed in Haven Memorial Cemetery in Chester Township, Pa.

Louise Corbitt Murray
Louise Corbitt Murray, 90, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Murray, a native of Pearson, Ga., was the daughter of the late Thomas S. and Maggie Corbitt. She attended Union Hill Church in Atkinson County, Ga., and the Open Bible Tabernacle of Crawford County.
Survivors include: her husband, Troy Ronald Murray, Sr., of Byron, Ga.; six children, Carol Murray Parrish and husband, Walter, of Centerville, Ga., Troy Ronald Murray, Jr., and wife, Pat, of Lizella, Ga., Ralph Norman Murray and wife, Debra, of Macon, Ga., Lyn Murray Gaff and husband, Wendell, and Larry Floyd Murray and wife, Pamela, all of Perry, Ga., Harry Loyd Murray and wife, Neal, of Byron, Ga.; four sisters, Winnie Harrell and Lou Nell Holman, both of Florida, Willard Vickers of Douglas, Ga., and Ernestine Gilstrap of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Hillman Corbitt of Pearson, Ga.; 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Gordon Murray, and two sisters.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Open Bible Tabernacle of Crawford County on Sandy Point Road. Interment followed at 3 p.m. at Union Hill Church in Atkinson County, Ga.

Mary Lou Alston
Mrs. Mary Lou Alston, 70, of Marlin, Tx., passed away Monday, May 4, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Alston, a native of Denver, Co., was born May 2, 1934, the daughter of the late Herman and Catherine Herbert Giah. She was a registered nurse, serving at Marlin V.A. Hospital for 33 years, and the widow of the late Raymond Altson. She loved sewing, embroidering, watching all sports on television, playing with her beloved dog, "Trixie," and spoiling her grandkids.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike Alston of Waco, Tx., and David Alston of Arlington, Tx.; two daughters, Cathy Latham of Douglas, Ga., and Mary Beth Evans of Bremond, Tx.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and 19 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Hillcrest Cemetery, with Rev. Alfred Gallmeier officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary Lou's name to Providence Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
