Mrs. Vestal Muriel Ellis Kitchens, 91, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga.
Mrs. Kitchens, a native of Jeff Davis County, Ga., was born November 23, 1911, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sophronia Burkett Ellis. She was the widow of the late Ralph Kitchens, a retired Satilla REMC cashier, and a member of Douglas First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: five cousins, Annie Mae Roberts and Mary Lee Daniels, both of Douglas, Ga., Gwen Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla., Noah "Bunny" Burkett, Jr., of Dublin, Ga., and Bill Jarvis of Tacoma, Wa.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Dr. Diskin Morgan, soloist, sang "It Is Well, With My Soul" and "Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus," with Lois Mills accompanying at the piano. Burial followed at the Douglas City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jimmy Roberts, Steve Roberts, Joe Spikes, Jerry Spikes, Keith Hagen, and Jimmy Sammons.

Harvie Levi Mancil
Mr. Harvie Levi Mancil, 49, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away Monday, July 21, 2003, at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Mancil, a native of Atkinson County, Ga., was born September 17, 1953, the son of the late Pearley Mancil. He was a brick mason and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: one son, Harvie Levi Mancil, Jr., of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Mandie Gail Mancil of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Minnie D. Mancil of Willacoochee, Ga.; two brothers, Julian Mancil and Hiram Mancil, both of Willacoochee, Ga.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Faith Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga., with Rev. Andy Day officiating. Special music "Go Rest High on that Mountain" was presented by soloist Derrick Soles with taped accompaniment. Interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mickey Mancil, Henry Mancil, Bobby Shatto, John Bennett, Julian Mancil, Jr., and Jimmy Mixon.

Mr. Johnny Wilburn Seago, 50, of Winchester Drive, Douglas, Ga., passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, at home following a brief illness.
Mr. Seago, a native of Lowndes County, Ga., was born December 22, 1952, the son of Mary Lightsey Seago Smith and the late Wilburn Myddleton Seago. He was a boat factory supervisor with Carolina Skiff, Waycross Ga.
Survivors include: his wife, Pauline Yarberry Seago of Douglas, Ga.; two sons, Blake Seago of Hahira, Ga., and Roman Seago of Lakeland, Ga.; one daughter, Kelly Seago of Lakeland, Ga.; mother, Mary Lightsey Smith of Homerville, Ga.; two sisters, Jo Ann Cooksan of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Mary Lynn McMillan of Homerville, Ga.; three brothers, Gene Seago and Tony Seago, both of Valdosta, Ga., and Mike Seago of Hahira, Ga.; three step-daughters, Debbie Brantley of Valdosta, Ga., Dana Williams of Douglas, Ga., and Cindy Barnwell of Broxton, Ga.; four step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2003, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Lois Mills, pianist, provided soft music for the prelude and postlude. Burial followed at the Bethany Church Cemetery.

Edward "E.J." Rowell
Mr. Edward "E. J." Rowell, 52, of Ambrose, Ga., passed away Monday, July 21, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Fla.
Mr. Rowell, a native of Jeff Davis County, Ga., was born July 2, 1951, son of the late Edward and Bernice Allen Rowell. He was a retired prison guard with the Georgia Department of Corrections and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, June Brantley Rowell of Ambrose, Ga.; one son, Jamie Jordan Rowell of Douglas, Ga.; three daughters, Misty Rowell Fleming and husband, Richard, of Perkinston, Ms., Kelly Rowell Oliver and husband, Quentin, of Collins, Ga., and Kaci Wright of Douglas, Ga.; nine sisters, Cordelia Fylin of Tupelo, Ms., Doretha Mullis of Jesup, Ga., Sue Cofield and Vivian Reed, both of Clairmont, Fla., Verlie Boatright of Hortense, Ga., Helen Tapley of Alexandria City, Al., Clara Gourley and Linda Sweat, both of Douglas, Ga., and Carolyn Nelson of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Larry Rowell of Douglas, Ga., and Charles Rowell of Nahunta, Ga.; five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday,(July 24, 2003, at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church near Ambrose, Ga., with Rev. Edgar Musgrove, Rev. Glenn Fussell, Rev. Huey Nichols, and Rev. L. G. Aldridge officiating. Chris Purvis, Faye Adams, and Carolyn Wright sang "Shake The Master's Hand," with Bonnie Musgrove accompanying at the piano. Also the congregation sang, "Amazing Grace." Burial followed at the Bethany Church Cemetery.

Mr. Woodrow Chaney, 65, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, July 21, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mr. Chaney, a native of Irwin County, Ga., was born August 28, 1937, the son of John Chaney and Myrtle Joiner Chancey Bush. He was a retired carpenter and a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Chaney attended the Fales Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise Chaney of Pearson, Ga.; three sons, James Hursey and wife, Carolyn, of Pearson, Ga., Jimmy Chaney and wife, Lori, of Mt. Vernon, Oh., and Jerome Chaney and wife, Becky, of Pearson, Ga.; two daughters, Glenda Johnson and husband, Leroy, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Laura Jean Salter and husband, Brad, of Gainesville, Ga.; two brothers, James Chaney and Henry Bush, both of Douglas, Ga.; three sisters, Frances Davis and Norman Waldron, both of Douglas, Ga., and Lillie Mae Jenks of Ambrose, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Special music included "Put It In God's Hands" presented by soloist Loretta Miller and "Daddy's Hands" and "Go Rest High on that Mountain" presented by Becky Jowers and Billy Musgrove with taped accompaniment. Mrs. Hortense Wilcox Mobley, 99, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Shady Acres Convalescent Center, Douglas, Ga.
Mrs. Mobley, a native of Appling County, Ga., was born June 3, 1904, daughter of the late Cadmus Madison and Nora Cribb Wilcox. She was a homemaker, the widow of the late Leonard Monroe Mobley, and a member of West Green United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cadwin O'Steen of West Green, Ga., and Elnora Lott of Douglas, Ga.; two sons, Marvin Mobley of Waycross, Ga., and Marcus Mobley of West Green, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2003, at West Green United Methodist Church, with Rev. and Mrs. Elick Bullington officiating. West Green United Methodist and Lone Hill United Methodist Church Choirs sang "No Tears in Heaven," "Living By Faith," and "I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone," with Lisa Batten accompanying at the piano.

Mr. Jimmy Terrell McDonald, 62, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.
Mr. McDonald, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born September 14, 1940, the son of the late Clifton and Mary Kirkland McDonald. He was a retired truck driver, a former bus driver for the Coffee County School System, and was a member at Union Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Fussell McDonald of Douglas, Ga.; one daughter, Angela Harn of Savannah, Ga.; three step-daughters, Donna Lynn Hurley of Douglas, Ga., Connie Smith of Brunswick, Ga., and Karen Smith of Douglas, Ga.; one brother, Edward McDonald of Willacoochee, Ga.; one grandchild and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 11 a.m., at Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Phillip Smith officiating. Soloist Lee Chambers sang, "Amazing Grace" and "Just One Rose Will Do," with Lois Mills accompanying at the piano. Interment followed at Paulk Cemetery near Lax, Ga.

Mabel Guthrie Strickland
Mrs. Mabel Guthrie Strickland, 86, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, July 7, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas following a brief illness.
Mrs. Strickland, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born September 8, 1916, the daughter of Dan and Margaret Smith Tanner. She was a homemaker and had been the manager of Guthrie's Thrifty Store in Pearson for many years before retiring. She was a charter member and, at the time of her death, was the oldest member of Westside Holiness Church. She was the widow of the late Gerald Guthrie and the late Homer Strickland.
Survivors include: four daughters, Gearldine Sears and husband, Jr,. of Davenport, F1a., Anna Luke and husband, Norman, Margaret Smith and husband, Herschel, and Faith Bennett and husband, Grady, all of Pearson, Ga.; four sons, Bill Guthrie and wife, Marie, of Marietta, Ga., Rev. Willie D. Guthrie and wife, Loyce, and Sammy Guthrie and wife, Doris, all of Pearson, Ga., and Bobby Guthrie and wife, Karen, of Douglas, Ga.; 33 grandchildren, 72 great- grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by one son Royce Gerald Guthrie.
Funeral services were held at 4: p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the First Assembly of God Church in Douglas, Ga., with Rev. Edward Day and Rev. Herschel Smith officiating. Granddaughter Tammy Wood read a special poem. Special musical selections included "Beulah Land," rendered by Bobby Guthrie and Gina Hall, "The Dearest Friend," sung by the Westside Holiness Church Youth Choir, and "Amazing Grace," presented by the attending congregation, with Justin McGovern accompanying at the piano. Justin McGovern, pianist, played soft music for the prelude and the postlude. Interment followed in the Franklin Cemetery.

Mr. Moore, a native of Prentiss County, Miss., was born September 16, 1944, son of Roscoe Leslie Moore and the late Rosie Lou Bertha Flanagan Moore. He was an auto mechanic, the widower of the late Mary Jeanette Moore, and a member of Trinity Non-Denominational Church.

Mrs. Ruby Louise Jones Burnam, 78, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Monday morning, July 7, 2003, at Dorminey Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Burnam, a native of Dodge County, Ga., was the daughter of the late Albert Jones and the late Carrie Mae Yancey Jones. She had lived in the Douglas area for most of her life, was the widow of the late Felton Osborn Burnam, and was a member of Parkview Calvary Holiness Church in Douglas, Ga.
Survivors include: four daughters, Ruby Jean Carver and Fay Marks, both of Broxton, Ga., Penny Burnam of Douglas, Ga., and Tenise Burnam of Waycross, Ga.; two sons, Rev. Mr. Buck Lee, 91, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
Mr. Lee, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born August 2, 1911, the son of the late John and Barbara Frances Adams Lee. He was the widower of the late Lula Ann Adams Lee.
Survivors include: two sons, Vernon Lee and wife, Lorraine, of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Paul Larry Lee and wife, Joan, of Forsyth, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara Lee and husband, Bobb, of Forsyth, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Alton (Pet) Lee; two sisters, Mary Burch and Gladys Bullard, both of Douglas, Ga. Mr. Lee was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Lorene Pridgen Brigmond, 80, of Broxton, Ga., passed away Monday evening, July 7, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Brigmond, a native of Broxton and Coffee County, Ga., was the daughter of the late John Pridgen and the late Bessie Kight Pridgen. She was a member of Pridgen Baptist Church and the widow of the late Elisha Johnny "E.J." Brigmond.
Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Newell of Broxton, Ga.; one son, David Brigmond of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, J.M. Pridgen of Broxton, Ga.; four sisters, Jaunell P. McCallum, Louise P. McKinnon, and Martha Jean P. Meeks, all of Douglas, Ga., and Mildred P. Grantham of Broxton, Ga.; one granddaughter, Samantha Bates of Broxton, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Bates and Jacob Bates, both of Broxton, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Roberts Corbett, 88, of Oklahoma City, Ok., formerly of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, July 7, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Ok..
Mrs. Corbett, a native of Willacoochee, Ga., was born August 14, 1914, the daughter of Robert and Laura Roberts. She had made her home in Pearson for many years before moving to Oklahoma City, Ok., to live with her son. She was a retired librarian, teacher and faithful member of Pearson United Methodist Churchm and the widow of the late Nerle Corbett.
Survivors include: one son, Luke R. Corbett and wife, Becky, of Oklahoma City, Ok.; two granddaughters, Carrie Corbett of Oklahoma City, Ok., and Teri J. Petit and husband, John, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson, J. Douglas David, Jr., and wife, Shannon, of Jacksonville, F1a.; two great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Corbett was preceded in death by one daughter, Jo C. David; one grandson, Brad R. Corbett; five brothers, Shellie, Owen, Edwin, J.W., and J.C. Roberts; three sisters, Vera Yawn, Estelle Roberts, and Ester Lee Roberts.

Mr. Hutto, a native of Irwin County, Ga., was born February 14, 1933, the son of the late Eston Leo and Ida Griffin Hutto. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
